This is a small mom and pop store in a small shopping center. But don't let the size let the size of the shop fool you!!!! These guys are top notch artists when it comes to repairing AND crafting Jewelry. Without question, these guys are the best when it comes to watch and jewelry repair. I've taken a number of items to them that I thought could never be repaired, and yet they have managed to address even the most complicated issues. A few years ago, my father passed away, and I found an old watch of his that I had given him when I graduated from college. The watch was pretty banged-up, and I was certain that it would never work again. But these guys got it running, and even managed to polish it up. They also performed an amazing job mending a necklace that my wife broke. Additionally, they have a number of items for sale (old watches that they have restored) AND they can even custom make jewelry. This is an excellent shop nestled in a small strip mall on the corner of New York Ave. and Lake St. across from the Arco station. I stopped in to have my antique engagement ring refurbished. Because it is an antique and has sentimental value, I was concerned about entrusting it to anyone. I couldn't be happier with the result! Vic did an excellent job. They made it look stunning in two days! The ring looks even better than when I got it 16 years ago, maybe even better than when my husband's grandmother got it for the first time. I would highly recommend them! Oh, and I dug out all the old watches from my jewelry junk drawer and got them all fancied up with new bands and new batteries. I drive by this shop every day. Now that Radio Shack is gone, I needed a place to replace my car key battery. I was surprised to find out that the owner Vic and his son Shant used to own the watch shop in Old Town where I used to get my watch batteries changed. They've been in this new location two years now, and I'm so happy they're here. Service was excellent, quick and friendly. While I was there, I mentioned that the diamond in my engagement ring was loose, so Vic fixed it, and polished and cleaned it for free. He also services and sells high end watches, repairs new and old clocks, and makes his own beautiful jewelry. Big thanks to SEAN who fixed my watches in less than 5 minutes! I brought in a Swarovski and Movado watch as the batteries were dead. To my surprise, Sean told me it would just take a few minutes and it cost me 1/4th of what I paid at another watch repair shop (who also told me to come back the following week and pick up the watch). Took an invicta that had stopped working to them. An employee messed with it for a minute before handing it back working saying " I said hello to the mainspring. Put the watch back in its case. Went to wear it the next day only to find the crown jammed in so far it couldn't move and the rubber seal between the case and the crown gone. So to summarise a ruined invicta that I took in to CHECK what was wrong with and ended up worse off. read more

If I could give this store and owner 10 stars I would. This was my second trip to this store and again I was beyond pleased. I brought in my grandmother's diamond ring (now mine) which had so much sentimental value to me that I had been nervous to bring it to bring it to a jeweler. The ring band had a clasp that kept opening on me and then I LOST IT for about a month and was devastated!!! After finding it, I immediately took it to Altadena Watch (though I was still nervous to have it out of my hands). Vic was beyond kind and understanding. He took the time to teach me that all diamonds have a visible flaw that is unlike any other diamond...like a "birth mark." He found mine and then had me look in the magnifying glass to find it myself. This way I would know that MY ring would be returned to me. He also did ALLl of the work (creating a new band without a clasp, resizing, and building up the prongs around the diamond so that I never lose the ring or diamond again) THAT DAY so that I wouldn't have to worry or be without it for even a day! The artistry of his work is top notch. My beautiful ring looks like new and is so much safer for me to wear. But what really got me was how his whole heart was in both his work and his interaction with me. He even walked me and my toddler out of the store because she wanted to show him her doggie in the car. I will be forever grateful to Vic and will always take my jewelry to him!! read more

Vic and Shant are so wonderful I had to write a second review! And no, I'm not related or paid by these folks, I'm just so thrilled with them that I want everyone to know... I went in the other day to have a battery replaced in a valuable, scarce watch, and Shant did it expertly while I waited. The screws were stripped but he managed to get it open without scratching the case or making the screws worse. I'm most impressed with the craftsmanship here, these are not hacks, these guys know what they are doing! While I was waiting, Vic was helping a woman with a piece of jewelry that had gotten stuck on her arm. He not only removed it safely for her, but did a little repair for her so it wouldn't happen again, and refused to charge her. These are the kinds of businesses I grew up with, but that are disappearing quickly from the landscape. We need more businesses like Altadena Watch and Jewelry, and more people like Vic and Shant, they have old school values and take very good care of their customers. Businesses like this make our community great, and we're lucky to have them. Everyone I have sent there has said the same... they love how they are treated here, and get real value from the services.
