More than 2 caramel macchiato's were served to people who had ordered after us. I used to be a bartender/barista, I know how long espresso drinks take to make and how they're made. There's no reason to serve caramel macchiato's first and a cafe mocha afterwards, all these drinks take about the same amount of time to create. My friend asked the girl who was making our drinks 3 times, where our drink was. She kept saying that she's making it, while not making it. We finally got our drink after another customer in line made comments about our situation out loud, and the barista overheard. Another guest in line had noticed how long we were waiting for our drink and made comments out loud about how ridiculous it was, which spurned the barista into completing our order. ANOTHER NICE GUEST HAD TO INTERVENE. When she did end up making the drink, she made the 12 oz. We had to reitorate that we had ordered the 16 oz. She remade it and I believe she just threw in more milk or water, as it ended up tasting like nothing. This is supposed to be a Starbucks frianchise cafe mocha. I've had it a million times before, what they served was hot water tinged with a taste of mocha. Now, we are both of Asian descent, my friend and I. I got the burrito which came topped with salsa (ranchero) and cheddar cheese plus a side of shredded hash browns. The hash browns were half crispy and half limp but still quite tasty. The burrito itself was a good size though not enormous. While nothing mind blowing, especially for the $19 price tag, it was a solid meal overall. One of my friends got the lobster eggs benedict special and said it was life-changing. It was $24 and came with a massive hunk of lobster meat. For a $3 charge over the standard benedict, that's a steal and smartly priced for a good heaping of lobster. Getting the food out seemed to take a little bit of time, but the server was good about checking in on us throughout and the other staff we spoke to were also very friendly. Overall, a solid experience. Definitely paying a little bit extra for the ambience and ski resort town, but I'd still come back to check out the lunch and dinner offerings for sure!

I looked at my wife and said, "They must have been waiting a while." A minute or two later, our bartender, Jenn, finally came over to greet us. Since our table didn't have menus, we grabbed the ones left behind by the table that had just walked out so we could at least look things over. We ordered an appetizer and the cocktail flight. Jenn mentioned the drinks would take a little while because it was four mini cocktails. That wasn't an issue at all--we told her there was no rush. Ironically, the drinks came out quickly. Unfortunately, they were disappointing. I understand that well-made cocktails shouldn't taste overly alcoholic, but these tasted watered down, like mostly mixer with very little spirit. They lacked any real flavor or balance. Once the drinks arrived, we ordered a few more appetizers. Shortly after, all of the food came out at once. Jenn warned us to be careful because the plates were extremely hot. Having worked in the restaurant industry, that's usually a red flag--it often means the food has been sitting under a heat lamp. Sure enough, while the plates were scorching hot, the food itself was only warm. While Jenn was at the table, I asked for a spirits flight. She told me it would be a while before she could get to it, and I told her that was completely fine. Unfortunately, she never came back to check on us. There was no opportunity to mention the disappointing drinks or that the food wasn't hot. By the time she finally returned, we had already eaten about 75% of our meal, and she came back empty-handed. She then asked if I still wanted the spirits flight. At that point, between the disappointing cocktails, lukewarm food, and inattentive service, I was simply ready to leave. I declined and asked for the check. Overall, this visit missed the mark in nearly every way. Poor first impressions, weak drinks, food that felt like it had been sitting, and service that was largely absent made for a very disappointing experience. I can't recommend Steelbound based on this visit. I'd honestly recommend grabbing a bite at the gas station across the street before coming here.
