COVID PROTOCOL HAZARD: My one star reviews are very rare, but this business is operating as a community hazard during COVID with the type of attitude and carelessness from the elderly owner that is... breathtaking. This week I went in to purchase a couple items. Approaching the counter, I requested the owner put on her mask before presenting my purchase for processing. It was important to me as I developed bronchitis over the weekend and the steroids I was taking increased my risk if I contracted COVID. The owner refused to dawn her mask, went on this bizarre tirade, and when I calmly confirmed it was in-fact required to wear a mask, she demanded I put my items down and leave. She was calling the police, Glenna yelled, as she followed me outside with phone in hand, yelling that she was calling the police as I calmly left. I had a couple other weekly errands to complete with responsible businesses. I followed up with the Hillsboro PD when I got home. Yeah, she called the police on me, demanding a criminal trespass complaint. Of course she gave them my plate, and HPD had zero interest with the issue. And while I wasn't interested in the details, it's clear the responding officer knows exactly who she is and that she is a frequent caller. I offered to support a charge of filing a false police report, but they have real fish to fry. I was able to successfully deescalate the "conflict" so no worries. You just can't make these things up. I submitted this review previously on the day it happened, because the experience was so jarring and careless of our community that I felt people had to know. So Glenna decided to follow me on Yelp (confirmed by email) and (while I can't confirm the source of the complaint), the review disappeared after a complaint was filed with Yelp on a technicality. Curious to see if this honest, time- and visit-relevant experience, lasts her next complaint. I mean, there is a police log about it. It happened. I would have recommended a while back maybe even a few weeks ago but it seems the greed bug has taken hold of this location as well as many others in the area. It used to be my "go to" to get reasonable prices on what some would call "allocated" but not truly allocated whiskies. It is disappointing to see smaller shops like this have to resort to greed over customer loyalty. It seems to have finally hit those store so I will be looking elsewhere. Although never truely satisfied, I've been going to this place with mixed feelings for several years and usually spending $100+ per visit. Its the closest liquor store to my house, but they're never really friendly, and the selection is not up to par with others in the area.. The most recent time, my wife and I happened to have only one mask between the two of us, so I asked if they had any extras. After my wife had already put it on, the distasteful woman with drawn-on eyebrows who just sits there all day said, "we charge a dollar each for those." Certain she was joking, I chuckled and we started shopping. An upcoming holiday party, as well as a few Chrismas gifts for friends and family resulted in our bill coming to $315. On the drive home I realized that, sure enough, there was a line item for the mask: $1.00. Once home, I called the number and none other than the irritable old lady answered. I told her I was surprised to see the mask charge on our receipt because I thought she was kidding. She reiterated that she had been serious. I asked if she would rather keep her dollar or keep us as customers. She said to (and I quote) "shut up." Had I thought for a moment that an establishment would charge a dollar for a single disposable mask, my wife or I would've waited in the car for 10 minutes, but that is beside the point. The point is, I work pretty hard for my money, and I'm not giving any of it to a business that doesn't value its customers. And this one definitely doesn't. If you're looking for a liquor store in this around here, you should choose one of the other dozen around. I know I will from here on in. read more

Regular customer: I purchased a vape product from their store and it was non-functional. Requested a replacement of the same product and was told they wouldn't take it because I didn't call and they don't guarantee they work. No where is this mentioned or visible in their store. Not sure what's the difference between going in the store vs. calling. Paid for another one. Same thing didn't work so I went back to get it replaced and was told to shut my mouth by the owner while being polite the whole time. After years of going here I'll be taking my business else where. Horrible customer service. Please note the cashier was very nice. The owner on the other hand was very bitter about the return and insulted me in front of customers. Never in my life have I been treated like this in a store. Product was pulled from the shelf after my second visit. No refund was given still. I'm left to deal with the manufacturer. BLOWN AWAY!!! And not in a good way by any means. I wish I could give 0 stars. For starters we had called ahead because we are collecting the Blanton's bottles and wanted to verify that they had them. The online inventories are almost never accurate. When my wife hung up she immediately said how rude the lady was. No worries so far but after we got there we asked again and they brought up the bottle but when we wanted to see what letter was on the cork she flat out said no and that is when her tirade started. Apparently this elderly woman yelling at us is the owner. For those that are unaware there are 8 different corks that spell out Blanton's when put together. She said that is not the case but by a lot of finger pointing, down talking and with multiple interruptions when I tried to explain how it really is. Also explained that I have been to several places and that they have been very accommodating because they understand what collectors are trying to do. About 15 minutes prior to this we where at a different store and they opened 6 boxes for us to check. My own son was checking a store for me elsewhere and the guy opened 12 bottles for him. It doesn't break a seal or compromise the box in any way to do so. Does not have anything to do with COVID either. She kept saying we ordered it as well but that is not the case at all, my wife had asked just to 'hold' a bottle since we were on our way. We finally had enough of her and started to leave, I did say that she will be getting a very negative review and that is when she said she was calling the police because of a "dirty word" we had said. No idea what she is talking about with that. The young man standing behind her even looked embarrassed about her behavior. I can see from other reviews here that calling the cops on people she is rude to is nothing new. So not only is she incompetent, rude and unprofessional she is a liar as well. Some people just don't know how to be happy, hopefully she will retire soon and not be able to interact with people. read more

Extremely rude cashier(older woman with pink eyebrows) she said my husband was Kind of a jerk because he asked for 20 dollar bills instead of a $50 and a $10. A $50 bill can be easily mistaken for a $20 bill. In my opinion the cashier was being the jerk. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Do yourself a favor and spend your money on a business where the owner doesn't talk down to you. That old woman is crazy! My friend and I split a special order that included 12 bottles. I went to pick up and pay for my case of 6. That whack job wouldn't sell them to me. Told me my friend would need to call and confirm that it was okay for me to purchase those 6 bottles. Even after my friend called and confirmed, that old woman continued to scold me in front of customers and her staff. I'm not dropping a couple hundred bucks for someone to treat me like crap. How is this place a two star on Yelp??? Wow, way off! I had never been into this store until I found it yesterday. Let's start off with a shout out for Kyle as his customer service is outstanding, He came out from behond the counter to talk with me, was knowledgeable about bourbon and made good recommendations. He took the time to explain that the store was under new ownership and the vision of what they were looking to take their whiskey program to. Thanks to him, I spent an hour in the store and walked out with a $190 bottle of Doc Holliday bourbon (along with a few others) when I had no intention of spending that much. Clean store, great variety and a goal to improve even more, you cannot do better than this. I am now a loyal customer and will be back in two weeks. I hope to meet the new owners to thank them in person. read more

The two gals there couldn't be any nicer but as mentioned, be aware of the dragon lady. She will go to the extreme to make sure the customers will leave uncomfortable, and treat you like a nuisance. Don't bother ever hoping to get limited whiskies, as every bottle they received are "reserved" as they say. When asked about the reservation system, the old lady couldn't give a clear answer. Wow not in a good way. I stopped in here yesterday (Christmas Eve) and waited patiently in line to pick up some last minute Christmas gifts for my husband and father in law.I brought my 7 year old as my husband was working, and handed him my phone to keep him busy while we waited. Upon finally coming in the first thing the short old grey haired lady shouted at me was "make sure he stays with you" I asked "what" and she again shouted " be sure you keep an eye on him and he stays with you", WTF....... I'm a grown woman with a very polite respectful kid.... I don't need to be told to watch my kid. I walked in then thought wtf.., as there were other parents there as well. We left..., and will not be back. We stopped at another liquor store spent 453.00 on 2 bottles and I was happy to give my business to polite decent people.... read more

This place is close to my house so I give them a fair amount of business. Recently, I bought two bottles of four roses single barrel at $50 each and one bottle of Ardbeg Uigeadail at $75 (as a gift) for a grand total of $175. I asked for a bag for the Uigeadail as it was a gift. She said that bags were 5 cents, I did not have any change and the as I used a card to make my purchase, which was at this point complete. She just looked at me, I seriously thought she was joking, but she would not give me a paper bag. I could not believe I walked out of there without a paper bag. Will not be going back there again.. plenty of other places to go in the area. read more

There was a box of candy at register that looked like the type at Drs offices, so my daughter asked if they were free, the old witch behind the counter snapped back "they're only for customers". Obviously we're there to buy something, we didn't accidentally walk in. I decided to save my larger purchases for elsewhere. It didn't really hit me until my daughter mentioned how bad it bothered her, she's not used to rude responses to a polite question. My wife and I have been regular customers of Aloha Liquor for over 20 years (going back to their previous location). Today I purchased 3 glass bottles of liquor and after they ringed me up, I asked for a bag due to the awkwardness of hand-carrying the 3 bottles. They wanted to charge me 5 cents (and the young cashier was polite) - fine, except they'd already ringed me up (before is when they should've asked about a bag) and I rarely carry loose change in these days of credit cards. I mentioned that I'm a regular customer, to which the older lady (owner?) - who, by the way, doesn't wear a facemask - replied with, "there's the door" - are you kidding me? This is how you treat a very long-time customer? This is my first Yelp review but I couldn't let this one go. I see over a dozen liquor stores close to us on Google maps. I can see now why this place is always empty and they only have a 3 star average rating on Yelp. Rating should be closer to 2-stars if Yelp hadn't hidden seven more 1-star reviews (you can find the link to them at the bottom). I have never had a more rude experience in my life. Thankfully my mother was with me so I let this batty old lady with painted eyebrows behind the counter off easy. So here's my story. I go up to the counter with my bottles and the lady asks if I want anything else. I say, "yes, I would like one of the three lottery tickets". She prints the tickets out and it's $7. I said, "no, I only pay $4 why is it $7"? She starts arguing with me saying that's just the price. Another younger lady finally explains if you buy the trio it's $7 but if you buy them individually it's only $4 total. I then said, well, that's what I want. The old lady then insists I said trio. I told her I don't know what the heck trio is and I never said that. I said one of each. Then the old lady tells me she is going to have to pay the $7 because it is already printed out and then keeps telling me I said trio. Finally, I told her, "don't put words in my mouth I never said trio". To which she looks at me, grabs the bottles and says "please exit the store". I said, what? She points to the door and says "leave the store". I had a few choice words but because my mother was with me decided to just walk out. Needless to say I will never, ever visit this store again. This lady does not understand the first thing about customer service and how to treat customers. I don't know if she was the owner or not but the other employees seemed afraid of her and got silent real quick. This place is as good as it gets if you like old western style banter. Glenna is a bronco bustin, 15 horse ownin, straight shootin cowgirl from a bygone era. She owns the store and works the register. She'll tell you like it is. There are still some of us out there who appreciate straight talk. I actually went in there to buy something that they had but wouldn't sell me because she was holding it for one her regulars. This might make some people mad but I admire loyalty and she showed it. I tried everything but she wouldn't budge for her regulars and I appreciate that. She was fun to haggle back and forth with and she's sharp as a tack so I couldn't get anything by her. I, for one, enjoyed my experience in there and I bought a bunch of other liquor because my goal is to have the honor of becoming one her regulars. Oh, by the way, she named 8 second whiskey! Never shopping here again! My husband and I went in today for our favorite rum. It was on sale, so he grabbed 4 bottles and then realized the only baskets were near the door. As he walked over to grab one, the older owner lady that all these other reviews are talking about asked aggressively, "Can I help you find something?" in an unfriendly tone that clearly meant "I see you and think you're trying to steal." We found that pretty offensive and uncalled for since that's where the baskets were, so we decided to take our money elsewhere and put the rum back. On our way out, she stopped me and demanded to look in my purse as if I'd somehow put the 4 large bottles in my little handbag instead of back on the shelf in plain sight. We remember incompetent service from this place before they relocated but hadn't yet encountered it at their new location. We were hoping they'd changed hands. Since alcohol costs the same everywhere, these places have to differentiate themselves by their service - and this place is a how-not-to-run-a-business primer in action. We headed straight over to the one on Cornelius Pass and had a wonderfully pleasant experience - and were inspired to buy a few more bottles than we intended to out of spite! Cheers! read more

I went to the Aloha Liquor Store in Hillsboro looking for a bottle of bourbon that the store had in stock which was verified by the elderly sales clerk (owner?). She asked if I was a regular customer and I said this was my first time in to which she replied that they only sell such bottles to "regular" customers. I said I thought this was bad customer service, a poor business practice and I wouldn't be shopping here in the future to which she told me to get the "f@#K" out of her store and threatened to call the police and she also said she hoped i get a sunburn; not really sure where the sunburn comment came from but she did seem a bit unstable. Guess you don't have to pass a mental fitness test to sell liquor... Went down the road and found a what I wanted at Hillsboro Wholesale Liquor; a little further away but well worth it and the employees are great! I did some checking and apparently it is within a liquor store's rights to discriminate against customers this way even though the stores are regulated by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission. This, however, should not give the business the right to be abusive to customers or potential customers. read more

It's hard for a liquor store to stand out over other liquor stores; because they all have the same prices regulated by the OLCC. (Actually, I don't know if that is a fact, I never looked that up, but I'm just assuming it's true, feel free to fact check that statement). Regardless, prices are pretty similar throughout the state, but this shop is great for two reasons. 1.) location 2.) customer service. This spots location is really convenient for anyone living near Aloha, it is right by the Dutch Brothers spot on TV hwy. So, after buying alcohol, you can stop by and pick up a iced coffee beverage to go. In addition, I was really impressed by this store's customer service because I stopped by early evening looking for a specific bottle of liquor (Angel's Envy Bourbon) to be given for a wedding present happening in less than 2 hours. It turns out they did not have the bourbon in stock, but they helped me find a nearby store that did have it, and even called to verify that they still had it on the shelf! I was very impressed, and besides not having that perticular bottle of bourbon in stock, they seemed to have a healthy stock of everything else, so I will definitely be back! read more

First review ever and it's a doozy. I went to the liquor store today to purchase a bottle of Irish Whiskey for a friend of mine for his birthday and then make my way home. I was in a rush so I didn't pay attention to the bottle itself until I got home. I took it out of the bag and the outside covering to the cap fell off. I was wondering what was going on and then inspected the bottle. It wasn't full so it was opened already. I called the liquor store and told them about the bottle and they said I had to come back immediately to take care of it. I was in a rush because I had a Comcast appointment scheduled for this time frame. I get back to the store and walk in and explain that I just purchased the bottle and when I got home, no more than 15 minutes from the purchase time, I found that it was already opened. I am now rushing because of my appointment time frame and head back to the store. This is where the story gets interesting, I take the bottle out of the bag and they look at it and say that they couldn't confirm that it was opened by me or not. I looked at the owner and explained that I don't need to cheat a liquor store for a little bit of alcohol. I asked if I could exchange the bottle and she shows me an unopened bottle and then pulls another bottle from behind the counter that was also opened. She said that she can't exchange it until she calls OLCC and that I couldn't get a refund either. So I told her to call OLCC but she didn't seem to concerned about my dilemma at all. As I stepped back I said this is f*$&%&%*$ b$*%&%& and then she asked me to leave. I wasn't addressing her I was frustrated that the customer service was horrible. She basically accused me of opening the bottle myself and doing something with the alcohol. I told I wasn't leaving until she calls OLCC to clear this matter up but instead of calling OLCC she calls the cops. After talking to the cops, who basically stated that I was screwed because my only recourse was to file a civil suit, I left the store with an already opened bottle of Whiskey that I can't give my friend for his birthday because who gives someone an open bottle of alcohol for a gift. I have never had an issue at any store until now and the fact that they wouldn't refund my cash or swap out the bottle says something about this store and the owner. They need to take inventory because someone is drinking the alcohol off the shelves or swapping opened bottles for new ones. I will never go there again and anyone that does, check your bottle first. They don't do refunds and they will try to blame you first. The customer is always wrong at this store. Find another liquor store, there are too many to waste your time on this one. read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Went to buy some whiskey, saw what looked to be a good price on a 1.75L bottle and went to check out. The young woman at the counter was nice, but breathing down her neck was an old, extremely rude woman. The sale sticker over the regular price said the bottle was $17, but it was ringing up as $24 so I said I thought it was $17. The old woman immediately got snippy with me and said that price was for the smaller bottle only. I went over to look at the sale tag and an employee followed me over. Turns out they covered the $24 regular price sticker for the 1.75L bottle with the regular price sticker for the 750mL bottle, then covered THAT up with a sale tag for the wrong bottle! Went back to the counter and the old woman said, "I guess that means I was right and you were wrong," to which I congratulated her. I will go far out of my way to never shop at this store again. Shame, because the other employees have been kind and respectful in the past, but I cannot risk having that rude and disrespectful old woman ruining my day.
