No food pics before we threw our Italian beefs away. The worst I've ever had . We went here directly from the airport when we touchdown in Chicago and that was the worst mistake we made. We should've just stuck with Portillo's.

Would've given 3.5 stars if I could. I think it's highly dependent on what you get. If you get a sandwich, I'd round up to 4 stars. If you get one of the equivalents of loaded fries, I'd go 3 stars. And the only reason for that being the portions. I think you get your value for the sandwich, but not for the other. The beef itself is decent though, regardless of how you get it served.

GOT BEEF? If you have beef wth this restaurant, it's a good thing! Sandwiches stuffed with heaps of meat and other fixings piled into a French-type bread roll. The meat is slighty greasy, in a good way, keeping the moisture in the meat. The bread is thick and a little chewy to give it a nice bite. I got my sandwich not "dipped". Dipped consists of the whole sandwich being dunked in the au jus. The sandwich is doused with flavor but the b read also becomes very soggy. I didn't opt for soggy bread, I'm not practicing for the Nathan's Hot Dog-eating contest. In other regions of the country, this form of sandwiches are call Subs, submarine sandwich, hoagie, hero, grinder, spuckie, po' boy. No matter where you are from, you can call it good eats!

We ordered the regular Italian beef sandwiches with peppers. The person at the register was friendly and the order came out very quickly. The sandwich had a unique flavor with a light spice. The beef was thinly cut and easy to eat. The peppers added to the flavor of the sandwich. If you are in the area this place is worth stopping by for a sandwich.

Absolutely incredible Chicago dog! My first one but I must say it was delicious. Also cheap. I think this plus fries was around $7.

It is one of the best places in Chicago to get an Italian beef sandwich and a Chicago hot dog. The service was very quick and the staff was very nice and friendly. It's a small place, so seating is limited, but there was a counter area and a small patio area to sit as well. I personally think the small restaurants are the best places to go, they always have the best food. I will be back next time I am in town.

mmm my dog and fries were perfect for thinking time. ate in silence. dog and fries do enough sweet talking. glory and power. dreams and shooting stars. lilo and stitch.

The question is, would the person who made this crap, appreciate someone giving them this crap???

My boyfriend and I ordered from Grubhub. He loves Al's. I don't. You'll learn why. Typically the burgers are overcooked. I wrote a note to assuage that concern. I never considered for one moment that they'd send slop! I couldn't even enjoy my food, thinking about pigs at troughs and I suppose Al's identified me as one of them!

Favorite Italian beef in the city. I love how they make there giardineria peppers and of course it's fast. The fries are fresh cut but greasy. They're OK, but a little nacho cheese makes them better. You're welcome.

it was for chicago Italian beef it was ok. a good solid average middle ground. The bread was soft and the beef juicy. the service here was good. The street parking was plentiful.

I ordered a regular Italian beef sandwich not dipped with hot peppers and provolone. The sandwich was soft and easy to eat. The meat was thinly sliced and had a unique taste. This was my first time trying this style of sandwich and I am happy that I stopped at this place. If you are in the area I recommend stopping here .

Hard to describe but you just know you're at a very important place but that doesn't take itself too seriously. There are burgers that are good, burgers that are great, and then there's Au Cheval. I went in with pretty ridiculous expectations considering this place has been called one of the best burger spots in the world...and somehow, the burger still delivered. That's rare. The patties were insanely juicy and perfectly cooked, with that beautiful crispy, caramelized edge you want from a great griddle burger. The combination of the melted cheese, creamy sauce, onions, pickles and that ridiculously buttery brioche bun was borderline unfair. Rich, messy, salty, savory and completely indulgent in the best possible way. And that bun deserves its own mention. Soft enough to absorb all that glorious burger juice without completely falling apart. The whole thing is constructed like someone actually understands what makes a burger great. Is it the best burger I've ever had? I DONT FUCKING KNOW. but I completely understand why people put Au Cheval in the conversation for best burger in America, if not the world. The hype is real. This is a fucking burger. 9.7/10

There is outdoor seating under a pergola lined with semi-private planters, while the inside features a bar, high tops, low tops, and large booths. The music was upbeat, giving the space an elevated lounge vibe that pairs really well with the upholstered booths and vintage industrial design. I ordered the Wolf Burger, which is a whopping three-patty burger. That first bite was juicy and pure bliss--a total explosion of great flavors. It was a little messy (like all burgers with an egg), but the extra liquid was perfect for balancing the density of such a meaty burger. The soft bun soaked in a lot of those juices with each bite, intensifying the flavor as I ate more. The fries were thin and on the greasier side--not my personal favorite, but they worked alright as a vehicle for the sauce. Speaking of which, the chili aioli served with the fries was fantastic. We also got the mac and cheese, which hit a great balance between rich and creamy without feeling excessively wet. The boat it came in was a bit small, making it a little messy to scoop out with the serving spoon, but it was soooo good. Overall, it is absolutely a fantastic neighborhood place for comfort food and drinks with friends in a great space!
