Passed this place driving to the beach, and went straight to Yelp to look it up! After seeing the reviews were favorable, I decided to come here on a Friday evening and I am so glad I did! We ordered the soy tuna poke bowl, Haole burger, and the Aloha Libre & Lilikoi Waterboy for our drinks. Everything was tasty, and more importantly my tuna was fresh. It seems to be very popular with the locals as it got crowded in such a short time and there was quite a wait for the food. I thought it was cute and convenient that they also had a drive thru! The restaurant itself is small with an even smaller patio on the side with seating on a first come first serve basis. They weren't limiting the amount of people entering or enforcing masks which was a little uncomfortable, but at the same time if I'm out I'm accepting that risk right? I am sure this was a one off day for the folks for Aloha snacks but my experience for lunch was terrible at the best. We placed our orders at 2.51 PM( Soy glazed tuna poke+poke nachos and Mus) and the food was only served at 3.45 PM. While the staff seemed understaffed for the crowds coming in to dine, most of the 'understaffed' staff were just not doing anything. I just saw both the 'poke mixers' stroll around the joint doing nothing for most time. May be it was my frustration at waiting for almost an hour for a poke bowl that the food seemed average at best. The cashier who handled our order and later served the order was super sweet. However, i am unable to extend the same to the rest of the folks at Aloha snacks. My review is squarely aimed at their inability to train their staff. read more

Recommended to me by a former Navy SEAL who lives locally I was very pleased with the suggestion. For "what it is" it's really a pretty fun spot with a really nice, mostly very young staff that went out of their way to make me feel welcomed, including giving me samples before I made my selection. A very much appreciated move on their part. The only thing lacking in this spot is it being on the waterfront but then again it might make things more expensive and screw up their drive thru feng shui. The restrooms (2 of them) are both unisex (can I still say that) and just might win the award for the most fun wallpaper. Their credit card cashier system does not seem to let you add a tip so if you are so inclined be ready with a 5 spot or more. I meant to grab a picture Pokemon game council on my way out but I spaced it. I found the parking lot just a little confusing as I think they need a refresher paint job on their parking stalls and one way traffic arrows. Next time I am in town from the left coast I will be sure to return and would recommend this place. We went as a huge group and if you are a large party here are some pointers. We went at opening because as a large group seating together is hard to find. This place has indoor and outdoor seating. You may want to Look at menu before arriving because you do order at the register and their menu can be over whelming. Here's a quick list of what my group ordered Tuna poke bowl Bang bang dries Ramen Korean wings Pad Thai Kiddie dogs Pineapple burger Breakfast misube Honestly that's all I remember I probably jacked up the names of everything lol. Anyway the menu was like how you would imagine if there were too many Asian chefs in the kitchen. The fusion was not fusing for us. All 3 ramens was salty and sour however if you eat the egg n ramen without the broth it was good lol the shredded beef was good eaten separately i think it's why the broth was sour. I wonder if that was like bbq beef rib meat making the broth sour. The tuna texture in the poke was weird like it was marinaded overnight in eel jelly and soy. The only thing bang banging in the fries was the shrimp. The kimchi and added sauce either made the fries soggy or disappear. The spam lacked culture. Lol.... It was still good breakfast missube. Only thing I heard that was good from the group was the hot dogs and the burger. The wings were a good size but honestly just very bland IF you don't dip it in any sauce. One group member said "The skin was crunchy the meat just taste like meat unless I dip" lol. My suggestion is read the ingredients list for each dish and if it seems like a word combo it probably is. I came here on a whim with my friend after an afternoon at the beach, and it turned out to be a solid decision! I decided to try the collard noodle bowl as well as the bucket of fries, and my friend had the Hawaiian Cowboy Burger. Overall, the two dishes exceeded expectations! Although I didn't realize that the noodle bowl would be warm (which is on me tbh), it turned out to be delicious (I was sweating up a storm though), and the fries had a generous serving. My friend said the burger was great, but could use a little bit more pineapple. I was a huge fan of the ambiance and decor of the restaurant, as well as the compostable plates and plastic ware. This place has been on my radar for a few months now so I was finally able to come for date night last night and see what it is all about. Parking was easy enough on the side parallel in the lot and when we entered it was pretty crowded with about 10 police officers dining at the bar and most other tables patronized. We were able to snag some window bar seats along the exterior of the joint and stood in line to make our order with about 6 people in front of us. I chose to get the Farmer's poke which seemed like a rather traditional poke choice with spicy salmon, rice, coconut aioli, avocado and cucumber. I also chose to try the Dirty Fries with waffle fries, white queso, avocado and spam. My bf tried the Poke Nachos with fried wonton chips, tuna, and some other goodies that he really enjoyed. His favorite things were the fried wonton crisps. He loved them. He also chose the hot dog from the menu with mango relish and coconut aioli. It's a large beef dog and was very yummy. I really enjoyed it and ate that when I decided I didn't want to finish my poke. I did not love my poke bowl but think it was more that I wasn't in the mood for raw fish and should've selected something cooked. The Dirty Fries were awesome, carb coma, but really delicious and the flavor combination was something I would never try on my own but really enjoyed together. Loved the vibe inside, the staff were friendly, it's relax and chill, nice decor that made me feel like I was in a cafe in Hawaii again, and the kitchen was hoppin as we probably only waited a little over 10 minutes for our food to pop up in the window with several orders in front of us. Water is in a communal jar around the corner and they have two unisex bathroom stalls in back. I really liked the layout with windows all around and bar tops with stools for a seat with a view while you eat. I'd love to come back and try a burger or a smoothie. This was a win. read more

Came here because a couple of friends recommended me trying their Poke Bowls or plates. Poke Bowls are a bit pricey BUT nice and fresh with just the right amount of sauce. Good quality of fresh fish. Not alot to choose from(small menu) but what they make is great. Just wish there was more on my plate. They also had spcialty drinks. Such a beachy neat cool look inside. They also have outside area with umbrella's. LOVE the outside area. It was all filled up so we had to eat inside. Maybe next time.. I enjoyed just people watching. Nice location. The Farmer's Poke: you would like it if you like fried green tomatoes. They are ok but I would have liked fried eggplant better. and for the price I would have like a bit more. What a great little spot near the beach! The food was delicious and fresh, the craft beer selection was good, and service was friendly! My husband did the Soy Cured Tuna Poke Bowl, which he said was worth every penny. I ordered the Haole Burger (HAL-EE for those of you equally as unaware as I was on how to pronounce this term) with swiss, avocado, and special sauce. It was a simple burger but a really great, mellow, flavor combination. The burger had a slight crisp on the outside and was perfectly complemented by what I believe was a lightly toasted bun. It does come with a very small side of waffle fries. The fries were SO GOOD, and I think next time we might order another side for the table as the amount that came with the meal was pretty small. Now I'm dying to get back to try the Bulgogi Cheesesteak! The menu looks 100% worth further exploring. Awe yeah!!! Hawaiian guy, here. This place is legit. If you want to feel what Aloha is like, this is as close as you will get in VA Beach. The restaurant has dining inside and out, and the place is filled from head to toe with great vibes. They even have my Hawaiian Kona coffee! And wait....they even have Malasadas! The folks that work here are super nice, and certainly seem like they enjoy what they do. They menu is not huge, but there are enough choices (and good food) that you need to take some time in figuring out what you want. I would recommend looking at the menu before you come in. Each item has lots of details (that's a good thing). I ordered the soy poke bowl, and it's very good. The tuna was super fresh. The rice was good to go. Came here to grab a few musubis before walking around the beach and they were not good at all. My husband is Hawaiian so we've had our fair share of musubi in our life. The restaurant is trying make the musubi "fancy" which shouldn't be done. These are supposed to be a quick easy handheld food not something you have to use a knife and fork with because you are worried the sauce they put on it will get on you. The rice had way too much vinegar in it and musubis never have pineapple. Very disappointed. The restaurant itself is very cute and clean, but based off this one item we won't be back trying anything else. If you can't make something so simple scared to try anything else. read more

Outdoor seating too but it was too cold today. We got there early for lunch and glad we did cause the place filled up. I felt guilty with 2 of us at a large table but there are no small tables. When it started filling up we invited 2 other people to sit at our table. I got the small taster poke bowl. It was delicious with plenty of fresh tuna. I have had the regular one but it was too much for me but I was determined to finish it and was sooooo full. The taster was a perfect size.....for me. My friend got a burger and fries and loved it. The employees were so friendly and helpful and funny and accommodating. We had an issue with a gift card and the owner Jesse resolved it perfectly. The water is self serve and they have chopsticks and forks on the tables. There have been a few items that weren't for me, but overall I have loved each visit to Aloha Snacks. My absolute favorite thing is their Farmer's Poke. Once I got it for the first time I had a hard time branching out and trying new things on their menu. It's "the one" for me. Fried Green Tomatoes aren't common in Coastal VA so when I find them I get super excited. I never would have imagined adding them to poke, but it works! That's what Aloha Snacks does- they take flavors you know and love and then they add their spin to the dish. I haven't had as much luck finding a breakfast item so I stick to making this a lunch spot. Every time I come here I have received great customer service. I live nearby and sometimes during the summer I'll pick up lunch while walking my dog. They let me walk right up to the drive through window and pick up the order I called in. This summer they added a patio which makes seating so much easier to find. I'm a fan! read more
