    Double cheeseburger with bacon

The Queen and I decided to stop here for dinner before our movie at The Alamo. This was my first visit a Small Cheval, so my expectations of what I thought we would walk into did not include seeing a room that looked like a regular bar in Wrigleyville. As you enter the establishment, there is a counter where you place your order. To the right of that is a small full service bar. The room is kinda tight on space, with the tables being somewhat close to together. The Queen and I opted to sit at the end of bar where there were two seats separated from the main bar. We both ordered burgers and I got fries and somehow that came to $48, While they were good they were not $48 good. I guess we did not know that all of the stuff we thought would come with a cheeseburger would be extra. Not blaming the restaurant per se as I should have questioned why it was much. The bartender was nice and very accommodating. Because of the set-up of the business, I did not know we were supposed to get our own water at a station that was set up near the stairs to the second floor. I didn't see the station until after we had ordered drinks. He could have easily pointed us over to the station to get our own, but he brought over two glasses of water for us, plus our drinks. The bar has a good selection of adult beverages, including prosecco, as well as milkshakes. While not a bad experience, for what we paid for food, most likely I would not stop in here again when Billy Goat is down the street.

Words can't describe how badly I crave a Small Cheval burger every day. Possibly my favorite meal in Chicago, this spot has perfected the craft of the burger. I came back twice in my one week visit to Chicago. The burger is so deliciously cheesy, the patty so moist and perfectly seasoned. Buns were soft and stayed dry despite the delicious sauces and cheese sandwiched inside. Fries are skippable at this location as they're a bit thicker than at the Riverside location, although I would recommend asking for the garlic aioli to dip your burger in.

I was visiting Chicago and we wanted to grab some drinks and a bite to eat before a comedy show later that night, so we decided to check out Small Cheval since Au Cheval was likely super busy. We arrived at the area foolishly believing we could snag street parking, but after circling for about half an hour, we decided to park at a lot across the street from Wrigley. It was my first time in the area, and the neighborhood seemed very lively, filled with young people hanging out on a Friday night. We walked over to Small Cheval and were happy to grab an empty table. QR code menus, attentive service, and good company overall. We each ordered a burger (I ordered the Wagyu truffle burger, everyone else ordered the signature), truffle fries for the table, and some aioli sauce, Casamigos tequila, and chocolate milkshakes lol. Thoughts? The truffle burger was good! However, for the price, and trying out the signature burger (which was half the price), I would stick with the signature. Same with the truffle sauce with the fries...nothing beats the original aioli sauce. The chocolate shake was pretty thick, and difficult to sip, but still delicious. We received A+ service. Someone dropped their last bottle of Casamigos in the back, so our server upgraded the tequila brand on the house for us for our second round of shots. So nice of them. The only thing I wish we did differently was check out the rooftop. One of the girls in our group was cold, so we decided to stay indoors. Next time though!

Catching up on Yelp reviews as I visited the Wrigleyville location back in April before the Purdue/Northwestern baseball game at Wrigley. Wow has Small Cheval really expanded over the years! I've eaten at the Wicker Park, West Loop Gate, and Old Town locations before and unfortunately this one was probably the worst location I've eaten at. The place was super nice and it looked brand new (probably because it was). This location is pretty different as it's sit down with waiters, it has a full bar, and some different menu items. We sat upstairs and the place is pretty big. I ordered the Double Cheeseburger with Manny's Pastrami and fries and my usual vanilla shake. The burger was solid as usual, but the pastrami came out cold, which was bad. It seemed like it was either frozen or refrigerated, which makes sense as it was a collab with Manny's. Fries are solid and their cheese sauce is actually really good. Vanilla shake was good as usual and you can make it boozy if you desire, which is awesome. Service was bad at this place. It was quite an adventure/fiasco for when they brought out the food. They mixed up all of the fries orders and they charged us for two extra burgers on the order. But the staff was friendly about it and corrected the issue. The disconnect seemed to be that the runners didn't know who ordered what as the waiter wasn't with them when the food was served. Prices are similar like the other locations. Expensive burger that is a big portion size; however, give me the smaller Shake Shack burger as I think the ingredients are superior. You can split the bill using a QR code, which is nice, but Small Cheval is now officially commercialized. Overall, this is a nice addition to Wrigleyville as it has a full bar with super nice digs. But Small Cheval is good every once in a while and IMO not worth the hype or price.

Great little location. Convenient if you already have parking in the area or don't need parking. We were in the neighborhood mid day on a weekday so we did not have to wait for seating. We opened to sit at the bar and it was a good experience. Burgers are great, as are fries. One order was enough for two of us to share. Food seems to be made fresh with quality ingredients. The prices were fair and not unexpected. Lots of beer and seltzer options. Service was friendly and prompt. Worth checking out.

I've been wanting to try Small Cheval for a long time now. I would say Au Cheval has the best burgers in the city, and was hoping Small Cheval would be similar but it's not even close. This location is conveniently located outside Wrigley, but I made the mistake of trying to eat here before a Sox vs Cubs game. There was a long line with a 20 minute wait just to sit down. We ended up skipping the line and just did takeout, but it was still a 20 minute wait until takeout orders were ready. Despite the wait, the staff still had smiles and were really friendly while we waited for our food. They even offered us a glass of water. The burger was delicious, I'll give them that. I ordered their double cheeseburger. It came with plenty of cheese but ir sucks to have "Cheval" in your name because it's always going to be compared to its bigger brother. The burger was still hot by the time we ate it inside Wrigley and also ordered fries with their garlic aioli. The fries are thin but still tasted good with the sauce. I can definitely see myself returning but only on the Cubs away games or their off days.

The restaurant was pretty empty. It was 3 pm, and I'm guessing majority of their customers stopped by before the start of the game. This small cheval location has plenty of seating on the first floor. The second floor had their windows/walls open with seating on the inside and few outside. We chose to sit on the first floor to watch and listen to the cubs game. You order and pay with the QR code, and they bring over the food as it's ready. My $8.75 cheeseburger in lettuce bun was delicious. I regretted not making it a double. I subbed the bun for lettuce just because the option was offered. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of lettuce the burger was wrapped in. It made the burger easy to hold. I've had the in and out burger wrapped in lettuce (protein style), and that was a mess. I like refreshing crunch of the lettuce. The golden fries were truly freshly made and came out a beautiful golden color. The garlic aioli (no additional charge) went well with it. From my understanding, Green Street hot dogs are served at the Wrigleyville location on game days. I didn't order the cheddar jalapeño link with caramelized onions and spicy mustard but was told it's very good. I could smell the jalapeño coming off of the dog! Be careful of the juices with your first bite though. It comes out hot. Another game day perk is $8 Cruz Blanca beer and shot of either tequila or bourbon. It's a great deal considering regularly the same shot alone is $8. You can also request a pickleback! The service was excellent here, and all the food came out quick and hot. I'll definitely be coming back on a game day to try out their hot dogs.

I've heard a lot of good things about Small Cheval and now that they opened one in Wrigley, I had to try it. This location has a super cute second floor with a patio, but of course it was fully rented out for an event when we went. This place has a good veggie burger, but I wouldn't come back here. The single patty burger is $9 and the veggie burger is $14. $5 more for a veggie patty??? That's insane! That doesn't even include cheese either so the burger ended up being $15, so $6 more. And it was good but I promise it was not that good!

We popped in here before going to a Cubs game. It was the perfect spot for a pregame burger and beer. I went with the signature double and it was absolute fire. One of my favorite burgers I've had in a while, and it was only 10 bucks. The fries were pretty good as well, but the garlic aoli steals the show *chefs kiss* Also went with the classic beer and a shot special for $7. Best way to prep for a day game in my opinion! Service and ambiance was also great. Highly recommend this place.

I held my delicious burger over the balcony, as one would do with a blizzard from Dairy Queen and the burger stayed intact! kudos to you Small Cheval! keep on showing Wrigleyville what you're made of!

Seat yourself restaurant. The servers were amiable, but the food did take a while to come out. They have two floors, the first has more of a diner feel and the second is much calmer with booths as seating options. It is a nice place for a less fancy and customizable meal. The fried chicken sandwich was very well seasoned & crispy. The fries were also cooked well & had a good taste. A good dinner option if you are nearby exploring Wrigleyville. And then I recommend you get dessert at Jeni's ice cream next door after.

Do not recommend bad reputation. Needs better customer service and the ambiance is terrible. There's better places. Food is not worth it

Strongly recommend the patio upstairs during summer time. Well known for their burgers. We also had a pitcher of beer. Friendly service.

Vibes inside are excellent and drinks are (very) boozy with a variety of booths, tables, and bar seating available. Burger with Egg and Bacon (4.25/5): Look, this is a great burger. Bacon is melt in your mouth and the egg adds a bit of creamy richness on top of the fatty, salty beef and cheese combo. The bread bun is pillowy, but I wouldn't wait in a line for hours for this. Bone Marrow (10/5): Now I would wait in line for hours for this bone marrow dish that absolutely changed my life. This comes with 4 HUGE pieces of bone marrow that you spread over fluffy, perfectly toasted Texas toast and pair with a beef cheek marmalade that exactly rides the line between sweet and savory. If you come here without ordering this, you're missing out big time. Green Salad (4/5): Nice, fresh and I needed some fiber. Nothing mind blowing, but a good change of pace. Crispy Fries (4/5): Very lightly crispy fries (reminiscent of light well for the west coasters), but the sauces are where this shines. Garlic aioli and mornay sauce (think white gravy) were rich, thick, and excellent! Key Lime Pie (4.25/5): Whipped cream on this INCREDIBLE, wish you could just order a bowl of that. I think they serve it slightly warmer than fridge temp (cool not cold) and it just melts on the tongue with really strong vanilla flavor. Pie itself is also good; nice strong tartness with the buttery and salty crust. Mille-Feuille (4.5/5): Chocolate sauce has a nice depth of flavor with the shattering crisp of the pastry. Pastry cream was a lot thicker than I expected, but super rich and delicious. Definitely a dessert to share.

We put our name in and were told the wait would be about an hour. When I checked back after an hour, the greeter couldn't tell me how much longer it would be, only that they were trying to squeeze us in between reservations. Had we known that from the beginning, we would have chosen to eat somewhere else. When we were finally seated, we were placed outside at a table that was noticeably slanted. Even our waitress apologized for the uneven table. To make matters worse, the table was in direct sunlight, making it an uncomfortable dining experience.
