Let's start by saying I am not an adventurous beer drinker. I am boring at best but enjoy checking out new places. Was in the area with my sister and we thought it would be a good idea check out Altamont for a beer. Jada served us and was helpful in picking out something I would like. I told her what I normally drink and she picked out the Cerveza Murrieta for me. My sister went with the Barry White. Both beers were refreshing and perfect cold temperature. We enjoyed our time with Jada, excellent customer service. It was a chill atmoshpere, TV's were on, wasn't too busy and not too loud. The tap room was nice and cool, also clean. You could sit at the bar or they had seating options along the rest of the room. Lots of fun merchandise for purchase as well as beer to go in cans or growlers. The do not serve food but have a food truck right outside the door. Can't wait to go back!

    Repurposed Decor. Me likey.

This is a hoppy beer lovers dream of a place. Altamont actually has made enough of name for themselves that I see it regularly at many bars/restaurants out in the east bay. Actually my friends and I are super famililiar and are regular drinkers of 2 of their IPAs, the Maui Waui which has acidic tropical notes and their Hella Hoppy, which is kinda my go-to these days for a night cap...very assertive hop backbone in a well balanced malt profile. And I've probably had over a hundered Altamont beers within the past 8 years or so, BUT I've never gone to their actual spot in the cuts of Livermore. Until recently. It is actually such a beer dudes place that it was almost stereotypical in my short visit there for a quick tasting. Almost all dudes in the bar area, all in shorts and a baseball cap of sorts (probably to mask some pattern balding). Every dude was well over 30, so dad bods galore and all probably well into their careeers, so no bums in here really. I'd say all had at least a goat tee if not a beard and 90% of them had a large dog on a leash by their feet under that bar stool. Never seen anything like it before, like every dog was 30 pounds or heavier, so when the dogs got on their feet, there definitely was a lot of butt/groin sniffing and occasionally a quick growl or bark for a particular dog who didn't want all the attention. Lol But overall I fit in more than I didn't so beer wins. Beer Flight Tasting ($12/5*) First off it is a really great price for a tasting flight. You can pick 5 from at least 20 that's currently on tap. It is actually a bit tedious having to look up at their screen to scroll to see what would fit you. Lots of text and you have to do it standing on the bar counter as the screen is only visible from one corner of the bar. Nice 5-6 oz pours in cool little tasting snifters in a cool stainless steel caddy holder. Just write in your 5 on piece of paper and the flight will be brought to you at your seat. When I go to a brewery where I'm familiar with their beers, I will never order something that I've had many times at another bar/restaurant, no matter how much I like it. I am simply there to learn something new. I always will start with something lighter then move to a medium strength beer like a Pale Ale then always have some higher gravity ones toward the end, like a strong IPA or a dark beer. I didn't love all the beers tasted but I did like enough of them to bring some home. Didn't really like their lighter styles but that's not really a surprise as anytime I get into an Altamont beer it is usually for a good punch. I tried 2 pale ales, with one being much more special, their Green Collar Pale totally fits my palate. In any other era, this would actually be deemed as an IPA but in today's hop crazed beer world, this is considered light. But I'd say more balanced, which tends to fit my preferences. Ended up taking 2 4-packs home for my buds to try and we all enjoyed them thoroughly as they were flavors that we don't see at other places. And their take-away beers are very reasonably priced being around $14-$16, as many places want to charge about $20 for a four pack. Props Altamont love how you're here for the common working dude. Drops extra star!

Fantastic beer with plenty of place to sit and mingle. I was also surprised by how much branded apparel and accessories they had (golf apparel, hats, shorts, sweatshirts, stickers, magnets, etc.)! Definitely a nice place to stop if you're in the neighborhood.

Great beer and friendly staff. The food truck pizza was also tasty. Double plus that it's dog and family friendly.

This has been our pit stop for 10 years when we do road trips on our way home to Redwood City. They have in house up to 20 beers, IPA's, Loger...lots of variety! Very clean! The reason for the 3 stars is the service. We always sit at the bar but every time we have to hail down the beer tenders. I get the vibe that they're chatting it up with the regulars & I understand that but they should also pay attention to who arrives and anticipate when another drink might be requested vs the customer waiting until they're done with the conversation to ask. Today was no different but it's the quality of the beer & nice stop before we close out our road trip! I just know what to expect.

Great spot for afternoon beers, pre dinner beers, beers with the boys, beers with your date, or just picking up beers to go! Altamont has tons of flavors if you like IPAs. They've got a smattering of other beers as well. Solid service here too, the staff is always nice and helpful to get you going with a full glass. They've got a large parking lot, so make sure to roll up with a crew. Plenty of to go cans in addition to growler pours. Can't go wrong with a day at Altamont!

Whyyy do you guys hate hazy IPAs?! First time coming here as I was visiting my brother who lives in the area and knows I like trying new breweries anywhere I go. Maybe I'm just a basic conformist, but with how many beers they offer, I thought I would for sure be able to find a hazy I enjoy. However, after reading "MAKE BEER CLEAR AGAIN!" at the end of the description of their "Juice Above the Clouds" IPA, it became clear to me... that my beer would only be clear this time around lol. Not a problem, we adapt! Purchased a 5-beer flight (see attached photos for names). Ended up leaving with a 4-pack of the Shot Away IPA, as it was my favorite of the five. Like most breweries, Altamont is located in an industrial area, in a large building. The staff was friendly and helped out with some NA beverages for the NA drinkers in our group, which they appreciated. I do wish there was outside seating, because it was a beautiful day when we came, but I also know it gets scorching hot there during the summer. I would definitely visit again, and it's very possible this review could change from 4 stars to 5 if they ever offered a hazy! KTHXBYE

Maui waui and the giants game.

Beers are amazing. Good prices for 4 packs. Love the industrial interior. Always packed when I visit.

Was in the area and my fiancé wanted to come here as he is into craft beers. They have a good selection of beers and you can also buy some to take home. And they also have a taco truck outside that sells really good quesabirra tacos and it comes with the broth. The parking lot is small and tight so it's best to get there early to get a spot. But also if your not into beer there are a couple wine tasting places right next door.

Hella Stoked, a very refreshing Imperial collaboration IPA with Henhouse Brewing!

Ask the Community - Altamont Beer Works

    Is there outdoor seating?

    Yes!

If planning a retirement party for 20+ do we need to do that in advance or can we just show up and start a tab? Also is outside food allowed?

It is always helpful to notify our team ahead of time so we can staff accordingly. We do recommend coming early to get a spot because it is first come first serve seating.

Why are the hours so short?

Because it's not a bar - it's a tasting room at a brewery. Local zoning and ordinances play into that too I am sure.

Do we know if it's Dog friendly environment?

    Sevice animal's only

    Is it pet friendly?

No, they stopped allowing dogs since they've moved to their new location.

    Is this place kid friendly?

I've seen kids in there. It's a great environment in general.

It had been recommended to me by my friend who just moved to the area. We were greeted and seated by the manager Deb who was super nice and had explained how things worked there. They are very well organized for ordering and billing. There is a very impressive selection of beers (I tried two different ones; a pale ale, and the house lager - both were very good). There's a good selection of food. Even though I wasn't too hungry I tried the jalapeño burger, also pretty good. Deb and another of her co-workers were great about checking on us to see if we needed more of anything. Food is provided by a food truck setup. Once you've provided your card upon initial drink ordering, you can simply go to the food truck, place your order and give them your name. You're handed a simple lighted buzzer which signals when your food is ready. There's a comfortable indoor seating area which includes the bar, sofas as well as tables. Outdoors is a large covered patio area where we sat, as well as an area setup for corn hole games and other activities. While there we watched some of one of the World Cup games on the large outdoor televisions. There was plenty of room. All-in-all it was very comfortable and enjoyable experience. I'll definitely be coming back on my next visit to the area.

The inside and patio are both casual and open, similar to a brewery, and they have a self-serve tap wall, which is awesome. First time using one, and despite the self-service setup and ordering at the counter, the service we did get was great. Wait time for food wasn't long at all. I ordered the Sessions Burger, and it was lowkey one of the best burger's I've had in a while. I love blue cheese on a burger, and the caramelized onions had a deep, rich flavor. I also liked that it wasn't obnoxiously large for no reason. The fries were perfect, and the ranch was excellent. Honestly, ranch is a good way to judge a place like this, and theirs was rich and smooth. Also really enjoyed the beer I chose. Pouring it yourself is a fun experience, I could spend all day trying different beers. Great spot. Would definitely come back if I'm ever in town again. They also had a fun cocktail menu and plenty of food options from tacos to burgers. The hostess was really kind to explain to us how their restaurant works in terms of the self serve beer as you pay at that front beforehand. Whereas, food items and cocktail drinks are ordered at the back left corner. We ordered the "Such a Gemini" and "Paper cut". Both were more on the sweeter side and you couldn't taste the alcohol at all. Quite dangerous really. The "Such a Gemini" was a hibiscus agave drink. The "Paper cut" was more of a fruity mix with the elderflower and lemon mixed in the whiskey, which I was a HUGE fan of. Gorgeous presentation as well! As for the food, we got the Sessions burger (cheeseburger) and cod tacos both with truffle fries. And maaan. Cod tacos were cooked well and super fresh. Big fan of that red salsa on the side. The Sessions burger was juicy and not dry, but I really enjoyed how it served on a pillowy pretzel bun! Would love to bring my family and friends here! I'd recommend this place if you need a space to hangout at.
