This was my first intro to comic book shops in Las Vegas after I moved here from San Francisco. I was worried that there wouldn't be a shop around that catered to the alt and indy comics like we had in SF. Boy, was I wrong. This is an amazing shop and Ralph (the owner) is an encyclopedia of comic book knowledge. He's always friendly and greets every customer that walks in personally. The selection is huge and there's always plenty of genres for everyone. The have games, knick knacks, art, posters, back issues, classic comics, a local section, apparel, and a good sized kids section. It's located in a very easy to access strip mall on a busy intersection, so it's not hidden away where you'll miss it. I have been collecting comics for 30 years and Alternate Reality is one of my 4 favorite shops of all time. Do yourself a favor and check them out!! read more

I've always wondered what a comic book store was like and I gotta admit, it was AMAZING! I got 2 comic books for $2 each and the complete 6 series of Lock & Key. They have the coolest magnets, pins, and the best books ever. The guy that was working there was really nice and even helped me with one of the toy vendor machines (I'm really bad with machines). Nothing special about the customer service but is a cool place with a pretty varied inventory. I was surprised to find a Neon Genesis figure, and for a great price! Worth checking out for any fan. read more

One of the oldest and greatest comic shops in the valley. Ralph is a local legend. He was one of the first to bring in a little known writer by the name of Brian Michael Bendis years before he became famous. This shop is clean, spacious, vibrant and very well stocked. This comic book store that sits at the northeast corner of Flamingo and Maryland Parkway next to Buffalo Exchange is quite a gem. The place is well-lit and well organized. I was on my life-long quest of searching to complete my collection of "Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children" by Dave Louapre and Dan Sweetman. The person behind the counter who I am assuming is the owner didn't have any copies when I inquired on his selection of Piranha Press titles but was very knowledgeable on the title and where I might be able to find it, even commenting that another comic store had tweeted they had copies recently. I was looking for a good read and picked up another volume of the Walking Dead series and another selection recommended by the store. They also had a sale going on graphic novels which made me even happier to be in the confines of this great place. This comic book store definitely deserves the positive marks it has received and I now have a definite place to find the title I enjoy reading which aren't of the Marvel and DC variety. This place ranks up at the top with me along with Maximum since the whole place looks like it was put together and formulated to appeal to the avid fan boy or the newbie looking to dip their toe in the lake of comic goodness. read more

This time I picked up some great prints by some local artists and as always received great service and pricing! Awesome graphic novel selection celebrating some of the best indie works! Lie absolutely LOVED this place! There was a HUGE selection, probably one of the biggest I've ever seen at your standard comic book shop! The owner was very nice and super knowledgeable! Since I'm coming from San Bernardino California there aren't to many great comic book shops. So coming here was like MAGIC! This place deserves 10 stars because of the SUPER BIG selection, the organization, and how great the staff was! I recommend this shop to ANY new or seasoned comic book junkie! Great selection of comics, graphic novels, toys, shirts, and other nerdy things. Nice small environment that makes you feel like they want you there. The selections was tremendous. They have a very nice selection of back issue comic books. They have more than your normal superhero comics and novels. The selection and variety is endless. The owner of the store, Ralph, was also very nice and extremely helpful. Definetly recommend. One of my can't miss spots whenever I'm in Vegas. read more
