Onn Friday night, the bartender was ALL ALONE in the restaurant and I felt so bad for him I wanted to ask for an apron so i could help him! We decided to go elsewhere, but were not successful there either. Monday morning I was delighted to see that our waitress had backup and the food was delicious as well. Just ate here and several items were almost inedible. The chicken strips/fries and the egg rolls were good. The nachos were awful. Bottom of the bag crushed tortilla chips, melted "cheese" that was not cheese-like - tasted like it was out of a can, the nachos were served on a paper wrapper on a plate - not at all what I expected for the price. Staff was running like wild and never checked on our table. Not the staff's fault that there was only a bartender/waiter and secondcwaiter, no busboy. Looked like there was some kind of convention in attendance so i would expect more staff. No refill on water or Pepsi but offered a second lemon drop. Dessert was sad too. Food is not good, lobster bisque came out cold so I sent it back. Next, my $4 grilled chicken add on wasn't even a whole breast nor was it juicy. The service is alright but not great either. The server brought out the half bottle of iced tea for my refill, so not even fresh but I guess no pretension of it? Took us 15 minutes to get the check. The ambiance is nice atleast. I was so excited our hotel had a restaurant so that we wouldn't have to worry about having some wine and then driving. Well, this place disappointed me. The sparkling wine was the only good thing I have to say about it besides my good company. I ordered fried vegetables for me and my fiance which I knew was not going to be great, but for some reason I was really craving it. Maybe because I did not get any at the fair recently. ha. Anyway, I won't talk about that because it was typical fried veggies. I would like to comment on my shrimp scampi though. It was on the appetizer list and I thought that would be plenty for me because I was not starved and we had that huge order of veggies anyway. It looked okay when it was served. It came with a few pieces of toasted bread and looked like it had plenty of garlic sauce. But, first bite I was like oh no. They severely burned the garlic. It was awful. Just tasted like burned garlic and I could only eat a couple of the shrimp without pushing it away. What really made me unhappy was when I told the server about it, I thought for sure we would either get another dish to replace it or even an offer to make it right on our bill. Nope. (Resort was great by the way) At first, we started with the "Build Your Own" appetizer. Neither of us were impressed. So I ordered a house salad and she ordered the Shrimp Scampi. There were about nine or ten pieces of shrimp. They looked delicious. Unfortunately, they were not. The garlic had a burnt taste to it. Definitely not worth the price. The food was very good, reasonably priced, and our young waitstaff super sweet and attentive. I tried the beef short rib dinner and a cup of the clam chowder. After reading the reviews I was skeptical, but I was pleasantly surprised! First off, the staff is super sweet and very proud of the restaurant. They were so kind and inviting. We got the Korean BBQ short ribs (like Galbi) that came with brown rice and a house salad. Hidden gem. Love this place. Great bartenders. Great drinks. Jonathan was super friendly, funny, and absolutely what we needed tonight. The atmosphere was fun. There were TVs with games on. We haven't stayed at The Resort since Best Western took over. (I'll write a separate review for the Resort) We had dinner at the Altitude Restaurant and were very disappointed. We ordered drinks - Long Island & Espresso Martini. I was not impressed with the martini. I expected a better presentation for a $12 drink. It just looked like they strained it into a glass and that was it. It was supposed to be garnished with coffee beans and wasn't. Other restaurants/bars for this price point would dust the edge of the glass with cocoa powder, possibly top with a light cream with espresso bean garnish. For dinner, we ordered a chicken quesadilla and pasta primavera. The chicken quesadilla was a little bland. The pasta primavera was not good. The vegetables were cut into huge pieces, rather than julienned. To top it off, there were black olives strewn through the dish. I DO NOT like olives! I guess I had no reason to think there would be olives in this dish, or I would've said to leave them out. It ruined the flavor. There wasn't very much wine sauce either, so the pasta was very dry. We ordered a berry cobbler for dessert. We had to wait a while for them to bake it. I was looking forward to a piping hot cobbler with a crunchy top. Nope! The topping looked like a pile of uncooked oats and were a bit mushy. There were 2 fresh raspberries and strawberries that looked like they were thrown in after the fact. There were 2 pieces of unrecognizable fruit that were "baked" in. It was served with 2 scoops of ice cream with chocolate sauce. Who puts chocolate sauce on a cobbler?! It was the worst cobbler I've ever had. They used to be an upscale, fine dining restaurant. Now it's mediocre at best. We won't be eating there in the future. read more

I have to amend my various reviews of this restaurant to give it positive feedback since it has changed management. Although the menu has become more casual, it is much better than it was in the past. The previous menu was pretentiousness incarnate, overpriced and foofoo without the actual quality to back it up. Now the menu items are largely casual and pretty good. Some items are overpriced still, but at least they're not trying to be something they're not. read more

Starting with first phone call to make what turned out be an unnecessary "reservation" Breanna made our entire experience fun and very pleasant. As others have mentioned She wears multiple hats (host bartender waiter bus person) with an infectiously positive attitude. Like the Energizer bunny...she kept going and going and going.... Regarding the food...Halibut and crusted salmon entrees were both well prepared and very tasty. Timing was spot on. Pleasantly surprised! Fortunately other house staff (front desk folks) did pitch in and helped deliver plating to larger parties, cleared and reset and few tables. Understand how staffing is a huge problem for most businesses post COVID...this resort is very fortunate to have Breanna who made what could have been a terrible disappointing experience into one we will remember fondly. It's too bad that the Resort does not have a strong offering for a restaurant. We went here when we stayed recently and had a relatively disappointing experience. The front staff member who was seating us was missing so we waited for quite a bit. Then he got us drinks but had to ask us 3 times because he couldn't remember our orders. Our server Abraham was great and friendly. The food service here is slow and I imagine it is due to the kitchen. While our breakfast was not that bad, it is worth nothing that the kitchen forgot my bagel until we had already finished our breakfast. Why even bring it at that point? I highly recommend dining options outside of the resort. read more

We just went to this restaurant because we were staying at a nearby resort and wanted some not homemade food. I am a vegetarian and wanted to find a place nearby with vegetarian options and saw the menu and said oooo this place! I really liked the decor and it looks like a nice restaurant so we were excited. When we got there, the waitress/hostess told us to seat ourselves. Okay.. we did, and had a lot of options to choose from because only 1 other party was there. I gave them a pass on that because it was a week night. The food was okay, the pasta primavera was super weird tasting because they put olives in it (not a fan and didn't realize that was included on it) and the sauce tasted like olive juice rather than a butter white wine sauce. The burger my boyfriend had was mediocre and the fries were okay, the baked brie appetizer was the best thing we ate, it was a small thing of brie and grapes and bread on a massive plate. A pretty big portion of bread so easy to fill up on. It wasn't super flavorful but it was decent. When our entrees came, the waitress kept touching the plates and silverware on our table to "make them fit on the table" which made me feel weird because it took a long time, which I thought was odd. Throughout our meal, the person I assumed to be the manager was laughing and talking loudly with other staff. Also- I wanted to pay and tip in cash, and only had hundreds, so when I gave my money to the waitress, she said she doesnt have change for $100 because she has to bring in her own change for each shift. I was so confused by this comment but just went with it and gave her my card. But the part of this experience that got me? They charged me for the other parties tab. The waitress mixed up the cards, and charged me for the other parties meal. She came over to tell me when she did it, and said oh dont worry it is fine you will get your money back, but it was very irritating to have my card charged twice. She said she voided the accidental charge and I should get the money back from my bank in 2-3 weeks, so this probably was not the first time she did this. But I was just shocked because by the time we left there were only 3 parties there total, and she mixed up the cards?! I was hoping for a nice relaxing dinner but it just ended up being a stressful night out. The restaurant had some good decor but the service and food left us wishing we went to a pub nearby. read more

This is probably one of the worst restaurant and banquet experiences I've ever had. During our banquet experience, we had to request the heat be turned on multiple times, the dishes were dirty and had to be sent back, the times of breakfast service were wrong and they had to clear 50-percent of the food before the guests even arrived! Seriously... I was not only furious, but embarrassed as my employees arrived and their breakfast was being cleared. Before the event, I ordered biscuits and gravy ... if you want to call them that! The gravy was unrecognizable as any gravy I've ever had, and the biscuits were rock-hard; having clearly been microwaved. The biscuits were hardly fresh, and only about 1.5" by .5".... tiny. My 9-year old makes a better plate of B&G. We had also reserved the "private dining room" for meetings at $100/day. When arriving on Saturday for this room and meetings, the table hadn't been bussed or cleaned. After notifying the staff of our reservation of the space, we then had to ask that the table be bussed and the melted chocolate that was drizzled across the table top be cleaned. DO NOT EAT HERE! Save your time and money and have your breakfast down the street at Barlow Trail Roadhouse and your dinner at Skyway. We will not be giving them our business in the future. read more

I ordered the shellfish medley to go and it was messy and missing items. There were no scallops or shrimp because they were out of those items and they did not offer extra crab or clams. They should have just said the entree wasn't available. When I arrived to pick up my order, they made me wait 12 minutes. The restaurant was not busy as it was around 9:00pm. They finally acknowledged I needed service when another patron suggested they help me since I had been waiting so patiently. The waitress did not apologize for the wait or acknowledge that she kept helping new customers despite my waiting to be served. The food was thrown in the box and did not look appetizing. When I got to my room I realized they did not give me a baguette. I called them to let them know and they said I could go back to get it. I chose not to because I didn't want to walk back to get bread. They should have offered to not only bring the baguette, but also to bring something else for the inconvenience. read more

Great food at the Altitude! I'm not sure why they have such a low average rating. My boyfriend and I visited the resort and had dinner here. He ordered the lamb chops, I ordered the Caesar salad and clam&mussels, and we finished off with creme brulee for dessert. It was all better than we expected! His lamb chops were tender and cooked perfectly, and my steamed clam and mussels were delicious! The portions were generous and the meal was safisfying. We received excellent service in addition to a great setting with nice ambiance. Give dinner a shot here! We definitely did not regret giving it a chance after our visit! read more

Completely agree with what J.D.V said perfectly. I too have been coming to the hotel for years and this restaurant is almost unbelievably awful. He said "abominable" which is about the same. It's amazing after years of such awful feedback nothing has gotten any better or any closer to at least mediocre. Don't eat here unless you'll be satisfied with lousy-ness. We went for Thanksgiving dinner, 4:30 reservation. Both of us have food and beverage experience. First time in, excited to have a holiday dinner together as usually one or both of us have to work these event days. The ambiance was fine, the dining room was tidy, more than enough staff out front. The food, at a $55 price point? Buffet style, OK. Middle of the shift, not five minutes before close. I'm sitting here struggling for words, irritated at myself for not walking away.. three hour round trip, most everything else closed, and it can't *really* be this bad, can it? Yes, it can. No rolls, never restocked. She got the last dessert. The hot food.. dry potatoes, dryer stuffing, chewy ham. The turkey was rock hard, uncuttable with a knife and fork, almost jerky. Any chef content with serving that turkey should be fired. If the chef was unaware/busy and relying on front of house to monitor the quality of the food, then FOH should be fired. If back of house was a missing three people flying circus then those actually there have my empathy, but I've never paid more to get less. read more

Great food, but extremely slow service. We came to dinner during our stay at the Resort. The restaurant is nice for the area and there is a small, but decent bar area. We had pretty much everything on the winter menu. I dont recall being blown away by any of the dishes, but that each dish was very tasty. We ordered three t-bones, but our server told us that they only had the T-bones without the bone?? In any case, we got them and all were overcooked. My dining companions were too famished to send their meat back, but I did. When the server came back, she offered me the last T-bone (with a bone) she found in the back of the fridge ??? The second steak was cooked much better, perhaps the bone had something to do with how long to cook it, you think? My biggest problem with this restaurant was that the food came out a different times and it took over an 1 1/2 hours for our food to arrive after it was ordered. Our children's food came out last, very unusual. We were also charged for something we ordered, but never got. Since the food came out at various times, we did not know to ask about it until we had finished our entrees. Overcharging is a big no no for us when deciding the tip. Our server noticed our frustrations, apologized and gave us her employee discount. We really appreciated that so didn't fault the server. For a nicer, established restaurant, I expected better service and work flow. The food is deinitely worth a try if you have lots of time to kill. read more

Dear Liz, I noticed you responded to a review I posted some years back. We live in the neighborhood and used to enjoy going to the Altitude, but the last several years has been a disappointment. However, another couple and us went back last week to give you a chance. Madison was the bartender, waitress and hostess. She was very pleasant and attentive. We we're the only ones eating. We arrived a little before 6 P.M. we ordered from the lunch menu. To be quite honest, we thought your dinner prices were way out of line. Luckily, Madison, let us order from the luncheon menu. Two of us ordered hamburgers, which were delicious. The other two of us ordered the soup, which was also good. The resort needs to do a better job of promoting themselves and encourage the locals to come back. We used to enjoy special nights like Prime Rib Tuesday. We want the Resort to succeed. read more

This place has bad reviews. However, after looking over the menu I figured I would give it my own perspective. I came in late, 8:00, and the bartender and waitress asked me right away if I was looking to get dinner tonight and if they could assist me. I politely declined so I could read over the menu. After deciding to have some late dinner I asked if I would be able to sit at the window in the lounge chairs since it was just me. They willingly obliged. SERVICE 5 STARS. Food: Prawns with Piccata sauce and Seasonal Vegetable Medley*pics attached*;Delicious; Delivered to coffee table in timely fashion; Needed height but overall a nice presentation. ENTREE 5 STARS Dessert: Creme brûlée; Presentation slightly lacking but interesting*pics below*; flavor slightly lacking as well. Overall our food was good, not great - and I came in with lowered expectations based upon the recent reviews. We saw there was a full bar so my husband asked for a Negroni - to which our server said, "oh we don't have that". When she returned, we insisted she ask the bartender, and of course he knew what it was (they have a full bar btw). Then we ordered salads to start and then a main dish, but the salads were GIGANTIC and brought at the same time as our main dish. There's a reason we ordered salad "to start", and not as an accompaniment to our entree - huge pet peeve of mine to serve my starter at the same time as my main course. I ordered the halibut which was served on cheese tortellini in a creamy leek sauce, which was OK, but a little heavy (and weird). My husband had clams, which he said were full of sand, which kind of kills the whole experience. So, if you're looking for a fancy restaurant vibe, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a decent meal (albeit interesting food combinations, and OK food) this might fit the bill for you. I think there are probably other options that might be better if you're up for a little bit of a drive somewhere else. read more

We stayed at a resort near Altitude Restaurant, so were able to walk over and order take-out from this restaurant. We found the staff very accommodating and the Alaskan salmon entree was amazing. We had a drink on the outdoor patio while we waited for our food to be prepared. Nice to have restaurants like this available during long road trips! read more
