I showed up to the store and I was oblivious to the signs that say "no masks are allowed". I accidentally wore my mask out of courtesy. I then went up to a gentleman, I didn't catch his name, and asked him do you guys have any 9mm and he said "Nope" with a condescending tone. As I was talking to him I was wearing a mask and he then proceeded to lecture me that every time anybody has a mask on it makes him just wanna pull his gun because it makes him nervous and then started to touch something along his waist. Best gun shop in Stanislaus County. Got my Gen 3 Glock 23 brand new out the box from here. Very friendly staff. Excellent stock in ammo and prices aren't too shabby either. Ordered online, went to shop to take FSC that same day and they gave me my order slip plus pick up day for my glock. 10 days later, low and behold, I arrive to pick up my firearm and the wait was literally only 15 minutes. Ofcourse I made sure to go on a Tuesday in the morning so that might have been a reason for the super speedy service. Best $540 investment I've made so far. When a store only has two or three customers and they make you grab a number. What a joke! Do not do business with alquist arms. Four months ago I ordered a p938 and was told it would be in within 2 weeks, 4 weeks later I reversed the charges and went down to PRK in Fresno. Yes, PRK is more expensive (about 8 percent more across the board) but they usually have a better inventory and can order and deliver faster. Because I believe in supporting local business; I gave Alquist a second chance and ordered a Springfield xds... I was told I could DROS within the week; more lies and delays. Two weeks later I was finally allowed to DROS, and they put me (the whitest guy you have ever met) down as Vietnamese on the form. I was told that it wasn't important and to just sign the paperwork. After a phone call with the CA DOJ, I was informed that by signing the form I committed a misdemeanor which will be investigated. Thank God Prk arms is opening a store here in Turlock; atleast when I buy a gun from them I don't get investigated by the CA DOJ! read more

Since they are closed on Monday, it makes Tuesday is a little busy. Wednesday and Thursday are usually not as busy. Because of their low prices, crowds can gather. As other said, look carefully right inside the door for the 'take a number' tab. They do take trade-ins and their one guy that does those transactions is there most days. You can check their website online chat feature for instant answer to questions, like is this a good day to bring a trade in. You can also buy online in advance, including ammunition. This is a great place to buy a gun. Wish I heard of them sooner, though. I bought my first gun elsewhere in the central valley, and a week later, I found these guys on facebook selling the same gun for $40 cheaper! Love how they keep updated prices (usually cheaper than other shops) on their facebook page and are quick to respond to inquiries. I finally visited the new shop today, and it was overall a good experience. It's really helpful that the prices of each handgun are visible, so you don't need to ask about each gun like some other places. Yes, it was busy the whole time during my visit, but their number system is very helpful. Once I was being helped, the whole paperwork/buying process was smooth and quick. They also sponsor events and donate guns for raffles to support groups like the American Mining Rights Association. read more

I just received my first covid shot and was wearing my mask to protect and respect others. I waited in line at the door for 20 minutes to be called in and while there noticed a sign prohibiting the wearing of a mask. I have some friends that have lost there lives to covid and find it difficult to believe that a gun shop is so unpolitically correct that they cannot protect the public. So, if you want to object yourself to a closed room with employees not willing to protect you, this is the place. I turned around and walked out without buying the pistol scope I'd wanted. After searching online for weeks, I wound up on Alquist Arms web page. They had exactly what I was looking for. I made the purchase on their web site which was very straight forward and easy. Next day I received an email that my order was ready and to come in. I drove 85 miles from Hayward to Turlock to do my paperwork. Richard, who I now know is the owner is a really nice guy and extremely helpful and pleasant. The shop is run well and during covid, only 3 people in at a time for service as I noticed. Prices are very good compared to a lot of other places that are over charging during the pandemic. Buyer Beware!!! 95380 So I went to Alquist Arms today to pick up something that I had purchased about 10 days ago. I called ahead of time and spoke with the owner who assured me that what I had paid for 10 days ago was ready to be picked up. I drive directly there after work, which took me an hour and a half due to traffic and I arrived about 10 minutes before closing. I am then told that they need proof of residency. And no, My drivers license was not good enough. The bills that I have in my name, are not written exactly like it is on my license. I could however give them a rental agreement, which my roommate who mind you was in the middle of working, dropped what he was doing and was in the process of getting the rental agreement to me as quickly as he possible could. While I am in the process of trying to get this resolved, the owner is pacing back and forth and saying how he has been working all day and how he has a long drive to get home and how he has stops to make before he gets home and how he has to be at work tomorrow for hours and how he is only making $40 off of my purchase. I began to speak to him about how this could have all been avoided if he had just told me the issue before I arrived. He proceedes to tell me that informing me ahead of time would have been a waste of his time and effort. Like this whole fiasco wasn't??? I told him that I would like a refund and that I would not be back and that I would tell as many people as possible not to shop there, to which he replied "that's okay, I already have too much business". read more

They were not very accomodating for FFL transfers. Did not seem patient with any basic questions. I just felt like a waste of their time, which is not fun especially having driven 30+ miles to be brushed off as an annoyance. Law Enforcement would be wise to try another shop for off-roster equipment. The older man was kind and understanding, but he is not the owner. I can't comprehend how they get so many raving reviews. The two times I had visited have both been poor experiences. Maybe these were off days for them. If you don't know exactly what you want or how to get it, they don't have time for you. Best and cheapest gun store around!! It is well worth the drive to come see. Pull a number on your way in and be patient because they do get very busy and sometimes it may take a while to get to you. Only bad thing about it is that there is nowhere to sit and wait so you have to walk around the store with a whole bunch of people just standing around. Or... You can avoid the hassle and go Wednesday or Thursday they are usually very slow and you will be helped as soon as you walk in. I buy all my guns from Bobby. The staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly. They can order a gun for you just in case they don't have the one that you are looking for in stock but keep in mind you are at the mercy of the dealers and shippers on a timeline, usually they receive the special orders within a week so I wouldn't worry. It's quite a drive to go down to Turlock but this place is well worth it. Great selection on both handguns and long guns which are mainly brand new at this location. Quite a bit of wait as well to be serviced. Do remember to pull a number tab before you go in even if you just wanted to look around as you will need it if you want them to pull an item out of the display case. GREAT prices on most of their items and as of right now, in-store purchases have a sales tax of 7.63%. If you have a pricey item to buy and Alquist has it, it is normally discounted in price plus you pay a lower sales tax. Btw, you can also park on the street before you turn into their lot. Funny how people are waiting in their cars for other cars to back out and the street is open for only 25 more steps. read more

I have been here a few times looking at the rifles they have. The first couple of visits, the customer service was something to be desired but lately the service was nothing but great. The staff are knowledgeable and respectful. They have a huge variety of shotguns, handguns, botl action rifles and semi auto rifles.
