I reached out to Alot for Less last month to move us this weekend from Cibolo to San Antonio. He was incredibly friendly and helpful and reserved us for 2 trucks with 4 men for 2 hours for a two story 4bedroom 2.5 bath house. Other companies we've gone through quoted a little more for only a specific list of furniture, whereas they would do any and all moving needed within that 2 hour period for less. They came within the window they said they would and called ahead when they were en route. Unfortunately they showed up minus a man because one of the guys called in sick but they charged us for only one of the trucks and even gave us the extra hour we had to take for free due to the less manpower. The crew was very professional and friendly and very fast but careful with our stuff. I will most definitely recommend this company to anyone needing to move!! read more

Wow! I read a review about a "10 foot truck," which is what I expected, but the truck was a lot bigger than that. I called this place first and got a quote. What I got quoted was what I paid. They even gave me a military discount. They arrived ten minutes early and had to wait on me at the pick up spot. The guys were friendly and professional. The move was done fairly quickly. I can honestly say I will never use this company again!!! I have use them once in the past and they were great! I wasn't going to write a review but feel I need to so this will not happen to others. I moved 2 months ago and hired a lot for less due to used them in the past with no issues Well.....this time it was different my boyfriend and I were moving into a new home. (Combining two houses into one) 3 movers (Lamar, Eric, cannot remember the other gentleman's name) came to move me first since my house was smaller everything was going good except Lamar kept giving me three different prices from the initial price that was given to me when I set up the appointment. After my stuff was packed in the truck they movers headed over to my boyfriends house to pack up his home. An hour later they headed to the new house to unpack... two of the movers were great..Lamar on the other hand was asking me inappropriate questions that made me feel uncomfortable in which he did apologize for but at this point I was irritated and wanted the job done. The movers had to make a second trip to my boyfriends house to pick up the rest of his stuff or so I thought they ended for not packing a lot of his stuff along with the refrigerator. Lamar who I'm guessing was the supervisor said we never said anything about a fridge. As week turned into a month after the move and through the unpacking my boyfriend and I have started to notice stuff missing clothes, an expensive speaker that was packed that we cannot find...we both figured the movers took it. When I first contacted Alot for Less, I was happily surprised by their extremely reasonable quote compared to their competitors. On moving day, Chris, Frank, and Kaleb showed up promptly, and immediately got to work. Each of these gentlemen were friendly, quite professional and expedient. The primary reason why I am rating two stars is because they severely lack in communication. My move was scheduled for Sunday. When the scheduled time came and I did not hear anything from them, I had to call them and very long story short, they could not keep their commitment and move me until Monday. This was a severe inconvenience for two reasons: 1. My apartment keys were supposed to be turned in by close of business Sunday, so I will eventually be billed for the extra day and 2. I had to take a day of leave from work to accommodate their broken commitment. I completely understand things happen that are beyond anybody's control, but there should probably be a contingency plan in case something does go wrong. When I checked my credit card charge today, it was higher than it was on the invoice they gave me. Apparently, the movers forgot to add the fuel charge. Now, I probably wouldn't have been as mad as I am now if they had kept in touch with me and let me know what was happening on moving day. If they had called me to tell me they couldn't keep the moving appointment instead of me calling them, it would have been easier. They called at 7:30 the night before to make sure that I was able to keep the moving appointment and there was no inkling of any trouble at that point in time. Also, if they had called me and told me that the charge was actually higher because of a miscalculation, I would have been okay with that too. Again, I have to find these things out by surprise. While the moving staff and the managers seem like really nice people and I can tell they are all hard workers, I'm the one who ended up paying for these little mistakes in the long run. read more

Very bad service. I had set up a move for a weekend. They called one hour before and cancelled saying their truck broke down. Made me take a Tuesday 3:30 appointment. Called me on Tuesday at 3 pm to say they were running late. I waited till 7:30 for these guys, there were no updates after the first one and no one showed up for the move. read more

Used these guys based on all the positive reviews on yelp....due to the very accurate reviews on this site however it was a HORRIBLE MISTAKE. Spoke to the owner David over the phone and I was satisfied with his professions am over the phone and very reasonable quote. He confirmed the movers would arrive anywhere from 8-9am and would call ahead to assure the estimated time of arrival. Needless to say I woke up super early expecting a call or knock on my door not to get a phone call until 9:20 am and they didn't arrive until 9:40am. Dispite their late arrival I thought they would hustle and move all my items from a 2 bedroom apt. They guys were slow as snails and carrying on conversions amongst each other sometimes even standing around (mind u I'm getting chargered by the hour). I couple hours later I started to move things out on my own because only half of my apt was moved into the truck. I was originally quoted a 2 hr move @ $210 with a 10% discount but I would have gladly paid full price to go with another moving company. The guys were unprofessional while moving items carelessly bumping into walls scratching up furniture and walls (I was cringing the while time and biting my tongue from saying rude things). My kitchen table was damaged during the move breaking the latch to expand it. When I asked the mover about it he said "I will let the owner know...but hey it could have been worse we could have broken your mirrors and they would have been REAL BAD"! Not only did they break the table but a luggage handle that was purchased in Korea (irreplaceable) oh and did I mention how it was broken???...the mover guy was too lazy to pick it up and yanked it up from the curve while unloading it from the Truck into my apt . They also broke a liquor bottle that was imported from Jamaica (was a gift from a friend again irreplaceable) and when I asked about it they laughed it off and said "it smelled good and they poured it out for all the dead homies" they consistently used the "ni**a" word were just SUPER UNPROFESIONAL!!!! I won't be using these guys ever again I am military veteran that has moved over 8 items and I've never experienced such disappointing service from a moving company. Did I mention it took them 4 1/2 hours to move me. When they drove my stuff to the new place it took them 45mins a it's only a 13 min drive. When asked what took them so long the driver said a man wouldn't let him over on the road and they were forced to take a longer route. I wish I would have something nice to say about these guys but all I can say us David the owner is nice very professional I wish the rest of the crew was like him. This review will be long for a good reason so in short, NEVER use this moving company! The details: I just got off the phone after having a conversation with David from this company. To say it was unpleasant is an understatement. My mother as previously reviewed, used this businesses moving service on July 1st. As a disabled elderly woman she was no longer able to take care of a larger home and needed to downsize. The able bodied men in our lives now live out of state and I had just had a baby so we were unable to lend our usual hand. When my mother told me about this moving company, I was reassured by the decent reviews, that she was in good hands. On the day of the move she contacted me and told me she was concerned that the movers were at this point over 2 hours late. When the movers did arrive 3 hours after the scheduled time, no explanation was given for the delay. My mother made mention that the movers were "a bit rough" with the boxes but she otherwise was not concerned. Her things were stacked rather high so she waited until I was able to come and assist her (this was less than a week after the move). It was at this point as we went through boxes that we uncovered box after box of broken goods. My mother downsized from a 3 bedroom home to a 1 bedroom so the "discoveries" were found over the course of 2 to 3 weeks of unboxing and organizing. I was actually willing to forgive and rationaIize some of the broken items (cups, plates etc) however the movers also managed to break the recliner chair, TV stand, and even broke the nobs off our washer and dryers. My mothers income is now fixed and limited so those arent easily replaceable things. I urged my mother to contact the movers to discuss. Multiple phone calls were made and sent to a voicemail with a "full mailbox". Finally my mother asked me to try. I too reached a full mailbox so my mother left a review... no personal outreach came from that so I thought id give it another try. I have over 10 yrs in customer sevice and managing. Ive moved from the ground up in every workplace Ive been in because I show empathy and kindness to the people I service. I expect the same when I work with other businesses. Instead I received EXTREMELY RUDE pushback and yelling from David when I explained the situation. He essentially called me a liar regarding his full mailbox and also implied nothing could be done even with their insurance. He cut me off as I spoke multiple times in a gruff manner, twisted my own words to say "you're saying they destroyed the place" and was overall just unpleasant to speak with. I hardly ever raise my voice but towards the end had to just to prevent him from once again cutting me off from speaking. When I said to him that he was responding to the situation innapropiately... he hung up. So in long... never use these guys, they are terrible. I wouldn't want anyones mother or grandmother to go through this service. read more

So this guy seems to have a lot of anger issues. I actually never got to use his service. When I called because his guys were three hours late he started cursing at me saying that he will reveal the type of p@ss&y man I am. He started telling me that he is the boss and that the customer is not always right. All I wanted was for the movers to come and move my household goods and to have a good idea of when they would be arriving but he was very angry. I am sure he provides a good service, but don't get on his bad side otherwise he will make you feel like crap. He was calling me a spoiled brat over the phone, and I don't know where that came from since I never met the man. He seems like a good person through his Yelp reviews, but like I said don't get in his bad side otherwise you have to listen to the boss. He threatened me and my family when I mentioned that he had good reviews on Yelp and hat is why we chose him. I was trying to compliment him and calm him down by showing him he has a good reputation, but instead he threatened me saying that he would attack me if I wrote a bad review on Yelp. It was one of the strangest conversations I ever had with some who considers himself a business. But I went with another moving company that was much cheaper, had good guys, and very friendly. David M..to your comment... You never apologized and you never let me speak. A lot of what you are replying to me with are lies in which you never said certain things. If anything, we were the calm party and you created the "lions den" between You and your employees. Your employees actually apologized for your actions, but you can not do that. You were so angry when I called that I don't think you realized the things you said in regards to saying numerous curse words to me and threatening me. If you just called me and apologized after your temper tantrum I would have never posted this review. I left a message asking you to call me back after you calmed down, but I guess you never did calm down since you never called me back. A lot for Less contacted me twice to confirm my move out date prior to their arrival. David provided his estimate in advance based on his very reasonable hourly scale. The day of my move out, David was 45 minutes early and ready to work. David and Chad worked well together with great concern and care for my belongings. They were very conscientious about not hitting the walls and scuffing the paint. Perfection! It was blazing,hot today and not once did I hear either one of them complain. They asked if I needed help moving anything around as I was arranging my things and asked at the end of the move if I needed additional help with anything. Chad even walked my 10' ladder to the loft i moved out of when I had every intention of doing so myself. I was impressed with their service, expeditious manner, friendly demeanor and professionalism. Would definitely recommend their services to my friends and associates. When it was time to pay for the bill I told David not to deduct the Angie's List discount. I gave him an additional $45.00 out of appreciation for a job well done in scorching heat. This man works hard as well as his employee Chad. Due to two promotions at work, this was my 3rd move in less than a year - so I can speak here with some authority. From the over-the-phone quote (very straight-forward and clear) to keeping me updated regarding the exact time of arrival on day of move, and the follow-up call I received after the move, it could not have gone smoother. They even sent an extra man (for free) and they really hustled. As I was paying by the hour, I really appreciated how quick they all moved. As there was a slight issue with a piece of furniture that had to be taken apart to fit - they are actually on their way over now (for free) to rectify it. The price was good and I will provide an update at what kind of shape our belongings were in, once we unload our van. They kept changing times for moving on us and acted as though those were the times all along (I always write everything in my schedule book as we're discussing it and repeat it back to whomever I'm speaking with.) Anyhow, the first group of packers said that there was only a couple hours of work left for the next day (moving day). It seemed odd to me, but I tipped them well in case they really had done more work then it seemed like they'd done. The next group said "what on earth did the other guys do yesterday?!" One guy, Levar was very friendly at first but then begin making comments about how much stuff we had and asked if he could have a number of our items. All three began talking about all the things they had heard other movers had been given during moves. Made us feel very uncomfortable. read more

Do not use this moving company. They damaged my property costing me $200 in furniture repairs and many more problems. Moving is stressful enough there is no reason to put up with anymore then that. Ok, here we go, the movers arrived late and they did not bring any moving boxes at all. I had to pack my stuff in trash bags for them to move. Interesting enough, I called ahead and spoke with the owner, David letting him know everything that needed to be moved. David was very short with me on the phone and ensured that his guys would have everything needed. Of course, his guys blamed David for not telling them about the boxes. The movers were fast, but damaged almost every piece of furniture I had. I was told not to worry about the damages and that everything would be repaired at no cost to me. The movers took about 15 photos of all the damaged furniture. I was never compensated for the damages. Just a lot of bad ways to do business. I will not be using a lot for less moving again and I recommend you find someone else. read more
