Sourdough pancakes too fat and heavy

Came here on a Sunday for breakfast. Line was too long. About 20-25 min wait. Whip cream is fake, it melted. Omelette was not fluffy at all, unlike other OPH locations. Berries were fresh tho. Hashbrowns were undercooked not crispy and well done like in the pictures. May or may not come back to this location.

Our special breakfast spot! This place is always a treat. The warm hospitality captures the feeling of being genuinely welcomed, cared for, and treated like family. Our favorite dishes are the bacon pancakes, German Dutch pancake, Nutella crepes. Sometimes I just want to come for the bacon, it's the best I've had. The portions are incredibly generous here. Just do it!

Such a friendly server today! We were on the wait list, walked right in and got seated, which is great with a Mamá with a walker! We got the mandatory apple baked pancake for the table! It does take 30 to 40 minutes to cook, but we never leave without it. And tomorrow it'll be even better than it was today. lol So for my regular breakfast, I just got bacon and eggs with pancakes on the side, my babe got the eggs Benedict with potato pancakes on the side, and mama got strawberry crêpes with an insanely illegal amount of whip whipped cream on top and on the side!!!! We asked, they delivered! Everything was delicious, and we left too full, but happy. Peace, joy, and pancakes!

Absolutely one of my favorite breakfast spots! The food is consistently amazing. The baked omelets are packed with flavor, the pumpkin pancakes are hands down the best I've ever had, and the banana pancakes with their special homemade syrup are absolutely delicious. The service is always friendly, welcoming, and attentive. From the moment you walk in, you're treated like family. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, just like eating in a family kitchen. If you're looking for great homemade food, generous portions, and outstanding service, I highly recommend giving this place a try. We'll definitely be back! My sons had the blueberry pancakes and chocolate chip pancakes.

This place never disappoints, the food portions are huge and tasty. The line is a bit long even with the yelp waitlist, expect to wait for at least an hour on the weekend if not work. The parking lot is always full so be prepared. The service is good and inside has a good amount of tables. If you enjoy breakfast food, I was give this place a try. The German pancake is interesting a bit sweet and a bit sour because of the lemon. The Swedish pancake is like a thin crepe with butter and lioness berries

Breakfast perfection at The Original Pancake House in Whittier! From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and efficient -- the kind of attentive service that makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. The space has that classic, cozy diner feel with a lively buzz that says "this is where the good stuff happens." Now for the food -- absolutely worth the hype. The Apple Pancake is a showstopper: warm, fluffy, and caramelized to perfection, like a cross between a pancake and an apple pie. The German Pancake was equally impressive -- light, airy, and buttery with the perfect lemony sweetness. The Chorizo Omelette was loaded with flavor, hearty and perfectly balanced without being greasy. And the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs? Comfort food gold -- crisp edges, tender beef, and cooked just right. Coffee kept flowing, plates came out hot, and everything tasted freshly made with care. Between the service, the food, and that timeless breakfast-house charm, this spot absolutely delivers. Already planning my next visit -- and yes, I'll be dreaming about that Apple Pancake until then!

It's a good solid breakfast place. The pancakes are good, but not my favorite. The eggs benedict were delicious! Both the original and the country fried! The service was good. We got seated right next to the kitchen door so that part wasn't the best experience with the servers constantly slamming the door open

I ordered a pumpkin Belgian waffle, Spanish omelette, strawberry crepe, and 2 Eggs + Hashbrowns Keynotes: - check in on yelp! - Easy parking - Amazing food The Pumpkin Belgian Waffle was amazing, it had great flavor and loved the whipped cream that came with it. I would highly recommend to try this while in season. The Spanish omelet was a great size, the sauce went well with the omelet. The Eggs and Hashbrowns were both cooked to perfection, best Hashbrowns I've had from a brunch place so far. Overall if you're looking for a good brunch spot and don't mind the wait then I would recommend to come here. Even though getting a table takes a bit, the food came out quick. The staff is friendly and the ambiance is casual.

Stopped by during the week with no waiting/line. Ordered the apple pancake -- that takes a little longer, but well worth it! Our server, Diana, was excellent! She should have warned us how huge the pancake was, but it was so yummy, and we got to take some home for later!

I brought a friend here for their first time. The breakfast is expensive for breakfast. But the service was really good. Their coffee was also good. It's a busy place so I would recommend going on Yelp and make reservation. They don't fry anything so their hashbrowns are baked in like a pie shape, but they don't have a fryer so they don't fry anything. I like this place, but it is expensive everything. Everything is pretty much separate. So expect to have a $60 bill for two people or $50 bill for two people.

Met some friends here to catch up. The wait can be up to an hour at brunch time on Sunday. There is a parking lot for the restaurant right behind. Although the servers and hostesses are super busy, the service doesn't get impacted by it. Very friendly team members. The food was good, too. We stayed a bit after we were done eating and they didn't rush us out. I'll definitely be back.

The restaurant has a cute, vibey interior, and the dishes are definitely photo-worthy. We started with the rainbow pancakes, which came as a stack of five colorful pancakes. They were definitely fun to look at and made for a great start to the meal. The Madres chilaquiles came with juicy birria and a flavorful red sauce. The steak was also surprisingly tender, and I definitely recommend asking about their house-made salsas to add even more flavor. The birria Benedict was one of my favorites. It came with a side of consomé, and the combination of the juicy birria, runny eggs, and English muffin soaking up all that goodness worked really well together. The pastor omelette was another standout, with flavorful pastor and sweet pineapple that gave the dish a nice balance. Overall, Madres Brunch is a fun spot if you're looking for a brunch with flavorful Mexican-inspired dishes and a cute atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the Whittier area!

Too many choices. The food was underwhelming. It is unfortunate. I wanted it to be good as it was for a special occasion. The portions are small and again they focus on presentation and pretty dishes. I would have preferred a smaller menu. I would have liked to have a more flavorful meal. I had pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs. Bacon was not a good quality, super thin. Pancakes were less than average. They could have come out of a box. Eggs moist. My husband had chilaquiles and they were not appetizing at all. Small portion. Salsa was in a tiny plastic container and could have come out a jar. Coffee was good . This recommendation for the owners is to make it better so that it can be here for years to come. Simplify your menu. Review each recipe for flavor and portions. Maybe make a weekend brunch menu special and make it delicious. Try better quality ingredients. Spend less on presentation and ambiance. Make it taste better and people will come back again. Best of luck in the future.

There is more outdoor seating on the covered patio than indoor seating. Both seating areas are nice. The lady who seated us was very friendly and pretty attentive and especially considering she wad handling a lot of other tables. Both the house eggs Benedict and house French toast were good. Was expecting crispy bacon on the benny considering the description, but the only difference from classic seemed to be the avocado. The benny egg and muffin were both collected well, especially the eggs they did a great job on those. Wife didn't like the flavor of the hollandaise sauce, but thought it was fine. She liked the French toast much better. You did not need syrup as the butter cream and chocolate sauce were plenty sweet on their own. Half serving is probably ok for one person, full was nice to share. The bathroom was clean, large, and single person--great for a pit stop before you head out! The mason jar waters were cool. Overall, nice local joint for a peaceful weekend or vacation breakfast. Definitely recommend giving them a try. Will be back sometime.

We've been here three times. The first time was shortly after they opened. The food tasted decent but came out cold, and the service wasn't the best. It was during the week and not very busy, so we figured they were still working out the kinks of being a new restaurant. After some time, we decided to give them another try. We went on a busy Friday night and were seated right away. The service was much better and everything seemed to be running more smoothly. We talked with the owner who was working as well as his wife who was bartending. They were both really friendly, and the owner seemed genuinely happy that we came back after we told him about our first experience. He even gave my husband a free beer after we moved to the bar to keep drinking after we finished our meals to allow for other guests to dine at the table we were. There was also a trio playing that night which added to the ambiance and was a nice way to end the work week. Our most recent visit was a couple of weeks ago for my husband's birthday. It was during the week and once again they were short-staffed. There was only one waitress taking care of the entire restaurant.
