I had to verify my insurance 3x with them on the phone and submitted online and then when I show up they said they didn't have my insurance verified and I needed to come back later bc the online submission dosent work. They didn't give me the courtesy of a phone call to tell me this beforehand like most organized places would. Made me show up and wait then tell me they didn't verify it and come back hours later for my cleaning. They also called me to confirm my appt then called me back about 10 min later to say the appt is cancelled and they need to move it not realizing they had just called me to confirm it. They are a mess here and you feel kinda like a number to them. Not to mention I felt like they were pressuring me to get services done same day and they didn't consult me on using a fluoride product before they just stained my teeth with it. General Dentistry, crowns implants etc. Dr. Peterson was great wonderful. The staff after the pandemic is horrific. They are rude, incompetent & hostile. They have improperly filed insurance so that a crown for a cracked tooth was denied as not necessary. Then turned me over to collections before even sending me a bill. I paid it! Still waiting on them to correct it! I had 3 dentists (2 retired) at castle over 15+ years. The dentists were great. Now I will be leaving Castle. BOTTOM LINE: Castle Dental wanted to do a lot of unnecessary work for a lot of money, and the real problem wasn't even found! Even one star is way too much for this office. After numerous appointment cancellations by Castle Dental, my 25-year-old daughter was allowed into the place. The result was a very long list of services needed that would have cost her over $3,000 even AFTER insurance. And the list was filled with ridiculous charges for services which, we have discovered, she did not need. How about an $83 charge for oral irrigation (not covered by insurance). $83 to squirt a bit of water in your mouth? And then there were 10 charges for "DESENSITIZING RE" at $125 each, also not covered by insurance. Our first thought was that these were for numbing shots, but if so, they would have been covered by insurance at least partially and why 10?! There was an "ENHANC COSMETIC" fee of $345, also not covered by insurance even though my daughter had not asked for any cosmetic work. But here's the worst part: I had my daughter go to my dentist for a second opinion. SHE DOESN'T NEED ANY OF WHAT CASTLE DENTAL WANTED TO DO. FURTHERMORE, THEY FAILED TO FIND A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH A TOOTH THAT WILL REQUIRE A ROOT CANAL!!! None of the services identified by Castle Dental are needed in any way, shape or form. And in case you want to blow that off by thinking that my dentist just wanted to make some money with the root canal, she doesn't do root canals! She gets paid for the examination of my daughter's teeth and that's it. read more

When I call, they tell me the dentist doesn't work after 12....frustrating front office staff. Would NOT recommend going. I previously went to a different location and had a horrible experience and this location was like a breath of fresh air. I started my Castle Dental adventure in Bastrop, see a separate review of that location. They gave me a list of Castle Dental locations that have endodontists and oral surgeons since they don't offer those services in Bastrop. It took two weeks to get an appointment for the endodontist who told me the tooth was broken so I needed an extraction. They scheduled me for a consultation with the Oral Surgeon one week later. Called me 45 minutes before scheduled appointment to cancel due to an "emergency". They said they couldn't reschedule me and I said what do you mean I have two teeth that need to get pulled. The answer was call back in April. In short Castle Dental is not affordable, nor do they have a full staff. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

Probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced. To start, they NEVER answer their phones. I've spent hours attempting to speak to someone and have either not had the call answered at all OR they have put me on hold and then never came back. I recently attempted to make an appointment and called numerous times - leaving multiple messages... nobody ever got back to me. I then went to their website to book an appointment, I did this twice in a week and never heard back. I FINALLY got through to someone in their office and was able to book an appointment for two days from then. I called the next day to confirm the appointment time and they said no such appointment existed. Their next available appointment wasn't for another month. I then attempted to call a different location where the receptionist told me that there is no point booking appointments on their website because it doesn't even get through to the office. I'm not sure what the point of having that option is - but it's completely useless. I then was able to very easily make an appointment at a different dental office, however, they requested my x-rays from Castle dental. Again, after days of attempting to reach someone in their office, I was finally able to get through to someone to request these records. She sent me another person's files... it's concerning to know that they're sending out medical records without thoroughly checking through them to confirm they're being sent to the correct person. I've now called them multiple times again, attempting to get my files and have been unable to get anything done about it. I'll never go back. It's not worth the hassle. read more

This is not a legitimate dentists office. They scammed me good. First of all, the office itself is not somewhere that would indicate that it was a medical facility in the United States, and the staff is unprofessional and snarky. But anyway, I called their main number to set zip an appointment, and get a quote for a basic cleaning. The quote I received was very typical (about what I subsequently paid at a real dentists office). I DO NOT need any periodontal work whatsoever, and get regular cleanings. When I went in, I was told it would be slightly cheaper to get the third party dental plan which was under $100 and took care of enough of the cleaning to make it cheaper. WELL, I purchased the plan, got my exam, and when they gave me my cleaning estimate, it was over $600! So of course I refused, but still paid for the plan and got absolutely nothing for it. I then went to a real dentist, and paid about $150. TOTAL SCAM. read more

So I needed to have very difficult and extensive oral surgery done with a lot of after care appointments. The first dentist I saw at another CD location treated me in a very disrespectful manner and was just awful. So I chose to instead drive 30 to 40 minutes to this location. 100% worth it. Dr Peterson is so nice and really seems to care. She answers questions and most importantly gives her expert advice. She even intervened on my surgery plan in a way that saved me so much pain in the long term. Her staff were also amazing. Even before my first appointment I got a call from the incredibly kind Alma. Introducing themselves and just making me feel very welcome. My oral surgeon, Dr Robertson, was awesome too though I don't think he is based out of this location. I am very grateful to everyone at this Castle Dental. You turned something very negative into an amazing positive and I will always be so grateful. read more

How hard is it to get a crown right. So, I needed two crowns for two visible teeth, over time. The first permanent crown that came in from their lab looked wrong, and needed to be redone. Fine, apparently. I came in to have the replacement put in, along with a permanent crown for another tooth. Both looked wrong. I looked so awful, with a front tooth noticeably shorter than its counterpart, plus the other crown which they got wrong twice. Fortunately, they say I'll be reimbursed and I've got my temporary crowns in the meantime--the temporary crowns actually look the way Castle's permanent crowns should've looked in the first place. read more

This place is a miracle for me! I have pretty severe pts (d) concerning any medical procedures. I'm not scared of needles or the actual procedure, it's the feeling of being unsafe and confined is what's a nightmare. Dr Peterson and her staff (her assistant is amazing but I forgot her name-so sorry) are just too in tune and I've never met a groups of ppl this compassionate. Dr Peterson has a very direct approach and just knows how to take the reins and be strong for the sake of the anxiety situation/panic, and completing the procedure. She's the bomb. Her assistant I just love as she's extremely kind and gentle, and good at her job. There are not words to express what they mean to me as I hate having this. I wish I had read the reviews, however taking my son was more of an urgent situation and they were the only ones I could get a quick appointment with. My son broke a baby molar at school. I took him and they quoted me $1200! (plus filling 2 cavities) I told them I would not be able to swing $1200, the quote somehow, magically went down to $900 (which was still a lot in my mind) The original appointment was to have his broken tooth capped as to not let it get infected before actually falling out. During his appt, the dentist mentioned she might need to pull it instead of capping it, but she would let me know. She did not let me know. All of a sudden, she was wiggling her hand and pulling his tooth! Now, I went through their finance company for the $900. I asked for an itemized receipt because everyone keeps saying that is so much money for a pulled tooth and 2 cavities. The receipt total comes out to $786. I can't really argue with how much they charged me for this and that because I really have nothing to compare it to. However, I can argue that I have been financed for $900 and my total is $786. That is $114 credit owed to me. I have called them and shown up in person. They say it's the finance company's job to adjust the amount and the finance company says that Castle Dental financed me for $900 and that's that. So...still working on getting my $114 back and this has been 2 months. They are horrible to deal with and I would not recommend them at all. I have actually already had friends needing to take their kids to the dentist and I do the opposite of a recommendation. I say ANYONE but this place. I've been a Castle Dental patient for years and this is by far my favorite location, I will continue to go here. The office is in a newer building and it is kept very clean and sanitary. It is hard to give 5 stars to a dental office, they are painful, scary places for so many of us, so I'll be as honest as I can. Yes, they do encourage fluoride varnish and oral irrigation. But you can refuse those products and they are happy to explain why they encourage them. They are in business to make money but they also try to give quality service and care. I haven't felt "pressured" into anything; I ask and they answer. Simple as that. I have had a few minor billing mishaps and appointment reschedules, but nothing I haven't experienced at other dentists. It comes with the industry. Hygienist Lauren Olstad is fantastic, request her if you can. She's kind and gentle and she is happy to answer any questions and explain the process to you quite patiently. I can tell that she loves her job and she's really good at it too. Dr. Peterson is a young dentist, but she is pretty cool and has given me good advice. I hadn't expected such a young woman, but I've come to trust her. Overall I'm very happy with the staff there and my quality of care. I would recommend them. Cheers. read more

Literally "lost" my appointment. I scheduled extractions over 6 weeks ago, confirmed the appointment 3 days prior, received fasting instructions and confirmation. Show up the day of, on-time, and they can't find the appointment. Office manager, Sara, tells me that the lady that made the mistake won't explain what happened. They refer me to a different office/company. I have to contact them and schedule an appointment myself. Called a few offices before finding availability same-day. I show up to that appointment and Castle never sent my x-rays (the one thing they were supposed to do since I found the appointment on my own). Plus, this place doesn't offer payment plans so I can't afford the work I need done. The dentist, Dr Peterson, was great when I saw her but the admin is totally unprofessional and unorganized. The techs at this (much more professional) practice say they've worked for Castle before and this stuff is why they left. read more

Very appalled at the lack of customer service in this office. I called to set up a cleaning as a first time client. When I arrived they did x-rays and looked at my mouth then said I was done. No cleaning or explanation. The receptionist then said it was a $15 copay, $52 for cleaning that needed to be scheduled separately, and $209 for fillings. What a rip off. My plan covers preventative care but they did their best to up sell more services and get me to schedule more appointments at $15/ each. They have complete disregard for customer service and dictate what they choose to do on your office visit you pay for. I filed a complaint with my insurance company and Castle Dental. read more

Alma is amazing. After having to get in contact with corporate to start a resolution, Alma called me and was able to get everything back on track. Other than losing 2 days of work I shouldn't have, they were able to help me get my situation solved. When I actually got an appointment, I arrived at 7:50AM (my appointment) and was done shortly after. The oral surgeon was beyond fantastic. I was under for a while, woke up and was done. Haven't been in pain since then. The only issue is the pain meds they give me do not work well for me, but hoping to have that fixed on Monday. Absolute worst dental experience I have ever had. Just for background, I have had braces, headgear and other specialized orthodontal treatments and nothing was as unpleasant at the experience I had with 3 "small" fillings at this dentist. I am worried that the "cavities" that I had filled were not even cavities and were just drilled and filled so this dentist could bill back to insurance. The cavity filling procedure was extremely rushed, the dentist was distracted, and the overall experience was painful and they wouldn't even pause for me to rid the excess filling material from my mouth and throat. My mother received a coupon for a special on xrays and exam. She went in had xrays and exam and the dentist said she needs her teeth cleaned because she has a gum infection. I've been meaning to review this location for some time now, but only recently got Yelp and worked up the energy to relive my disappointment with this place. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I've gone twice. Both times the front desk receptionist and hygienist (a different one each time) were very talkative and friendly. Then, once you are in the chair, the sales pitches start coming. For example, I got a fluoride treatment I absolutely did not need during my first visit, because (woah!) I am used to trusting my health care providers. Since my insurance didn't cover it, it was out-of-pocket. I was really surprised when the receptionist rang me up, since there was no mention of the fact that insurance wouldn't cover this procedure. Mainly because I had already scheduled a next appointment at the end of my first one, and had forgotten to cancel it, I went a second time. After waiting for about a half hour, they told me they had an emergency with a client and asked me to come back an hour later. I am an understanding sort of person, so I agreed. I came back about an hour later, and had to sit for another fifteen minutes or so. Finally, I was led back in. Same sales pitch, different product, but I was smarter this time, and declined what I now felt was the unnecessary work they were trying to upsell me with (given my wariness over what happened the time before). Then, the hygienist said because I had been so patient with them that morning they would do it for free. I was reluctant, but she insisted. She said I needed the work, and here I am, offering it to you for free. By the way, a dentist never showed up to see me. When I got to the front counter, I saw that they had tried to pass the charges for the "free treatment" through to my insurance. They were going to charge me for it, then, and it took awhile for it all to get straightened out. The other sketchy thing about this place? They sent me bills for services I already had documentation insurance had paid. When I called to tell them that, they said they sent the bill "for my convenience." Hmmmm.... I will never, ever go to this location or any other Castle Dental again. From what I can tell by other Yelp reviews of other locations, this place doesn't care for the well-being of its patients and is only interested in making money. read more

First, the good: Accommodating and pleasant staff at front desk. Now for the bad. When you get to the back they up-sell you on things. Thing is, some of the up-sell items are for profit only and not really necessary. Read on for the suspected rip-off portion. I was the 1st family member to go when we were Cigna and everything was OK except they handed me a "rinse" (chlorhexidine) which I inquired about and turns out it was a $30 or so charge to me that ins. does not reimburse for. I can do my own rinses, thank you. My husband went next. They did a check up. then said a 2nd and 3rd visit were necessary for scaling and planing. OK, that seems reasonable since my husband is not good about his Q 6 months cleanings and has had gum problems in the past. Then they say a 4th visit for him for the cleaning - wait, seems a bit suspicious. Does it usually require 4 visits charged to ins. for this treatment with hundreds of dollars paid by us for our portion? No, not usually and his mouth was not really bad at all with pockets. He flosses daily, afterall. Up charges - rinse and then they had him pay like $35 for a bottle of chlorhexidine rinse. Then my son goes in. By this time our COBRA is out and we have privately bought health ins. but did not buy dental. We are doing the $25 visit with x-rays for new patients for first visit. They tell us that upon checking he has too deep of pockets and he will need scaling and planing for gingivitis before they will do a cleaning. Hmm. I heard them call the pockets. He had one "4" and a rare "3" and everything else a "2". He flosses. No bleeding, no swollen gums. Hmm. I say, know what, I will put him on a religious program (he is 18 yrs old) of flossing and Listerine and tooth brushing and we will come back for the cleaning. Fine, they say. We do this for 2 wks and return and they say that his "gum disease" is still too bad. My rip off antennae are twitching by now big time and we leave. I have them ship the x-rays over to a previous dentist which the front desk person was pleasant enough about. We see the dentist near our home and they give us a discount because we are cash/no insurance customers that pay in full (since ins. pays only a small portion of what cash patients pay, some places will do cash discounts if you pay in full). They do the examination; they measure his pockets; they do the cleaning; no up-sell; no extra charges; no warning to us about gum disease. I am sure that the ins companies will catch on to this eventually but they pay standard contracted amts. Ins companies run stats every once in a while to see whose care might be outside the norm for quality and cost. Castle is probably shooting themselves in the foot with these tactics but for right now they are selling franchises (?) and this business model like hot cakes. read more

Let me just start out by saying that I have not been to the dentist in about 6 years. I (as I'm sure most other people) do not enjoy going to the dentist and avoid it all costs. But unfortunately my back teeth were starting to get a little sensitive to cold liquids so I figured it was time to bite the bullet and go in. To my surprise, my experience here was amazing start to finish! I talked to/worked with about 5 people in the office and every single one of them made a positive impression on me. They were so patient and kind with me from insurance questions to actual procedures. The conversations I had with them were so natural and not forced at all. I felt so comfortable while I was in there. My teeth cleaning was a little uncomfortable but only because of a gum issue that I have. My dental hygienist, Beth, was so patient with me. She gave me a special paste to numb the sensitive areas and she took special notice to those areas the whole time. She was constantly making sure that I was ok and in no pain. I can't tell you what a relief is way to have someone that was so concerned about my well being. I'm sure the appointment took longer than they normally do, but only because she was so concerned about my well being. She had tons of great advice on how to help my problem areas and I am so grateful. All in all, this was a great experience and definitely alleviated my fear of going to the dentist in the future.
