Sitting next to Kat, we instantly start chatting up and talking about the neighborhood and our trip. We're in Chicago and then heading to Vegas for a festival which I still don't have an outfit for. And as luck would have it, she says she works at Felt around the corner and we should definitely head over! We head over to the magical world of Felt and meet the magical Lindsay. Lindsay was my fairy godbestie. She listened to where we were going, my style, and my body. I recently lost weight so I don't have lots of clothes or much style. Clothing shopping has always been tough for me. Lindsay pulled together pieces for me and set up a room. Cue the early 2000's movie changing room montage. Also did I mention the free champagne?! So I'm switching in and out of outfits for my partner and Lindsay to look at on the couch and big mirror which my partner and I drink champagne. I didn't even give Lindsay my sizes (because I don't even know my size anymore) and yet almost every piece fit. And every piece was a different size, medium, large, different numbers, etc. like is she a wizard?! We left the store with summer shorts, an awesome blue, strapless top that ties in the back, and a white skirt with black polka dots for funsies for work (great material, holds it's like 60s waves and is double lined so not see through) Not only did I walk out of there with clothes, but I walked out of there happy, with CONFIDENCE, and a beautiful sense sisterhood. Lindsay is such a girls girl. As a curvy woman, clothing shopping can be tough and disheartening. But if there was a Lindsay in every store, the world would be a better place. P.S. for Lindsay: Girl, the Vegas festival was CANCELLED. Can you believe it?! lol but don't worry I will still be wearing these pieces all summer! Thank you for everything!

I usually hit up Bloomingdale's across the street for my fix; this location, with its spacious interiors and vast accessory and shoe sections to complement the delectable wearables, made me realize just what I was missing. As a walk down retail memory lane, Cop Copine (now in the 900 North Shops) used to be in this location. There was only one other customer in the store and the retail experience was what I appreciate the most- attentive without being overbearing. I ended up with a dress for an event in April (originally $600, marked down to $350) and a skirt and top. Unfortunately for me - maybe not so much for my pocketbook - the full skirt that I was eyeing (on full price) was not available in my size. The personalized service and nifty garment bag that folded up and over into shopping-bag proportions all contributed to my good shopping vibes. Word to the wise: the sale will be ending in a matter of days, at which time all the goods will be packed up and shipped off to the warehouse to make way for Spring 2015 goods. If you want to check out the sale goods while they still last, I suggest coming here without delay.

Marc and Nanette let us down (absolutely nada!) and we found 1 good option of Cynthia Rowley. Before settling on the Cynthia Rowley dress we decided to pop into p45 to see if they had anything. My goodness....I always forget how cute this boutique is! Unfortunately, I can't buy anything in normal boutiques right now due to Baby R, but as soon as I shed those pregnancy pounds later this year p45 will be one of my first stops. Our sales gal, Tricia, was beyond helpful! She wasn't pushy in the least bit and really wanted to make sure my friend absolutely LOVED her rehearsal dinner dress. She ended up finding us a beautiful dress that was just perfect...and on sale (score!). She even gave my friend heels, a strapless bra and stockings to try it on. They really have it all here! Now if only they could start carrying maternity clothes for me...

Sometimes they have an additional 40% off sale, where you can snag deals like jeans for $40 and tee shirts for $15. I find that their in-store sales are much cheaper than online. I like to price check when i get home, and sometimes the things i bought at a major discount are full price online (which, of course, makes me feel smug and pleased with myself). Their stuff is such good quality and is so comfortable. Their jeans feel like jeggings but are actually jeans. Also, for petite ladies like myself, their ankle jeans are a great length. They have a great selection of unique toys and gifts, and they are bursting at the seams with second-hand clothing and shoes. The owner, Maya, was there and it was so great chatting with her and learning more about the shop. I ended up getting a toddler gardening set and tea set, plus some wind-up furry chicks and bunnies. Maya wrapped up both gifts for me in a lovely butterfly wrapping paper and did a better job than I could have ever done. I can't wait to come back and browse the toddler boy selection!
