First time here! We look for new coffee shops to check out every weekend on our days off, and although the coffee shop isn't newly opened.. it's new for us. Small in size as far as the cafe area goes, there's six tables and a few stools at a drink rail... but the bookstore part is much larger. We ordered up two americanos and asked for mugs (coffee just doesn't taste the same out of a paper or plastic cup). They have mugs but you have to ask (we were the only ones with mugs at the tables) and you can't take the mugs into the bookstore. What a quaint & gorgeous bookstore tucked away on 6th St & Bonnaville! I took my son here to buy a few children's books, and I was surprised at how spacious this store was. The cafe was in the front with a myriad of coffee, latte & pastries. The showstopper was the black & white bunny by the young readers section. My 4-year old son enjoyed watching the cute bunny eating lettuce! I liked how all the kids books were clearly labeled by the age group, which made it easy to navigate. Fantastic local book store. Lots of local magazines, guides, and authors. You can order what's not in stock from their site, but I find it's fun to explore what they do have. Lots of new releases, popular books, poets, etc. I also love their kids section, and selection of oddities, knick-knacks, and decor. I found out about Writer's Block from @norma.geli and planned a visit during my Vegas trip. I enjoy walking through bookstores especially when they also sell cute tchotchkes. I saw these cute animal figurines that hold one single candle, my favorite was the octopus ($55). It's small and fits in the palm of your hand. I wish I had bought it, because how often do you get to blow out a birthday candle sitting in a cute, little octopus. This is a great shop and more than worth a visit. There is only street parking, but you might get lucky and find a spot at the front. The seating for the coffee shop is limited. Finding a table for more than two people can be challenging, there were only two 4-tops, 2-3 seats at the bar and maybe four 2 seaters. read more

I absolutely loved this place. My daughter and I are avid readers and love exploring bookstores, so when I heard about it I could not wait to have a mommy/daughter date here. They have a great selection of books covering a wide range of subjects. I especially liked the A Very Short Introduction section because it has so many interesting topics. My daughter ordered the Peach Cobbler Latte and I had the Honey and Cinnamon Latte. Both were really good. Plan to spend at least an hour browsing because there is so much to look at. There is paid street parking nearby, or you can park near 6th and Bridger for just a few dollars and easily pay through the link they text to you. One thing I'll always do on vacation is find a local bookstore. This one was incredible; huge selection, every genre you could think of, and even the sweetest little section just for kids. What a cute bookstore tucked about downtown LV. Located right next to the Beverly Theater. There is some street parking. You may have to park down the block as it gets a little crowded. The bookstore itself is cute and whimsical with tons of great gifts as well. This particular day I stopped in to grab a coffee. There is some seating but not much. I know I know. I'm a TERRIBLE Las Vegan for just now finally coming to Writer's Block and honestly, I've been missing out. What a GEM in DTLV! WOW! Such a cool spot where you can grab a cup of coffee and work inside or on the patio, and then browse their bookstore to grab a book to take home or read there. I'm obsessed with this place. I spent probably 30 minutes just walking around the bookstore taking it all in. They have every type of book you can imagine and then even journals and puzzles and things like that, too. They also had a little bunny in a cage that was so cute haha. But they also have stuffed animals and dolls and toys and things like that that you can purchase, too. It's an artificial bird sanctuary, meaning the birds are fake but you can literally even buy those and take them home! And I loved the atmosphere that they create. As you're walking through, it feels like you're in Disneyland or a magical fairytale land. The music and ambiance is seriously magical. I ended up buying a baby book about pasta and a stuffed baby lamb since my maiden name means Baby Lamb in Italian ahah. I couldn't resist! I also got the strawberry banana smoothie and tried the blueberry muffin which was delicious, too. This certainly won't be my last visit here. I'm obsessed. read more

I came across this coffee shop through one of my scrolls on the web. I'm happy I stopped by! It's so much more than a coffee shop. It is this magically, decorated space. It is full of character and they offer books of every genre. An added cute touch was their little pet bunny. Adorable! The ambiance in there felt like comfort and the customer service was great. You could really settle in this safe space. To drink, I had an Oatmilk Lavender and Vanilla latte. It was good! 5/5 stars I'm looking forward to adding this into my coffee shop rotation. read more

The Writer's Block is located in the downtown Arts District, and it's such an adorable bookstore/coffeehouse. If you're looking for real coffee -- not the overly sweet stuff like Dutch Bros -- this is absolutely the place. The coffee is strong, inexpensive, and actually tastes like coffee. You can also get a little nibble to eat, which I really appreciate. This place is LGBTQ-friendly for sure, and it's decorated so cute and thoughtfully. There's so much to look at. They have all kinds of books, and while it's a bit of a tight squeeze, it's beautifully done and totally makes up for it. One thing I didn't love: the chairs at the tables weren't very comfortable, especially if you're on the thicker or bigger side. That was probably my only real complaint. The staff wasn't overly smiley or chatty, but they do take care of you, and that's what matters. I also liked that they have a separate little area where you can order and pay for a book, then pick it up at the front without having to wander through the bookstore again. There are only a few tables -- probably around 10 spots total where you can actually sit and work or study -- so I'd recommend getting there early if that's your plan. Overall, this is a definite must-see. I really liked this place and would absolutely go back. Highly recommend. read more

Such a beautiful store! I could spend all day looking at everything they have! The shelves of books, the different stacks of items on tables, under tables and tucked in corners makes it like a treasure hunt!! They have a cute little bunny pet mid store, which was a nice addition to the artificial bird sanctuary vibes they have with all of the artificial birds everywhere as well as the sounds of birds chirping and soft music playing. We got a coffee up front - it was delicious! And then made our way through the store! It makes you wish that they had little reading spaces to curl up in and hang out...but it's a bookstore! not a library! haha!! We had to remind ourselves of that! read more

They serve Olympia Coffee here. I ordered a honey cinnamon latte, which did the job. My wife ordered a Lavender Vanilla latte, but her drink was too heavy-handed with the Lavender. Parking here is street parking and we were able to snag free parking in front of the store on a weekend day; however, your miles may vary on that. While the coffee was fine, what we enjoyed more was their charmingly decorated bookstore, where we both found some gems to take home with us. We definitely didn't expect what we saw here!It has pretty cool ambiance and we were happy that we stopped by as we needed to kill some time before we were able to check in to our hotel. read more

What a fun place! This whimsical cafe and bookstore is a fantastic place to go visit. We didn't have anything to eat, but went for the bookstore part of it. They have such fun items for sale and a great book selection. Books are organized by genre and each section is decorated differently with stuffies, felted, or plastic birds to match. Each bird has their own "autobirdography" which as so much fun to read. Each section also has a different array of fun things to buy. It's a great place to shop for gifts! The staff was kind and helpful too. And the resident bunny (this one alive and well) is so cute. The next time I come to Vegas I am definitely making sure to stop by again. read more

I'm an avid reader and usually stick to borrowing from the library, but after hearing so many friends tell me I'd love this bookstore, I finally checked it out. I'm so glad I did. I ended up buying a collection, but honestly, I probably could've spent hours just wandering & hanging out in the cafe section of the store. This is the kind of place you can get lost in. The decor is immersive & cozy. I love how they decorated for the holidays, on top of the artificial bird sanctuary theme. The sections are thoughtfully curated with not just books, but also unique little finds like garden seeds, puzzles, rulers, and gifts. I loved how organized, yet whimsical everything felt. Another thing that stood out to me was the selection. Beyond bestsellers, there were genuinely interesting, lesser-seen/promoted titles that you may not find displayed elsewhere. Also, when I needed help finding a specific author, a staff member took me directly to their work with no problem. Subtly hidden in the either very busy or very quiet down town area, just west of Fremont district is this little Diamond in the rough. With the law office in almost every direction there is this quiet sanctuary of intellectualism. Eclectic and almost eccentric, this Book store is designed with an almost maze like layout. It seemed overwhelming at first, but like any good read, my suggestion is dove right in, and plan on coming back for more, even after you think you've seen it all, there is usually something that you missed. Although the decor is gentle it provides a sensory adventure that is calming. There is subtle tones, specifically i think i heard birds chirping, and it boosts itself as a an Artificial Bird Sanctuary. A suggestion from a new and valued friend, i am so excited I set my weekend to discovering this gem. Thank you Writers Block and its staff, i plan to visit again! 10/10 read more

I think maybe I hyped myself up too much for this bookstore after reading reviews and it fell short of my expectations. To park at this bookstore, there are a few parking spots in the alleyway behind the bookstore but its not many (like 3-4?)-better to just street park. There is plenty of space to street park even when we went on a Saturday afternoon. This bookstore is split into a coffee shop and a bookstore. Coffee shop is up front. There were plenty of people studying so might be a good spot to study but there weren't any open tables from what I could see. The bookstore itself is quaint and has a lot of decor going on (there's even a cute bunny). It was nice to kind of walk around for some minutes and peruse their collection of books, stationary, and other small trinkets/gifts. However, my main issue was a lack of book recommendations displayed to draw a reader in and a lack of interaction from staff. I did end up buying a book to support independent bookshops, but the book was one I had already been looking to buy for some months now. I like to go to bookshops to discover new authors or titles but this was maybe just not the right layout for me. read more

This place is Vegas' hidden gem! Parking is everywhere and you will have to pay expect during designated days and time slots. came on a Sunday it was free. I could have spent more time here but felt rushed by my partner. They had generic journal inserts that you can find almost anywhere like Moleskin. If you're looking for Japanese style journal system like Travelers Company, keep searching as you won't find it here. They do have Kaweco pens and ink cartridges, as well as ink bottles here. I thought that was a WIN! I did grab a coffee as well and it was delicious. I was able to "take it to go" and walk around the bookshop, so that was nice. Also, they have a cute bunny sheltered amongst the books in a cage and that was a cute touch. The place is cramped a but and you can be overstimulated as to how many books there are to see and read. Funny enough, I walked out with pen cartridges and a reusable museum bag. Exactly what I wanted and been looking for. Check them out! What a place of sensory overload, in the best way! This is the cutest place to visit for a bookstore. The café is nice and fills up quickly, with every seat and table occupied. As you walk farther past the café, the bookstore becomes your own enchanting space, with so much to see and books for days, all organized into their respective categories. As you browse for the category you're looking for, you'll also find all kinds of extras, bookmarks, collectibles, real animals like a bunny , and a huge presence of cardinals throughout the store. I love how each category is separated into diverse and fun sections. Seeing books for kids and teens, too, was awesome. There was so much to explore that I found myself drawn into one corner after another, going through entire shelves, discovering great reads, and having a hard time deciding which books to buy. Still, it was a great experience. It would be nice to have a single "soft" chair in each area for ADA accessibility while browsing and deciding on books, sometimes finding the right book takes time. Overall, this is one of the best bookstores I've been to in a long time, by far! Go enjoy some tea, coffee, or a good book, it's a great place. I do recall that the café closed at 5 PM. We had a bit more free time than expected on our first day in Vegas, so of course I looked for a fun bookstore instead of heading to any of the casinos. The Writer's Block is an adorable and large bookstore with a wide variety of material to choose from! You enter into a coffee shop area with minimal seating and then move into the bookstore behind that. So the reason for my 4 stars instead of 5 is that you can't bring books into the coffee shop area unless you've already bought them PLUS there's absolutely not one single chair to sit down and read some of the books in the actual bookstore area. I would have spent so much more time browsing (and probably buying) here if I could have sat down and sampled some of my potential books. Even so, the place is lovely and has so much fun decoration throughout the bookshelves. Subjects and genres were clearly labeled save for the initial section up front. A co-worker and I tried to determine what the section heading would be for this spot, and we drew a blank. A mix of some classics, new reads, and things in between I hadn't yet heard of. This place is heaven - coffee, contemporary literature, a hidden garden feel? Aptly named. I would also come here if I had writers block...or is it that you'll get blocked here because you get lost in the enchantment? Regardless, we came to get some reprieve from the heat. I originally thought to just do an iced tea but then the matcha earl grey caught my eye and that was that. It's a combo I hadn't seen before so I had to try it. I also added a snickerdoodle because cookies are my weakness. The drink was excellent! It was a little grassy from the matcha but finished with the nice bergamot orange flavor of the earl grey. Yum! The cookie was a bit cakey for my liking but I did like the amount of cinnamon. After you enjoy your treats, definitely take time to get lost in the bookstore. It's such a fun experience! read more
