Let me start by saying I am a very regular customer - I have come once or twice a week, nearly every week, for the past 2 or 3 years. Their food is great, & I love the poke. I would've given this place 5 stars in the past, but their recent employees' service is extremely, extremely poor. Due to other responsibilities, I am often arriving about 30mins before close. There have been several occasions where they are cleaning up already, even 30mins before closing time. This leads to certain items being cleaned up/removed from display before they close, & their go to answer is that "they dont have anymore available for the day." It happens most often with the avocado, although it can also be other ingredients. This happens too often to be true, & on a few occasions, Ive had an employee go to the back & retrieve a small amount of avocado to add to my poke bowl, which is the appropriate action to take, but demonstrates 1. theyre not actually out & are being dishonest with customers & 2. they are cleaning things up & putting them away before it's an appropriate time to do so. Additionally, there was a time my fiancé & I arrived at 6:30pm & the worker helping us was so eager to close that as they rung us up they kept asking, "anything else? Anything else?" to rush us out of the restaurant. We both felt rushed & pressured, & when they asked "anything else?" & my fiancé went to look at the drinks to consider getting one, she continued to ask "anything else?" multiple times over before he even had a chance to look at what was available. He never even had a chance to look at what was available because she wanted to rush us out. This service is extremely dissatisfying, dishonest, & lacks integrity. From someone who comes once a week for years, the service has significantly gone downhill, & I do hope this is addressed in the future by leadership. read more

**Overall 3.5 stars** Food: 4 stars I love poke, and the fish here was very fresh, and I enjoyed my medium-sized bowl (3 protein choices in a medium-sized bowl). Variety/menu: 3 stars There wasn't a large variety of add-ins or toppings (ie, your add-ins with your protein were only cucumbers and onions!) There were many protein options, including tofu, chicken and octopus. Only 2 fresh fish options (ahi tuna and salmon) and one spicy tuna...so the choices were limited. Location/venue: 3.5 stars There were tables inside and outside, which is nice, though they weren't cleaned. Nothing a napkin wipe wouldn't fix, so it wasn't a big deal. The bigger issues were that the restrooms were closed and the soda/water machine was out of order. Customer service: 3 stars They also were understaffed. There were 2 workers there, and my friend and I were the only customers. Yet we had to wait a good 12-15 mins before anyone helped us or even spoke to us because they were apparently filling to-go orders. I would've thought that with 2 workers, one could help the customers who were inside the restaurant while the other filled to-go orders. At least greet customers and let them know why you aren't helping them for awhile. This place scratches the poke bowl itch! Just try to avoid busy times, be ready to clean your own table, and be prepared to bring your own drink or buy bottled drinks there, otherwise you'll be thirsty! read more

I ordered online during a weekday - made a custom bowl with ahi, spicy tuna, and extra crab over brown rice and salad. It wasn't ready when I arrived (30 mins after ordering) but they quickly made it fresh to order. The spicy tuna was just OK (fresh but ground too much - paste texture instead of chunky) but they do pack a lot in the bowl. I couldn't finish a regular size. It's alright for poke. Just average. The fish is fresh and they have all the standard toppings. Every poke place has an extra and this place charges extra for their seaweed salad. I feel though that their portions are off. A lotttt of rice and not the most amount of fish I have had in a large for the same price. Also the sauces they mix in are just okay. The sauce toppings really make it a little too much. And the seaweed salad is also just OK and it's a premium. This place was pretty good. Tons of fresh options, toppings and sauces to choose from. There are some things that are upcharge options so be aware while ordering (most made sense to be at an additional cost, but others seemed odd). We went during lunch time, and service was pretty slow due to there only being one person preparing bowls for everyone. Hard task during a lunch rush! It was really clean inside, but strange that all the tables and chairs were stacked up and patrons were unable to eat inside. Haven't seen that since lockdown! It is a small place, and maybe it just wouldn't work to accommodate people sitting to eat and those in line getting takeout. Regardless, food was tasty and I can see us going back. read more

The portion sizes here are quite incredible and the fish is all super fresh tasting. They also give you chips and salad if you ask nicely enough. I love a good poke bowl, and when I was in the area I decided to stop in and give Poki Bowl a shot. On the plus side, it's a small but clean place. My salmon tasted fresh, and the sauce was good. I was very disappointed in the selection of toppings. Other poke bowl places offer toppings like tomatoes, mango, and carrots, but the toppings here were very limited. Enjoyed our poke experience last weekend. There was no one there when we walked in, but there was a long line by the time we were leaving! It is obviously a local favorite. I got ahi poke with a brown rice and tortilla chip base. The chips sound weird, but it was a nice texture contrast and I liked the salty flavor with it. I like that most toppings are free, but I would recommend that they offer the option to toss them with the poke and sauce so it's easier to enjoy everything together. read more

I'm sure this poke is fine by Aptos standards, but when compared to it's competitors in Santa Cruz (Such as Poke House) it pales in comparison in many departments. The bowls are smaller portions with higher prices. Their "Sushi rice" seems to be plain white rice with no rice vinegar, and their sauces tend to make the entire bowl an oily mixture of ingredients with very little cohesion. They also have far less options in terms of toppings. The building was clean but the lighting looks like an office space. All respect to the staff for working during covid, but on two different occasions, the workers wouldn't speak to me unless I spoke first. With Aptos Village rapidly expanding, and new businesses beginning to pop up, the overall value of Poke Bowl is very disappointing. For 15 dollars, you can get one poke bowl, or walk 50 meters to Sushi Garden (in the very same shopping center) and order a Lunch Bento Box for the exact price. I wouldn't mind the quality of the food if it was cheaper, but at their current price range, I would recommend you look at their competitors. read more

The good first: The place is clean. The staff is friendly. The fish is fresh. The vegetables are good. The sauces are tasty. The shortcomings: The staff doesn't know how to make Poki. The food is double the cost of restaurants serving the same type of food. The portions of fish are "sample" size. Many ingredients used in Poki are not available. None of the ingredients were given in any volume. A $15 dollar "large" serving was the size of a small cereal bowl that did not even come up to the top of the bowl. I left hungry. I believe if they do not provide bigger servings they will not be around for long. They are serving sample portions of fish and are even stingy on the fillers (rice and lettuce). I'm going back to the place one block away that provides a meal for the $40 I paid for two samples provided by the Poki Bowl. I probably will not come back. read more

My wife and I really like poke places. We've tried every one in Santa Cruz county as they have opened and I eat these a lot when I travel because they are relatively healthy and ubiquitous. I mention this because I suspect a lot of people who review these places don't have a lot of comparative experience! Like: Fish was fresh Place was very clean Staff was friendly and helpful No like: A large poke bowl is tiny (probably one half the size) compared to the large bowl size at every other place in Santa Cruz county This place is priced as high or higher than other similar places and gives you the smallest amount of food The topping and sauce selections are both very limited The toppings were unfortunately not as fresh as the fish Bottom line: Glad we tried it and while it's good to have a place like this in Aptos, we both agreed that we would make a longer drive to go to another one of the local options next time. Came here at noon on a Sunday. They were out of salmon, spicy poki sauce and crunchy onions. Disappointing salmon in my opinion is the main part of a poki bowl. They should have a sign on the door letting people know they are out of items. It's also very expensive and mostly rice. read more

All I know is every time I go here it's more delicious than the last time. If that's possible. All the reviews say the helpings are very generous, and they are. Never a bite that is not amazing. I've never had that moment of wondering if my fish is fresh eating here. I'm a poke girl and I have been eating it pretty much, my whole life. I do look for it all over California. I'm so spoiled by this restaurant that even the Los Angeles poke places are half ass compared to this. I love all their sauces. The combination of heat and flavors are perfect. I really like it when I get extra sauce to put on the brown rice as it remains in the bowl. If I get brown rice. Man, their white rice is so freaking good. If I liked salad greens as much as I love rice. I would order salad greens with all my fish and vegetables. But, I'm a rice fan, so... No. But I love the fact that that is a possibility. The turnover of all their product is amazing here. It does not sit for long. Everything is refrigerated beautifully. It is a first rate operation. And frankly, I think the prices are really decent.
