Every time I visit Las Vegas I make it a point to stop by Alternate Reality Comics. It's very well organized, so you can find something specific you're looking for e.g. if you're a Joker fan they've got a section for all his books. Indie Comics? They've got a truckload of them. Picked up a really cool brooding Batman poster for my 8 year-old as well. They also have comics for all ages. My kiddo picked up a Dogman comic while I picked up some doorstopper tomes from Marvel, DC and Indie Comics publishers. The staff is very friendly and I highly recommend a visit if you're in the neighbourhood and love Comics. read more

They've got all the latest issues, a modest but robust selection of back issues, themes for displaying graphic novels, and a spotlight on local artists. Old school vibe, great set up of books by publisher, and an excellent value section of back issues. There's not much space in this storefront, so they really make the most use of everything. This comic store has truly been amazing. At the old store I used to frequent, the owner would often make me uncomfortable as a girl who enjoys comics with weird and sometimes inappropriate comments. Finally I had decided to find a new spot, that hopefully would be more welcoming and kind. And this place is exactly that. The owner, Ralph, is incredibly kind and wonderful and never makes you feel out of place. The same can be extended to the other employees as well. I saw Spiderman and Superman comics, anime, indie books, graphic novels, trade paperbacks, new comics and old comics plus original comic art. Plenty of reading material to satisfy a person's overactive imagination. The owner Ralph is a warm and friendly individual. Very helpful and willing to give any recommendations in his well organized store. If there is anything you might want. If for some reason it's not in his store currently. Great stock of reasonably priced back issues and some really, really good dollar bins. Very friendly staff. Store was easy to navigate and find what I was looking for, which already scores points with me. There are more than enough shops out there that throw their junk on the floor (literally and figuratively) that I'll leave if I can't clearly navigate where I'm going. But I was happy with Alternate Reality. Couple that with the friendly staff and I wished I could have stuck around a little longer. Great store! read more

Hands down the best priced comic store in Las Vegas. They might not have an extensive back stock, but for the treasure hunters in a real collector, you'll know if you do find the book you want it will be way cheaper then the other comic book stores. Service is great, owner usually there so you make deals on backstock comics... saved almost $20 with cash. read more

This is easily my favorite comic book store in all of Las Vegas and it all simply comes down to one thing - charm. While the new location feels smaller than the older location, it feels brand new and with the same cozy atmosphere that won me over in the first place. Every experience I've had is top notch, the staff always has fantastic picks for different series jump on points and is always willing to engage in friendly conversation about the newest and greatest to come from the industry. The selection tends to lend itself towards a more indie comic lover's taste, but there are plenty of Marvel and DC comic greatest hits to choose from. Ultimately, the magic that happens at this store is the feeling that I will find something special and one of a kind that I won't find elsewhere. Unless I'm missing something, and I may be, this place isn't all that good unless you want TPBs. I saw LOTS of them. But their selection of comics was much smaller than anywhere else I've ever been. They have racks of currents all over, mixed in with TPBs of every variety. I wanted to try an out-of-town shop and was really hoping for a much larger selection of comics. Was pretty disappointed in that respect. I asked about variants and was told they basically had a single box. I've never seen that. I did end up buying a few books on my wish list. But looking thru their stock I realize that I had to be very careful; a lot of their books aren't boarded and many aren't even bagged. Lots of dinged corners and small rips. Like I said maybe I'm missing something. But it's a small shop so unsure what I may have missed. On the plus side the place, on a weekday evening, was pretty busy. This place was exactly what we needed! Prior to leaving for a trip we like to get some new graphic novels to read while away. While this place does have lots of single issue comic books, we went for the graphic novels. They had a great selection all broken down by publishers and a good selection of first volumes from Image for $10, a great way to get into a new series. Lots of indy publishers too which is great to see. The guy working here was really knowledgable and was happy to help offer suggestions and ask questions about what you like to tailor suggestions to your preference. Didn't feel welcomed and I would rather shop other local comic stores like Maximum Comics or Celestial as the staff is way more welcoming and friendly. Found this place while driving down flamingo when I was visiting Las Vegas. This store has lots of nice super hero / villain t shirts and there the real ones too. Also lots of comics and other superhero/ villain things The store is real clean and well organized. The guy that was working was real nice and helpful. If your into comics and other super hero/ villains stuff you need to check this place out. Can't wait for my next trip to Vegas so I can put some money to the side before a blow it all on the strip. read more

We were in Vegas for a mini vacation and went to Alternate Reality Comics because of the rave reviews here on yelp. We were not disappointed. This is one of the coolest comic book stores I have been to. Talk about lots of independent comics. I picked up a true gem of a comic called "The Pro" (Ennis, Conner, Palmiotti, Mounts) and what a funny, funny comic (not for the politically correct). I could not believe the selection of odd ball, off the wall stuff. Right up our alley. We purchased lotsa stuff. The guy we spoke to (I think he was the owner) was an oddball himself and very charming. We talked about San Diego Comic Con and the difficulty in finding good comic book stores or comic book stores with staying power. He was a fountain of information and willing to order any comic book you wanted if he didn't have it in stock. Very nice and accommodating as well. If we lived closer to Las Vegas this would be one of our regular stops. Very warm and hospitable atmosphere. read more

Over the years he's turned in me on to some of my favorite series of all time. Not just that?! He is also so well read, there are plenty of indie titles he's lead me to over the years. A good representation of his store. With an easy on the eyes display. He represents popular and indie titles. Also sorting by authors is a great way to see a favorites expanded body of work. Always supporting local artists & writers and the community. Had an especially great time recently at the Where we live release event. I'll be coming back here as long as it's open. I heard that Spiderman died! Ohh noeezzzz! I remember when I went to UNLV that there was a comic book across the street so I went back to where my memory brought me and it wasn't there! Alternate Reality was nootttt there, noooooo. Then my Spidey-Sense was tingling and Yelped it's location. I found it! So I web swinged my way over and Ralph was still there but at a slightly bigger store. He had in stock the 7 or so comics that detailed the death of Spiderman. =( The store is stocked like the last time I was there with comics, manga, etc. The owner Ralph is very nice and knowledgeable. The store is organized and clean. Glad this comic book store is still around! rip Spidey! But Captain America died too but they brought him back to life, can't wait for Spidey to return! read more
