I was so excited to finally find some toffee I got in Maui. It was very hard to find & just when I had given up this place had it! It made my day. They have lots of cute local, handmade gifts at reasonable prices. It's also near the swing bridge. read more

When you are in the historic Town of Hanapepe you might want to take a peek on this souvenir store where you can find lots of spices made locally, art crafts & paintings. They also have a variety of food items from small treats to cold drinks. It is located right when you go to the famous Hanapepe hanging bridge, you can't missed it. Parking is challenging a bit but the good thing is this store has their own comfort room. Also, this store is way too expensive but if you want to support a small women-owned local business feel free to splurge or simply spread the word. I bought some sea salt and chocolates here and it was also good to explore this store. It's like roaming inside a mini museum. T'was fun! This store was so unique and had great gifts and souvenirs featuring local artists which is different than the usual souvenir shops. The cool air conditioning was a bonus and kept us shopping longer. They also sell delicious fruit popsicles. read more

The lemonade (I got the lavender one) was AMAZING, so refreshing, perfectly sweetened but EXPENSIVE! This tiny glass cost me $8, but I was really hot and love supporting a small women-owned business. They also sell a variety of other food items, in addition to cool local things. The woman working here was lovely, so nice and friendly. Aloha Spice Company is a cute store to stop by at if you're in Hanapepe, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend going out of your way to visit. It's located next to Hanapepe Swinging Bridge, which is a popular tourist spot in the area. The store had a bunch of cute souvenir items, including various products from vendors around the island. The shop itself had a warm, inviting vibe and was perfect for perusing. The employees were helpful and easygoing. All the products here looked absolutely delicious, but it didn't seem like there were many ready-to-eat items. I did see that the store was selling gourmet ice pops, which looked absolutely delicious, but I didn't get the chance to try them. If I'm ever back in Hanapepe, I'll have to try them! read more

Imagine a spice shop that doesn't do samples. This is that place. When asked about tasting some of their spices I was told "we don't do that since Covid." My response, "oh that's still a thing?" "Yah, well some people are still wearing masks. Besides, we went through so many rubber gloves with samples we don't need to be filling our landfill with them." And on that note it was time to go. Here is a news alert to this lady and anyone else still living in the covid era. Move on! Or close your shop up for good. As far as rubber gloves go, hows this for a novel idea. This was one of my favorite stops when we were walking through different stores in Kauai. They have a wide variety of herbs and spices, some chocolates, honey, snacks, etc. It's more of a gift shop than a grocery or general store, and the prices reflect that. They stock quite a few items for your kitchen as well, including utensils and some ceramic tiles with various Hawaiian sayings and designs on them. My wife was eyeing a couple of them and opted not to grab them because they didn't have anything to wrap them in. We ended up sampling a few of the spices that they had out. They apparently had a chocolate tasting as well but the person who was supposed to be covering it wasn't there. No big loss. read more

Love this cute little shop. All kinds of goodies from A to Z and such a huge variety to fit all kinds. I love that you are able to try so many of the flavors of their otufucts. They also have a website to order from, love that. My only downside I found was that they don't sell everything in their store online so I had to limit what I purchased because the items they don't sell online to ship were some sauces and spices and they were in glass jars and those are heavy. The items I went ahead and purchased in store added 9lbs but I would have bought more if it didn't mean I had to take the chance of breaking or my luggage being overweight. read more

Gorgeous location, just on the front?back? side of the famed "Swinging Bridge." The staff there were very nice and inviting, but the selection was slightly disappointing. There are sporadic tasting bowls for salts, sugars, crackers, etc, but after three tastings in a row resulting in a stale, overly clumpy texture and taste, I stopped wanting to know more... The spices, foods, and gifts are all beautifully wrapped and packaged, and they also offer shipping directly to wherever home is for you, so you don't have to sacrifice precious luggage room with gifts. I'd return, if I were back in Hawaii, but I'd hope they freshen up their sample offerings... read more

I can't believe I almost skipped out on this gem in Hanapepe! I was in the Banana Patch Studio when I noticed a shelf of Aloha Spice Company spices and rubs and thought it would be a great present for my brother-in-law as he is a BBQ aficionado and remembered that we had parked next to the shop. As soon as you walk into the store, you are immediately greeted by an intoxicatingly delicious rush of spices. When we walked in, we were the only ones in the shop and so we were able to pick the owner's brain about which spices to buy. The shop itself is so beautifully decorated and all of the spices are available to taste and smell before purchasing. The spices are a bit pricey but I'm willing to pay a bit more for quality products. In addition to the spices, there is also a large selection of sauces, jams, honey, and teas. Gorgeous store, friendly and helpful owner, salivating inducing aromas, and top shelf spices. If you are in Hanapepe, I would highly recommend stopping in and browsing the store. read more

One of the better gift shops on the island. Hawaiian origin chocolates in beautiful packaging, spices, and other items. Nice to see a water cooler inside, too. We got two Ono Pops (popsicles) and glad we tried them, all made from simple Hawaii sourced ingredients. They weren't cheap at $4-$4.50 each but hey it's vacation and perfect for kids in hot weather. Great location next to the Hanapepe swinging bridge, which we went on before going into the shop. read more

When stopping at various souvenier shops in Kauai, I saw spices being sold from the Aloha Spice Company. I could have purchased from there, but wanted to check out the flagship store. On a rainy day, we found Aloha Spice and made our way in. The shop sells chocolates, teas, spices, salts and gifts. There are a lot of options and you can taste the salts, rubs and sugars. I found a few gifts for family and ourselves to take home (they don't take up any space!) Definitely a cool place to check out. read more

Lovely easy drive to Hanapepe from Kapaa. Nearby is the Swinging bridge and Taro Ko Chip "factory'. A good place to get stuff from and bring home some Aloha. They have a variety of spice mixes, both salt (different mixes) and sweet types (flavored sugars), and numerous jellies, Hawaiiana ( shell and coconut or other wood products). Do try the salt and sugar mixes, and ask to sample what may not be out on display. A nice little treat to take home. read more

First, this is not a grocery. This is a gift shop. Fun little place to stop in Kauai, especially if you are close staying in Koloa town or, Poipu. Also convenient if you are on you way to Waimea Canyon. Its pretty cool, spices, coffee, local crisps and macadamia nuts.. They also have little wooden gifts and candles etc. But the best reason to come here is the frozen bananas or Popsicle. The everything banana with nuts, coconut shavings and chocolate is incredible. Grab one and walk behind the store to the swinging bridge and enjoy the view.. just be careful not to drop the tasty banana in the water below. Overall good experience. We stop here every time we're in Kaua'i. It's great for gifts. They have handmade local soaps, teas, coffees. Anything you could want for yourself or a friend. Always friendly. This time of year very busy as people are in town for the holiday. Check out the swinging bridge behind the spice shop. Nice thing is you can try all the spice blends before you buy them! So picked some up for friends back home. Ambiance is cozy, variety is mighty. They have spice grinders which means the flavor of the spices will be released when you use them. I was out shopping with friend visiting her And as I opened the door the lady behind Counter kind of longer grey hair lady just starred at us. Did not break a smile or say Hello. Then turned around and went back to what she was doing. No one at counter and to s of people in shop. I work at a dog store high end one and I always say Hello to my customers. The other thing that got me as I don't look like a tourist and I am of darker skin - Native American. My son lives on Oahu and they think of him as a local boy because he has my eyes. I have run into snobbish sales clerks where I live and don't wait on me. I don't need this on the Island if Kauai. read more

They carry local Kauai honey and Big Island honey We also saw frozen bananas & juice Popsicles Spices galore from different sugars to salts to grill-rubs Chicken-themed items everywhere so you can decorate your home to remind you of all the feral chickens from the island :-) Grabbed a funny stuffed chicken and some seriously delish Mac/coconut/honey butter to slather on the bread we'd just purchased from Midnight Bear.....lots more caught our eyes but there's only so much luggage space, alas See y'all next time! read more
