So we saw them on TV, and during the pandemic they fed a lot of people. I wanted to give them our business as a result. We ordered the cheesesteak bulgogi, the chicken sandwich, and the Lumpia. I hate to say it, but it was disgusting. Everything was super greasy.. The book Augie had a couple pieces of meat on it and the rest was Brad and Kim Chee. The chicken sandwich we ended up taking a bite and throwing it away. Same with the lumpia. Had much higher expectations of this place after seeing friends of mine come here and their presence on Food Network. However, the food wasn't what all I was hoping for. The main reason we went was to try the haupia malasadas. My bestie lived in Hawaii for a few years when her dad was stationed there and haven't had malasadas since moving to the main land. When I told her there's a local spot that sold them she was so excited! Then when we finally got to try it, we were beyond disappointed. Didnt taste the same way she remembered, the dough was dense, the outside was still on the oily side and it was almost burnt. The filling was delicious and wishing we had more as well. Disappointment didn't end there. We also had shared dirty fries and lumpia with each other. The dirty fries had some odd coconut sauce to it which we didn't expect and didn't go well with the fries at all. The lumpia was ok but it was sitting in a pool of oil and got messy for us to pick up and eat. I did see a lot of people drinking more than eating so maybe we missed the memo and this place is better known for drinks. Maybe we'll have to go back to try a drink or 2 but not so sure about that anytime soon. read more

Tangerine and pineapple cider. Both were good. Poké was just okay. Next time I'll ask for extra sauce. What upset us more than the food was the lack of hospitality in the place. We did go during a busy time, but we stayed a little longer than normal. Seems like the owner did attend to every table but us. We felt like outsiders. I'm an actual island girl. My Haole boyfriend can vouch for me when I say there is nothing by friendliness and immense hospitality when you enter a Pacific Islanders home. So I was a little sad to feel like we weren't welcomed. I did let the owner know we'd be willing to try the place again. But I think I'll get a burger instead. read more

What a hit! This place just opened on Monday and there business is already boomin. Cute little place to grab something to-go or dine in. The employees were super friendly even when it was crazy busy when we went. I ordered the açaí bowl called The Cabana boy and it was super delicious. The only thing was that It came in a tub that was pre-made set in a cooler in front of the cashier. Because of that it wasn't as cold as I would I like it to be. And I wish they had more açaí bowl selections.. it was just that one. The fries were SO GOOD! I recommend everyone to get it with the WAM sauce (white sauce). I love seeing cool, new restaurants pop up in the area. My boyfriend and I tried this place on Saturday prior to attending the Yelpies. This is in the building of the old pharmacy on Laskin rd right at the Oceanfront. The vibe of this place is really chill. Colorful, Hawaiian-themed decor with cool music playing in the background. Despite it being busy when we arrived, the staff was helpful at explaining the menu. I decided to order a Loco Moco with chicken and my boyfriend ordered the Hawaiian Cowboy burger and the Clockwise fries. We also order the pineapple masubi to share. The menu is a tad pricey, but all their ingredients are fresh. When we got our spam masubi, we were really thrown off. I even had to double check with the waitress to see if I got the correct order! It's not your tradition masubi (rice and spam wrapped in seaweed), it looked like a disassembled version of it. Regardless of its unique presentation, it was really good!! I do wish it contained more spam than a couple of fried pieces on top. My Moco Loco was delicious! Everything in my bowl paired really well. My boyfriend pretty much devoured his burger! The Clockwise fries were like a fusion of a potato chip and a French fry. The WAM sauce that comes with them is really good! The manager was going around talking to each and every table. This place is awesome. It just opened up this week and it's already a hit as the place was packed. It's somewhat small inside but they also have an outdoor eating area. They offer burgers, poke bowls, fries and more. We ordered the Hawaiian Cowboy Burger with Clockwise fries and the Cabana Boy l. Our order took a little time to come but our food came out hot and fresh. The Hawaiian Burger was a glorious experience. The two beef patties were fresh and the crispy spam added a great texture to the burger. Combine it with the sweet pineapple slice and special sauce it is a good combo. I had lunch here and ordered a tuna poke, pad thai, and lumpia which came to a whopping $50! I understand the cost of food and labor has gone up, but for the cost the food was disappointing and it took about 30 minutes to get my order. The tuna poke bowl flavor was overwhelmingly soy sauce, the cuts were sloppy, and pineapple was partially rotten. The lumpia was a complete salt bomb and barely edible (I should also mention it was $8 for 2 pieces). There are only 3 tables inside, so chances are the only seating is at a cramped feeling bar. The pad thai was decent and had some unique flavors, hence the reason for the second star. There are other choices for Hawaiian and poke in the area so I recommend you look elsewhere. read more

Very good experience with Aloha Snacks, I pass it all the time, saw it on yelp and decided to give it a go. Upon entering, I was greeted by smiling faces of employees. They patiently waited as I scanned the menu with my friend and I landed on the Pig Kahuna Burger. I was very pleased with the wait time and quality taste in the burger. Because I mentioned yelp, it was $7 instead of $8. Very flavorful burger, the only thing I should mention is that the side of fries that come with it is not very large. You can pay to upgrade the fries, but they aren't as good as the burgers. They aren't bad, but just nothing to die for. Overall the parking, waittime, friendliness of staff, quality of burgers, uniqueness deserve a 4.5 star, rounding up. Make the quantity of fries increase a bit, that'll be perfect. Side note: they have t-shirts which are $22 pretty cool design. Nonetheless, I will be returning and indulging in Aloha Snack burgers. read more

Came here for a quick snack after leaving the beach. I ordered the tempura chicken Sammy which was crispy, delicious and topped with two delicious sauces. I can't say enough things about that sandwich. The only downside was that the fries were lack luster and we seemed to get whatever they had left over. Jesse, the owner, dons a fun tee shirt and shorts, as he makes his way to each customer and ensures everyone is enjoying their meal and feeling the Aloha spirit! I just sat down to wait on my order and Jesse even greeted me. Not only that, but he gave me a quick tour of the old Beach Pharmacy converted into this awesome place to eat and hangout. They even have a drive-thru! Jesse and his wife did a stand up job of designing this place! Right away you feel the creative energy and love they put into the details, from the murals throughout the Restaurant to the metal ceiling, repurposed table and bar area and floors! Just such an amazing experience to set foot in this place. They have great music, so you "feel the good vibes!" The food is mouth-watering DELICIOUS!!! I ordered the Cowboy Burger and the Clockwise fries with the sauce!! Did I mention?? Besides giving me a quick tour of the place, Jesse was over the top generous in giving me extra servings of their special sauce to go () and even gave me a can of Kombucha Wonder Drink Green tea! What a great take on casual Hawaiian food nearly 5,000 miles east of the Aloha State. Conveniently located near the Virginia Beach oceanfront, Aloha Snacks presents the diner with next level fast, healthy, and tasty food in a beautifully decorated setting. We were presented with a impressively diverse and extensive menu that ranges from poke, açaí, and noodle bowls to a suite of creative (and huge!) burgers. Beverages choices include island themed juices, wine and beer. There are even great kid-sized meal options for the little kahunas under ten years of age. The friendly staff was quick to take our order and the meal was prepared quickly, but with skill. On this visit we chose the soy-cured tuna poke and shiso crazy salmon poke accompanied by a generous-sized side of clockwise fries. The meal was very fresh and flavorful. You could taste each component of the dish without being over-powered by too much seasoning or heat. House made hot sauce was available if you want add a little kick. The helping size was "just right" as we had enough appetite left to share a seriously awesome malasadas (coconut haupia filled Portuguese donut). We expect that Aloha Snacks will become a huge success in Virginia Beach and recommend that you get there soon. You will likely find us there as we expect to be frequent customers! read more

I had to go back up to the counter to verify that the Aloha canned drinks were $5 each! I had purchased 3. I honestly didn't check the price before buying because I assumed it would be reasonable. By the time I realized it, my kids had already started drinking them. The poke looked amazing and was plated on a bamboo plate but unfortunately the taste didn't match the presentation. The poke had an overwhelming vinegar flavor. The musubi was good (we ordered it plain without the pineapple or sauce). The fries should be fresh, I got burnt up old ones from a previous order because they were at the bottom cheese-less and dry. The toppings were sooooo delicious, but more than .05 oz on meat would be a lot more tastier for the entire bowl to have flavor. Bulgogi meat has fat, it is expected, and the flavor was nice and powerful. I suggest maybe ensuring it is chopped abit more for cheesy fries entree. We were in the area on an extremely hot Saturday and decided to try out Aloha Snacks for some poke! The shop is extra cute inside with tons of tropical Knick knacks and surfing posters. You're automatically drawn to their chalkboard menu posted behind the counter. They seem to be pretty busy with most tables being taken and people consistently coming in to get in line. We didn't know what to order so we ended up letting several get in front. I decided on the mini sampler poke bowl and hubby ordered the soy cured tuna poke and a pineapple musubi. Omg. Delicious! You could tell it was fresh pieces of fish. And their sauces?.... yummmy!! That was my first time tasting a musubi and I loved it! Hello?? Who doesn't like spam?? Our little one had a shaved ice snow cone. He wasn't really impressed with this though. It was just kind of plain with just red syrup. We also had some fun drinks like a sunrise cinnamon ginger kombucha, a ginger grass sparking water infused with CBD, & a pineapple banana drink. However, these drinks were pretty pricey. My fiancé and I came here during lunchtime and ordered the hurricane poke, farmer poke, and a spam-pineapple musubi. We also got a bottle of cherry soda inspired kombucha, locally brewed in Virginia Beach! They have a big selection of alcoholic drinks as well - kombucha is basically your only option for low sugar (6g/serving, each bottle contains 2 servings) non-alcoholic drink. It would be super nice if Aloha Snacks could carry Ito-En teas and I think it would tie nicely into their other menu offerings. The poke was good and I thought the flavor combos were bright and interesting - I especially enjoyed the fried green tomatoes that came with the farmer poke. The musubi was a little over-complicated in my opinion (see the picture) but it's hard to go totally wrong with musubi. Atmosphere was casual, light, and clean. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a break from the more traditional seafood offerings in Virginia Beach. read more

While ordering, you look down and realize they keep the finest selection of juicy & hazy beers around.
