I advised my sister to return the items, file a complaint, and request a full refund. She responded, "For what?" implying that if they did it once, they've likely done this to 100 other customers over time. Kalahi, stop selling old, expired desserts! The sweetest Filipino ladies work here! I rolled in early on a Saturday to get my friend chicharron. She specifically wanted it from this store. Even though it is 25 miles away, I was really curious to check this place out. They open daily early and looked fully stocked when I arrived. The large bags of two different kinds of chicharron were on one counter with bibinka, cassava cake, and garlic peanuts. In an adjacent case were puto and some other Filipino desserts. The variety was overwhelming because I wanted to get one of everything. I ended up getting bags of chicharron, garlic peanuts, and a sweet rice made with coconut milk and wrapped in a banana leaf. I didn't see prices on items for the most part but what I bought was reasonable. And the cashier was so sweet and friendly! She kept saying you came early and good thing so you can get what you want. I'm guessing they sell out of popular items. Parking couldn't be easier. There is plenty of parking in the lot and there were just a few cars in the lot. I was so glad to find this little Filipino bakery with home cooked dishes, and all the baked goods you might be looking for. I especially like this location because it's away from the commotion of the other crowded Pinoy plazas in WesCov. They not only have fresh food here but a wide selection of snacks, that if you grew up in a Filipino home, will bring you back to your childhood. Interesting small mom and pop hole-in-the-wall Filipino bakery that I wouldn't have thought of stepping in if I didn't happen to be buying take out from next door. Saw customers frequent the bakery all the time while waiting for my takeout from next door so I popped in to take a look. Very unattractive interior with dry packaged food cluttering up 70% of the visual space. The remaining 20% is on the counter behind a clear shield with a few unattractive bakery goods and the remaining 10% is a small area with photos and words of other stuff they offered. I asked a customer what she likes here and she says everything is good and especially pointed out the empanadas ( not even displayed or out on the counter). After questioning the clerk on what everything is, I decided to risk it and ordered a couple of items. Everything I tried here was good. And l've been popping in almost weekly to see what they have on sale for the day. Offerings varies each and every time I've visited. But my all-time favorites/regular items I get are their empanadas (large and small sizes available- not heavy, oily or dry unlike other places, very addicting yet unassuming) and their sweet rice or cassava wrapped in leaves (I don't know what it's called but they are wrapped in leaves). The workers/owners are so kind and hardworking that I can never say no to more baked goods and sweets! It's so hard to find a Filipino bakery especially one that makes puto, ube desserts and buko pie. This is a small store so let's support local ethnic businesses or else these delicacies will no longer be available. I've stumbled upon this bakery when I was in the area a few years ago. I've been coming here for only their Turon. It's my favorite and only only bakery I go to that makes Turon, to be honest. It is always freshly made and perfectly crispy and slight glazed. The plantain is nice and chunky. I haven't tried their other bakery because to be honest I don't know what it is.
