This place is such a cute ice cream parlor. You don't find those anymore. When my family and I visited, we were greeted so warmly by a couple of young guys. They were so helpful. They let me know all the different desserts and options. They also explained pricing and availability to me. They showed me all the different toppings that they have for not just ice cream and sundaes, but crêpes as well. Considering I walked in here, thinking that this was strictly an ice cream place, they have a very large menu. One thing that I remember very fondly about my visit here was not that there were a lot of people here, but the people that were dining in, they were mostly families with children. That may not seem like an important thing, but to me, seeing that is precious More often than not, you see children, their parents, and even their parents parents. So sometimes you get a small group of people, but really you have three generations. Quality time like that is absolutely precious and to see them so engaged in conversation with one another and laughing the entire time and sharing dessert, that was so awesome. Sharing ice cream with my dad at an ice cream parlor near our home is a very fond memory for me. So I guess that's why I paid attention to this while we died at scoop Street. When I took a moment to take a step back and look at our little family, we also were there in our lil three generational group: me, my kiddo & my Mom. The prices here are more than reasonable. The ice cream that is used for their desserts is from thrifty. The waffle cones are made in house and smell amazing. Since it's been so hot lately my friend and i wanted to have ice cream for dessert after lunch and i saw this place was close by. They have all sorts of different options - funnel cake, cookie sundaes, brownie sundaes, cookie ice cream sandwiches, deep fried oreos, etc. Everything is made fresh - i saw balls of cookie dough, my funnel cake was fried right there, and so were the oreos. The portions are generous. My favorite thing was the oreos. Im not wild about thrifty ice cream which is why i got funnel cake, but i guess i just...wasnt that into it. My friend and I ordered the shareable strawberry funnel cake (#2) with a scoop of cookies & cream ice cream on top ($15) and I ordered a large cup (3 scoops) if ice cream ($6)! After eating at so many places with homemade ice cream, Thriftys just doesn't cut it for me anymore. I know that many, including myself, grew up with Thriftys ice cream especially when you used to buy it for so cheap at the Thriftys Drug Store, but with so many places where they are making homemade ice cream without any arificial ingredients, it's hard to eat cheaper ice cream such as Thriftys.
