I loved these crabs! First they were fresh-- and I mean not overly wet as if you just thawed out some frozen crabs. Secondly, it was delicious! Like the crab meat taste good beyond the seasoning they put on the outside. It was a new spot but won't be the last time we stop by. Pro Tip: You can order ahead of time! I'm a picky girl when it comes to my crabs. The first time I came here I was a little put off that they didn't offer butter or vinegar with the crabs as this is a requirement for me to enjoy my crabs! As a matter of fact the person behind the counter told me "we don't carry it because you don't need it" and I thought to myself...he has no idea what he's talking about. To start these are the best crabs I've had in a long time, usually in every dozen I get at other places there's always at least one crab that's bad, not a single one with always best. The crabs are good. The guy who answered the phone for my most recent order is rude. Me: "May I order a bushel of crabs for Sunday?" Rude guy: "No!" (5-10 seconds of silence) Me: "May I ask why?" They always have the best crabs. The people working here are always friendly and they have the best crabs around. Their prices are usually cheaper then the competition and the crabs are always better. If you ask how the crabs are and if they are heavy they will always give honest answers. Appearances were so deceiving in this case! I ordered the 3 dozen for $75 special. And they were so delicious! The crabs had good size to them and they were full. Spices were on point, a little heavy but I kind of like that. To be honest, I was really concerned about buying crabs here. There were no yelp reviews about them, they are only open during the busy season, and they're in a super shady strip mall. Turns out they reason they are only in business during the busy season is because they don't ship their crabs in from out of state. When you buy at Always Best, you get REAL Maryland Crabs. We bought a dozen steamed crabs for the 4th of July because my bf loves crabs. After reading the previous reviews (which was awesome) we decided to give them a try. The price was reasonable for medium males. The mediums seemed heavy and well seasoned. As advertise the crabs are local and caught daily. I definitely happy we found this gem of a place. read more

This place is amazing. The owner is a crabber and works directly with a few others. The reason they are only open for several hours each weekday and more on the weekend is that he is out crabbing at 5:30 AM. His philosophy is to only have heavy, full crabs because he doesn't want any customers to complain and give him a bad name as he would do if he felt he was being cheated. Our daughter lives in nearby Glen Burnie and discovered this place. She and her husband have never had a bad crab from there and now neither have we. Picked up a dozen #1 males and then picked up our son from Los Angeles at BWI. He's a big Maryland crab fan. Dinner was their crabs cooked when we arrived and their last pound of spiced shrimp. It was outstanding as was every crab. Great place. Not much from the outside but well worth the stop. By the way, his crab spices are way more flavorful than Old Bay. This is by far my favorite place for take out crabs. They are local watermen who catch what they sell everyday. They do not not ship in crabs from out of the area and you will never get crabs that were cooked the day before and placed in the fridge overnight, then sold as fresh steamed crabs like some of the other places. This is the only place where I have NEVER gotten a "paper weight" crab! These guys take a lot of pride in their crabbing and you will not go wrong with them. This past weekend I got a 1/2 bushel for $70 and they were awesome. Don't forget to leave a tip, it goes to the owners son, who does works there setting up the bags that they put your crabs in. OMG, these are awesome! Just want to thank Heather for her review or I would never have gone there, didn't even knew they existed! I was born and raised in Baltimore and am VERY PICKY about my steamed crabs. My father and mother had 2 crab "feasts" per month every summer, one for the friends, one for the reatives. In other words, I was born and raised to eat steamed crabs! After I moved out of home and got married, hubby and I moved to the Washington DC area. In other words-lousy crabs! We made the trek to Dundalk Maryland to "Jimmys Seafood Restaurant" for our steamed crabs. Went there for years. They were just awesome. Then the owner Jimmy passed away and the restaurant went downhill fast. We tried other restaurants here and there, just not as good as Jimmys. Then we found Cantlers. The problem with them is they don't do carryout and as I am in that area frequently visiting my father in a nursing home, I wanted someplace I could pick them up and take them home to enjoy with hubby. I tried Fifers, they were exorbitantly expensive. And for the cost they were not worth it. Too many times they were lightweight and/or undersized. And they flew them in from Texas and Louisiana. For $120 a dozen jumbos, they should have used the lightweight/undersize crabs for their other crab recipes like the crab cakes. Or they should have given a good discount for those batches. I said enough is enough. Went here to Yelp, saw reviews for "the Point" No, they do not do carryout. Then read the lone review for Always Best. They will steam your order right before you pick up. And they only make Maryland crabs. Ordered a dozen jumbos. What can I say, I am a customer for life!! They were heavy, big, meaty and delicious. Hubby and I leave the crabs in the original bag while eating and quickly fold the bag shut the bag after grabbing each one. Each one was the same heavy meaty deliciously seasoned crab. No feeling around for a heavy one, no sirree. No more! Hubby was very happy too. This place is a winner! read more

Placed a ToGo order for a dozen large male crabs from Always Beat Crabs (ABC) today. These crabs were huge, fresh, meaty, and perfectly cooked with spices and seasoning; downright delicious. They literally could not have tasted better even if I had spent half of the day sitting on the dock to catch them myself. If you are looking to have one last party before summer ends, I highly recommend you skip the BBQ and instead you spoil you family and friends by calling ABC; order their large male crabs and I promise your party will be a huge success, and you'll be the hero who brought those insanely tasty king size Maryland Blue Crabs! read more
