A beautiful cafe to stop by for some coffee. The interior is beautifully decorated with a bar in the basement, as well as outdoor seating. The workers were also very friendly and made the drinks fast.

I'm right on the fringe of 3 and 4 here, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt for…read morenow and go 4 for the time being. I went here today with my kids and some friends and their kids (ages 6 to 8 months). It being a Sunday at 1ish, we figured we'd miss the lunch rush and be able to cruise in and out. Somewhat surprisingly, it was pretty much full (which isn't a bad thing), but we got lucky and were able to sit within about 10 minutes. The place is quite fun with walled-off bar and table areas that adjoin at the front with an open space and the small music stage. The decor was cool with rough cut wood everywhere and TVs playing the Olympics (go US curling team!). And even though it was really busy, it wasn't all that loud given the number of people. Once we got seated though is where things started going off the rails a bit. It took a little bit for our server to come see us and then even more time to take our orders. The whole time she seemed either disinterested or distracted and certainly in a rush. I also got that same kind of vibe from the other servers I saw bouncing around too. In any event, we got our orders in and then it took them quite a while to come out as well even though we didn't get anything really special - pot roast poutine and side salad for me, cheeseburger and fries for my son, pizza with black olives for my daughter, and then our friends got chicken fingers and fries and I think maybe another cheeseburger or something. All in all, I think we ended up being there around an hour and a half through no fault of our own. For a beverage, I ordered myself an espresso martini. Now, mind you when I asked for a cocktail menu, they had none. They also "only" had 3 or 4 kinds of gin, to which our server told us that's not actually what it's called the "Gin" Mill for (not sure if that was sarcasm or serious). Either way, not really what I was expecting but oh well. It is a pub after all. On the flip side of that, I saw what looked like some really excellent looking cocktails being served up at the bar. Seems like a missed opportunity to me. On the food side, my side salad was pretty basic - lettuce, green pepper, tomato, and onion. I asked for balsamic and ended up getting two ranch. Oh well, I still like ranch. The pot roast poutine was absolutely epic though. Is it trying to actively kill me? Of course it is with all that fatty meat, greasy fries, and gravy. Aren't I allowed to splurge for the sake of you readers out there though? The roast was melt in your mouth tender and some big chunks of it to boot. I brought about 3/4 home and it made excellent leftovers for dinner too! The pizza was solid with a good cheese to sauce ratio, a nice, fluffy crust, and good overall taste and texture. I got a bite of my son's (plain) cheeseburger and it was also quite good with quality-looking bun and some really nice sear marks on the burger. The fries weren't my favorite with the sort of weird crunchy texture-style that like a Burger King has, but that's really just my personal preference. At around 230 is when the band started playing, which was an older couple playing some country tunes. My kids decided to go out and dance for a couple minutes, which the musicians seemed to get a kick out of. It was tough to make out the words she was singing, but it was a fun vibe regardless and it wasn't obnoxiously loud either. All in all (and cheating looking at some of the other reviews), it seems like this place has some front-of-house issues that need addressing but their food and drink are pretty solid. Since there's not a ton of food choices in town, I'd consider going again, but with EBC and others in walking distance, I guess there's not really any compelling reason that I should when I only make it down this way a couple times a year.

Had to wait longer than normal for the hostess to seat me. It's was extremely difficult to communicate with the server due to the volume, however, I ordered the French onion soup, not bad. This establishment has the historical charm, but I could've done without all the dead Wildlife creatures hanging out all over the walls. FYI, some individuals like myself, prefer seeing them alive, especially while you're eating. But, each for their own. And I have to agree with other reviews on service being extremely slow .

Finding any GF options when visiting small towns can be a challenge so I'm really thankful to have found Finnerty's! We ordered: - Jalapeño Poppers (for my gluten-consuming husband) - Stuffed Banana Peppers (Gluten Free) - Chicken Wings ordered well done with hot sauce (Gluten Free) - Smash Burger on Gluten Free Sesame Bun & Chips - Hamburg Carrot Cake Brown Ale (for my Gluten-consuming husband) There were only 3 Jalapeño Popper left so our server didn't charge us for them. They were your run-of-the-mill frozen poppers; nothing special. The Stuffed Banana Peppers were a special for the day and they were pretty delicious. They were cheesy, stuffed with sausage and topped with a delicious tomato red sauce. The Chicken Wings were well done, as we requested but were average which was a surprise considering all of the claims to be award winning. The Gluten Free Sesame Bun was one of the best GF buns I've had but the burger patties were average. The meat didn't seem like it was seasoned but the cheese and grilled onions helped add some flavor. Not worth $15.95, in my opinion especially because you have to pay $1.50 each for any additional toppings and it only comes with generic potato chips. The Hamburg Carrot Cake Brown Ale was listed on the draft beer list but was served in a can. Our server was attentive and had a kind/sweet personality. Here's a few highlights about the space: - Pool Table - Golden Tee Golf Video Game - Hockey Foosball Table Game - Old Arcade Video Game - 8+ TVs; I believe they're usually tuned into sports. - Music was really loud; it was somewhat difficult to hear our server. Overall, I would come here again when visiting Ellicottville and try other menu items - like the Gluten Free Pizza and whatever their daily special happens to be.

It's definitely got a polished casual, wine bar sort of vibe to it so you can pretty much dress however you want. It's not the normal sort of place you'd go to for breakfast necessarily, but it was open and my friends swore by it. My kids got hot chocolates and the adults all got Irish coffees. The hot chocolates were decadent and delicious without being scorching hot. PERFECT for the kids! My friends loved their Irish coffees as their typical go-to. I like my coffee a bit on the sweeter/creamier side and this wasn't really it with a bit of that coffee bitterness still coming through that was a bit of a turnoff for me. That's just me and my personal taste though, so take it with a grain of salt. My kids shared a French toast with blueberries (no kids menu available, it seems) and it was HUGE. They will usually pound an adult portion of anything between the two of them and even this was too much. There were 2 extra thick slices to start and there was easily a half slice left, enough to fill a small to-go box up pretty solid. I got the burrito which came topped with salsa (ranchero) and cheddar cheese plus a side of shredded hash browns. The hash browns were half crispy and half limp but still quite tasty. The burrito itself was a good size though not enormous. While nothing mind blowing, especially for the $19 price tag, it was a solid meal overall. One of my friends got the lobster eggs benedict special and said it was life-changing. It was $24 and came with a massive hunk of lobster meat. For a $3 charge over the standard benedict, that's a steal and smartly priced for a good heaping of lobster. Getting the food out seemed to take a little bit of time, but the server was good about checking in on us throughout and the other staff we spoke to were also very friendly. Overall, a solid experience. Definitely paying a little bit extra for the ambience and ski resort town, but I'd still come back to check out the lunch and dinner offerings for sure!

I came here with a friend over the weekend and stopped in to order 2 drinks and some snacks to eat after a few hours on the slopes. Everything was fine until it came to getting my drink. I ordered a 16 oz café mocha, which took over 10 minutes to get. The waiting time wouldn't have been an issue, but the problem was that everyone else was getting served ahead of us. More than 2 caramel macchiato's were served to people who had ordered after us. I used to be a bartender/barista, I know how long espresso drinks take to make and how they're made. There's no reason to serve caramel macchiato's first and a cafe mocha afterwards, all these drinks take about the same amount of time to create. My friend asked the girl who was making our drinks 3 times, where our drink was. She kept saying that she's making it, while not making it. We finally got our drink after another customer in line made comments about our situation out loud, and the barista overheard. Another guest in line had noticed how long we were waiting for our drink and made comments out loud about how ridiculous it was, which spurned the barista into completing our order. ANOTHER NICE GUEST HAD TO INTERVENE. When she did end up making the drink, she made the 12 oz. We had to reitorate that we had ordered the 16 oz. She remade it and I believe she just threw in more milk or water, as it ended up tasting like nothing. This is supposed to be a Starbucks frianchise cafe mocha. I've had it a million times before, what they served was hot water tinged with a taste of mocha. Now, we are both of Asian descent, my friend and I. We both speak perfect english and I was born in North America. There was no reason to be acting this way towards us, even if we weren't native to this continent. PSA, avoid the blotchy haired girl at McCarty's Cafe with the mess of orange, yellow and blonde on top of her head if you're a POC. Her personality is the same as her hair, confused and a mess.
