I have had a hard time trying to find a nail place in VA Beach that looked decent enough to try and I finally found one. The location seems to be a little in the middle of nowhere from the direction I came and the parking lot is a huge hassle. But it all worked out. My sister and I walked in to see if they had any time available for pedicures. The person at the counter told us they would be able to in about an hour and a half so they set up an appointment for us on their computer schedule. (It seems best to try to make an appointment ahead of time just in case). They require you to put down a $25 payment in order to create the appointment and then it gets credited to your service when you're done, which is interesting but not necessarily bad. We came back at our appointment time and were seen right away. Separate ladies did our pedicures and both were extremely friendly and very good at their jobs. Our toes look great! This place has very professional and organized staff. The inside is also extremely clean and well maintained. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place. read more

I've been in the area a few months now and it's been difficult to find a good nail salon. I was excited to come to this place because of the reviews. However, I will share an honest review. The parking lot is pretty small, but there was parking available. The technician wasn't what I call friendly or talkative, which kind of brought down my mood and to be honest that was a dealbreaker. She was a bit hasty as well. The worst part was that the UV lamp was too hot and I could feel it in my nails which I mentioned. I never had that problem before and I was a little surprised by it. I really wanted to leave a great review and the fact that this is one of the "nicer" ones for miles..I also will say the bathrooms, decor is dated. My wife had 3 things done there , such as, Pedicure, Manicure and Massage. The only thing she was happy was the massage. Pedicure and Manicure were a Disaster, as she was not happy, and I saw, them, which were far away from any quality we would expect for the money we paid. They were looking like they were done a few days ago. We are from out of town and cannot back there for getting them fixed. This place is THE place if you want some me time and the best pedicure in town! Jennifer did such a great job! My nails look flawless and she took her time with massaging my pregnant legs, making me comfortable and really focusing on relaxation! The place is super cute! Fast facts if you want to avoid reading everything: 1. Parking lot is SMALL and tight 2. Walk ins welcome 3. Cash only tips 4. 4% off (weird number right?) if paying by cash and a $1 charge if paying by credit 5. Pedicures range from $25-55 ($25 includes all the general stuff, going up just has extra lotions and different "massages") 6. They have a bunch of other services besides nails and toenails...see pics for details I went for a pedicure as a walk in on a Saturday afternoon (yeah, i definitely chose the busiest time to be a walk in haha). No particular issues, not per say mind blowing but Ben did a good job. I'd also say that their prices (at least pedicure wise) are better than any other place in the area that I could find. I arrived a little after 4 and they said it'd be a 30min wait. I had no other plans and I haven't gotten my feet taken care of in over a year so I didn't mind hanging around. FYI, the parking lot is small and tight, so beware! Within about 20mins I was seated in one of the chairs. It took another 15mins for Ben to come over (not his fault, he was with another client when they seated me). To be honest, one of my greatest enjoyments with a pedicure are the massage chairs so I was perfectly fine with the wait! Ben jumped right in getting my feet prepped. He is a blessedly quieter individual so I could just chill out rather than focus on chatting. He was attentive to when I was ticklish or uncomfortable (damn cheese grater thing gets me EVERY TIME!). Once he completed the first half he provided me a menu to choose which pedicure I wanted. I chose the "deluxe" package which is their 2nd tier ($35). I chose it for the extra massage part but I have to admit, it wasn't that spectacular. Overall though Ben did a lovely job. Salon requires a deposit to make an appointment, when I arrived I waited 25 minutes despite my scheduled appointment time. I will not be coming back. My nails are misshaped and all wonky looking. Also, tons of nicks in the paint job. Not quality work for the price. Paid $60 + $12 tip for a acrylic fill and I don't even like my nails. Sloppy work for $72 fill. Disappointed because this place had good reviews. Will not be back. Update: 10 days later 3 of my nails popped off. The seal wasn't tight I guess. This was my first time visiting. The staff is awesome. Salon is clean and bright! I had Jenny P for nails and Grace for pedicure. Had an appt and it started on time. Had to wait about 15 min for pedicure after nails but I relaxed in the massage chair. Only thing I would suggest is when pedicures are happening, it's distracting having the technicians come beside you and start working on someone's nails while they get pedicure. Mine was separate and better that way. Great salon and I will be back! Loved that they did Hombre dip powder as well. Didn't like wearing a mask, as my previous salon doesn't require and if your prone to get cold, dress warmer then normal for summer. This is my second review (I think) for Aloha. I hadn't had a manicure since last February because I started to lay super low due to COVID. Anyhow, I foolishly got a manicure at another salon because I had gone there to get a pedicure based on a recommendation by my stepfather. The tech did such a jacked up job that I immediately called Aloha to ask if they could get me in; they could and they did! The tech I would have do my nails pre-COVID wasn't there, but Lidia, the tech who redid my manicure was AWESOME! With the work that she did, it was unreal that I had just gotten a manicure less than 2 hours prior. Lidia, like all of the techs at Aloha, was very friendly and personable. She was very patient with me in deciding on a color and made sure to get my approval of her work along the way. I wish I had taken before and after pics because it really was like night and day! Unlike the jacked up manicure I had prior, I was beyond please with this one! I actually couldn't help but to admire my nails. Victoria is the tech who worked on my daughter's princess manicure. Chatting with my baby girl while she did her nails, she also made sure to check in with her for her approval on her nails. Victoria did a great job! I had tried to get my daughter to get her nails done with me at the other shop that I mentioned earlier. She said no; she was good. However, as soon as she heard me calling to get in at Aloha, she chimed in and said if I was going there, she'd like to get her nails done! Baby girl had more sense than her mother on this day . She essentially stated that she didn't want strangers working on her finger nails; she only felt comfortable with the friendly and familiar faces at Aloha For anyone else who has been laying low because of COVID, let me tell you that Aloha is on it! When my daughter and I first walked in, we were instructed to go wash our hands and then someone would be around to help us pick out colors. We washed our hands and then went back up front to chose colors. I don't know how I missed them, but there were signs and tape to let patrons know not to touch the polish. My daughter and I had picked a few colors out and Lidia came over to point out that we weren't supposed to touch them; only the techs were to touch the polish. As a safety protocol, she then cleaned the polish bottles we had touched and returned to help me in deciding on a color. To know that they are taking these extra precautions made me feel really good! Each tech also had a plexiglass shield with their names neatly written in cute colors at their stations. If you're looking for a nail salon with great safety measures and protocols during this pandemic and one where you will leave admiring your nails, Aloha is where you need to be! Hmm. I am not sure how to write a review with such ambiguity because I am thoroughly torn. But let's start from the beginning. It's Christmas eve. My usual place was closed and it's my fault for waiting but I broke a nail the night before so that forced me into getting my nails done before Xmas unplanned. Ok fine so I come to yelp of course and boom, I see this place has a good rating and are also open so I go with it. My first red flag should've been when one of the techs called to tell me they were appt only and required a $25 deposit. My appt was literally in an hour and I don't like non refundable anything because I'm a new client and frankly, you could suck and they should be cognizant of that fact but... sighhhhh...I didn't want to wait for another place to have an opening so I gave up my card info nervous as hell. Get to my appt and was greeted, helped right away and selected a color. The nail tech I was given was a nice young lady and I believe she tried hard to give me what I wanted. For the most part, she did do that, although there are a few shape inconsistencies and it took a lil longer than I anticipated but other than that, the service was good. HOWEVER... In Virginia Beach Virginia I have never in my natural life paid over 50 dollars for a FILL IN! Not even when I'm being fancy. I'm a lil pissed because I think I was reading old reviews and looking at old pics of prices because DAMN! I wanted a gel fill with one nail repair and I got fancy with the polish and got a hologram color. I was told about the cost of the color which was 15 bucks...(which is nuts for one color nothing crazy) but 10 with a cut down. Ok But then I was charged for the cut down, the polish, (and here's the kicker ... the "specialty shape" and the fill itself). Bruh... what? My nails are not crazy long by any means, they weren't that long before the cut down either. But what on earth is a "specialty shape"? I came in with coffin shaped nails, no one had to do a full set of "special" nails. I could see if they were a full set, but cmon... and no one said we charge for a SHAPE! Still not sure how much THAT was? I wanted a really tight and sharp coffin shape as well. I didn't recieve that either. The repair wasn't removed completely, the replacement nail was put on top which caused some bulk and the broken nail is still visible from the underside. I didn't notice that fun fact until I got in the car. (see pic) The fill it self was like already over 30 bux which is cray cray... we're in Virginia not DC. Hell even in DC I don't pay 54.99 for a FILL IN/ 1 nail repair. My nails were cut down pretty short and a coffin shape is literally LESS nail than a square one... I'm sorry, I'm lost. I had the same exact service done 2 weeks prior (repair and all) and 33 bux. Full stop. Anyway, needless to say I won't be back. I'm thankful they were open and I'm sure my not coming back won't hurt them, and I don't want to hurt them or their business. As I said, they were nice. But no ma'am. 54.99 is insanity for a fill in with one repair. It just is. $15 dollars is nuts for a polish color. And paying for something you may not like as a new customer is unimpressive at best. I'm a lil agitated by all of it. Unfortunately this is indeed Aloha to Hawaii prices, and I can't recommend. I think nails prices for things like "shape" is silly when you're paying for the set already, I shouldn't have to pay for a 'shape'. God forbid they'd have been longer. 3/5 is the best I can do. I think that's fair considering. Very icy during a pandemic,...for 54.99 I want immaculate. Not just ok. But lesson learned. read more

I came on a Friday evening, a little before they closed, and even though they were busy, they made sure I was being taken care of. Today a lot of lively conversation going on in the salon except in our corner. I tried several times and gave up. My nails are just ok. The shape was changed which I didn't want and I was surprised that just a toe polish change and no cutting or anything else including not having to remove old polish was $18. I wanted to like this place so much. It's a very cute place, it's kept very clean, and the staff seem to be very friendly with their clients. I came here primarily because it's location was so close to my home, but also because of the flood of great reviews I had read about it beforehand. To double check before coming in, I had called to see if they accepted walk-ins because it's easier for me to explain my vision in person where they have examples nearby and I can provide photo inspiration. I was told no walk-ins, appointment only. Which was fine, I haphazardly described the services I wanted and came to my appointment 5 minutes early, only to discover a walk-in arriving seconds before me being seated. Then after describing what I wanted to my nail tech, she got this puzzled look on her face like she didn't exactly understand. Granted she looked like the newest and youngest tech in there so I tried to be patient and explain the best I could. From here I tend to stay pretty quiet, especially if it's my first time at an establishment, to get a feel for the staff and see if they understand their craft enough to follow client instructions from the very beginning. I booked a manicure with no soak off (I had bare nails) and dip powder. She had to do very little filing because I liked my nail length, but went insanely overboard with the nail drill. I understand you need a flat surface for anything you put overtop, but when you are drilling someone's nail bed down so thin that it hurts there's a problem. There are too many nerves on a persons nail bed to risk damaging their fingers like that! Then she goes through and does the powder on everything, and starts to drill again! Again I understand needed a flat surface but she continued to drill until there was no powder left on the nails, and tried to hide the fact she had to redo them. At this point my nails were very sensitive from the drilling and whenever I had to stick them under the UV to cure it would physically burn my fingers, it felt like my nerves were on fire! After all of that, when my nails and the designs I wanted on top were done there was a significant quality difference between the two hands. One looks very meticulous and nice while the other looks very rushed, and the designs I asked for were not as intricate as I've seen other clients go in there for and come out perfectly. If the establishment is reading this, Jordan needs a bit more practice if she gets puzzled by simple requests. And giving her to a new client, whom you have no idea what their knowledge of nails is and you need to make a good impression so that person comes back, is not a smart idea. You always want to put your best foot forward. On a side note I also booked a simple eyebrow and upper lip wax which was great! Other than me sitting in a broken chair to wait for a few minutes, the tech that came in a did them seemed very experienced like she had done it millions of times. She finished both in like 5 minutes, and they looked perfect!! Overall I know there are plenty of different techs I could have had in there and the holidays are a rough, packed time for nail salons. But they need to keep a better track on the progression of their employees so customers keep coming back. As for me I probably won't come back here for my nails again, but you can certainly count on me coming back for all my wax needs in the future! read more
