I've been a member for over 30 years and have never been treated poorly until today. I deposited a large check today and asked if I could have it clear within three days. I spoke with the manager at the Riverside location if this could happen, but he insisted that it wouldn't happen stating the rules wouldn't allow it. We all know that the money would transfer between banks within 48 hours and would be available when I needed it. I informed the manager that due to him not working with me that I would be closing out my account and taking my money else ware. He commented, "do what you have to do" and walked away. I deposit hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and have had at least 10 car loans since banking there. Their lack of service has lost me as a customer. read more

Do not bother going care if you can just go to schools first I've had Altura for over 6 years and not one time have they approved me for a small loan I don't have any negative credit anything I'm not really sure why they denied it when I was with schools first they approved me for a loan and also to car loans I thought being with Altera would be better since I work for the county but they are a terrible bank and they are terrible to their customers if you want a credit union don't bother with this place just go somewhere else I'll be removing my account from them and going back to schools first read more

My wife and I have been banking with Altura CU since it was "Riverside County's Credit Union". I like that they have branches all over Riverside and indeed all over Riverside County, so I am seldom far from one. We have both checking and savings accounts. In 2021 we refinanced our home mortgage with Altura at a very favorable rate. I seldom have to go into the branch, but whenever I do I have found the staff to be courteous and efficient. I do have to deduct one star because some years ago I applied for a credit card issued by Altura and was declined, despite stellar credit, so I have to maintain an account with a different credit union to have access to my Visa card. read more

Worse than a bank. They have an option to email customer service but when you do a day later they'll tell you to call in. Why bother to have an email option? The problem with calling in is there are long waits and there's no need to go through the 7 security questions just to ask a general (non-account) quesiton. CSRs aren't trained to answer anything more than very simple account inquiries so they have to go ask someone. Unfortunately customer service at credit unions across the board has deteriorated to the point where they're worse than the big banks. I can't recommend them. read more

Terrible customer service. If you make a big purchase and you clear it with their fraud department, they will still put a freeze on your account without notifying you, which will not allow any bills you paid to go through. In turn, causing a return payment fee with the bill companies, leading to a drop in your credit score. When Altura is confronted with this, they basically tell you there's nothing they can do and they will not reimburse your fees. So, basically it's not their fault or their problem. Horrible customer service. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!! read more

Where to start, we came in for my daughter cheer club account after being denied in other banks, we been greeted by the manager welcomed us reviewed our documents we anticipated it will be a no, he reviewed the documents and passed us to Ana who was very kind and opened the account for us, not only that, Bashar got on the phone with Venmo and got our transfers sorted out they didn't have to do that, that kind of service makes us members for life. Horrible customer service! I have done business with this credit union for a longtime in the city I reside in. However I work in Riverside I went into this location to do a withdrawal. I only had my ATM card/with my pin on me however they make you bring a picture ID as well to do withdraw inside the branch. I have my DL on my digital wallet. But they refused to accept that. The branch manager Daisy said once we get familiar with your face we will be able to not require your DL to do a withdrawal. I did ask her if she can make an exception? I was able to tell her my amounts of my direct deposit from work. Pulled up my online pay roll account from my work. Which also has my DL. The answer was still no WTH. So now I need to engage in conversation with all the employees there . Because on the next visit they can recognize me then the DL will not be required? Due to the inconvenience I have closed my account. What's the point of having a ATM card with your pin. PNC bank as well as Wells Fargo do not require to show your DL for minimal withdrawals. read more

After my initial experience with Auto Expert, Altura reached out again and another employee with Auto Expert reached out to help me. My second experience was much better and there was a lot of clarity up front about my options, what I was paying for and no pressure from the salesman. I'm not sure what happened during the first one but I was able to get a car through the program and it made the signing and search a lot easier. No hidden or unexplained fees or pressure to buy. I would recommend using the program but making sure you still do your research thoroughly beforehand and ask questions. So we went in to check the rates for a car loan and it was disappointing. Checked in and waiting for a guy to just slowly walk over and basically ask what we wanted. No "hello how are you guys doing" or let's come in and talk in my office. Just basically hey all I can do is fill out an application form for you (which you can do online). I told him hey at Arrowhead they told me in 5 mins what the rate would be. He said well I don't know the specifics which I replied I can give you that information right now. Says he can't help me cause he doesn't know what the underwriter will offer and that I'd have to wait 2 hours for a reply. This place is funny. Don't go here go to Arrowhead or another credit union. And please no one patronize me with a reply saying oh we're sorry. Train your employees better. read more

Tried to open a business account and was told that I needed a "fictitious business license" to open my account. I called BS. You can only legally apply for a fictitious business license if you do so within 2 months of opening your business... mine has been operating for 6 years. I came in with my business license and they would not accept it. I turned around and applied ONLINE for a business account with BOA and in 24 hours they approved it. They looked up my business on a government website to verify my social, EIN etc. something Altura would not do. I have my car loan and two accounts with them. I am very disappointed.
