So as I'm about to eat my left over pizza I had got hours prior I had seen a big spot on my pizza and I flashed my light on it and it was a ROACH ONNNNN THE PIZZA......I'm so sick to my stomach bc my whole family had that same pizza... This was my first visit to Rocco's Italian Cafe and I have to say I was impressed from the start and the entirety of my visit met with being impressed. From my walk-in, the place looked pretty typical Italian-American restaurant. Stucco walls, a few Italian inspired pictures on the wall, a chalkboard or two of specials...you know the vibe. That would be the end of typical for my time here though. I was greeted and welcomed immediately upon entering. I was hungry, so thankfully I caught them at a time I could get seated immediately. After being seated, my server Victoria was at my table immediately and brought me freshly baked garlic rolls (delicious!). Her service was amazing throughout my experience! This is my 2nd visit to this restaurant. The 1st visit was at dinner and was nice and the food was decent. The 2nd visit was lunch and we were the only customers. Our drinks and orders had been taken and garlic rolls delivered, and then the roach appeared from the back room and walked across the entire floor. We went in and were greeted very friendly and cheerfully. Loved that, we seated ourselves and had the special read to us and bread brought out quickly. Placed our order and then I went to check out the bathrooms. I've learned from past experiences, to do this. As soon as I walked into the doorway leading into the bathrooms, the smell of sewage hit my nose. I went into the ladies bathroom and it was worse. Although the bathrooms were clean, the smell, was still there and stronger. There were large gnats everywhere. We left right after; better safe than sorry when it comes to food safety. read more

Nice little restaurant tucked away in a shopping center. Went on a weeknight with friends. Appears that they probably do more takeout than walk in. Interior was not much to look at, but the food was very good. Waitress was super attentive, and was constantly refilling drinks, and getting things for our good sized group. I ordered chicken piccata with a cream sauce. It was so good. The cream sauce had such a good flavor and the chicken was very tender. Portion size was very good and I ended up taking some home. However, if you are the type that usually takes leftovers home, bring your own container. Their styrofoam leftover containers are cheaper than cheap and you will probably crush it with your fingers before you get it to your vehicle. Lol - really!!!! Will go again. read more

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night quite by accident. We could not decide where to go and the kid was insistent on having spaghetti with marinara sauce. The wife found Rocco's on Yelp and it had good reviews and was not too far, so off we went. My overall assessment is that this place is not quite a 5, but certainly is a strong 4.5. Parking is a bit tight but I found a place. Hint: do not park by the Wing Stop next door because the people who are getting takeout from Wing Stop will park behind you so you end up waiting for them to come out before you can leave. The ambience inside the restaurant is very attractive and old world Italy. Nice homey feel. The vibe is quiet and reserved. Most of the patrons were over 50, which is fine. I am just saying in case you are looking for boisterous. The beer selection is quite limited, our waitress mentioned only three and none was what I would normally drink. So I ended up with a Corona. We were given bread rolls with marinara sauce, and everyone liked them. The sauce was not sour or acidic. The kid had the spaghetti with marinara as she wanted and loved it. She is super picky but ate almost the entire bowl. The sauce was the same as for the rolls so it was not acidic. It was just $6.99. I had a 12 inch veggie pizza for $15.99. For some reason I thought it would be smaller, more like a personal pizza, but this one was large. Too much for one person. There were lots of toppings, very generous. The crust was crispy and the dough was obviously fresh. It was a good pizza although I would have liked a bit more sauce. My side salad ($3.99) had fresh, crisp lettuce and a sweet and tangy dressing. The wife had chicken marsala and really liked it. The chicken was tender and the sauce was very tasty. For dessert we shared a slice of cheesecake, which they make in house. It was excellent. Great flavor and texture, really really good. Overall, we had a very good meal. Service from Natalia was efficient and helpful. Prices are very reasonable. Food is very good. It does not quite hit my threshold for 5 stars, but we would definitely return. The food was really good. Our party ordered pizza and the crust was nice and crispy and thin. We ordered the grilled salmon with pasta, veggies and shrimp. The salmon was cooked perfectly with a crispy crust and medium rare inside like we requested. The service was a bit slow but the waiters were super friendly and were quick with our needs once expressed. Because the bathroom had signs that read that you weren't suppose to flush the toilet paper, but put it in the trash beside the toilet, we won't be back. This is something we expect in a 3rd world country, not in America. read more

They have only gotten better over the years! The bread has improved tenfold, and the dipping oil they bring you is to die for. I had, hands down, the best server, Victoria. She was so attentive, and made the dining experience all the better. I STILL have issues with their harsh led lighting, but that's probably just the designer in me (buy warm bulbs, not cool!). I typically don't review delivery orders but these guys were super fast, the food was good for delivery food and they were so helpful and friendly on the phone when I was placing my order. Will order again for sure. The spaghetti and meatballs were on point as was the Greek salad. I liked the flavors found in the chicken Marsala as well. read more

Momma and I were babysitting the new grand and had an inkling for pizza. Had no clue on where to go. Did some Google and Yelp checks. Rocco's chosen. Ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza for pick-up. Arrived for pick-up 30 minutes later. Walked into a nice cozy, quaint, Italian eatery. This is the real deal with Italian decor, servers, cooks etc. I hesitate to say "best". But this was among the best pizza we've had, period. My husband and I were looking for a place to stop for dinner after heading back to Fort Worth from being out of town and stopping at Micro Center. Italian sounded like a great choice, and my husband came across Rocco's in searching so we headed that way. I was not prepared to be so impressed with this food - I easily cleaned my plate because I only had a small lunch earlier and that food was delicious!! I'm fairly picky about Italian food. But a good pink sauce with linguine will win me over, and theirs was incredible! The restaurant is small and has that typical rustic Italian decoration - red & white checkered tablecloths with wood and stone look for walls. All the wait staff were very kind and attentive. I heard the couple at the table near us ask for recommendations, and the waiter said Rocco's pasta, so I looked at it and knew that's what I wanted. My husband got the chicken parm sub and it also had incredible flavor with delicious and perfectly crunchy bread. I didn't realize my meal would come with a salad until they asked what I wanted, I got a house salad with their house dressing, which was very similar to Catalina dressing - something I almost never get for a salad but was perfect for this! They really overdid it on the carrots though, I pulled some off, and it would've been nice to have more tomato (just 1 slice included) and cucumber and/or olives. I wouldn't have been happy paying for it, but since it was included with pasta, it was fine. I'm not always a fan of sausage in pasta, but this was great especially with chicken, bell pepper and onions. The pink sauce was superb. One small note - if you look at the plate they serve the pasta in, it has an incredibly wide rim and gives the optical allusion that your meal is very small. While the pasta WAS a very reasonable portion (and of course in the US we are often inundated with overly large portions so what is appropriate often seems tiny) the presentation makes it seem like a small serving for the price, so I think the restaurant would be well served using plates of the same size but have much smaller rims, so the entree takes up the whole plate and gives you a visual that makes you feel better about how much it costs. We opted for dessert rather than an appetizer, and the tiramisu was wonderful and reasonably priced. I would absolutely recommend to anyone in the area looking for good Italian food and would eat here again whenever I'm over this way! If I lived closer, this would easily be a once a month visit. read more

The employees were nice, clean place, but the food is a different story. The best part of my meal was the bread/marinara, had high hopes for the large four cheese pizza, but it was one of the worst pizzas that I've ever had. Even after the cheese and toppings solidified the pizza is hard to grip, like everytime I tried to grasp it the toppings, sauce, and thin crust kept dropping all over the plate. The crust was was too thin and floppy for such a big pizza per slice, I even had to use a knife and fork at times since the pizza doesn't stay together too well. Four cheese also isn't traditionally supposed to have tomato slices, this one does and I dislike the idea, makes it taste worse. I've had fastfood and frozen pizzas that are better than this place. If you want a good Italian resturant in Garland, search for Besa's or Sali's they are much better than Rocco, I give both of them about a 4.5/5. read more

First time here, my first impressions: the place is clean, the servers were nice, and loved that it wasn't busy at 1130am. Which could be a bad thing but I prefer a place I can talk with the person in front of me and think without excessive noise. Parking was a little limited in front of the restaurant. Saw a few people coming and going with takeaway, so at least that showed me people do like this place. Ordered the eggplant parmesan, and it was delicious. The eggplant wasn't dripping in oil, good flavour. They serve garlic rolls before and during the meal, the marinara sauce tasted store bought, but wasn't watery like other small business Italian eateries in the Garland/Richardson/Mesquite area. Ended the meal with crème brûlée and Tiramisu. The crème brûlée I was hesitant on ordering and I should have listened to my hesitation. The hardshell was a soggy shell, the custard was sour, and it didn't taste like spoiled sour, so maybe too much lemon zest or something? The Tiramisu was flavourless too. So for 1 meal, 2 disappointing desserts, and a fizzy pop, it came to about $31 Will only return for the eggplant parm and go elsewhere for dessert next time read more

I had been here years ago and remember it being good. I took my kids and we really loved it. Great portion sizes, bread rolls with marinara were delicious. Quick, hospitable service.
