Great poke bowl with even better service. While the place is small and built for take-out, Isaac was kind enough to let me find a small area inside to eat and take shelter from the cold. All the bowls are completely customizable without having to pay up-charges for each ingredient. Isaac provided great conversation and extra sauce as I made my way towards the bottom of the bowl. A+++ service on an already stellar product.

This delicious takeout poke place is tugged right outside of the DuPont Circle metro exit. The ambiance is humble and designed more as a takeout spot. The food is delicious and the raw fish is fresh and not overly marinated. One feedback on the food is to caramelize the onion to bring out the flavor of the fish instead of using it raw. I like how they have 3 sizes available to allow customers to choose based on their appetite of the day! There's also alternatives to healthy options like brown rice, cauliflower rice and tofu. The staff were kind and the efficient. Perfect for a quick lunch if you work in the DuPont Circle area.

Not good. I got Aloha Poke to go last week and it made a disappointing lunch. I got the large poke bowl size with white rice & mixed greens as my base. I doubled up on salmon and added on ahi tuna (marinated with sesame and shoyu). I topped it with seaweed, edamame, scallions, black sesame, and avocado, drizzled with spicy aioli sauce. The fish wasn't very fresh and flavorless, especially the tuna. I had to push myself to eat it (when I typically love eating raw fish). I didn't like how thick the scallions were cut (1 cm pieces). Toppings were just OK. The most disappointing part was the rice, which was clumpy and hard, some pieces with much more vinegar than others. Very unbalanced and unappetizing. I would not recommend Aloha Poke and don't plan on returning.

Don't believe the hype! Aloha Poke Co is a five star spot for a super fresh Poke Bowl. The service is outstanding and the Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl (Crunchy) isn't what you want, it's what you need. Forget the rest Aloha Poke Co. across the street from Swingers Dupont Circle is the ONE! SUBLIME.

oh the things I would do to be in Hawaii but instead I'm here - immediately loved the cauliflower rice option for a base, that is a rarity - if I have to upsize to a "kahuna" for a normal sized bowl ... don't even show me the menu - once I did upgrade the bowl though the serving of tuna was fabulous. it's not too fishy and a great texture. I have tried both the shrimp and the tuna and can say that you tuna was my favorite. the shrimp was good, but I feel like you get more bang for your buck with either tuna or salmon. - the seaweed salad here is absolutely delicious. it is so crunchy and packed so much flavor. also, if you get any roe on your bowl, they add so much of it. It's great for a texture break. - sauces are all fine, but they tend to just drizzle it on the top so most of your bowl doesn't get any... by the end I was just eating bites of watery residue from the cauliflower rice - wish they had crab salad

Great spot for delicious and fresh poke bowls with decent portions and quick, friendly service! I've been to Aloha Poke an almost embarrassing number of times in the last few months, but it's genuinely one of the best poke spots in DC (especially in the Dupont / downtown area). The bowls do look a tad small, but I think it's just their shape -- they're quite sizeable (18 oz for the large and 24 oz for the kahuna) and are perfect for a lighter dinner or lunch. Although Aloha Poke has a fair share of house bowls, I'm a huge sucker for a build-your-own experience, and Aloha provides a wide selection of toppings (and you can add as many as you would like), which amplifies the customization. It's also great for folks with dietary restrictions, especially since they do a great job of marking the various allergens in each ingredient and sauce on their website, as well as whether something is gluten-free or vegan. One note is that they frequently run out of a few ingredients (i.e., zucchini noodles, naked tuna), so you might not always be able to get exactly what you want, but there's usually a good enough substitute that you can still make a delicious bowl! I have also noticed that they like to add a lot of sauce to the bowls. Sometimes if I forget to ask for the sauce on the side, I end up pouring out a good couple of tablespoons of sauce, especially if I've opted for a more liquidy sauce rather than a mayo-based one. It tends to not be a huge problem for mixed greens, but every other base really soaks up the sauces and gets oversaturated and oversalted. The staff is super kind and speedy, and I'm always in and out within a few minutes; if I decide to get it delivered, Aloha Poke is also always one of the fastest restaurants on Uber Eats.

I lived in Hawaii for 3 yrs and have been looking for comparable poke. I have yet to find it. I saw that Aloha Poke had high ratings so I decided to check them out. When I walked in, I noticed the place is very small. Only big enough for to go orders, no dining in. The women inside were super nice and took my ordered very promptly and was patient with me looking to see what I wanted to order. I ordered a small, create your own, poke bowl to go. When I got home, I noticed that they STUFFED my bowl! It was jam packed! I really appreciate that. I feel like I got my monies worth. I enjoyed my bowl overall. The avocado was browning which I hate but understand and the rice was a little...cold? Idk it clumped weird but overall the taste was pretty good considering I'm bias to the actual poke bowls in Hawaii. This could satisfy a craving tho.

I love poke, the food was alright and I would've given four stars but the place had boxes all over the floor I have never had a person taking an order. Be so late in and slightly rude with not even a hi Jess, are you going to eat? Put on the better note they got the food out super quick. Not somebody who usually gets the reviews but you can tell him my profile. I usually gets great reviews but I was lesser than pleased by the service. And for me, that's almost more important than the food sometimes. Management really should talk to their employees about being more friendly. And just to clarify, I'm not somebody who excessively talks at food people because I know that they're doing a job anyways hope this finds you well.

What is the difference in size between the kahuna and the big bowl, they look the same size?

The BIG bowl is 18oz and the KAHUNA bowl is 24oz. The KAHUNA comes with an extra portion of protein and ingredients.

It's going to pain me to write this review. As someone who has lived on the west coast and has…read moreplenty of L&L chains to visit, this one has got to be one of the most disappointing. I put in an order on the app at 11 on the dot and ordered two items- a mix plate, and a katsu/chicken bbq plate. It's now almost an hour in and it's still not done... I am questioning how service can actually operate when it takes this long for two plates to be made. Meanwhile, I've slowly seen a bunch of plates come out for people who ordered in... not quite sure when they ordered, but when I arrived, no one was at the counter for a few minutes and then someone finally came along and saw my order receipt. I will say, while I love the chain, this specific location is unacceptably slow. The bbq mix plate is also almost $30 which is a hard sell, considering it's a lot cheaper currently in places like San Diego... I'm extremely disappointed and I don't like to give negative reviews, but customer service is lacking the check in that could have alleviated my frustration (since I was told the wait would be 15 minutes tops). I wouldn't recommend L&L in Annandale unless they made changes. Service is too slow, there's a lack of communication, and the meals are way too expensive. Again- I hate writing negative reviews, but time is valuable, and a fast casual place should be better equip with adequate staff with honest timelines. I am a believer of second chances, so please make this right.

I got some trustee items, and I sort of wish I would've tried the Loco Moco because that would have truly told me whether or not I would be able to come back to this restaurant. As of now, I MIGHT stop by/order from here in a pinch BUT I wouldn't go out of my way. Let's begin. Location: it's located in Navy Yard. It's inside of Takorean. They make it easy to order online. It's giving Ghost Kitchen. Food: I ordered two spam musubis, two ahi bowls, and two bulgogi steak bowls: Spam Musubi: I think someone forgot an ingredient... Or two. The rice in these was extremely bland. Further, I'm typically used to there being some sort of sauce/glaze, usually tastes a little similar to teriyaki, between the spam and the rice. That was not the case here. Also, the spam was way saltier than normal. I love spam. It's one of my guilty obsessions, and I eat it about once a week. Yes, I know it's not good for you. However, I say that to say that I know how it typically taste. This was incredibly salty. I might have noticed it because that sauce that I previously mentioned was missing. Also, the rice was super bland. I don't think anybody put anything in the rice, including salt. Not that you need salt necessarily with a super salty piece of spam, but you get me. Ahi bowls: this tuna was so damn dry. DRYYYYYY. The flavor was good, but it was so incredibly dry. It was definitely overcooked and had nothing to do with it being delivered. In the bowl, there is salad, two scoops of rice, and a scoop of macaroni salad. The rice in the bowls was good. The salad was also pretty good. I really liked the dressing. However, the macaroni salad needed some help. I don't like Hawaiian macaroni salads that are overly seasoned, but this one was bland and had no seasoning at all. It tasted like someone over-boiled macaroni noodles, mixed some low budget, mayo in, and let the mayo set in overnight. It was definitely drier than I expected. Bulgogi bowls: Now, Kau Kau... if you're just selling Takorean's bulgogi, then say that. Because it tasted exactly the same... maybe slightly sweeter. Same comments as before re: sides. And again, it hurts me to say that about the Mac salad because I love macaroni salad. That has been one of my favorite food since I was a little girl. My dad's family lived in Hawaii and my Aunt is Hawaiian, so we ate Hawaiian food pretty regularly. Mac salad is my jawnnnnn. The salad was the best item and it's not supposed to be. This place just didn't do it for me this go round. I might be down to try the loco moco in the future but not sure.
