Breakfast Service was terrible. Biscuits were like hockey pucks. Clearly they had been microwaved. Even the gravy was gross I don't know how you mess up gravy. We came by to visit some family who was staying at the resort and we stopped into the restaurant twice and I'll say I was pretty satisfied. I'll start with my con, the only reason this place gets a 4 out of 5 from me is strictly a staffing issue. Was the service slow? No. Was it; fill your drink the second it hits half full? No. I've seen some other reviews surrounding their most visible waitress, Breanna. You can tell when someone likes what they do and the pride she takes in her work and the experience shows. When I see this young gal take on nearly the entire restaurant head on and still is able to interact positively with everyone is nothing short of impressive. Both times we went, I made it a point to try new foods every time. For a resort restaurant attached to a hotel, I was actually very happy with everything I was served from the finger foods to higher end fish or pastas. Their back of house team also has a good range and knows what they are doing. I happened to show up on an evening where they served clam chowder and let me tell you I was verrrry pleased with the quality. I cannot testify to the rest of my food but Manny is the guy who puts his pride into serving this secret recipe of his and it pays off, enough for me to take home a 2 liter container of it to enjoy for the weeks to come. I would be happy to make the stop again if I found my way nearby again and I can hope they find more equally motivated staff, it would really elevate the place to what I feel like they deserve. read more

My wife and I were staying at the resort so we ate at the restaurant, they were not busy, so the service was great. Our appetizer was the cheese board and it was awesome. Our dinner was great. I had the filet and my wife had the risotto with chicken. My steak was cooked perfectly, and the risotto had fresh morel mushrooms. I have been visiting the resort at the mountain for over ten years. I go every 2 to 3 months for some R and R and to get out of the city. The food and Service here is abominable. I have tried over and over again, knowing what I'm going to get and yet, it's still horrible and I guess my fault for continually thinking there will be a different outcome. Last night, I went in for a drink and to order food. Marty was behind the bar. Long time employee. There were 7 people at the bar, no other tables in the place at the time. I was ignored. for at least 10 mins. Ignored, so I went to the bar and got a drink and asked for a menu. I finished half my glass of wine before he came over to ask me my order. So I ordered and it took another 15 mins for my to go burger. There were NO other patrons at this time, just bartender gabbing with another employee. My burger was so disgusting I did not eat it. It looked as if it sat under the heat lamp for 10 mins. the lettuce, which was wild greens were super wilted, so gross I tried to take them off along with the tomato which was an END piece of a tomato and it was so wilted and HOT, my entire burger tasted like burnt tomato. I do NOT know why I keep giving this place another chance. I am at my wits end and I guess will never go back. it's a shame because I love staying up there. it's beautiful. read more

I felt compelled to write this review to really make sure future patrons have an idea of what they are walking into. If there is nothing else open and you are hungry maybe even hangry then this will suffice but the service was beyond slow and the server was not attentive. Down right will just ignore you. The first night we went to have dinner it was not very busy. Only 3 other tables and they were finishing up their dinner. Our server (I believe his name was Chris- younger guy wearing adidas) was very lackadaisical. He took our order and didn't write anything down. He came back 20 minutes later to serve 2 of the people in our party and say that he didn't put our appetizer in. I told him we still wanted it and he seemed put out that we still wanted it. After we finished our dinner the appetizer shows up and the server says he has never seen the cook make it like that. What does that mean?! It looked ok and tasted ok. Anyway we gave the guy a pass as we were hungry and tired. We decided to try the place one more time the next night. We were greeted by a women and thought perhaps we were going to have a different experience. It wasn't very busy. I counted 3 tables. Nope we were wrong. We sat down and we were ignored again. The same server from the night before had the audacity to say hello as he passes by instead of a "may I get you something to drink?" We should have probably just got up and left at this point. But we didn't because we were hungry and nothing else was open. I looked across the way and I noticed him berating another customer and making sure he knew how much dinner was going to cost. By the way the customer was black but not once did the server mention to us one thing about the cost of our dinner. Once again incredibly slow on drinks or any service. We had to ask the nice lady with blonde hair (I believe her name was Alice) and thankfully she helped us, but that was after we waited for 10 minutes We had to walk up to ask for our check. He didn't even have our check and automatically was stand-offish with my husband. We obviously had to get the manager involved. Which thankfully he did handle the situation but the server still had the nerve to say he was going to standby until we closed out. How about you go attend to your other patrons who desperately need service! This server is really doing a disservice to the restaurant and likely loosing many customers because of the horrible service. Here are some things you need to know to prepare you for your visit: - Make sure you and your children (if applicable) are prepared to wait about 10 minutes for a table at dinnertime, even with a reservation, because those empty tables you see, well, they're just a figment of your imagination. - When you order happy hour food at 5:45, make sure you remind the waiter to put the order in before 6pm, because if you don't, he might come back to you at 6:02 and tell you that happy hour is over, but you can easily get a different appetizer at full price. It'll only take another 20 minutes or so to get it to you. - When you order a steak rare, they might serve it to your well done. That's their way of trying to make sure you're not going to get salmonella poisoning. Don't worry, they'll make it again for you. It may take them another 20 minutes to get it done for you, but hey, it's worth the wait, right? - For breakfast, you might try a $9 omelette, but why not go for an $8 bowl of cereal? It'll only take them 20 minutes to serve it, but hey! Cereal and milk take a while to romance in the bowl. - If ordering a cup of coffee and you need cream, best ask for it at the time of ordering. It is going to take some time for the kitchen staff to go out back and milk the cow. At any meal, the servers may give you the check and apologize for the slow service, but NOT until that moment. I originally wanted to go with 1 star because I'm into food and I generally review restaurants primarily on their food, but maybe not everyone cares about just the food, and actually the ambience and the service were both quite wonderful. Walking through the front lobby to the restaurant there was complementary lemon & lime infused water and Starbucks coffee, luxury couches and a nice fireplace. The restaurant had comfy booths, elegant lights stringing down above the tables, floor to ceiling windows cover half the restaurant and look out to trees and the pool, and our server was very pleasant and kept our waters full without ever having to ask..........had I just ordered water I would have ranked this place 5 stars for sure. But I did not order just water. It is such a disappointment to come to a beautiful place only to discover the kitchen has zero love for food. Salad dressings clearly came from a big Sysco jar as they had that unmistakeable preservative flavor. The soup of the day was fairly good, but mostly made of heavy cream, and just above luke warm temperature, which made me wonder if it had just been pulled out of the fridge and hadn't quite warmed up. The bread (almost warm) did not have that "I was just baked today" feel. We ordered 4 dishes, were the only ones in the entire restaurant, and it took an hour to get our food. Then they came out 1 at a time. A soup & salad........then a sandwich..........then a burger...and everyone was half done by the time mine came out, which turned out to be a new menu item and perhaps the recipe wasn't quite perfected or the person making it just didn't care at all. The noodles were mush, the meat had no seasoning, the sauce was flavorless and the wrong color. I sent it back immediately but was hesitant to try anything else, or wait any longer. Opted for a roast beef sandwich, pan fried sliced bread, roast beef, white onions somewhere in between grilled and raw, edible... Something you might make at home if you weren't a chef. Got it just when everyone was completely finished, so I boxed half Togo. Set it on the table when I got home, came back a few minuets later and it was gone. Found remnants of the box by the dog. We found a room service menu on the back of the grounds map that the front desk furnished us at check-in and decided to use our $40 Groupon credit towards dinner in our room. We ordered $65 worth - a steak, a trout entree, a ceaser salad, and two soft drinks. First, calling the restaurant to order was haphazard and awkward. I wasn't asked how I'd like my steak to be cooked or which sides I would like with my entrees. Second, I was told it would take 25-35 minutes and it took over an hour. They recruited the nice young lady from the front desk to deliver us our meals but neglected to inform her of our entire order so she had to run back for our salad and soft drinks. They had also given her an empty bottle of steak sauce for us that had to be replaced for a new one - this one also almost empty. Since she worked at the front desk she was able to take the salad and soft drinks off our bill so that's good. Third, the food was all cold. The steak was rubbery from sitting at room temp for too long, and the trout was a bit dry. Fourth, the gal on the phone when I ordered did not inform me of the $10 room service charge that we were surprised with at check-out. read more

I used to love dining at the Resort's restaurant but the new menu along with the new chef leave a lot to be desired. My husband and son ordered the halibut which was dry and undesirable. Both of them did like the mash potatoes on the brighter side. My mother and I ordered the Dungeoness crab salad which was shockingly different than we expected. The crab was chopped up and mashed with vegetables and was odd. The salad dressing was an Asian style dressing which didn't match the crab. None of us are interested in returning or giving it another try, especially when the Rendevous is nearby and has consistently good food. Additionally, all of us would prefer the food at the Burro Loco which is a lot less expensive but certainly a ton tastier. Our waitress was fine. In a nutshell, overpriced, not fabulous food. Fortunately, the house wine had a good flavor. If you want a fine dining experience with quality food, go to the Rendevous. If you want great food at great price point, in a casual environment, the Burro Loco is for you. My son would like to give the Altitude restaurant zero stars, regrettably that is not one of the options. read more

One of their upscale bars/dinner spots here. We got there and sat down, semi busy. Bar tender had no personality very rude and not pleasant. My wife asked for a hot water and he said fine but it will cost you $2. So then she said if you going to charge me I'll just do tea. He gave a look and walked away. Brought me my whiskey and forgot her water. He said he would be right back with it but then we cancelled the water/tea. We got there at 4pm they had their chamber event at 5pm so the place got packed. Ordered the chicken wings and fish and chips. Wings had good flavor just needed to be more crispy. Softer wings bug me :) Fish and chips we good, fries prob the best thing we ate. Fish batter needed a little more seasoning but once u added the tarter sauce it was fine. read more

My mom and I stayed at the Resort for 2 nights while visiting Oregon. We had breakfast and this restaurant twice and dinner twice. Everything we ordered for dinner was amazing! The first night we had dinner we shared a Caprese salad. They also bring garlic bread to the table which is always a plus, who doesn't love free bread and butter. I had the wild boar with polenta and broccoli and my mom had the seafood chowder, both very good. The food was so good we were too full for dessert so we went back to our room and relaxed for a few hours. We came back later that night for dessert and ordered the flourless chocolate cake and the tiramisu. Both were very good but the chocolate cake was better. The next morning we went for their continental breakfast before hiking Mount Hood. They have a good selection to choose from with breakfast potatoes, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, cereal, and pastries. They also had a good selection of teas and decaf and regular coffee available with to go cups. After a long day of hiking we went back for dinner. To start we split a Caesar salad and of course has the yummy bread and herb butter. I ordered the steak tenderloin which came with potatoes and asparagus and my mom ordered the halibut over gnocchi. Both were cooked perfectly. We came back later that night for dessert and ordered the flourless chocolate cake again and mango sorbet. We really wanted to try the creme brûlée but they were sold out so I'm sure it's good! Will definitely be ordering it next time I am visiting. Overall I think the restaurant was very good, the service was good, and the prices are reasonable considering the location and quality of the restaurant. You get generous portion too which I always love. Some higher end restaurants serve too small of portions and this place definitely doesn't skimp on their serving sizes. It took 5 minutes to even get a hello as we waited to be seated. Then it was a only a hello and she went to water her celery for a couple more minutes, before she asked if we wanted a table. Duh. Her service was terribly slow, like 10-20 minutes between visits each time. There was only one other table, which also had a birthday. She forgot my tea, & was quite slow with the other table too. Our clams were over done, our kids burger & partner's steak were both charred, my salmon dry & a minuscule portion with a couple watercress leaves. It was bad. Then the free birthday dessert cake must have been a week old. Looked like lovely art, but was dry as a desert & hard. We will Not give the Altitude another chance. We knew that before. We had a reservation and were seated very quickly. Our waiter was fantastic and really the only saving grace of the restaurant. The prices were inflated for the quality and presentation of the food. I had the NY strip rare and it was tasty. The polenta was dry and tough. I had never seen it in this state. My guess is that it was scooped out and placed in the oven/warmer hours ahead of time. The few slices of carrots and squash were good, but nothing to rave about. My partner's rib eye was requested medium and was pretty bloody. We were left feeling sad about the entire experience. The ambience was LOUD, so loud. Lots of toddlers, babies and families filled the dining room. I think they were going for a fine dining effect in this restaurant, but have seriously failed. Only go for the beers and the view of the golf course. The place seems to go through employees faster than any tourist spot on the mountain, so the food is hit and miss. Maybe if you are a group such as a wedding party where tour meal is pre-planned, but other than that, the mountain has way better options to choose from. We stayed here a week ago and was excited to give this place a shot after reading its menu despite the reviews. We were told in a Saturday night by the front desk that the place will be packed and we made reservations but were surprised to find only two other tables filled. The reason this place even gets two stars is due to service. Our server was polite and attentive but I feel even he knew the food was unforgivable. We ordered an app and two entrees but then the server returned apologetic due to the kitchen changing its menu and they didn't have those ingredients...ok, so we choose two other dishes in which he again returns saying one of them isn't available. It was like a game where the server was left in the dark and out of about nine entrees we had six choices left that we wouldn't really pick in the first place. We battled between staying and leaving but one of our dishes were already being made. All would've been forgiven if the dishes would've tasted good but don't let the fancy place fool you...it was awful. The prawn wontons were ok, I've gotten way better at a hole in the wall Asian restaurants. I got the prawn linguini which drowned in a couple cms of oil and had no flavor despite huge chunks of garlic. I felt like I was eating the plainest butter noodles for $24. My husband got the sirloin w/ veggies and potatoes and everything was so dry. There was no sauce, no flavor, and he couldn't eat it. Our server offered a ten percent discount but our meal still came out to $60 making us feel robbed and still left hungry. I understand the transition of the kitchen leaving some miscommunication but serving us those dishes was the worst. We ended up going to the complimentary continental buffet because who could mess that up right? Besides the selection of fruit, the warm selection was minimal with both banana bread and banana pancakes as though they were desperate to get rid of some and the only meat was a random sausage gravy (seemed like a cheap option) without biscuits. I asked a server and they pointed towards the bagels, same same right? Funny being a highly respected hotel that they resort to this. First time to the Resort at the Mountain. Well maintained and beautiful restaurant. We had a resort credit that came with Groupon so we saved it for breakfast before heading home. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves which was surprising but quite nice while watching Sunday football. We were very hesitant coming here because of the negative reviews. So thankful we said let's just give it a try and had breakfast here. No matter where I go if someone has chicken fried steak I get it. This was easily one of the best! My wife and son loved their meals as well. Very friendly waitress and was always prompt with coffee refills and anything else we needed. The upscale look of the restaurant is misleading considering the the taste of the food and the service. We we were charged a gratuity for having a "large" party and they did not state this when we came in. One staff tried being helpful but seemed to just need help for herself. Wow! Great service and delicious entrees! We were hesitant to try based on some of the reviews we had read, but so happy we went there. We ordered both the halibut and the salmon dishes. Elegant presentations and exquisite tasting. Wish I had tried the asparagus soup because it looked yummy! We did have the calamari appetizer which we would not order again. It was flavorless and hadn't drained well from the deep fryer. Both fish dishes were perfectly cooked and seasoned--good sear on outside and succulent inside. The sauces for both were perfectly paired because each enhanced its own fish so well. We tried each sauce on the other to see and it really did make a difference. Environment: very modern, some aspects were a bit confusing. Service: The staff was friendly despite being inconsistent and inefficient. The first time we came to the restaurant was the only night the entire family was able to come together for a meal while we were up there and we ended up eating so long, despite being one of the first tables to order, that 2/3 of the family ended up leaving without eating. We were given excuses that the rest of the restaurant guest said they were in a rush to go to a meeting after they ate... So were the people at our table, but our waiter had disappeared for nearly an hour and never gave us a chance to let him know. Both times we are here I ordered the same thing for dinner: the honey shrimp pasta. Unfortunately I did not receive the same dish... The first time I ate the dish it was beautiful. The pasta was sweet from the honey and also had a smoky tone. The second evening I ordered the pasta it was a completely different pasta noodle, and had barely any flavor at all. Our table ordered nearly one of each desert, each one was fantastic! We also ordered desert grown up beverages. I ordered the carrot cake. I still dream of that carrot cake. In conclusion. The service we received from our waiter was 1st class he was awesome. The food was ok, the issue was we sat close to the kitchen and the only way to describe it, is to say it was a party in the kitchen. I barely can finish half of it. My husband was really upset to see that we were still having to pay full price for the chicken after we told our server... We barely able to eat those chicken. Finally our server talked to someone and we didn't have to pay for the chicken and we got discount on the crab salad... which I think was really fair. read more
