I truly enjoyed this place in Raleigh they are amazing there but here in Sanford it just seems like they just rather lose customers than even try. I paid for a half a chicken plate with rice and beans. I got the chicken and rice..The beans were basically at the bottom of all the juice that wasn't at all enough of what i paid for. Ambiance gives overworked over priced no smiles and i guess since they didn't recognizes me when i came i truly wanted to turn around. I get it though. Fantastic chicken crispy skin, not too salty. Loved the plantains and the black beans have a nice smoky taste. Green beans cooked just right. They refresh everything all the time so it is not sitting cooked forever dying in the pan. Brought home the flan. Authentic. Think and yummy with a little burnt sugar sauce on the bottom. This is the best Peruvian chicken in the whole world except Peru. Now don't become depressed or have an anxiety attack when you arrive. The sign has a new name Fabes. Not sure what that stands for. The reason for my rating not being as high as it could've been comes down to something not directly related to the food. We dropped in about one hour before close recently. It was our first time in Sanford, and yelp search led us here thanks to the good reviews. As we pulled in to the parking lot, I could see someone sweeping the dining room floor. We walked in and up to the counter to place our orders. Then as soon as the staff asked if our order was to go and we said we were dining in, the staff turned and looked at this other staff at the register and made faces at each other that clearly said, ugh they're eating in and we just cleaned everything! The blatant facial expression and eye rolls made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, and as if we were being a burden somehow. And frankly, the best food in the world wouldn't have made up for it. As for the food, we got the half chicken, beans and rice, plantains, and homemade slaw. Slaw was creamy and soupy, and the chicken had good seasoning although some parts had dried out and weren't as juicy as expected. Beans and rice was good, and plantains were...plantains. I imagine this was not the peak dinner service so I had reasonable expectations and enjoyed the food for what it was, but it was ultimately the attitude of staff that ruined the experience for me. Moved from Cali and miss the food so bad. This is our favorite place here in Fayetteville. We love the Lomo Saltado! We have taken the full chicken and sides home many times. Such a great price and so delicious. And you can't help but LOVE the yellow sauce, Lupita is so sweet, and attentive. She is happy no matter what she is doing. We love her! To be fair, I didn't try their signature dish (chicken) but I did go to this place twice for lunch in just two day. Both times I had large plate of black beans with rice. Both times I asked them to go easy on the rice and throw in extra beans. One lady didn't understand but the second time they got it right. They have bottled hot sauce at the drink counter but don't miss the little salsa bar. Two types of hot sauce, cilantro, radish and lime. I threw the red salsa, cilantro and radish on the beans and rice and it was so tasty. Also, grab some of the fresh corn tortillas. Not bad. Not bad at all. Franchise Peruvian chicken shop that serves decent Latino food. And it's in the small town of Sanford, NC... Go figure!! The place is a modest size and kept clean. They definitely take pride in their establishment which is so nice to see! Popular Spanish music - especially bachata - is played and they have a modest TV broadcasting fútbol (soccer). The chicken is very tasty and moist. It is seasoned just right and has that bold charcoal rotisserie flavor without being overpowering. You can choose two sides with your 1/4 or 1/2 chicken plate - they even offer whole chicken family meals! I chose black beans and rice and maduros (fried plantains). The black beans and rice were very good, much to my surprise for a franchise. In fact, I like them better here than Pollo Tropical in FL!! Has a better flavour here to me and they use Jasmine rice!! The maduros weren't bad, not greasy, just a tad overdone. Still, they were delicious and fairly straightforward. They have a mix of refreshments ranging from typical soda to iced tea and also Horchata! They also offer a small selection of desserts - flan, tres leches, and Peruvian type cookies. I did try the flan as I am wont to do, but it isn't homemade. Alas, one drawback to franchise, but forgivable! The price is reasonable, the portions are generous, and you will leave pretty happy! It isn't as I expect and it could very well be the metal dish it comes in changes the flavor too. For many, this dessert will be a welcomed sweet and won't notice any difference. As another note, I am planning to sample the alfajores next time. My family is from León and I think my Abuela only made them once or twice to my memory. This is not just Peruvian Charcoal Chicken, this is very good Peruvian Charcoal Chicken served up fast food style, and they even have a drive thru window. This is the 4th location for this small chain, with other spots in Raleigh, Durham, Cary (or little Raleigh as we call it), and it opened in Feb or close to it. Make no mistake, this is a fast food setup from start to finish - you start by placing you order at the spot with the "Place Your Order Here" sign, and you finish by removing the remains of the meal from your table, sorting out the keepables from the recyclables, and hopefully dumping the correct ones in the trash bin - I hate that kind of pressure, I just came for the food. The order is filled as you move quickly down the small cafeteria style line toward the toll booth area where payment is expected. You transport your plastic tray of food to your selected table, and somewhere in the process you secure your drink, tableware, napkins, and sauces - each step will remind you this is fast food dining, and it is really about the food after all. And the food is very, very nice. We each went with a 1/4 Dark Meat ($6.99) with sides of Sweet Plantains, Black Beans, Rice, and FFs (I KNOW, but they were hand cut). The chicken is excellent, moist, tender and loaded with flavor. They plate the chicken in front of you as you move down the small line, and your initial reaction might very well be that - "Wow, this chicken is dark, and looks overcooked" - it is not, and you will eat every bit of that dark skin, and lust after that of your dining companion. The Sweet Plantains (or Maduros to those in the know) were very good, perfectly cooked, with the dark spots of caramelized sweetness being special. The Black Beans and Rice played nice together, and the houses sauces were a nice addition. The FFs were very nice, who ever cut them. This was an excellent, low cost meal. The service was exceptional, and how can that be in a fast food establishment, you might well ask. These folks were pleasant, efficient, and attentive. I watched as the counter people carried a tray to a table for a physically disabled man, another carried trays for a husband and wife with small children in their arms, and another help two elderly ladies sort through the "getting through the remains" part.
