A little high prices for the empanadas but they were nice a flaky. The chicken filling was so so, but the spicy beef was solid. Would be willing to come back to get some coffee because the interior is cool and it's a solid place to get some work done. There's always a library across the street so good location. read more

Well...I stumbled across this gem while getting a massage and decided today was a good day for an empanada. This is an argentine style spot with a plethora of not only empanadas but other pastries. I got the beef empanadas. Minor backstreet, a former co worker that once lived in Argentina used to tell me that anytime he had an empanada he would always get a little sad because the ones in Argentina were the best and he missed the flaky dough. Anytime I had an argentine empanada here in the states, I never understood what he meant. Now, I get it! These were flavorful and their dough was exactly as he described it. I ended up getting a sweet beef one too. The chimichurri is to die for and pairing both empanadas with an iced coffee was a great start to my Saturday. The interior was beautifully decorated. There are a few tables to sit down and eat. A few chairs if you are drinking a coffee (or smoothie). The desserts looked delicious and expertly prepared. We ordered four empanadas to split: Spicy Beef, Potato and Cheese, Chicken, and Spinach. The dough was flaky and melts in your mouth. The Spicy Beef did not have that much heat, but it hit the spot. The Spinach empanada melted in my mouth. The spices complemented each other. I got the feeling that they prefer you to take the food home. They asked three times and then I had to ask for plates, silverware. The dining area is small, so I understand that real estate is prime. My favorite people have opened a new location--and it's absolutely stunning! Both Andre and Natalie were here tonight. They are always super friendly, welcoming and I cannot wait to try it all. The inside- Sophisticated, spotless, and beautifully designed. Quaint, clean, and cute little place located in Castle Pines. There is plenty of parking. It is right across from the Castle Pines Library. The food is all made there, and it is delicious! I tried the beef empanada, the chicken empanada, the quiche and the alfajor cookie. The owner is friendly, and I was greeted warmly just 10 minutes before close asking if it was for here or to go. I ordered to go. But thought it was refreshing and completely out of the norm for a business that's getting ready to close for the night. The atmosphere is cozy, and clean. I saw a post about a brand new empanada restaurant in Castle Pines in the Facebook "Castle Rock Food and Drink" group and decided to pop in for a look as my wife and I headed to Pines Bar and Grill for dinner yesterday. The very nice young ladies behind the counter explained that it was their second day in business, so I decided to get four of their delicious-looking pastries to go, for today's lunch. I got one each beef, spinach, chicken and caprese empanadas. My wife chose the beef and caprese for her lunch today, while I had the chicken and spinach. As recommended by the owner's daughter, we heated them up at 375 for five minutes. They were delicious, as were the two sauces that were in the to go bag. The establishment is very nice with just a few tables, and a beautiful glass display case showing all their scrumptious pastries, from empanadas to tarts to pies and beyond. As I was leaving two gentlemen came in and said they were there for a glass of wine and to look at the menu, so it seems they have adult beverages as well. My wife and I agreed after our delicious lunch today that we'll keep this place in mind for our future trips to Castle Pines and Castle Rock. read more

This was our second visit to Alta to pick up dinner. Instead of finding the owner on a busy Saturday, there were two teens behind the counter who seemed very new and unsure of menu and register. Unfortunately, although I ordered 10 empanadas, only 7 were in the takeout bag - the Humitas were left out! We also ordered 2 tartas and a mango dessert (which was delicious)! When we got home, we could not tell which empanadas were particular flavors as the stamps had flaked off. For a $70+ charge, the value and service just wasn't worth it! read more

Not just a place for yummy empanadas! Food: I had a caprese empanada, and a limoncello cake. The empanada was wonderful--crispy, tasty and fresh with tomatoes, mozzarella and basil on the inside. Very flaky and delightful to eat. I haven't had many empanadas, but this one is the best I've eaten to date. The limoncello cake was also delicious. I'm a stickler for good frosting, and this lemon buttercream was light and not sickly sweet. It was very good. The cake was denser than I was expecting, but pleasantly moist and definitely homemade. 4.5/5 for cake. 5/5 for empanada. Service: Perfectly pleasant and helpful. No complaints here. 5/5 for service. Ambiance: Gorgeous interior with lovely wood slices on the walls. It looks like the owner had a vision and definitely stuck to it. Spacious for a cafe! I want to stress this is not just a place for empanadas. They had a very large bakery selection and that's something Castle Pines is lacking now that the cake shop is gone. Stellar empanadas. I don't review much but this place deserves it. The drive would be worth it even if not living in Castle Pines, CO. If you do happen to live in the Castle Pines area, the variety built into the fairly straightforward menu should trigger an instinct to try their food. If you think it is solid, it should be patronized often as this area needs to keep good restaurants in place and thriving. It's right off I-25 so why not? My wife and fickle five-year old all had empanadas. My kid loved her ham and cheese empanada. This is not an easy task. My wife and I tried many of the others. All were, as mentioned above, stellar. I was particularly impressed by the Caprese but I have a thing for basil. I'm a Memphis guy and the BBQ Chicken empanada had me doing that pretentious "oh they didn't f*#! that up" face. My bad. All the empanadas had a perfect, light, and fluffy pastry. It somehow stayed fluffy even at the pressed edges. I usually don't encounter that. My wife's favorite was the spicy beef, which had just the right kick. I will be back for the quiches and frittatas very soon. I have what you might call "a little bit of a weight problem" to quote Chris Farley. The desserts we had were very good as well but I've already put so much energy trying to make the empanadas sound sexy. All I have left in me is to state that the ambience was very clean and inviting. It had a coffee shop feel with much much better food options. Service was friendly and fast. I was disappointed there was no longer Oat Milk, only almond milk as an alternative. I left with an Americano and she kindly filed it with room temp water to heat a "kids temp" without any complaints. It was delicious! Light flaky crust and filling was medium spicy. The Tuna empanada was amazing and unique ( not fishy just lots of flavor) They also have a nice selection of desserts. I was over the moon to find an empanada restaurant in Castle Pines and made a beeline to this spot shortly after it opened. The restaurant is located directly across from the Castle Pines library. It is cozy. The display cases made me mouth water. My daughter and I ordered several empanadas to try, but were really surprised to see all of the custom crafted desserts offered. The empanadas were tasty. They had flaky dough that was lighter and more buttery than expected. The fillings were delicious and would have been ever better if the empanadas held more. We tasted more of the pastry than the fuming inside. But the desserts were fantastic. We ordered the limoncello cake (swoon!) and the rainbow cake, among others. They already had us with the empanadas but the desserts will definitely bring us back and soon. Oh, and the owners were exceptionally kind; they really went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed the food and our visit. Very happy to add this restaurant on our rotation! read more

It isn't always easy for vegetarians to find good empanadas so this was a double delight. So so excited to have an authentic Argentinian empanada place nearby!! We went today and were not disappointed!! The atmosphere is very cute with lots of beautiful wood and a good amount of seating. This is a family owned business and they were very kind and knowledgeable! Service was fairly fast I'd say. The empanadas were Delicious!! Light and flakey crust with generous amount of filling. We tried just about all of them and they were all so good. Our favorites were the beef, potato and the Caprese. I recommend trying both of the dips as well and The coffee is good too! We have lived in Castle Pines for over 24 years and enjoy trying new restaurants that open. I don't recall eating an empanada, but I'm sure I have. These empanadas are really good: truly wonderful pastry from craft persons; seasoned perfectly; super flaky and worthy of enjoying again and again. We had the chicken, beef and spicy beef. The owner was so delighted when I called him to give him my personal 5-star review. We want to try the deserts next time. Go early because he sells out quickly. read more
