Took a dress to be completed in a week. (They literally are named Alterations Express). She charged extra for the "rush" of $200 up front. When I went to pick up the dress, she said she wrote down wrong alternation and took 2 more hours to complete while I waited. She also was late to meet me when she set the appointment for 10:30am and didn't show up until 11am. WORST PART - SHE TRIED TO CHARGE ME ANOTHER $130 extra on top of the $200. I then said I would only pay an extra $75 when I should not have paid any extra. TERRIBLE SERVICE, TERRIBLE PRICE, Made me late to a Rehearsal Dinner I had to drive to 5.5 hours away. I have been to Alterations Express 20 times in 2 years. Lost weight so Reem did alterations on new clothes and older favorites as well. Could not have been nicer. Excellent quality workmanship. From Santa suit to linen suits and pants to jackets, she has done excellent work at an affordable price in a timely manner. I needed a pair of pants altered for a dance competition and she left the hospital to meet me at the store so I would have them on time. Who does that? Amazing customer service. Great quality. I brought my dress to get altered and you need a couple inches off I went in on a Wednesday she pin me up . I told you I was leaving town for a wedding on a Tuesday she says she will call me when it was done if it was done sooner .I called her Monday morning to see if it was finished. I got there around 2. When I got there she was pressing the hem. I thought the dress was finished?! Nope! I waited about 10 min to finish. I was already in hurry. She insisted that try on the dress I didn't bring my shoes. I do. I could tell it wasn't even. I told her I don't have time for this I have a million other things to do. She said it will just take a few minutes she pins again. I take off the dress my daughter hands it to her. She starts on the dress. She finishes its hanging in the bag and I look at her work the stitching. I'm not impressed. I dont say anything caue its under the dress but still. Pictures will show . I go to steam the dress because its been in a suitcase and I realize there are still pins in the dress??!!! Which means she didn't finish hemming the dress when i tried it back on when I went to pick it up. At this point I don't have have a choice but to wear it the way it is. I come back into town. I called her No answer I go to her place to show her. Her sign says its open. She's not there I called her on Monday no answer I leave a voice-mail. I go over there today to show her. I walk in she's with a customer. I wait she sees the dress in my hand and says something I say the dress isn't hemmed right and it not even. She proceeds to say I should of known you were were going to be a problem ". ( That's a very rude thing to say!!) I begin to show her her work and she wants no part of it I said you even left the pins in it. She had the nerve to say THAT I PUT THEM IN THERE" I said no I didn't. I Have proof the PICTURES has a time stamp. She said' yes you did that I put them In there while I was undressing when I tried it on. " yeah like i had the time to do that that is ridiculous. I said I want my money back you did a horrible job on this dress. Meanwhile the customer is still standing there. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL OF HER! She's saya " I should of known when you checking the dress before I paid. I said " Yeah I was checking your work " what's wrong with that "!? Another customer comes in and she proceeds to ask the lady " do I do a good job?". Lady responds. "I show the lady the picture that I took with the different lengths of my dress I said would you pay $87 for a job like this . I know think so!!." I was a livid. The owner proceeds to say your not allowed back in here I say. Oh don't worry I won't be and allow you fix anything ever again and I will tell everyone not to go here! And proceeds to take pictures of some spots on the dress .I said you need to be taking pictures of the hem not the spots that's not what I'm complaining about. Needless to say DO NOT COME to this place . Funny thing is I do know how to sew and I could of done a much better job than she did I chose not to do it cause I hate working with this type of material. I know this was a last minute alteration, and that's on me. Now, the shoddy work and price are on her. I took the dress in about 10 days before the wedding and she told me it would be finished 4/22 at 2pm. I called at 1:45pm on 4/21 and asked if it could be completed before 2pm, because rehearsal was at 4pm. She told me she would call me back and let me know when it was done. She texted me at almost 10pm and told me that they would be ready at 11:30am. My daughter and I got there atv11:45am and she was still working on my dress. She was to hem the front, fix the loose bust and sew up the front slit because it was do short. We had to stay 2 more hours because she kept having to fix my bust. The slit that had been sewn was SO tight, I had to stand up the whole wedding. The sewn part was tacky. She even forgot to sew the inside of the hem that she had to open to shorten it. To top it off, she charged me $360! I had to go across the street and get cash. I broke down crying in my car because the alterations were more than the dresses. I had my wedding a couple of weeks ago and had purchased my wedding dress only a month and a half before the wedding day. She was able to get my dress finished the week before which I really appreciated. She also was able to do my now husband's suit on short notice. The first time I came in I had to bring my 15 month old because I couldn't find childcare. She seemed put off at first but then eventually ended up helping with her and seemed to really enjoy her towards the end. My dress turned out beautifully. read more

My wife had gifted me with a hoodie that I immediately fell in love with which caused me to wear it at every opportunity that presented itself to me. However, as happens so often when one is a smoker, the burning end tumbled from the cigarette landing just above the seam of the pouch. Understandably, She Who Must Be Obeyed delivered a figurative tongue lashing (had it been a literal tongue lashing it would have been enjoyable) about ruining clothes, cannot buy me nice things, et al. I remembered seeing a business named Alterations Express in the same strip mall where we take our dog and/or cats to the veterinarian. One fine day when we had the dog at the vet, I walked into Alterations Express where I met the proprietor, Ms. Reem Yousif, a fine Italian woman, ok I am kidding because Ms. Yousif is of Iraqi descent. I gave her the hoodie, then begged for her very best work because of my wife's misgivings and her contention that the damage was irreparable thus rendering the garment to the "ONLY To Be Worn at Home" drawer. Ms. Yousif told me to return the next Tuesday or Wednesday and the hoodie would be repaired. Because of suffering from Parkinson's Disease and I cannot drive so I use public transportation to wherever I 'need to go, then my wife picks me up after leaving work. On the next Wednesday, my wife and I were in the area of Alterations Express causing us to set our sails to the business. Ms. Yousif immediately recognized me, brought the hoodie to me for inspection. Only because I knew where the burn hole had been could I detect her work. I think that the price was around $5.00, but it would have been worth twice that amount. When I returned to the car, my wife asked me how well did the repair look. I demurred by saying that she could see for herself when we were at home. Later, I put the hoodie on for my wife to inspect the garment, but she could not find the repair until I pointed to the new stitches. Double thumbs up for Ms. Yousif and Alterations Express! My daughter went to get her prom dress altered at this location and the lady completely overcharged for alterations , which all she have to do was shorten, nothing extremely difficult. She didn't tell us the price until it was finished and we had to pay . My daughter's alteration ($150 plus tax) ended up costing more than the price of her actu dress ($100) read more

Sweet seamstress, average alteration ability, and overpriced!! I was getting a MOH dress altered from a size 10 to a size 4. She quoted me $60 during the time getting my initial fitting session. When I returned she had to finish the sewing of the internal lining, the abdominal area was very tight though I had maintained my shape and weight. The worst part was then she concluded the session, she told me it would be $140!!!!! She also only accepts cash, and I suspect she likely doesn't file taxes because she didn't give me a receipt or ticket for the purchase. I was able to talk her down to $120 but still double the original price quote. She apologized but I cannot accept this experience. I have since used Kim Alterations in Maryville, TN. Alterations Express ruined a garment worth $150. Not only was the garment irreversibly ruined, but she had the nerve to charge me for the work. Her work looked like someone who was practicing alterations for the first time. I was so upset after picking up the item that I purposefully gave myself a cool-down period before attempting a review.
