Did not expect to get pho when visiting the city of Alpine, but I was impressed that this little spot was actually pretty good. Definitely one of the cleanest pho spots I've been to, since most of the ones I'm used to going to are more of a hole-in-the-wall type of place. I'd like to think I know my pho, and I was overall impressed with the flavor of this spot. The soup was rich, and the meat we had was tender and delicious. I tried the Pho Special since it had a bit of everything, and I also tried some of the pho beef bone. The beef bone was quite tender and had a pretty sizable amount of meat on it. Everything in the special was good and nothing tasted gamey. If I'm ever around the area craving pho, this would definitely be the spot I'd go to. read more

Saw the Grand Opening sign at this place and we just had to try it out. Very clean place and customer service was great. There were only 2 other occupied tables when we came in on a Sunday afternoon and got seated right away. Food was brought out pretty quickly. Started out with some egg rolls and they were tasty. It comes with pickled veggies and lettuce. Definitely added to the overall deliciousness. My hubby got the pho dip, which he said was great. I ordered the rice with pork chop which came with a pho broth. The broth was ok but probably could be tastier but maybe it's because it was only the broth and didn't have all the goodness of an actual pho soup. Part of it was a little tough but mostly tender and delicious. For our drinks, we ordered mango guava tropical drink and Vietnamese coffee with ube foam (was good but was a maybe tad bit too sweet). Stopped by the grand opening of Alpine Pho & Grill after seeing the sign while driving by. It was a hot day so I ordered the watermelon lychee drink with popping boba. I also tried the bánh mì sandwich which came with a dipping sauce that made it stand out. The restaurant was busy and everyone looked like they were enjoying their food. We've been hankering for more good international food in Alpine so we were thrilled to see this place open. We ordered bahn mi sandwiches and the fresh spring rolls. The bread was crusty, like good French bread should be. The meat was juicy and flavorful; the marinade really comes through. Based on our previous experiences with authentic Vietnamese cuisine, these sandwiches were the genuine article, even a little better than what we've had before. The spring rolls included big and juicy shrimp, with a refreshing burst of mint. The only thing was that we asked, and paid for, pate on the grilled pork bahn mi, but it didn't make it. It could've been an oversight because they were due to close soon, but we were disappointed. Even during these issues, you weren't very helpful or organized. You offered nothing for our troubles (twice). Honestly, you didn't seem very concerned. I took my mom here for an early Mother's Day lunch. The service and food are incredible. Our waitresses and all the staff are so kind and attentive. We were well taken care of. What the con hẻo- pho in Alpine? No way! I had zero hopes the food was good. I ordered a lot to give this a well rounded write up. I ordered pho in a hot pot bowl. I wonder what the hype was. It's an advance method of eating pho. Everything comes on the side, even the noodles. So I guess some people like it aldente. And some even like the meat rare. So, I guess this works. However, don't get alarmed. Even the veggies come out frozen. You have to throw it in the broth. The flavors were very authentic. We ordered the spring rolls. It rolled out delicious. We ordered the crispy tofu. It was under seasoned, but good to the last bite. We ordered the egg rolls and it was 7 out of 10. Ok here comes the con. First, they were only a week old so they're working out the kinks. They have "all new young workers." They could use some food service training. My order was screwed up and some food never came out. I had to get it to-go but somehow it was not in my to-go order. And that's why I took away 2 stars, but I gave them 1 star back because the food was great. Especially in Alpine. read more

Came back to try again today and was very pleasantly surprised by the service. The gal at the front was very nice and attentive. Food was just ok. Got the bahn mi. Sandwiches were not as good as first time. Meat was chewy and made sandwich hard to eat. Pho broth that came with one was very good. Will try that next time. Was in a rush today and didn't have time to sit for soup. Thai tea is very good. I also enjoy the atmosphere in there. I think they've made some good improvements recently overall. We were in Alpine for my daughters softball game and just happened to drive by and see there was a Pho shop and decided to give it a shot; I am glad we did ! Their springrolls were fresh and authentic, with the right greens and fresh shrimp. The egg rolls were also delicious with good flavor and filling with the right amount of crunch. My husband had the Pho dip and loved the broth and the meat was delicious. The star was definitely their ube Vietnamese coffee, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste, just the right amount of sweet and the coffee again was authentic. Stir fry was very bland. Meat and veggies aren't cooked with the noodles, the noodles were ontop of it all. Noodles had no flavor, meat is bland, and veggies are steamed. Nothing had seasoning and it was way overpriced for what you get. read more

The wait was a little long the first time I went, but they had only been open a week. Second time eating here and both times I was disappointed. The food was decent, but the to-go service was terrible. The first time they did not provide any utensils and very minimal toppings for the Pho. Second time we ordered to go, when I picked up my order, I asked the lady at the counter if utensils were in the bag, she said they were. I checked the back once I got back to the car and once again... no utensils. It especially sucks eating Pho with no chop sticks so this really tainted my experience here both times. Secondly, every other Pho restaurant I've ever had take out from provides the Pho in a bowl and then you just pour the hot broth over it... this place put it in a square take out container. If you don't have a larger bowl to put it in, you'll have to make little portions at a time. Lastly, they gave us one small siracha packet for two Pho's. Come on guys let's not try to cut costs at the expense of ruining customers experience. I really hope they figure it out, but if they don't I'll be more than happy to drive down the hill to a real Pho restaurant. Overall food was averages, but these small things ruined my experience. I'd probably give them one more try before I start going back to my old spot. read more

Second time I ordered the clay pot ginger chicken and it doesn't look anything like their website photo or match the description on their menu. The owner made it over after I told him exactly what I wanted it to be. It was very good. Now, the service or lack of. Both the two young adults (not sure if they are the children of the owners) need training on working with the customers. Had to flag down to get basic dinner items, the attitude was curt and not professional at all. It make be question eating inside but having my order not correct twice with take out it leaves wondering if I should just give up on this business.
