Dr. Groh discovered that my previous dentist had TWICE misdiagnosed a condition I have. The former dentist said, first, it was a faulty crown. At a second visit, he said no, it's gum recession. I didn't act right away because gum grafts are a big deal and I wasn't having pain. Then former dentist stopped taking UT Delta. I found Alta Dental. Dr. Hannah Groh is smart, really knows her stuff, and kind The whole team is great. Before getting a treatment, they go through all the related expenses to make sure everyone's on the same page. They are also very sensitive to budget concerns. The building is a down-at-the heels and the waiting area small, but the quality of the dentist, assistants, and technology is excellent. I don't need fancy digs to know I'm in the right place. read more

I have visited so many dentist offices and I am happy to say I will never go to another office again. Alta dental has the best and most kind staff that I have encountered. They have their own insurance in house and they do amazing work. They open their office and stay open after hours so that they are able to help people as much as possible. Is it normal to look forward to your dentist appointments?? Not only do I look forward to them, but I have two dentist offices within a 2-3 minute walk of my downtown apartment and yet I gladly drive to my appointments at Alta Dental. When I relocated to Austin, I stumbled upon their office on ZocDoc- I'm so glad I did!!! I have been seen by both Dr. Arif and Dr. Adjan - I've never felt more comfortable. Stephanie and the rest of the team make me feel so welcome and their positive attitudes brighten my day. Their office is spotless and relaxing. They even asked me what music I liked so that a pandora station of my choosing plays while I'm in my room during appointments! Amazing. I would definitely recommend this office and staff to any friend (or stranger!) here in Austin. read more

I've been in Austin all of my life and have always dreaded the dentist. I have bad genetics when it comes to cavities and teeth health in general & I've always felt pain during fillings. I swear I felt NO pain and I appreciate how communicative the staff is. Dr Groh is so nice and very personal! Jacob was great to talk to, he really occupied my mind and let my worries wash away. Jacob & Dr Groh made a great team and were both so kind to me. Overall, I had an amazing experience and I won't be going anywhere else now! Scheduled an appointment and they couldn't even see me because they were running 2 hours behind. Of course they didn't bother to call and tell me in advance so I drove across town in traffic and sat in their waiting room for 30 minutes before they bothered to tell me they couldn't actually see me that day. read more

The billing department here is atrocious. I paid out of pocket and got a letter from my insurance stating they paid them as well. I contacted Alta to get a refund. I have never liked going to the dentist but this office truly changed my mind, everyone was incredibly nice and constantly checked in to make sure I was doing okay. Unbelievable! I paid thousands of dollars for Invisalign and cosmetic dentistry with Dr. Chelsea Diamond and loved her. Sadly this office is run by horrible leadership and admin staff. For every ten times I called the office I only received one callback and would have to call repeatedly to get basic information about my appointments and care. I spoke with Dr. Diamond about this and she agreed it was a problem and that the office isn't great about returning calls but that there was nothing that she could do about it. Bad customer service aside I was making good progress with my Invisalign treatment and on the day that I was to have my bumpers removed and transition into more trays/a maintenance plan the receptionist took 20 minutes to take my payment because she mischarged me and needed to refund me and then recharged me and she then proceeded to mischarged me three more times. Sorting all of this out took time (I was fine with that; life happens) and by the time we had sorted out the accounting (20 minutes later) I was informed that even though I had flown from California for this appointment Dr. Diamond was on medical leave and wouldn't actually be the provider seeing me (I had called two times the week prior to confirm that Dr. Diamond would be the provider seeing me and no surprise, I received no callback from the receptionist) and I was then told that the contracted dentist de jour that was on staff would not be able to see me that day because she had to rush off to catch a plane and the 20-minute payment delay was the reason I couldn't be seen. This would have been nice to know before I flew to Texas from California and paid Alta Dental $1,500 to finish my treatment plan. The receptionist Stephanie refused to let me speak with the dentist or the office manager and the only option they gave me was to email Ashley the office manager who has never responded to me. I repeatedly requested my records and Stephanie the receptionist shared with me that they did not have them and that I needed to leave the office; then she called the cops to escort me out of the office without a conversation about the treatment plan, without rescheduling me or providing my records. When the cops arrived the cops clarified that this was a civil matter and that I had done nothing wrong. When I called the office to follow up on my three emails I was hung up on by Christina who said Ashley had received my emails and she did not know when or if Ashley would reply to me or honor my request for a phone call to sort this out. My 6 months of treatment and thousands of dollars paid to Alta Dental have now been a total waste of time and money because without the maintenance trays and my last tray breaking after a month of continued use (10 days is the typical max for these trays) my teeth have gone back to their original state but I have the unsightly bumpers on, jaw pain and misalignment from all the misalignment that is impacting my sleep not to mention the digestive issues from my bite and inability to chew food properly. Completely traumatic and I am now out of thousands of dollars and have been advised to get a lawyer by other orthodontists in the area. Alta Dental is not the place to go for your dental needs other than basic X-ray . I went there initially to get x ray and diagnosis for a tooth ache. I was taken in immediately and received a diagnosis --I needed a root canal and they had a specialist for it--according to the Doctor. I proceeded to take payment information and indicated I would call back for an appointment as they couldn't see me until a month from the time. I was in excruciating pain and could not wait a month therefore saw a dentist in another city for temporary relief. I called back two weeks after and they scheduled me to see the specialist. I arrived at the apt 30min ahead of time only to be waiting another 45min past my scheduled apt. I had to leave as I had another apt scheduled and had driven 3 hrs from my hometown for that. They said they do not acknowledge appointments bc they do not know how long the doctor will take so you will have to wait around until the doctor is done. I was very disappointed as they had already done my X-rays previously and knew my concerns. I asked to reschedule and they rescheduled me for another two weeks. The week of my second appointment I received a text message three days prior to my appointment indicating my appointment had been cancelled. That is extremely unprofessional and maybe even negligence as they were adamant that my tooth situation was severe when I first went for my X-rays. I called the office and sure enough they cancelled my appointment because they think I should see a different doctor that can satisfy my expectations. Now I have to wait for a new appointment all while my tooth has been in need of attention for the last month. I did not delay the process as I immediately seemed attention when I began to feel pain. Do NOT go to Alta Dental if you are expecting professional care , timelines , preparedness, and responsible staff. read more

Absolutely Love this place! Great people and even better service. I came in a few weeks ago to get my Invisalign done and couldn't be happier with the result so far. As a college student just entering the real world, they handled my case very professionally and have held my hand throughout the whole process.
