Just about everywhere in Lionshead Village in Vail is a sit down place. While the Bavarian influence can be felt at every turn, I'm sure you're wondering just like us where to get a quick bite. Enter Alpine Pizza Company. I'd mention something about no frills but there is something special about this place. It's certainly a walkup counter type place with a drink cooler with all your popular drinks PLUS root beer. They have so many options for lunch like pizza + pizza + drink, pizza + side + drink and some other options. While they may have a bit overwhelming we found a combination that worked for us. Pizza is Detroit style square slices and they even give options for corner piece or regular slice. Pizza comes out hot & flavorful, service is a wonderful touch and the ambiance of the village can't be beat. all the seating is outdoors so keep that in mine. Love the ease of this place.....walk in and order then wait. The wait wasn't a long time on a Saturday afternoon in the summer time. We found this place during our recent stay at the Arrabelle at Vail. Its a short 1 minute walk from Arrabelle. The place itself is a small takeout shop and has a small Blue seating bench outside (which can seat 4 comfortably). Service is fast and friendly and pizza slices are out within 2 minutes. The pizza itself was amazing. I tried the pepperoni slice and it was one of the best slices of pizza I have ever had. The crust was crunchy and thick - exactly as I like. and I topped it with Hot Honey sauce they had and garnished with some chilli flakes. It was bomb ! They also had daily specials but I couldn't try more items as I was pretty full after 2 slices of pepperoni. A big Thumbs up and 5 stars ! read more

Came here while in vail for a wedding, and oh my gosh! It may have been the best pizza I've ever had. The crust was so good. The sauce/toppings everything!!! Even my dad said so (and he's hard to please)y husband also got wings (huge) and delicious. It was a little expensive- but I think it was worth it! It's a walk up to the counter- order kind of place, no seating inside, but there's tables around. We went in the office season so there was no wait and tables available. Starving for pizza, we decided to try Vail's only Detroit pizzeria and were NOT disappointed at all. Alpine is top-notch. First, the Detroit pizza is spot-on with a crunchy parmesan crust, gooey cheese and tangy tomato racing stripes. We also got the pie of the day: Korean shortribs and banana peppers - we assumed it would just be a novelty try, but it was really good, a nice mix of sweet and savory beef mixed with sharp peppers. We also got a Caesar salad, wings (grilled) and brussel sprouts - each unique and good in its own way. All this is to say that we would go back to Alpine Pizza in an instant; not only the best pizza in Vail, but good enough to go toe-to-toe with any other pizza out there. read more

During a long weekend stay, I had Alpine Pizza Co. twice. Yes it's that damn good. Probably some of the best pizza I've had in my pizza eating journey. During our stops we tried their Pizza of the Day options which were the Buffalo Chicken and the Caprese. Add the hot honey, can't go wrong. Also their in-house hot sauce is worth it. I most recently got the lunch combo with their spinach white pie with ricotta cheese and garlic confit and a side of hot honey Brussel sprouts with a Dr Pepper. Average size, juicy meat, and a deliciously sweet, tangy, and spicy gold sauce. Gotta get this with the ranch. Caesar salad: Large, could easily be split by three people or devoured by one hungry individual. Perfectly-sized pieces of lettuce, refreshing dressing, and nice peppery flavor. Detroit-style pizza: Phenomenal. Usually a fan of thin-crust, but this was one great pie. The crust was cracklingly crispy (especially those edge pieces), the cheese and marinara weren't excessive, and the pizza didn't flop. Order this pizza. Delish Detroit style pizza and cheesy bread! We had the cheese pizza: perfectly seasoned, perfect dough consistency, excellent cheese to sauce ratio. Loved it. We had the cheesy bread: To me, this was the BEST part of this meal. I didn't read the menu so I don't know exactly what the ingredients were, but maybe some pesto? It was DEVINE. We had the Caesar salad: very good. Tasted like there were anchovies in the dressing (yum!) as an fyi we got our meal to-go and the salad dressing was already tossed and it was on the heavier side. We discovered this place on our last day in Vail. Actually we didn't discover it, we ate here as a "last resort" due to 4th of July parade making everything chaotic. Boy o boy did we miss out. I saw French dip on their Instagram profile and was immediately intrigued. We ordered the quesabirria pizza to go and it did not disappoint. The braised beef was awesome and so cool to have the Au Jus to dip it in. They usually have a different specialty pizza besides a couple regulars and the infamous Normy wings. You can find the special of the day on their Instagram profile. They also sell slices to go of different flavor pizzas. It's a very yummy Chicago deep dish style started by some awesome locals. These dudes are doing things right on Vail with their creations. They have a nice menu and some staple pies which you can purchase the pie or by the piece. They are using the Sicilian pizza style and it has a wonderful crunch to both the bottom and edges that you would expect. What you need to do is ask "what is the pie of the day"? We asked and and we received...homemade sausage, jalapeño with drizzle of habanero infused honey. It was a great combination of flavors with the honey bringing home a spice that you would not expect when you think of habanero. The honey had all sweetness you would expect, but there were added flavors of the habanero that did not fry your tastebuds yet gave a little kick! We asked if there were any vegetarian options and the guy behind the counter rudely said "don't you see the menu?" .... When we asked about the Broccoli Cheddar Pizza shown on yelp, he curtly replied no, maybe a long time ago. Clearly we were not welcome and there felt an element of racism in his voice.
