This restaurant, located in a nondescript strip mall in Garland off NW Hwy, is truly a hidden gem. The ambience is nothing to write home about, but the food is outstanding. The chef is obviously trained and talented. We went here for dinner on a Sunday because the kid wanted pasta. The menu actually is quite diverse with some Italian, Mexican, vegetarian, meat, burgers, and flatbread. Usually or often when a restaurant tries to do everything it ends up doing nothing well. That is not the case with the Italian that we had here. We started with a Caprese salad and it was pretty standard. The wife had lamb chops and they were cooked perfectly. Great sauce. The spinach and mashed potatoes were also perfect. I had chicken piccata. It was one of the best, if not the best, I have ever had. Chicken was tender and the sauce was excellent. The grilled vegetables were cooked perfectly. We had fruit tart (excellent), cheesecake (excellent) and chocolate cake (excellent) for dessert. We want to come back. If the Mexican is as good as the Italian food, this place is an all-time winner. read more

This is the definition of hidden gem! Very unassuming, in a strip mall, but when you go inside - boy will you be surprised! The quality of food that you are getting and the level of service you are getting is not what you would expect from the looks of the outside. New Restaurant Review: Alondra's Cuisine, Garland It's one of my bestest friends birthdays today and wanted to pick her up and take her to lunch for a treat. Are used to live in the area 10 years ago, but very unsure of what's around, so checked out Google to see. This restaurant was right around the corner from her house! It is in a strip mall, so definitely unassuming from the outside, and a bit from the inside as well. (My designer eye wanted to make some changes SO BADLY!) It was slow when we arrived, one other table inside only. We were greeted right away by the chef, very friendly guy! My friend ordered the margarita flatbread and really enjoyed it. I was taking a chance and ordered the salmon. I could not be more impressed! The salmon was cooked perfectly, and was moist and flaky, and served with a creamy garlic sauce. The vegetables were the perfect amount of crunch. Just delish. It being her birthday, they were kind enough to bring out a beautiful piece of chocolate cake with a candle. I tried this place with a group of friends. I originally found it while searching for something Vegan friendly but where the food looked tasty for non vegans as well. This place did not disappoint. What a hidden gem. Update--December 2023 I still love this place. The tortilla soup is so good that I HAVE to get a cup with dinner or bring some home to go every time. If you do get the soup to go it is packaged nicely, hot, and they give you all the accompanying items with it. I usually go with the Salmon but this time I decided to try the Filet---PERFECTION! I got the filet with the accompaniments of the ribeye. So if you're looking at the menu that's what I asked for. So I got the peppercorn sauce and au gratin potatoes. The prices are good here. The ambiance is nice, but the food could support a much more romantic atmosphere. This is an unassuming place so I'm not sure you would bring a date here for the ambiance, but if you want to blow them away with the food---choose this for a date night. Not good. Wanted to walk out. Big mistake. When we walked in for lunch one day - something seemed off. The reviews look fantastic on Yelp but nobody was there. The place had no life. No TVs. No decor. Looked like someone placed 25 tables in a dance studio and called it a restaurant. The food is cooked in the back. Tables sticky. We ordered and I immediately became worried when the drinks came in soda cans (and they were wrong too!). Oh boy. The food comes out on plates you would buy at Target for 3 for $10. Obviously pre-frozen stuff thrown in an air-fryer or something. The sliders made White Castle burgers look big and they are 75 cents each there, not like $5 each here. The tortilla soup was like green boiled water with little pieces of avecado and had the distinctive taste of a metallic stove pot. We just paid the bill and left. Barely touched the sub-par food. I am far from high society but never to return. Maybe this will help a non-vegan save a miserable trip because it seems the majority of their high scores are by them. read more

I can't imagine this place isn't always packed. The food here is AMAZING, and it's made with love by a really talented chef! I had always driven by this restaurant, and it's easy to miss amongst a sea of eateries. I was introduced by my grandmother who had eaten here before. When I came in the first time, I was astonished to see a menu with vegetarian and vegan options here in Garland! I usually have to venture out to Dallas, Plano, or Frisco to find a vegetarian restaurant, but there's one here in my own backyard! Before you worry, yes they have meat options too. I've been able to find a place to eat with my very picky family and find something for everyone - a major feat to have accomplished. Now, we come to eat here for all of our major milestones and celebrations - or when we're just craving something healthy and delicious. Please try this place out and keep it alive! Oh my goodness, what gem! I want to say this was one of the best meals I've had in a while. Support this wonderful local business as much as you can. They deserve it! We tried the chicken egg rolls, which were freshly made and fried up perfectly with a sesame dipping sauce. We also had the caprese salad, which was fresh and full of basil with sides of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and fresh pesto to add yourself, and then the margarita flatbread that also had fresh mozzarella and pesto with tomato slices. For our shared entree we had the beef roulade which was tender and flavorful with super fresh vegetables cooked perfectly and mushroom risotto. You have to try this place. I can't wait to go back and try everything on the menu. The chef is awesome, friendly and takes real pride in his creations which is obvious in every bite. See you again! read more

I'm not sure how long this place has been here but it may be the best kept secret. I'm kinda torn between sharing it's greatness and keeping it to myself but it is so outstanding, I really want them to succeed. We came for Mother's Day lunch. We were a party of 7 so we got a little of everything: I had the spinach stuffed chicken - it had a little kick but the sauce was so delicious, other half had shrimp scampi (I have a seafood allergy so I couldn't try it but I'm pretty sure it was delicious - his plate was clean)! Our party also ordered salmon, lemon chicken, ribeye, and salad. Everyone was pleased with their entree, the vegetables were cooked perfectly and the potatoes and/or pasta were tasty. We also ordered cheesecake and tiramisu to go. The one down side was that some might think service was a little slow, I personally like not feeling rushed, but if you are in a hurry, you may want to advise the waitstaff before sitting down. This is a small family place that is unique these days and their daughter is named Alondra. The parking is a little short, but spaces are nearby with the bank next door. We had the Angel hair pasta, artichoke hearts, capers, & sun dried tomatoes sautéed in olive oil & garlic. I added grilled shrimp to mine. Pasta was very delicate and the dish was tasty with the fresh shaved parmigiana cheese. The bread was homemade and crusty and light on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I also had a cup of tortilla soup that was delicious with avocado pieces in it. Then we topped it off with a fresh baked Apple with cinnamon & ice cream. Really spectacular, but a little messy. This is one of the places I am tempted to give 5 stars. 4 from my point of view is very good and Alondra's is just a little better than that. Our arrival was 11:40 A.M. We were greeted at the door by the Chef. He seated us and brought us our drinks. The waitress came in and changed then took over from there. She was very pleasant and attentive. It wasn't busy so we had a chance to chat a bit. She was delightful. This is not fast food. The meals we had were prepared fresh which takes just a minute longer. Wow! Were we ever surprised. This is definitely a jewel in Garland. The Vegan and Vegetarian dishes are marked as such. Alondra's is not exclusively vegetarian but they lean heavily in that direction. They serve food that is good for you. Some may think that means bland or mushy. No folks, not so at Alondra's. My asparagus was crisp but cooked with a seasoning that delighted my tongue. I could have eaten a whole plate of just the asparagus. The rice was nice. The star of the show - Roulade - was magnificent. Melt in your mouth magnificent. Tish and I both tasted it and we both came to the same conclusion - it was worth every dollar we paid for it. It is a bit pricey for a lunch dish but don't let that stop you. Tish had the Calavacitas Rellenas. You could have fooled me and called it anything - I do need to know the name so I can order it again. That is not to say there aren't at least four other dishes I'm dying to see how Chef prepares them. I'm leaving it with it was very, very good and I feel happier and healthier having eaten at Alondra's. read more
