I am leaving a review specifically for Hector Rubio. I believe I left one a year or two ago on Google Reviews but wanted to leave one again after he was here today to perform another service. I believe Hector has been resolving my plumbing needs for about the last six years. I first heard about Hector when he performed a number of plumbing services for my daughter in her home. She is equally happy with his work. We both request Hector every time we need plumbing services. We are willing to wait for his availability because he has proven himself to be a true professional in so many ways. Hector is such a nice man. He arrives ready for work and completes the job in an acceptable time if not sooner. He is always so very pleasant. He doesn't get frustrated or upset if things don't go exactly as planned. He is very diligent and works hard to resolve the problem. He always succeeds in resolving the problem on the spot. Something that is also important to me is that I feel comfortable having Hector work in my home. He is so personable, kind and friendly. Even if I am asking him a question he continues to work diligently on what he is doing. He does not waste time the company's time. He also doesn't make a mess. He is careful to clean up after himself which I appreciate. As you can see, I like Hector. I will certainly continue to hire Alvarez Plumbing for all of my plumbing needs as long as Hector works there. He is a gem of a person and a gem of an employee! read more

I've used their service twice so far, each time they have been prompt for the service time which I like. I've been fortunate enough that I don't have much experience dealing with plumbers, but the plumber that has come to my house both times was very polite and upfront about the service which I appreciate. Avoid this place at all cost! The rep i spoke with, I think was a younger lady, she had a major attitude and grossly unprofessional when speaking with me. They tried to invoice me for services that were never performed and threatened to send me to collections if I didn't pay. I spoke with another lady at a different time and we cleared up the misunderstanding and she said she would take care of it. I have not heard from them since and I hope to keep it that way as I would never consider or refer anyone to hire them for any services. read more

I called about a gas tankless water heater prior to the thanksgiving holiday. I was told they would come out and take care of it the next day 11/25 by 2:30 pm. I received a call at 2:56 pm today, stating that they did not know how to service that type of heater even though they had stated they would come over. This left our whole family stranded without a heater over the holiday weekend. They could have called us earlier so we could have found someone else to take care of it or offer some other solution, instead they decided to call late and cancel. We have used Alvarez Plumbing for water heater work. Recently we decided to install a RO system with minerals. It is a little more difficult of an install. David came out did the install, we had a small problem, he was back and fixed that too. We ended up having a leak. Diane in the office and the after hours was so helpful. Excellent customer service. Do not use unless you want to be overcharged! I called Alvarez Plumbing to clear a slow-draining sink. I was told over the phone that they would charge $148 to come out and clear the pipe. I advised resident of the 2 hour time window. They arrived later than was expected. That's fine. Things happen. Resident called to let me know plumber left to get supplies but would return. Weird, but ok. A simple routering of drain doesn't usually take extra supplies. I assumed their equipment malfunctioned or broke. Tenant later called and advised me when they left. I received today a bill for $478.74, including a surcharge for fuel ($5), kitchen sink parts (which wasn't worked on), cable fee ($15), and them charging me for 3 hours of work. Again, tenant verified plumber wasn't there for three hours. The invoice included repairs which were not authorized by me nor the tenant. I emailed Alvarez Plumbing telling them the charges were incorrect. Alvarez Plumbing indicated both bathroom sinks were clogged. The house has ONE bathroom. ONE. I emailed them asking them to send a corrected invoice for $148. This far, no response. I work with property managers and owners in the area. When I have a good experience with contractors, I make sure to continue to use them. To overbill for excessive hours and bill for repairs not previously authorized is unethical and dishonest. You've been warned! If I could give negative stars, I would. I wanted to add not only did I get sent an invoice for $478.74, but I received another second invoice for $550 for hydrojetting. Again, I was quoted $148 and billed for a total of $1028.74! read more

They came out when called. This review is for their billing/customer service. The plumbers came out AUGUST 16. Did good work and fast. Great price. WE DIDNT GET OUR BILL UNTIL SATURDAY (SEPTEMBER 25), and the billing department called my cell phone SEPTEMBER 29 AND LEFT A VOICEMAIL "IM CALLING TO COLLECT PAYMENT..." I call back and told them that we JUST got the bill and asked why it took so long. The girl's excuse was "sorry it took so long. We are short staffed and the bills went out late." Like FOREAL?! You just sent the bill and now you're calling me DEMANDING PAYMENT? I have the USPS Informed Delivery notification in my emails, and i see they sent ANOTHER bill. Today is OCTOBER 2, 2021. at the bottom of the invoice it reads: "Past due balances are subject to a $20.00 per month late charge..." It says DUE 10/3/21. Crooks. I bet they do this to ALL of their customers. Send invoices LATE, cutting it CLOSE to the due date, then charge a late fee. You being short staffed is NOT my problem. Don't call me demanding payment acting like we don't pay our bills. Get someone competent to do your billing, or get a better system going. read more

This is the third time my parents have used Alvarez Plumbing to fix the plumbing in our house's bathroom and this time it started to get worse. Sunday we experienced our bathroom toilet getting clogged and yesterday my parents called Alvarez Plumbing to fix our bathroom plumbing problem and what I think is happening is this company uses new plumbers in training to fix plumbing problems. Because the same plumber came both times to fix my family's bathroom problems and only left it half done and now every so often my family's toilet gets clogged. The Good: Responsive. Called & sent a plumber out to the jobsite promptly. The Bad: 1) During the call, I was not informed they charged $115 just to come out. This may not have been an issue IF I was told beforehand. 2) They are not a one stop plumbing shop. I called for service on a rental property that had a broken sewer line & crawl space was poodled in water due to the plumbing issue. After inspecting the property, I was advised I had to hire another company to drain the water out before they could assess the damage & begin work. Recommendation if using this company. Ask tons of questions BEFORE asking them to come out (i.e. How much they charge to come out). Be very detailed when explaining your plumbing needs to determine if it's something they can manage. After paying their fee, I ended up using another one stop shop plumbing company. read more

First of all I was told $100 an hour, nothing extra.I was prepared to pay $200 or so for install. Plumber arrived late then debated that he could do the work for an entire hour before he began. There goes $100! He was to swap out a shower head, handle and spout that I purchased. End of the day the work was completed. Let me say here that he spent a lot of time at his truck and walking in and out. The plumber also took all of my old parts plus the box my new set came in. I thought that was strange. My bill arrives in the mail for $438!? I call for detail and they say he worked for 3.5 hours, charges for materials, charges for TRAVEL TIME! A Salinas plumber charging to come to a Salinas address? Just another way to soak your customers. Or I guess I should say previous customers. Never again. read more

This company sent out a plumber to unclog a toilet. The guy left and came back with another guy. The problem seemed to be solved. 2 days later the toilet was worse it backed up into the shower. Called them back and they wouldn't honor their work. Said it would cost more if they came back. I'm a senior citizen on a fixed income and they had already charged me $465.00.. long story short I had to call another plumber. He fixed it in about 1/2 an hour and only charged me a small fraction of what Alvarez Plumbing charged!! I gave 1 star only because I couldn't go any lower. Never again!! read more

My hot water valve in my master bathroom's shower broke early one morning and was slowly leaking hot water from the spigot. I called Alvarez Plumbing and they were able to get someone over to my place within an hour. To my satisfaction, the part was fixed and replaced very quickly, very professionally. I really would like to say thank you to Juan. He is a great plumber. One way you can tell if someone is really good at there job is by the way they are able to explain technical and complex issues in a manner that is easily understandable. Juan was a good communicator and was able to answer all of my questions and Lord knows I had a lot of them. He replaced a water heater at my home and even explained to me what was possibly the root cause. He was able to not only explain things to me but also showed me some things I could do to conduct better maintenance on my hardware. Val's Plumbing recommend we get our pipes hydro jetted & since Val's doesn't do hydro jetting & I wanted to go with someone local Alvarez was a good choice or so I thought. They didn't do the whole underneath and then found a crack in the pipes below. So now not only do I need to get the pipes replaced but Alvarez refuses to come back and clean out the pipes again. I had to wait for 24 hours for them to return my call and won't come back to fix their mistake. After paying for the hydro jetting, which I did, they wanted me to spend more without fixing the first problem. If I had to do it again, I would NEVER use Alvarez Plumbing for anything!!! read more

Dominic is a man of integrity, reasonable prices, and all the plumbing work he's done for us from replacing water heaters, replacing or repairing bathroom and kitchen plumbing, and clearing the roots from our sewage line has been exceptional. He's installed my oven, microwave, cooktop, dishwasher, and is the best "go to" guy around. I've recommended him to others and they have been more than satisfied with his work as well. We had both our toilets block up. called Alvarez Plumbing on a Saturday. Jose called me back and was at the house in 20 minutes. The line was blocked pretty bad so he called Mike to assist him. They brought out the heavy duty snake machine and busted through the blockage. These guys are true professionals and know their stuff. I've used Alvarez Plumbing for years. On Thursday August 13th (afternoon) I had a sewage backup and Alvarez sent out a plumber. He was here approx. 20 minutes, snaked the line and said it was taken care of. Three days later, August 17th (morning), the sewer line backed up again (same location). I called the office and was told that they only guarantee their work for 24 hours and that they were booked up for the day and a plumber would be sent out after hours (7 pm to 9pm) and it would cost extra money for after hours work. She told me THREE times it would cost more money this time. I will NEVER use this company again nor would I recommend them to family and friends. read more
