They did a great job on our tree removal, only took several hours and as where other tree removal companies had parking blocking fees that would have added an additional $400 to the cost, they did what was needed to avoid additional fees, thanks you guys did a great job! Jim's crew were fabulous. Great communication & execution. The tree was a western red cedar & I love her but she needed a trim up in a bad way. They were totally able to transform the canopy. I cannot say enough in praise of this crew! Jim provided us with very timely responses for estimates, ideas about cost savings, and great performance with his team! Their price was the best from the other estimates we received, but the quality of work was not in the least compromised. We needed two very large evergreen trees removed due to being a danger of falling on the house and the public right-of-way. We had a very challenging project as both trees were surrounded by multiple power lines, partly growing into a chain link fence, and jeopardizing a tall dry laid stone wall. Hedgehog Tree Care always showed up right on time, took many precautions to protect the neighbors property and ours, cleaned up the work beautifully and provided all services with professional integrity. I am a TOTAL, I mean TOTAL tree hugger.. so this was hard for me to call these folks.. . but I had not had the trees trimmed since I moved here. Neighbors were polite but I saw all the leaves in their yards and my trees were taking advantage of their backyard as well with their branches just reaching over. At any rate, I have a couple of 5 trees growing in my humble space. I asked for Hedgehog tree care to take a look, and clear out any scary branches, make sure no disease is happening and just give me an idea as to the general space my trees are in. He did and his quote was very reasonable as well as very assuring that he would not harm a leaf.. I, however, was not there for the massacre as I would have been inappropriate I'm sure. I can barely trim my trees for fear they feel it in their limbs.. ridiculous? Well that's your opinion. I came home when it was over and it was as if it never happened. As it turns out, he kept his word and was very gentle with my trees.. he too appeared to also be a tree hugger type, literally of course as well. He had to do some climbing and cutting etc. He also cleaned it all up so I did not see how much trimming/cutting/amputeeing he did. I looked up in to my trees and really had to examine any (damage) as it were. Conservative yet effective. And very knowledgeable and certified. read more

Not only did they bid the job lower than some competitors, but they were easy to communicate and schedule with, and as an added bonus they left my driveway and patio cleaner than when they started! Super expensive tree service. Go with another one that got great reviews here on Yelp.. don't waste your money as we did! We had another bid that was half their price for the same work and we forgot to cancel with them. When I called to pay them and asked if they could come even slightly lower on their charge since they were 2x the other one - Joy one of the owners went off about how I think I'm entitled and why should she have to bother and that they were a family-owned business, and went off on a rant and wouldn't listen. As a customer who has always paid her bills, I think it's fair for us to ask a business to consider lowering the payment especially given that Corona Virus is hurting us all with our jobs and savings. After the rant, she offered a super minuscule discount if I paid the whole huge amount at once. read more

Go with another tree service, they are the worst. Even though they were overpriced, agreed because they were going to remove and / or chip limbs and other trimmings leaving the bark. They did neither. Also the crew that did the actual work said that we should reach out to the owner since it was a lot less work then they originally quoted. We did, he didn't care. read more

While others may have had good experiences, it's not worth using the company since you end up having to deal with Joy, the wife. She badgered us for payment in a rude and unprofessional manner. Then, after pretending not to have received our check by mail, she also refused to accept payment by wire transfer saying that it was a "security issue". This is so wrong, normal businesses accept wire transfers all the time; it's easier and safer than almost every other method. It seems her real motive was to be petty and get us to small claims court, adding an outrageous amount of interest and penalty to her claim. I paid it, just to stop dealing with her lack of integrity. read more

Full disclosure, Jim is the cousin of one of my best friends, so I had a personal recommendation. Both Jim and Joy were a joy! to deal with. They responded personally, professionally, quickly, and thoroughly when a huge tree branch fell on my roof. I was not there when they came by, and when I returned the branch was gone, the tree was saved, and everything in the area was immaculate. HIGHLY recommend. read more

My neighbor hired these guys to trim some trees. They had to access my yard. They left a big mess..most likely because I wasn't their paying client. I had to buy 6 bags of bark chips to replace those along the path to my backyard that they blew away with their leaf blower. Several of my outdoor ground lights were pulled out and my raised garden beds on the street side of my house (not where the tree was but where they parked their truck) had been trampled. My artichokes were broken at the based and leaning in the street and the lettuce starts my kids had just planted were crushed. The grass along the sidewalk leading down to my neighbor's house was full of bark chips that hadn't been cleaned up. These guys were nice to talk to but leaving things they way they found them doesn't seem a priority. read more

We have used Hedgehog twice now. They've trimmed our Laurel hedges, Apple and fig trees. Jim and his employees are very professional, responsive, and friendly. We were very pleased with their work and will continue to use them in the future. read more

We used them a year ago to take down an enormous diseased (and dying) Big Leaf maple, as well as three leaning alder trees underneath it. They ground out the stumps for us too. They were professional all around and completely lived up to my generally ridiculous expectations. My understanding is that their client base is largely word-of-mouth referral. Which is how I heard of them, a friend recommended. I would definitely, definitely use them again. read more

Unresponsive to calls. High prices. Mediocre to poor quality work requiring a re-do. Not recommended.

They've done some work for us in the past and this time took down 2 unsafe trees on neighbor's property and a limb on one of our trees. Jim also walked the property to see if other trees needed work. We watched the crew off and on throughout the day. Everyone was in motion nearly all the time. No slackers in the group. Plus clean up was thorough. Yeah it was noisy but I've yet to see an effective muffler on a chain saw. read more

Jim Myers, the company owner, and his three tree climbers, two of which are certified arborists, performed some major tree removal/trimming for us yesterday. Their performance exceeded our expectations, which were high based on recommendations from others. Jim carefully documented the work to be performed in his proposal, which I copied into the HOA application, which was declared the best application the Architectural Review Committee had ever received. When they arrived, Jim reviewed the scope of work to be completed in detail. All of the team was appropriately dressed and had and used safety gear during the work. Jim worked with the team except for the final clean up process. All of the work was performed as agreed and the site was left completely cleaned up. All in all, a delightful experience with a very professional and highly skilled group of arborists. read more
