Lotta made me not 1 but 3 different outfits for my wedding weekend which became some of the most special details of my whole wedding. Lotta could not have been sweeter or more talented. She has such an incredible eye for design & was so amazing handling the family heirlooms which we reworked into incredible modern pieces. We reworked my mom's rehearsal dinner suit (made the top fit correctly & turned it from a top & skirt to a top & pants to fit my style & measurements), used pieces of my mom & MIL's wedding dresses to make a new family heirloom robe (which I wore while getting ready the morning of my wedding) AND my mom's wedding dress which we turned into my second look. Diana did such an amazing job with my wedding dress! She listened to my feedback about elements I wanted to keep that might otherwise be lost with tailoring, and was really patient with me as she explained different concepts like bustling and cups. I will also say, I was SURE my bustle would not last the night - my dress was heavy and all my friends before me ended up having to resort to safety pins midway through their weddings. Not mine! Stayed secure all night which was such a relief. The price can be a bit shocking at first, but the quality is there both in the time spent and finished product. I rarely post reviews but Liam at reception and Diana, my tailor, were so helpful and delivered such great work. I had a lehenga for a wedding with some complicated tailoring on gauze, sequins - letting out the skirt, pulling material from the veil to cover it - and Diana did such an excellent job widening the waist by a full 2 inches, that you couldn't tell it was tailored at all. They also did a great job bringing the waist and seams in on leather pants. I've already returned with two more wedding gowns and will continue to use this location for future tailoring! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Alteration Specialists! Because of COVID, I didn't have the traditional shopping experience to get my wedding dress and opted to buy one online. The dress came in a bit too long and had a slight neckline issue, so I booked an appointment with Alteration Specialists. My mom and I got there about 20 minutes early, but when I called asking if we could come up and wait, they said to come up right away and could take us early. The staff was so friendly and kind. The studio is clean, great views, and has a very comfortable and relaxed feel, nothing pretentious or overly stuffy. I hadn't booked with a specific staff member, but was so lucky to have Matt (head of bridal) work with me. He listened to what I was hoping to change about the dress and immediately got to work with pinning. He was so friendly and made our appointment so enjoyable. When I went to check out, Matt had decided not to charge me for the neckline adjustment, which was a really nice surprise. My dress will be ready in about a month and I cannot wait to try it on again. I left the studio on Cloud 9 and so happy and excited to get married. Really sweet and did my dress on time, but not at all what I asked for. I showed the tailor exactly where I needed the alterations and they just didn't take out the amount of fabric that I asked for. Over $300 later and I still had to to pin the dress the day of to fit. Don't recommend. read more

BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! God bless Alteration Specialists SoHo! I got a bridesmaid dress altered here and had a wonderful experience. The location is beautiful and the people are great. I went to go pick up my dress on Sunday and realized they were closed Sunday and Monday. The flight to the wedding is Tuesday at 7 am and I was full-blown panicked I was going to ruin this wedding because I didn't get my dress. I emailed and DM'd them on Instagram and someone texted me saying they would open the store for me today (Monday) just so I could get the Bridesmaid dress in time. They saved the day and I am forever grateful!!! I will only use them moving forward. Thank you so much for being kind about my ridiculously stupid mistake! Lesson learned! read more

I was a Covid bride and began alterations 18 months ago. In that time our wedding was rescheduled 3 times and I had a baby. Myrna was able to do wonders with my original wedding dress. My wedding was 4 months after welcoming our little one and I wasn't able to get back to my original size but Myrna made it work through her amazing creativity and skill. She basically took the dress apart and remade it and on a rush (3 weeks)! I ended up liking the dress more than the original and you would never have known it was altered so drastically. While I trust Alteration Specialists to always do a great job, it goes without saying that their pricing has gotten out of control! It feels as though they are stealing from customers with the pricing they are asking for, no matter how amazing their seamstresses might be. For a short dress, the exact alterations at one of the best bridal boutiques on the UES cost ($350) less than half of what they are charging at Alteration Specialists ($880) for the same job! I was also hit with an additional "service fee" in SoHo on top of the exorbitant alteration pricing during my last visit, which they said was standard but that I have never been charged at any of the other locations before. The prices are way way way too high and I hope this is reevaluated and brought down to what is fair for the sake of all Alteration Specialists clients moving forward! read more

STAY FAR AWAY and DO NOT TRUST this place. I came in 2 weeks ago for a dress alteration that was rushed for my brothers wedding in Italy. It was promised to be ready on a specific date and I paid a hefty fee for rush. When I called the day off to pick it up after not receiving a email notification, they assured me it was there and ready for pick up. I showed up and my dress was no where to be found. Not only did they lie to me that it was ready for pick up, they continuously lied to me about it being in an Uber downstairs after waiting an hour and a half. I am now heading to Italy with no dress, and a wasted 450$ that I paid just for the alterations and rush fee---forgetting the cost of the actual dress. I am completely devastated and after all of this, they could not even give me a managers phone number. Just an email address. They also couldn't give me the rest of the items back that I gave to them at my initial appointment that were not for rush. I am extremely disappointed on how poorly this situation was handled. The girls at the Crosby office could not even get in contact with a manager to help solve the problem. I was told I may hopefully get an email tomorrow. I am now heading to my brothers wedding in Italy with no dress, and no refund for the $ I paid to alternations specialist. They talk a great talk, and give you discounts to write a review but I am serious in that DO NOT GO HERE. DO NOT TRUST THEM. I am devastated and would steer anyone and everyone away from this place. read more

Brought my wedding dress here. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Diana gave honest feedback on how best to fit the dress and what bustling would look best. I'm very happy with the results. Cons: during my second fitting, I noticed the skirt of my dress was very dirty and had pencil markings. When I asked the tailor (not Diana), she denied that it came from their shop, rubbing the white skirt on the floor saying, "look our floors are clean," only to reveal more dirt picked up on my dress. Given that I only wore the dress at this shop, and paid over $900 to alter this dress, I was very disappointed. Finally, when picking up my dress, I felt very pressured to leave a review while three staff members hovered over me, even asking me to confirm it had posted before I left. Makes me think some of the 5-star reviews are disingenuous read more

Latta, the tailor, was exemplary. I couldn't be more pleased with the results and highly recommend Latta for all bridal needs. She listens to goals and desires fits and results, and wow is she skilled! The soho location itself was clean, organized, always on time and ready to go for appointments, easy to get ahold of, and let me come back for 3 fittings, because of course everything needs to be perfect when you're a bride. 10/10 would recommend and will come again read more
