Brewery X Huckleberry Seltzer at 5% Refreshing and lots of huckleberry flavor. Love this.

Very clean place, surprising a large selection of local brewery beers and their own selection. In addition, delicious menu of Mexican food to enjoy. A bright spot in Moreno Valley.

    Tacos ahogados- so delicious

The atmosphere is always fun! Usually some sort of sporting event is being broadcasted on their TVs. The staff is always helpful and super nice. They serve specialty beers (can you tell I am not a beer connoisseur ) but all I can say is there different types of micheladas are delicious. Now the food!! I have never been disappointed! Their heartbreaker (actually all) hotdogs are so good. The bun is what sets them apart. Its like having a hot dog in Mexicali. Follow their instagram so you can find out about their specials. So far when I try something... delicious. My go to though is the chile relleno burrito. Best in town.

We ordered a California burrito, two carne asada burritos and a Jamaica. Everything was delicious. Service was good and staff were friendly. This place is a bit on the pricey side but the quality of the food is good. This place is usually always packed and it's a good place to go to watch the game. We ordered for takeout this time around and the process was smooth and everyone was satisfied.

Sonora Grill is well-known throughout The IE. It's worth a visit if you're heading toward Vegas, Escondido, or Palm Springs. The bread and tortillas are house-made and the service is friendly & attentive serving the community. It's located in a typical Southern California strip mall with Lumpia and Pan Dulce only a few steps away. We had the Sonoran Dog with fries and Heartbreaker, which is a footlong bacon-wrapped 100% beef dog served with beans and pico de gallo on top. The beans are very delicious and the hot dog was tasty without being too salty. They also have outdoor seating and a belt for the line, so I'm certain the breakfast, lunch, and dinner rushes are consistent. They have an extensive beer list and a few seltzers, kombuchas, and hard ciders.

Sonoran Hot Dog and California Burrito

Heard good things about this spot on social media and wanted to try something different than your standard Mexican restaurant so we gave this a try on a Saturday night! Got the Sonoran hot dog and the California burrito. The hot dog was pretty good, the toppings were tasty and blended well with the hot dog. The sausage was grilled pretty well, I thought the bun itself was just okay. It could have been toasted better. Felt like it was good but was just missing something to make the dish stand out more. The burrito on the other hand was amazing. One of the best I've had from anywhere. We got carne asada in the burrito and it was top notch. Cooked really well and blended perfectly with the rest of the burrito. I was really impressed! Service was good here as well and gave us some solid recs, The restaurant is nice with plenty of TVs playing sports and was very clean. The plaza it's in is a bit underwhelming but overall not terrible. Overall, had a good dinner here and really want to try some of their other dishes!

Always tasty! Super fresh and hot authentic Mexican food. Loved the portions. The staff is really friendly & helpful too. Gotta love the cantina vibes also.

Seriously, who wraps a burrito in bacon. Hilarious. So good. Sauces are good too.
    Eric R.

Good food- excellent service. Loved the experience overall. I loved the atmosphere. I got nachos, and most everyone else got burritos. The burritos are obnoxiously large. The bacon wrapped one my friend got looked so unique.

Bacon wrapped El Chapo burrito super filling!

This place screams football season! A must visit and such a great selection of food! Loved the surf and turf nachos a must try! Huge portions the Nachos come out in a tray definitely for 2! Brunch vibes chilaquiles with a cold beer or a yummy iced cafe de la Hoya on a Sunday. Perfection on a Sunday! Lots of TVs and games are all on. 10/10 this place never misses!

1 star : Service was really good 1 star : clean establishment 1 star : friendly environment 1 star: price The food was mediocre.. I ended up throwing 1/2 away. It lacked flavor unfortunately. I got the loaded fries. However my Mail said the chicken salad was bomb. All in all I'd probably go back

    The classic burrito.

Do yourself a favor and stop here for the flavor. I ordered the classic burrito with Asada and it was incredibly flavorful. The portions are big and the hot salsa they have delivers a perfect amount of heat and great flavor. It's one of the best burritos I've ever had.

    Mango Michelada
    Korina R.

I was really craving a Mango Michelada and stumbled upon Sonora Grill, and really glad I did! We were greeted as soon as we entered and they answered any questions we had and let us know which items were favorites. My hubby decided on the Surf & Turf Nachos and I picked the Cali Burrito with Carne Asada. To drink I got my Mango Michelada which was really delicious and refreshing! My Cali burrito was also really good! The carne asada was really flavorful you could tell they use quality meat! The salsa they gave with it really tied it all together. Now the nachos were the real star! The shrimp was huge! The Carne Asada was juicy, there was just the right amount of cheese and beans on the nachos and the guac salsa was just *chefs kiss* The restaurant was split into two sides, the bar side where there was multiple TVs and music playing and the regular side where there was a couple tables. We'll be back for sure to enjoy some Sunday football and grab a couple beers with food!

Bacon wrapped burrito, PB&J habanero wings
    Lizette I.

Everything we had was delicious. The service was on point, everyone was very friendly. The restaurant is very clean with a fun environment. You must try the PB&J habanero wings, the sauce was amazing sweet and spicy and the wings were very crispy. We also had the jalapeño poppers stuffed with chorizo and cream cheese, Sonora hot dogs, bacon wrapped burrito, nachos and of course dessert.

Ask the Community - Sonora Grill

Do they use lard in their beans?

EVERY self respecting Mexican restaurant uses Manteca (lard) in their beans!!

Does Sonora Grill serve gluten free food?

Not really. Corn tortillas are only available on Tuesday.

    Do they have happy hour?

No they don't but I still highly recommend. Carne asada super fries are the best and HUGE. Feeds 2 easily I'm a big guy and I could not finish.

Are there Taco Tuesday specials here?

Yes, dollar tacos but on select meat.

What is the average cost of a meal for two people minus alcohol?

Usually less than $20, although the larger items on the menu (El Chapo, The Heartbreaker) can cost more.

Last night was the exception, and unfortunately it was a bad one. We arrived around 7:45 on a Friday, fully expecting a wait. No issue there -- the place was busy, people were coming and going, all good signs. But getting a party of 5 seated turned into an ordeal. Nearly an hour passed before they cleared a spot for us in the back of the bar area. Fine. It's 8:40, we're committed at this point. Chips came out immediately, which was a small win. Then we sat. And sat. No server, no drinks, nothing. Around 8:50 I walked back up front because it was clear we'd been forgotten. To his credit, the host handled it immediately and said he'd get someone over right away. Server showed up around 8:55, took the order, and disappeared. Food came out about 15 minutes later -- but items were all over the place temperature-wise. My wife's burrito was flat cold. She didn't send it back. After nearly 90 minutes just to get a meal, she was done. She just wanted out. Getting the check was mercifully fast, but the damage was done. This visit has genuinely soured her on the place, and I don't think we'll be back anytime soon. Some nights just go sideways -- I get it -- but this one may have been too damaging.

I found out about it through my cousin, who's a UCR alum, and I'm really glad I finally got to try it. The staff were super nice and attentive, constantly coming by our table to check if we needed more water, tortillas, or anything else we might want. Even with how busy it was, they still made sure everyone was taken care of, which I really appreciated. The restaurant was packed, and it actually surprised me because I don't usually see that many people at restaurants in Riverside. The energy inside felt lively but still comfortable. One of my favorite parts was the fresh tortillas. They come out hot and fresh from the oven, and you can literally watch them being made right in front of you, which made it even better. And the best part is they're free. We ordered the carne fajitas and chile relleno. The fajitas were incredible, the meat was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor, with that perfect smoky sear that comes from being cooked fresh on a hot skillet. Everything came out sizzling and stayed flavorful with every bite. The chile relleno was also really good, with a nice balance of savory and slightly creamy filling that paired well with the sauce. It was actually my first time trying fajitas, and I can confidently say I'll be ordering them again the next time I come back. I definitely plan on returning while I'm still at UCR to make up for all the years I didn't know this place existed.

We have not been here since the 90's and I have to say, it was much better back then. All in all, there is just no flavor. The salsa tasted like watery tomatoes, our waitress gave us a little side of habanero salsa to incorporate with it but that heat is the extreme for me. We ordered the Mesquite chicken and steak fajitas which were less than average. Not sure if it was just a bad day, but the taste of the protein did not match up to the wonderful smell of BBQ outside the restaurant. The tortillas were just ok, first batch was not even warm. My Michelada was good though. Bummer visit after being away for so long. Looks like the interior could stand a makeover.
