I had 4 chimney companies provide estimates and Tom was the only one who found our problem immediately. cracked foundation in the chimney had water leaking into my basement. They worked around Decembers rain and snow and frigid temps to get the repair completed before Christmas. After the snow melted in March we discovered a 1 foot drop in the soil they had fill back into our 8 foot hole. And the membrane had separated. They were very prompt in fixing it to perfection. Utilizes spam calling services from 631-552-4320 to sell chimney cleaning services in clear violation of the 1991 Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) & FTC's do not call list. I hired with this company ONCE back in 2014 for a chimney cleaning, and post-cleaning they recommended additional services that, upon reviewing with a 2nd chimney professional - was not needed. Their sales system was basically providing the offer of a "low cost" chimney cleaning, as a segue for more upsells. Since then, they've CONSTANTLY pestered me year after year with sales calls / offers for chimney cleaning since they are "in my area." I've asked them again and again to REMOVE my number from their list - but they won't listen, so I've reported them now to the FTC since my number is on the DO NOT CALL list. Sorry, but any contractor worth his salt is always busy and doesn't need to drum up business (Hint: I manage 7 doors locally and over 40+ units now / over 100+ at the height of my holdings - every great pro I know is booked weeks / months out). I almost didn't call them!!! I needed to replace my old back porch which was falling apart. So when I saw "Always Affordable Chimney" in Yelp, I thought, "Hmm, don't need a chimney right now". Luckily, I scrolled down, saw their other services and their high Yelp rating, so I gave them a call. Besides my back porch that needed replacement, I was also becoming concerned about a crack in the concrete base of my home's southeast corner that was growing larger over the years. When Tommy and his guys came down to give me a quote for the back porch, I asked him about the crack in the concrete wall. He said he needed to take a closer look. After moving everything away from the wall you could clearly see that the southeast corner of my house was sinking into the ground. So they dug around the outside corner of my house to get an even better look and said that the foundation on that end of the house which was actually an addition had failed, causing the sinking. So guess what? "Always Affordable Chimney" replaces "House Foundations" as well. And they're affordable!!! So my review is that whatever your brick or concrete or masonry needs are, give "Always Affordable Chimney" a call. You won't regret it!!! read more

DISHONEST OR INCOMPETENT! I do not recall ever writing a negative review on yelp but after this companies attempt to swindle us out of $2500 and preying on the fears of my house burning down and our families health; it can only based upon dishonesty or incompetence. I called for a chimney cleaning / consultation because my wood burning stove insert was producing too much smoke and based my selection on the reviews here on yelp. The receptionist was very pleasant and made an appointment with me for the consultation based upon what I had described to her. When the worker showed the next day they tried to sell me on replacing my whole liner (which is less then 2 years old). I was told that since I only have a single layer liner, which is apparently the standard issued liner, it could not be cleaned and they would not put there brushes down this liner because it would be ruined. They showed me a picture of the black crud that had accumulated and warned me that using the fireplace could be dangerous. They quoted me a price to replace the liner that was equivalent to that of my initial wood burning stove unit. I declined their service and called around to others who have been using a fireplace for longer time then I had. At which time I was made aware that they all have a single layer liner and that is completely sufficient. The next company showed me my chimney cap and the amount of build up it had is what created no air flow and that the liner needed to be trimmed 3 inches to promote the air flow and then the single layer liner was brushed. And amazingly it did not break. The fireplace is working as good as new. I will not call this company again read more

I was overdue for getting my chimney cleaned. Google referred me to Always Affordable Chimney, and after researching I called them up. Despite it already being December, John came to inspect a couple of days later and told me we needed a liner for the chimney furnace and that it was a priority safety-wise, despite needing a creosote cleaning in the fireplace. John showed me the photos and explained it all as well as showed me inside the furnace flue. They came to do the work a couple of days after I called to confirm. The crew, led by John, was professional and thorough, answering any questions we had. They worked with me for making payment arrangements and threw in the creosote cleaning at no charge. I just bought a home in Amityville and although the homeowner was great with passing on to me her record keeping, there was nothing about the chimney. As the fall will be rolling in shortly my furnace and chimney is on the top of my mind so I called Always Affordable Chimney. Their customer service was great, they set me up with an appointment for someone to come out and give me an estimate within a few days of my call. Yesterday they came right on time, there were 2 technicians, one went on the roof to inspect the chimney and the other went into the basement to check things from the bottom. The roof guy didn't speak much, but the 2 technician was really great. I was with him the whole time and his knowledge and expertise were top-notch! He explained everything to me, showed me what I was dealing with, took pictures for me to show my husband, never any pressure, and all for free. I explained I needed to discuss everything with my husband and he was absolutely in agreement with that. He showed me a company video to describe my situation and how the solution would prevent anything further damage to my chimney. He gave me a reasonable estimate in writing and a brochure, told me all work was guaranteed for the life of the chimney, and really made me feel like going with them was the right decision. We needed a chimney company fast one random Saturday morning since our heating person told us that our chimney liner might be frayed and causing the boiler to smoke. We chose this company on a whim and so happy that we did. I was worried because we needed someone that day so we could get heat in the house. Tommy knows his stuff! Took one look at my chimney and knew why it was leaking. Contractor was chasing the leak for weeks literally. Tommy also spent an hour of his own time showing me the problem. He wouldn't put in my liner that day because it would have covered a problem not fixed it. He could have dropped a liner and ran but he didn't. after the problem was addressed he came back again and completed the job. Tommy is a good guy. We inherited a hazardous mess when when we bought our home a couple of years ago - 120 year old brick chimney with a huge hole in the base of the stack, crumbling bricks, mortar completely gone in places, fireplace floor missing, liner rusted through. Several masons looked at it and told us to tear it down, so we decided to call chimney specialists. We got three bids, all of which were actually about the same price, but ONLY Al and his crew from Always Affordable got up on the roof to fully inspect the chimney before quoting the job (the others were just guessing at the condition of the liner/interior). They had the best plan for safely repairing the stack and answered all of my questions, and Michelle in the office was great about scheduling and keeping everything organized. Al and his crew were super prompt, very efficient and INCREDIBLY neat. They finished a huge job in less than two days and left my home and basement MUCH cleaner than they found it - they even vacuumed the basement stairs! The fireplace looks great and the stack is now solid as a rock. They even did a few extra tasks while they were on the roof, including adding a cap to our sewer vents and tarring a couple of problem spots, no charge. Really awesome company all the way around. Read many positive reviews and called AAC for the $89 cleaning special. Tommy came during the estimated window and clearly showed me that my new house's fireplace already was spotless and perfectly clean. He told his guys to pack it up and said no charge. We did find that during the boiler flu inspection the 2nd chimney was beyond cleaning and it needed to be sleeved and replaced. 2 weeks later with 2 trucks and 6 workers his team completed the work in less than 90 minutes. I had me Chimney install about 4 years a go by a other company, This company contacted me this year and came in to my house for a cleaning, They where so nice they showed me where the last company did not install the correct liner. They where the for over a hour. Then they would not even charge me for the call. They Tolded me to call the first company back to fix it and Showed me what was wrong and what to say to then. I have no idea what to do with a chimney--I'm a Brooklynite! So I needed a team to come, clean my new home's chimney and tell me what to do. Unfortunately Tommy and his crew found that one my boiler chimney was in hazardous shape and needed a new liner, among other issues. They took their time to take pictures, showing me exactly what the issues were, and then itemized the costs (since the consult was free). I never felt hustled and in fact, his assessment coincided exactly with what my own inspector had to told me before we purchased the house. He was able to make the repair for a reasonable (not cheap, but nothing when it comes to homes is ever cheap, and I think the rate was as good as it was going to get!) within 2 hours (guaranteed for the life of the house), and worked out a payment plan that was fair and worked with my budget. I have never wrote a review before and felt that this time I should. I called Always Affordable Chimney Inc. in Massapequa and made an appointment on 10/12 to have my chimney cleaned. They never showed up to the appointment and I called to find out what happened they said they was an emergency and couldn't come. They were apologetic and said they would reschedule the appointment for the following weekend 10/19 at 8 am. I was ok with that, things happen. Come 10/19 at 8 am they didn't show up. I called at 8:30 am to find out if they will be coming, I told the woman on the phone who I was and asked if they were coming. She apologize and said yes they are on their way. Now it's 9:30 am and still no show. I called again and they said I am so sorry I confused you with someone else. They aren't coming to you today because of an emergency. What?? You gave me that excuse last time and this morning you said they were on their way. What kind of customer service is this.?! I waited 2 weeks for my chimney to be cleaned and was understandable two times and this is what you do. I will never recommend this company.
