I made an appointment with Abi through her Instagram. For some bizarre reason she wouldn't clean the nail polish off that was left all over my skin after my manicure, so I came home with yellow nail polish all over my fingers. I've never had a nail tech refuse to take the nail polish off around my skin. I've tried washing it numerous times and also using acetone remover but it won't budge. I don't have the same supplies a nail salon has, so I guess I'll be spending the next few days with my fingers covered in yellow gel nail polish. For a $60 manicure, she could do without the attitude. Suffice to say I won't be going back. read more

Abby took her time removing my old acrylic nails without damaging my real nails which was a first; and I really appreciated that. I didn't feel rushed through the process and that indeed was great. Will not be returning unfortunately. Showed the nail tech what I wanted, was told it was okay ( gel mani with white base and blue chrome nothing crazy, very Pinterest). When it came time for the chrome, we both agreed it looked strange due to the yellow undertone it was giving. She brought some options she thought would look better; nothing at all close to what I wanted, all pink and white options. Apparently she didn't have any glitter or anything in blue tone? I was talked into something I didn't want with a less than desirable outcome. The girl was very nice but not up to par for what I'm use to at nail salons. Also I hate that I had to soak my fingers in acetone, left my cuticles worse than they were, there's definitely better ways to take off gel. read more

If I could give more stars I would! 5 just doesn't seem enough. I am so thrilled that my best friend chose this place for our nail services. Located near the haygood/bayside area on Aragona; cute little shop. We made appointments online and it was super easy and convenient to do so. We came a little before our 10 o'clock appointments and were seen right away. It wasn't too busy, but it definitely starts filling up with walk-ins and other appointments. I highly suggest making one if you plan to come here (which you should!). Everyone inside the shop greeted us, not just out nail techs. We were offered drinks by everyone. Everyone was just so friendly. There are so many polishes to choose from, it's amazing. We both got spa pedicures and gel manicures. My nail tech was Elvira and my friend had abbey. Both were so friendly to us each. We spoke to them and between each other and it was just so relaxing. Elvira was extremely gentle and thorough with both my mani and pedi. I absolutely loved speaking with her she was kind and funny and just made it more of a relaxing experience for me. They open every tool fresh and new from a bag, and even offer for us to keep it. I absolutely love that! I know very few shops that do that. Others will sanitize and reuse. Not here!! You get FRESH and clean items. Sooo reassuring! I cannot wait to come back for all my services. Seriously the best shop i have ever been to. They offer discounts for military and health staff and they even have a great check in offer, so don't forget to check in!! YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED! I requested an appointment thru yelp, they quickly replied and had me on the phone in minutes confirming my appointment. Easy to find and access. Came in with a picture, the lovely professional who took care of me helped me pick colors, and was very obviously a master of her craft (and super fun to talk to). I visited this special gem on a recent trip to Virginia. My usual nail place in Chicago let me down and doubled booked so I wasn't able to get my nails done before leaving. It all worked out really well though because Aloha Nails exceeded my expectations. The staff were so friendly and I chatted with quite a few people while getting both my mani and pedi. They also offer different mimosas and wine for a minimal charge so you can enjoy a much more relaxed spa experience during your visit. I know I did. I got a powder dip manicure and was impressed with the different colors and design options offered. My own place doesn't compare to the variety. Anyway, I went with a pretty sea green and the results were wonderful. Whenever I know I'm going out there, I'll probably forego my local place to visit Aloha. read more

Update: My gel polish from here always last so long (shoutout to Paula) and the service is always great! I decided to try this shop on a random Tuesday close to their opening time. Their customer service is great and I was offered a complimentary drink. To my surprise, they had quite a lot on the menu! The area is clean with a nice ambiance, just right for wanting to relax and be pampered. I believe I came in during their happy hour so I did receive a discount, so make sure to check their website before going! I came here a little under a month ago (June 19th) and I will say that I literally just took my gel polish off (which is why I waited to do this review). This is the longest gel polish has lasted on my hands, though it did begin to chip slightly about a week ago. The only things I did not appreciate: Having 3 different people take care of me. If an employee has an upcoming appointment, they should simply not take someone just because they are free at that moment. When it was time to tip I did not know who to even give it to. Yes, they have an ATM machine but I prefer not to use random ATMs due to fees. I stated clearly I wanted a gel manicure and only received gel polish. I started to say something, but I realized I was being rushed once I noticed those who were working on me kept having appointments pop-up. While getting my nails done, I mentioned the color I wanted and the first thing the employee said was something along the lines of "Oh I don't like that color because it gets dirty and dingy quickly". It was an unnecessary comment and made me second guess even getting my nails done. Overall, I would visit again because the negatives were minor things that I could overlook. *Review is based on pedicure service.* It's been over a year since I've had a pedi and wow things have changed. If it's one thing I learned & need to remember about this place, BRING CASH!! They used to offer cash discount. Not anymore. Prices have increased, credit card transaction fees are now a percentage, and no tipping on credit cards. There's an ATM, but that's another $1.50 fee to use. Is it all worth it? YES! :) Aloha is still #1 IMO. (Until I saw my credit card statement, now not so sure.) I called one morning & was able to book appointments for 2 people same day with a $25x2 deposit that is applied to cost of services. They said they would be immediately charging $50.00 (prior to services being rendered). They did not say anything about a fee/surcharge. My card was charged $51.88, not $50.00 as indicated on the phone. Lack of fee/surcharge disclosure is the reason for the 4 star rating. I used to work with Visa/MC many years ago and set up merchant accounts. I'm not sure if contracts have changed, but merchants should not be passing fees onto customers or requiring minimum transaction amounts for using Visa or MC. Also, I don't believe a customer's card should be charged until services are rendered. In the same respect, I know merchants are charged hefty fees by card processors. This is the cost of doing business to have the ability to accept multiple forms of payment. With technology now, there's also Venmo, PayPal, & Applepay. Maybe other alternatives to consider. Ben was my tech!! He is THE Mr. Miyagi of pedicures IMO. He really takes pride in his work and does some old school Asian techniques that aren't taught in school. Love BEN! Pros: Sanitized tools, beverages for sale while you're getting pampered, COVID friendly processes in place, cleanliness, appointments only so no one waiting on top of each other anymore, friendly, and good quality nail techs. My daughter had Joanna who she enjoyed too!! I don't think we've had a bad experience with the quality of the pedicures in the years we've been coming here TBH. Cons: fees(percentage) for credit card usage, no tipping on credit cards, AND prices have increased by at least 30%. Overall, Aloha does an excellent job!! However, if you're a stickler w/ finances down to the penny, be prepared for exorbitant non-disclosure of fees when paying deposit over-the-phone using a card and bring cash for remaining amount!! read more

Aloha is my go to nail salon, I won't go anywhere else! I've been going here regularly for about a year now and I've always had an awesome experience. The nail salon is clean, cute, and feels like a family. Quality is their specialty. I don't ever have to request a specific nail tech because they are all great! My nails last longer than anywhere else I've ever gone to and they take their time to make sure there are no imperfections. I've gotten various pedis and gel and dip manis done. I haven't had the chance to try any of their other salon offerings but I'm sure they hold those to the same gold standard. They offer mimosas, beer, and wine too which is a plus when you need the ultimate relaxation experience. Keep in mind, they are always super busy because they're great at what they do. I made an appointment, arrived on time, and sat for at least 20 minutes wondering if I'd been forgotten. Once I was in the pedicure chair I sat for almost another 20 minutes with foil on my toes to remove my gel polish. Once started (and new water added since mine was now cold) everything went fine.
