Our special breakfast spot! This place is always a treat. The warm hospitality captures the feeling of being genuinely welcomed, cared for, and treated like family. Our favorite dishes are the bacon pancakes, German Dutch pancake, Nutella crepes. Sometimes I just want to come for the bacon, it's the best I've had. The portions are incredibly generous here. Just do it!

Such a friendly server today! We were on the wait list, walked right in and got seated, which is great with a Mamá with a walker! We got the mandatory apple baked pancake for the table! It does take 30 to 40 minutes to cook, but we never leave without it. And tomorrow it'll be even better than it was today. lol So for my regular breakfast, I just got bacon and eggs with pancakes on the side, my babe got the eggs Benedict with potato pancakes on the side, and mama got strawberry crêpes with an insanely illegal amount of whip whipped cream on top and on the side!!!! We asked, they delivered! Everything was delicious, and we left too full, but happy. Peace, joy, and pancakes!

It's a good solid breakfast place. The pancakes are good, but not my favorite. The eggs benedict were delicious! Both the original and the country fried! The service was good. We got seated right next to the kitchen door so that part wasn't the best experience with the servers constantly slamming the door open

This place never disappoints, the food portions are huge and tasty. The line is a bit long even with the yelp waitlist, expect to wait for at least an hour on the weekend if not work. The parking lot is always full so be prepared. The service is good and inside has a good amount of tables. If you enjoy breakfast food, I was give this place a try. The German pancake is interesting a bit sweet and a bit sour because of the lemon. The Swedish pancake is like a thin crepe with butter and lioness berries

Breakfast perfection at The Original Pancake House in Whittier! From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and efficient -- the kind of attentive service that makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. The space has that classic, cozy diner feel with a lively buzz that says "this is where the good stuff happens." Now for the food -- absolutely worth the hype. The Apple Pancake is a showstopper: warm, fluffy, and caramelized to perfection, like a cross between a pancake and an apple pie. The German Pancake was equally impressive -- light, airy, and buttery with the perfect lemony sweetness. The Chorizo Omelette was loaded with flavor, hearty and perfectly balanced without being greasy. And the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs? Comfort food gold -- crisp edges, tender beef, and cooked just right. Coffee kept flowing, plates came out hot, and everything tasted freshly made with care. Between the service, the food, and that timeless breakfast-house charm, this spot absolutely delivers. Already planning my next visit -- and yes, I'll be dreaming about that Apple Pancake until then!

I ordered a pumpkin Belgian waffle, Spanish omelette, strawberry crepe, and 2 Eggs + Hashbrowns Keynotes: - check in on yelp! - Easy parking - Amazing food The Pumpkin Belgian Waffle was amazing, it had great flavor and loved the whipped cream that came with it. I would highly recommend to try this while in season. The Spanish omelet was a great size, the sauce went well with the omelet. The Eggs and Hashbrowns were both cooked to perfection, best Hashbrowns I've had from a brunch place so far. Overall if you're looking for a good brunch spot and don't mind the wait then I would recommend to come here. Even though getting a table takes a bit, the food came out quick. The staff is friendly and the ambiance is casual.

Stopped by during the week with no waiting/line. Ordered the apple pancake -- that takes a little longer, but well worth it! Our server, Diana, was excellent! She should have warned us how huge the pancake was, but it was so yummy, and we got to take some home for later!

Met some friends here to catch up. The wait can be up to an hour at brunch time on Sunday. There is a parking lot for the restaurant right behind. Although the servers and hostesses are super busy, the service doesn't get impacted by it. Very friendly team members. The food was good, too. We stayed a bit after we were done eating and they didn't rush us out. I'll definitely be back.

We really enjoy this cute breakfast place by our home. As soon as you walk in it gives you that cozy, homestyle breakfast/ brunch place. Everyone is so nice & attentive to anything you might need. We've gone to eat here & even orders take out & always has been very very good! The food is sooo delicious. & the coffee cups are so cute, my husband even bought a brand new cup! We've ate their waffles, pancakes, omelet, breakfast potatoes

The service is great, the atmosphere is great, but honestly I had better pancakes elsewhere. They weren't anything to rave about. Just that they offer different types that you might not be able to get anywhere else. But for regular buttermilk pancakes, I'd rather go down the street to Scotties.

Wow what an experience. First of all if you go on a weekend you should use Yelp wait list. It saved us a lot of time because they were super busy. It is a normal atmosphere as with many greasy spoons, but it was clean and up update. The wait staff was outstanding Yessi kept.a.good eye on us even though she had many other tables. My coffee cup never went dry. And then there was the food. I had the bacon pancakes with eggs and bacon. My wife had the corn pa cakes with eggs and hash browns. We had not a single complaint. Eggs were cooked as ordered, bacon was thick and flavorful, hash browns were cooked in butter and perfectly done. Then the pancakes, bacon pancakes were great and if you like corn bread then you will like the corn pancakes. The place is super busy on the weekends so if your ok with crowds and people walking around you will love it. We did

I finally got to try The Original Pancake House! Every attempt I've made in the past, the wait was too long, and my tummy wasn't willing to be patient. My daughter ordered original buttermilk pancakes, they were good! I had their apple waffle and side of biscuits and gravy. The waffle was good, I enjoyed the diced apples on top and the apple syrup. The biscuits and gravy were also very good! Tons of flavor! The service was a little slow, and our server never came back to refill our coffee. Other than that, it was a good experience.

Big cuts of ham when we ask to remove the ham and replace it with bacon.

A weekend brunch with friends brought me to Madre's Whittier, where the menu offered plenty of tempting options--and a few unexpected lessons about ordering seafood. I tried the Ensenada Omelet, loaded with shrimp, salmon, crab, and octopus. Now, I'm a seafood lover, but octopus and I aren't exactly close friends. I asked if it could be removed, but since the seafood mix is pre-made, the octopus had already RSVP'd to the party. The omelet was good, topped with a creamy sauce, but not something I'd order again. The crab appeared to be imitation crab, and while everything was prepared well, it just wasn't a standout for me. The real star? The strawberry pancakes. Delicious! Next time, I'd order those with a side of eggs and call it a win. I also sampled the chilaquiles, and now that's a dish I'd come back for. The Tiramisu Latte was another favorite--not overly sweet and packed with that classic tiramisu flavor I love. A special shoutout to our waitress, Annie, who was attentive, friendly, and made our brunch experience even better. My Verdict: Skip the Ensenada Omelet and build your brunch around the stars of the menu instead. The strawberry pancakes are the must-order item, the chilaquiles are a strong savory choice, and the Tiramisu Latte ties everything together. If you order wisely, Madre's delivers a brunch worth coming back for.

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.
