The two sides I picked were the Brussels sprouts -- which were fire -- and the mashed potatoes. I LOVE Thanksgiving, and it gave it that nostalgic homemade holiday vibes. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare: soft, tender, juicy... pure perfection. Not gonna lie, we had a huge spread and everything was so yummy. The first thing I noticed was the presentation. Every dish came out absolutely beautiful -- 20/10. A few other things we tried were the quesabirria, pork belly, aguachile, salmon & shrimp sushi, and the guacamole with chips. Not only is the food magical, but the ambiance is even more gorgeous. The moment you step inside, it feels like you've been transported to a luxury resort straight out of your dreams. This was my second time visiting Alux Cocina, and unfortunately nothing has improved. The first time I came was for their grand opening. We waited nearly two hours for a single drink and eventually left because the restaurant was so disorganized. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, assuming they were still working through the challenges of opening a new business. Months later, I decided to give them another chance, and sadly it was the same experience. The restaurant has so much potential, but it appears to be severely understaffed. Employees seem overwhelmed, confused, and there doesn't appear to be any clear organization or management in place. To make matters worse, the food arrived cold and was disappointing in quality. Long wait times might be understandable if the food made up for it, but that simply wasn't the case. I really wanted to like this place because the concept and atmosphere are great, but after two poor experiences, I can't recommend it. Save your time and money and visit Ay Mi Pa in Riverside instead. You'll get better service, better food, and a much better overall dining experience. read more

I've been to Alux Bar & Grill several times now, and it has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Moreno Valley. The atmosphere is beautiful, the restaurant is always clean, and the service has been consistently friendly and attentive. The menu has so much variety. We've tried the tacos, sushi, burgers, seafood, wings, and handcrafted cocktails, and everything has been fresh and full of flavor. It's hard to find a place that does both Mexican food and sushi this well. Their margaritas are excellent, and Happy Hour is one of the best deals in Moreno Valley. If you're looking for brunch, dinner, date night, or a place to watch the game with friends, Alux Bar & Grill is definitely worth visiting. I didn't try the chilaquiles, I just found the birria underwhelming. Perhaps my choices were questionable, should've gone for the menudo, everyone on our table said it was a decent flavor. I have to suggest a spicy salsa. There was a chili oil option but all oil, no paste, the other red option was not the right consistency. I went twice and ordered a lot of food and was not impressed. To their defense, I got it to go. The ribeyes didn't have much flavor. The wagyu burger was very basic. The ribeye tacos were a gray color and all you can taste is lime in ALL the food. The chicharrones were over cooked a little. The corn appetizer was ok. They out pickled onions on everything. When we walked in, it was mostly empty except for a table of of 8. There were three staff sitting at the bar when we arrived, and we weren't sure if we should seat ourselves or wait to be greeted. After about five or ten minutes, someone finally came over to greet us a. Even then, it took a while before anyone said anything to us after we set. The bartender eventually came by to take our order. We ordered our food and drinks, and it took 20 minutes just to get the drinks and about 45 minutes for the food--even though there was basically only one table besides ours. We also asked for chips and salsa, which never arrived. During the meal, the executive chef came by to try and sell us alcohol by the bottle, which felt awkward. The whole vibe was just a little off. As for the food: I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and asked for my eggs over easy, but they came over hard. We also tried the chiliquiles which were just okay. The food looked fancy, but it didn't match the taste. The interior is really pretty, and the ambiance is nice, but the music was too loud to seem like a nightclub during the afternoon. but the service was slow... ready to. Medicore experience and rating for the service. What really bothered me was that I was told there are no paper menus, I had to scan a QR code that is etched into a woodblock on the table. Somewhat annoying, but it gets worse. The QR code doesn't work with Samsung or Google Pixel phones, so neither my date or I could look at the menu. Then, the bartender comes around and scan it on his iPhone and says it works with iPhone and offers to let me look at the menu on his phone. That's no way to run a business. Then he tells me I can go to their website and see the menu. I have to ask for water and when I do decide on a dish, the cook comes out and tells me that don't have that meat, and if I wanted to pick something else. My niece told me to send an email about this but honestly, who reads emails anymore? After seeing videos online, we decided to give this place a try, so we drove the 2 hours to get here; and while at first glance it seemed a bit underwhelming I believe we came on a slow night. The food was good (although my medium-well filet mignon came out medium-raw) and the server was great. He quickly remedied the error with drinks and desserts on the house. There were a couple groups that were celebrating birthdays so the servers came out with noisemakers and sparklers which livened up the atmosphere. The DJ booth was empty but we did see a costumed guy at the bar which was pretty funny. The reason for the 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because of the automatic gratuity added to the bill for our party of 5. Who does that? The restaurant was just dark enough for us not to notice and the fact that the bill had suggested tip costs with the automatic gratuity included in that suggestion is unreal. So, the 22% tip we were trying to give quickly turned into a 39% tip. Alux - do better! Post this "fee" or let the customer know when you drop off the bill that the gratuity is already included. Alux is a recently opened Mexican dinner and drinks spot along Alessandro Blvd in Moreno Valley, and it looks absolutely stunning inside. Upon entering, there's a small, beautifully decorated waiting area, with wood details that give off a Tulum-inspired vibe. The main dining area is spacious, with plenty of larger tables for groups as well as more intimate seating options. To the right, there's a brightly lit bar with two TVs, adding a lively feel to the space. We visited on a busy Saturday evening, and the place was nearly packed. We decided to sit at the bar. Throughout the night, we sampled four of their signature cocktails: the Alux (Mezcal, Ancho Reyes, Hibiscus, Lime, Agave), the Xalvaje (Rum, Passion Fruit, Pineapple, Grenadine, Lime), the Tamarind Mezcalita (Mezcal, Cointreau, Tamarind, Lime, Agave), and the Guava Paloma (Tequila, Grapefruit, Lime, Guava). All of the drinks were well-balanced, though on the lighter side in terms of alcohol strength. Our favorites were the Xalvaje, followed closely by the Tamarind Mezcalita. However, since Alux just opened, the service had some hiccups. We never got offered water refills and had to ask for them. We also ordered the Pollito a la Pibil (shredded chicken, broccolini, sweet potato fries), but it took an hour and five minutes for our food to arrive. While the presentation was nice, the portion was quite small for $30--only nine sweet potato fries! Sadly, the chicken was overcooked and dry, so we sent it back. The manager was very understanding and offered a complimentary dish. We went with his recommendation of the Aguachiles from the appetizer menu, and it was a great choice--the shrimp were perfectly textured, and the accompanying salsas were delicious. Overall, Alux has a lot of potential. Once the staff gets into a rhythm after the opening weeks, I'm confident the quality and service will improve. The ambiance is fantastic, and they offer a happy hour Monday through Thursday from 3-7 PM with some good deals. However, I wish there was more flexibility with their daily drink and food specials.
