I had 2 clocks that weren't working. Not antique. The large clock fell off the wall during an earthquake. The drop bent a piece. The UCLA clock was a gift. It just stopped running. Rubio took one look at each clock and quickly figured out what was wrong with each. He repaired each clock and I am so happy to have them up on the walls ticking away again. Rubio diagnosed my British Mantle Clock's chime problem in a couple seconds of FaceTime transmission. My problem was the chimes would not turn off. The issue was the tiny "Chime Stop Pin" in one of the gears had broken off. I ran the clock over to him and he said he wanted to give the clock a bath in his UltraSonic cleaner, then install a brand new Chime Stop Gear, and lubricate the clock properly. All for less $ than buying a brand new clock movement box. And this way, I kept the original parts in my clock. Everything turned out shiny clean and looks like new! And everything works great! I have had my great-grandmother's antique mantle clock for YEARS, and have never had it running. Finally took it in to Alpine. The gentleman there looked it over and showed me what needed to be done, explained how long it would take, and gave me a price that I felt was reasonable. He called me to let me know it was ready, well within the time he had told me. When I went to pick it up, he showed me what had been done, and how to operate everything, and gave me a new winding key, since it was missing. In addition to working perfectly, it looks AMAZING! He polished the wood and the metal trim and cleaned the glass. Rubio came to my home to appraise my 130 year old Waltham gothic grandfather clock. He showed me what needed repair and how much it would cost. He took the clock works out of the case and took it away for repair. After repair he bench tested the works for two weeks to ensure it was working correctly and keeping correct time. He reinstalled the clockwork and spent a couple of hours adjusting the 9 chimes. I noticed a slight problem with the chimes after he left but he returned the next day and fixed the problem. I would highly recommend him for any clock repair. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and it comes with a two year guarantee. VERY HAPPY. read more

We just got our cuckoo clock back this week. The clock hands had fallen off. We originally took it in for cleaning. He diagnosed the problem quickly and repaired the clock hands for free. But then the pendulum wouldn't swing and we took it back for repair. He gave us credit for the cleaning. We had the option to get a new clock mechanism, or just get it repaired. We chose to get it repaired. Estimated time was 4-6 weeks, but we got it back in around 3 weeks. It works perfectly now. We'll probably take it back if the clock needs maintenance again. As a bonus the shop has a great atmosphere. It has large variety of beautiful clocks chiming at various times, and it was a fun experience to visit the Alpine Market while we were there. read more

I first found Alpine clock repair after I called about 3 places. From Torrance to Long Beach most places would not repair a battery powered quartz cuckoo clock. I went to the swap meet. The owner was luckily there as I was only 10 minutes away from the shop being closed. The owner walked me to his shop, which was s building. He replaced the quartz clock unit as mine was running too slowly. The cuckoo was working fine. In 30 minutes the movement was good. The cuckoo would come out but not move. He painstakingly troubleshooted the situation. Finally, he even took the bird out and lubricated it. Finally at 6 pm, 2 hours after closing Saturday night, I was delighted! To this day the cuckoo clock works flawlessly and the time is...on time. I will come back with 2 more clocks to fix. 30 years experience with clock and electronics really shows. I wish to warn all of you customers that this place is dishonest. Parts will be taken and replaced with less valuable ones. Especially cuckcoo clocks. You will never realize it but it happened to me there and I caught it and the owner denied it and in fact lied about it but I knew my old German made cuckcoo clock well and he took off and replaced expensive hand made wood parts in the front and took off the authentic fixed on wood tag in the back that said 'hand made in Germany' so theoretically he can affix this onto one of his own clocks to increase the price. VERY DISHONEST WORK! TAKE HEED. Would recommend taking a picture of your clock prior to leaving it for repairs. He was also charging me over 300 dollars just to tune that poor cuckcoo clock! read more

Went in to browse old cuckoo clocks and i was SHOCKED by the prices. $495 for a used, 1-day chalet cuckoo? That's more expensive than many brand new, higher end 8 day cuckoo clocks! Another clock I was interested in was also $500. It was an incomplete 1-day and hadn't been serviced. I was only interested because i loved the style. I own an 8-day version of the same clock that i bought in perfect working and cosmetic condition... for $220. I'm sure this shop has great clock repair, don't get me wrong, and I understand the overhead for running a business. But the price tags on their cuckoo clocks were simply not correct, especially when online retailers are charging surprisingly competitive prices for factory new black forest clocks, and anything used/vintage can be had at an equal or lesser price on ebay... read more

I brought in a very sentimental cuckoo clock for cleaning. I paid $300.00 for this service. Unfortunately, after I picked up my clock I noticed the original hands were replaced with very cheap plastic hands and after the clock ran for half a day the weight would slip to the floor. Since bringing it back FOUR times for "warranty" repair the clock is not working at all due to the problem worsening each time I brought it in.
