I made a reservation for the evening, but the setting sun was hot. The meal was luxurious.
We had seen mixed reviews on Facebook groups and frankly- no idea why because 'Ama 'Ama was one of the best dinners we had on our vacation! Not only was the food great but the service was incredible. We did the suggested wine pairings with our meals, but our server could tell that we were enjoying it so much that he brought out his own recommendations which in my opinion often were even better then the pre-selected pairings. This type of service is exactly the "above and beyond" that makes this a must repeat when we return. On the resort, this venue has some of the best views of sunset and I highly recommend! This is definitely not the type of restaurant for little ones who won't be able to sit still as it is on the classy side for the resort
Food: good. Service: good. Ambiance: amazing ocean view! Amazing!!! Would I go back? No! It was way too expensive. Pasta for caviar prices! Three stars for the price of what you could get as an experience and meal in a comparable restaurant.
As I passed by Ama Ama, I was immediately drawn to the wonderful atmosphere and asked the friendly hostess if she could arrange a table with the best view. To my delight, she enthusiastically secured a truly perfect table for me. The service was warm, attentive, and professional, and the food was the best I had on my entire trip,every dish was clearly prepared with care and was full of flavor. I will definitely return next time I visit Ali'inui. Highly recommended!
This is a really good fine dining experience at Aulani, and the best dinner in the entire resort. They were very accommodating with us having a toddler. 4 course tasting menu is delicious- so come hungry! At $175/person it doesn't even feel overpriced because the quality of ingredients and service is excellent.
We went to Ama Ama after mass (St. Jude's) for Christmas Eve dinner. What a delight. I got the wine pairing with my 4 course meal. Taylor was an excellent waiter. I really loved the whole experience. We had a beautiful view of the ocean with the crescent moon looking down at us! The atmosphere was tranquil and very relaxing. I'd recommend they add more top shelf tequila options but other than that it was a delicious meal and wonderful experience. I like how they added the complimentary bread to nibble on in between courses. This is definitely a must do for a couple or family staying at Aulani. Quality is top notch. I'd recommend adding more veggies to the entrees for a more balanced meal.
Food was good, but nothing overly fantastic. Atmosphere is gorgeous. It was a long dinner, but the service was good. The standout dishes were the crudo and the chocolate dessert. The cocktails were just okay. I think if I go back to Aulani again, I would skip this dinner but it was worth it to experience once.
Such an incredible experience! We made a reservation right before sunset so that we could enjoy the sunset view from our table, and it was absolutely beautiful! The cast members were all very nice from when we checked in throughout our meal. Getting seated was smooth and the restaurant was mostly empty when we initially arrived. We were seated at a table with a very nice view of the ocean! The dining experience is a 4-course prix fixe meal. For my dishes, I chose the smoked salmon pate, ahi tuna, scallops, and citrus bar. We had an amuse bouche which was a hamachi sashimi which was very flavorful! The smoked salmon pate was also very delicious and had a nice flavor to it. It was a touch on the salty side but it came with some taro chips that went with it really nicely. We then received two different slices of bread and a cracker. I forget exactly what they were but the honey bread was so good! I really enjoyed it but it was so much bread that I couldn't finish it unfortunately. I had the ahi next, which reminded me of an ahi poke. The pieces were cut into small cubes and each piece was well marinated, and they were delicious! There were also some pieces of uni as well which I really enjoy! My partner had the kurobuta pork and this was also so good! The pork was so flavorful and the texture was so nice and tender. This dish surprised us both with just how good it was! For my main course, I had the scallops which came with three scallops, cauliflower prepared 3 ways, and some pork. Everything on this dish was very delicious, and the scallops were the perfect texture! So good! My dessert was the citrus bar and it was so good and was a really nice tart dessert. It was a very nice way to close out from a very rich meal. The passion fruit was delicious and I loved the calamansi as well. And the presentation was so beautiful! Our server was so kind and helped make the whole dinner experience very memorable!
Was very surprised by this place. The service was stellar. Very beautiful setting as we were seated with a view of the ocean. The drinks are stiff. All the food was delicious, the kids cleaned their plates. The kids grilled cheese and kids steak were huge hits. Expect resort prices. But wow what a surprisingly pleasant experience.
We've been DVC for over ten years and always have dinner here when at the hotel. The menu format has been changing ever since our first visit years ago. The venue is stunning and the service is fantastic, but what they are charging now for a prix fixe menu is excessive. Especially for pre-teens. We had dinner next door at Mina's the other night and while that was pricy as well it was still 40% less than what we paid for dinner at Ama Ama last night. Also with all the recent rains the amount of gnats was unreal. My wife loves this restaurant but at the current price point I don't think I'll return unless they move to an à la carte format.
If you've ever wondered what it feels like to dine inside a live episode of National Geographic: Termite Edition, look no further than Ama Ama. Imagine sitting down at a "fine dining" table, only to realize you're sharing your meal with a full-on termite swarm--fluttering around your head, crawling across your menu, and crash-landing on your forks. Nothing says "aloha" quite like brushing bugs out of your wine glass. The ambiance? Well, if you enjoy screaming children echoing across every surface like a live daycare performance, you're in luck. Forget romantic oceanfront dining--this is more like eating in a Chuck E. Cheese with a $130 tasting menu. But wait, the experience starts before you even get to your table. To reach the restaurant, you must trek through the pool area, which reeks of chlorine and eau de toddler pee. It's the olfactory equivalent of a public restroom at summer camp. By the time you arrive at the table, you're already craving a shower. The food? Slightly above mediocre. Think: plated pretty enough for Instagram, but tasting like something a mid-tier country club might serve at a wedding buffet. Not offensive, but not even close to worth the hype, price, or the live-insect entertainment package. To be fair, the server and assistant were absolute gems--kind, warm, and patient saints who deserve hazard pay for working in a dining room that doubles as a termite mating ground. They were the only bright spot in an otherwise abysmal evening. And here's the kicker: Disney's quality hasn't been Disney-quality in well over a decade--it's been a full-on dumpster fire. The only reason we even gave Ama Ama a shot is because on that side of Oahu the dining options are few and far between.
'AMA'AMA was everything I hoped it would be and more. We were lucky enough to snag a reservation for Thanksgiving without being resort guests for 5:30. We arrived a little early with the hopes of being set before the sun went down, and they were so kind at the front desk. We got seated just after 5:15 at the perfect table. The service was amazing from the very start and never went down. With two people handling our table, we never wanted for anything. Waters were always refilled in a timely manner and dirty dishes removed quickly and quietly. The restaurant faces directly at the ocean, and if you time it correctly, you can watch the sun set which is absolutely stunning! During the winter, that means getting one of the first dinner reservations of the night. We watched the sun go down while listening to live music eating amazing food. With was perfection. For food, I got the special thanksgiving meal, and my son ordered off the regular menu. I love that you had the option for both. First came the bread service, and it was delicious! My meal included things like squash soup, seasonal salad, roast turkey, herb stuffing with cranberry sauce and pumpkin cheesecake at the end. My son's included venison tartare, octopus risotto, steak and the most amazing potatoes with a chocolate dessert at the end. We sat for almost two hours as courses came out, sharing bites of each others food. The mocktails we got were also great. I got the cranberry bliss and he got one with orange juice. The night ended with a stroll down the beach and a little walk around the resort. It was an experience I will remember for always and we can't wait to go back.
Absolutely stunning ocean-side sunset views and delicious food! It's a prix fixe 4-course meal including a starter, appetizer, entree, and dessert. There's also free bread and a small opening dish of hamachi sashimi that was really good. My husband and I ordered the ahi tuna, island crudo, and octopus over risotto as our appetizers (paid an extra $20 for an additional appetizer) and the scallop and lobster as our entrees. All the food was delicious with the seafood incredibly fresh and plump. I got the chocolate dessert and my husband got the pistachio with flan, which were also both great and creative dishes. Service was excellent and our waitress was very knowledgeable and patient with explaining the menu. This was the best meal we had on Disney Aulani property and definitely recommend trying to book a reservation around 5 or 5:30 pm!

I loved this place so so much. It was so magical and cute. The made the rice in a shape of Mickey Mouse. My daughter loved it as well. she tried something new and the never happens. She tried the spam musubi . It was so worth the price. The service at ama ama was so good my daughter said felt like she was a princess. We loved this place so if you go to the Aulani Disney resort go to ama ama. I do wish they had a few more options on the menu. Had a beautiful view. read more

3 people+two alcoholic drinks=$550+. We did not think it was worth it. We have had prefix meals many times in San Francisco and compared I can truly say this meal was a disappointment. The quality of food was fine, it was the dishes left us with question marks. Strange mixes of food. Not a fan. We have been coming to AMA AMA for over 8 years, we have not been since Covid. I wish they would make this restaurant a normal family restaurant, not some outrageously priced so-so restaurant. AMA ama used to service breakfast which was fantastic. Not any more. In fact I have to say, Aulani's restaurant selection is not up to par. You are stuck on property to eat unless you walk across the street to a shopping center. The only options on property are: off the hook which is casual bar food, ama ama prefixed dinner, ulu cafe is a grab and go with limited hot food and Makahiki which used to be the best breakfast and dinner buffet, Makahiki is no longer a buffet, but now a prefix dining establishment. Foodies Beware... looks good, smells good, tastes inedible. Great service and so much promise but food temperatures seemed unsafe and flavors were so unbalanced it was inedible at times. For the price, it should have been perfect. I have never met a lobster I couldn't eat but this time I took a few bites and it was so salty and nasty I had to stop. The only dish that was even partially edible was the venison tartare. That was a 7.5/10. Trust me... skip Ama Ama. read more
The last time we ate here was for a breakfast. Now they are fine dining, open for dinner by reservation. No dress code so casual is accepted. Everything now is 4-course and fixed price. It was $125 for adults and 55 for the kiddos. The food was excellent. I had the duck - it was not greasy and extremely tender. Pork belly appetizers was sweet and delicious. The Mrs had the Ahi Appetizer tender and tasteful. For her entree it was Rib Eye. Tender, cooked exactly as ordered. Dessert was easy to pick - Chocolate Mousse & Coconut Flan both choices were an excellent way to finish the meal. When I saw the portion size I was making plans to eat another meal someplace else. Surprisingly I left the table and wasn't hungry anymore. Our service was excellent and a team effort. Our table gave us a great view of a beautiful sunset. Be prepared this dining experience is expensive, we left a tip that rivaled what we normally spend for a dining out. It was a treat to celebrate here. read more
My wife took me for my birthday celebration with our 3 year old baby. It is pre-fixed, 4 course menu restaurant. The food was ok and small portions. Nonetheless, this restaurant has beautiful view for sunset and the service was amazing!!!!! They are very accommodating and very understanding of the nature of a 3 year old :) read more
I'm not one to venture to the West side of the island for food as I'm very conservative on gas, but I do love a long drive sans traffic. We have friends who live on that side and they always meet us in town for get togethers, so it was time for us to go their way! 'Ama'ama was the choice. We came here for breakfast. This restaurant is located within the Disney Aulani Resort in Ko Olina. There's free self parking in the garage, as well as 2.5 hours of validated valet parking. The garage had a sign that wrote, "parking for registered guests only," but that's not true! I didn't know and reluctantly valet parked. This restaurant is quite a ways from the lobby. You walk down the left hallway till you see stairs going down to the Makahiki restaurant. From there, walk outside and walk to the left, along the pool, all the way till the end where you'll see the sign for the restaurant. This is an open air restaurant that's supposed to feel like "restored fishing hut." The word 'ama'ama translate to a type of mullet in Hawaiian. You don't really notice much of the fishing hut decor unless you look up at the ceiling. You're more enamored by the view of the ocean and greenery. The breakfast menu is pretty limited and simple. You have the basics such as pancakes, eggs benedict, two eggs any style, loco moco, and etc. For some reason, the menu only shows the featured drinks (i.e. most expensive drinks), but they do have regular coffee, juice, and other drinks. Just ask for the price if you need. The prices are pretty expensive, but hey, you're at a Disney resort! I decided on the Traditional Loco Moco Breakfast subbing rice for Aulani Potatoes. The hamburger patty is homemade, and you can really taste that it is homemade because it doesn't taste and feel like a hamburger! The patty really tasted like meatloaf or Salsbury steak because it didn't taste or ate meaty and beefy, and the beef was minced up rather than grounded. Additionally, it felt like there were a lot of fillers in the patty as well with more hints of sour and herbaceousness, and possibly with breadcrumbs as well. The eggs were prepared well, nice and over easy and runny. The potatoes were decent, but a little light for me. The gravy was on the light side as well, and very one note. I wasn't that impressed with this interpretation of a "traditional" loco moco. Avocado is a lot cheaper now!! Yet all the restaurants treat avocado as some super expensive ingredient, and restaurants almost never reduces a price when certain ingredients go down in price unless they use "market price." I'll never understand why Avocado Toast is one of the more expensive item on many menus around the island. At $23, I can buy 20 avocados and a nice piece of bread. Anyway, the Avocado toast was good and the charred tomato added a nice sourness, but not any char taste. The bread was decent and toasted to a crisp. Coffee was good! However, I wished our server was more readily available to refill it and get more creamer. Other than that, he was very friendly, courteous, and professional. Definitely one of the better servers I've experienced. Overall, the food was so-so, but the views, service, and experience were very nice. Nothing really blew me away or wowed me. Would I make the drive to dine here again? Eh, it's okay. read more

Ama Ama is located at the Aulani Disney Resort. I came here for lunch for my cousin's birthday. It's an open style restaurant with lots of seating and because it's located right next to one of the lagoons at Koolina, it offers a great view of the Pacific Ocean and the horizon. I can only imagine what sunset dinners are like here. Will definitely have to come back. We had reservations made and were seated right away when that time came. The hostess and our server was very friendly and accommodating. Our server was very knowledgable of the menu and because it was all of our first times here, we had lots of questions about the menu. He also brought out a separate vegan and gluten free menu for one of my cousin. I ended up ordering the lobster roll as well as two others in our party. I had to look up what popular dishes were served here on Yelp and this was one of them. Other dishes ordered was their catch of the day, which was mahi mahi, a melting pot poke bowl and a vegan pasta dish. The lobster roll was huge! They definitely packed on the lobster because I literally couldn't close the roll to where it'll fit in my mouth. I almost had to eat it as you would eat toast. It basically was an open face lobster roll. The flavoring was on point. The sweetness of the lobster, the saltiness of the bacon and the creaminess of the avocado was a perfect combination. For dessert, I ordered the Kokoleleka Chocolate Entremet, which is basically chocolate mousse with Hawaiian Vanilla Chantilly on a Macadamia Nut Feulltine Crunch crust. It was very decadent and creamy. I was also able to try the Kona Coffee Toffee Cheesecake. I honestly never tried a coffee infused cheesecake until today. Such a perfect pairing. They also brought out an ice cream sundae and a Mickey Mouse shaped cake for the birthday girl. All in all, this place is a great place to have a great solid meal. It can be pricey as it is located on a resort, but definitely recommend trying this place out. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; each with different menus. Get the Pork belly. Need I say more? Just kidding, but the pork belly was like eating butter in the best possible way. AMA AMA was absolutely fantastic. The dining experience was wonderful, service was good and the views at sunset are hard to beat. The food itself was an experience, and the servers made sure to tell you how to enjoy the dish. I was a bit nervous because the portions looked small, but I was stuffed by the end of the 4 courses. Like, beyond! It was all so delicious it's hard to comment on each item since they all had complex flavor profiles, but the stand out items we're the pork belly, the smoked fish, the chowder, the seafood pasta, and the fruit bar dessert. I don't remember the exact names of these items on the menu, but I would go back easily to get more. I would legit drink this chowder like it's water. The flavors were just.... Chefs kiss! Do not bring small kids to this restaurant. I made reservations for 5:30 but that still wasn't early enough to get a table right at the edge with an unobstructed view of the sunset. Food was very okay for the price. I had the local catch. Husband had the rib eye. It was good but definitely not $125 per person good. The cocktails were the best part of the dinner. When dessert came we asked for coffee. We were brought one thing of drip style Kona coffee but charged $16 each. $32 total for less than 10 ounces mediocre coffee per person. And finally, do not come here with children. $55 fixed pricing for a "3 course dinner" for kids over the age of 3. I ordered chicken as the main entree for my daughter. What I got looked like chicken that was thrown on a pan with NO seasoning. NO sauce. It was so bland! The options for kids are so mediocre and not special at all for that price. Plus the over all experience takes at least 2 hours so unless you have really patient and well behaved children, the experience at that price point is going to make you inevitably frustrated. I'm glad I tried it so I know in the future that it's not worth the hype, but it's still upsetting that for $500 total for a family of four the overall experience was just.... Blah...... felt like a normal chaotic dinner and I would've much rather spent that money elsewhere. read more

We've been coming to Aulani for over 10 years and this is our 6th dinner at AMA AMA. While the restaurant appearance changed slightly with its reopening last year the biggest change is the four course prix-fixe menu. They also offer a wine pairing. We had the Kabocha Squash soup, Pork Belly, Scallops and the coconut Flan. Each course was outstanding. They still offer the freshly baked bread with lightly salted butter. So good! Of course the view is spectacular. The service, excellent, looking to address Avery detail of our experience. read more
AMA AMA is the fine dining experience at Disney Aulani-- be aware when you go here it's $150 per person and $55 per child-- as of July 2023. This was one of the most memorable and amazing meals I've had quite some time. The combination with starting the vacation and having a fine dining experience was a great way to kick off a vacation. I had the NY strip with soufflé sweet potatoes-- very delicious, with a chocolate mousse ending. My son had this deep fried Mac and cheese that he wished we could make at home. It was my other sons birthday so it made for a very special occasion. If you're looking a for memorable experience with your family, highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Yelp reviewers gave this place 3.5 stars but it was definitely one of the best Disney restaurants we have ever been to. Close to Tiffin quality in our opinion. For drinks I got the lilikoi-lada (tastes like juice so be careful the alcohol sneaks up on you). I wanted the green something but my husband wanted a mango mojito. Maybe next time. We had the braised clams to start and those were a little salty but definitely yummy. Then the truffle Mac & cheese... Delicious! I got the scallops with the Mac nut brown sauce and that was amazing too. I kinda wish I got the mahi mahi fish of the day too but that was too much food so gonna have to wait another day. My husband enjoyed his lamb and said it was a bigger portion than he normally gets... But then again it was $59 I couldn't eat much of it because he likes it more rare and I prefer mine medium. We got lucky and got there before the dinner rush so we got seated right in front of the water. Gorgeous view . For DVC members: discount only available for lunch. For dinner, they have us this specially made DVC pastry. read more
Pricey dinner, but an amazing view if you get the right table. I asked to be seated with a view, and in classic Disney style, I was accommodated with smiling faces. The view is better than the food, there were definitely some hits and misses. The poke wasn't that great, but we liked the crab cakes. The scallops and the fish were both ok, but not great, but the lobster tail was pretty darn good. We really liked the creamed corn, and the rice was decent. On the bright side again, even though the options on the Aulani property are limited, it's a pretty good meal and an even better environment and view. read more
I FINALLY found a fancy & delicious fine dining experience by Disney! I've came to this restaurant in the past and it was standard menu items for a sit down restaurant. BUT their revamp on the menu is Phenomenal & so unlike any other restaurant around the area! It's now priced as prefixed & coursed with a flaire of fancy. Each category has different menu options to choose from. Each dish being sooooo yummy and creative. This restaurant is worth actually driving out to this side of the island for! The wine tasting menu is good- as a fine dining connoisseur I wouldn't say it's phenomenal. BUT what is it is ACCESSIBLE to people & families that may not have ever been to a fine dining restaurant or could afford the wine paring. $55 for the wine paring from beginning to dessert is an amazing deal. So I was very pleased with the sommelier's choice on making so many custom wine pairings for such an affordable ticket price. We came on multiple occasions during on trip because it was so fun trying all the menu options. Dan & Eddie were wonderful and attentive servers, as well as Britney! read more

I've attached a picture of the sunset view. That is the only thing worthwhile here. I recommend just viewing that from the beach and eating elsewhere. The food is bland. The service is poor. This is the most disappointing dining experience that we have had at a Disney property. read more

We had 2 adults, 1 child and a toddler that slept the whole dinner. The staff was kind to help us make shift a little napping area for our toddler and we were able to order a la carte for her, in case she woke up at the end of dinner. The pre-fixed meal was so much food. We were full before our entree came out. Our servers were great. There was musicians playing right outside the restaurant with the ocean view (but it was dark out so we couldn't see the ocean). Everything was delicious. read more
YES! Ok, so, I wasn't sold based on a lunch, but the dinner was quite nice. The truffle Mac was good, strip steak was great rare and eating off everybody's plate - the food was good. Resort prices make it hard to walk away happy but they treated our daughter to a mickey cake thing and who would have thought that bribery could work so well? It does. Sunset views were killer. Service is solid. Now if you need me, I'll be in the kitchen washing dishes for the next 3 months to pay for that meal... read more

Such a great sunset 4-course dinner! The whole family enjoyed the live music and comfortable venue. Adults loved the wine pairings with all 4 courses and all of us enjoyed our food, best restaurant at the resort. Servers and hostess were very nice. Be sure to make reservations exactly 60 days out as it books up fast! Also understand this is exclusively a relaxed, coursed meal with no a la carte options. read more

We didn't stay in Aulani but we wanted to try 'Ama 'Ama. We had a reservation at 2:15. And we got there fifteen minutes early. They had our table ready. Our server was nice and friendly. We had a big group adults and children. The service was exceptionally good. She took care of everyone's need. I ordered their lobster roll. It was good with sweet potato fries. The portion was perfect. My wife ordered the fish taco. It was also good and tasty. Their mango iced was also good it wasn't too sweet. Expect to pay an arm and a leg here. But the food and the service was good. read more

We were promptly seated when we arrived for our 7:30 am reservations and was greeted by our server, the lovely and gracious, Gabrielle. Her contagious smile and upbeat personality gave us a nice jumpstart to our day. I asked for her recommendations on breakfast, and she recommended their Buttermilk Pancakes with macadamia nut-vanilla sauce. Sounds quite perfect for me, so I ordered, and validated, that it was amazing...Our daughter had the Mickey waffles, and my hubby had the seafood omelet which was also very tasty. The food was served at a reasonable time. The Kona Press Pot Coffee did not disappoint, and only kept us there a little longer. We relished our beach front view, with no crowds, and only the sounds of the waves softly crashing on the shore...Hawaiian perfect. read more

A beautiful fine-dining culinary journey and representation of the true spirit of aloha. My wife and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary by booking a trip to Oahu and staying at Disney's Aulani Resort in Ko'Olina. I read about AMA' AMA's reopening and reimagining through some Disney travel articles and channels and tried to book a reservation on our actual anniversary day, however, the reservations were full for that day so we booked a reservation a couple days before the actual date. Our experience exceeded any expectation I may have had prior to our arrival. The restaurant layout lends to a beautiful open shoreline view, letting the nature of the island truly speak for itself. Additionally, the entire staff was so pleasant and warm, they each took their time to lead you into your dining experience with extensive knowledge and care. After some discussion with our wonderful server (Brittany) I went with the wine pairing along with my decided pre-fixe menu course selections. Each plate was beautifully and meticulously crafted to an extent that allowed the flavors in each bite to highlight the ingredients individually and really showed the Chef's overall vision for each collective dish as a whole. Furthermore, the wine pairing selections were in perfect compliment to the dishes and elevated the overall experience by adding another layer of flavor complexity. ((A few favorites of mine were: the Vension Tartare (exquisite flavor and texture complexities), He'e (rich flavors with a surprising touch of home-cooking comfort), Local Catch (changes frequently, sadly I can't remember the name of the type of fish I had, but it was a beautiful white fish and the preparation was stunning) and the Ribeye (perfectly cooked portions with ingredients that once again complimented one another layer-by-layer) while my wife loved the Kiawe Smoked fish, Pork Belly, and Lamb)). After our meal we were greeted by the restaurant manager and expressed how much we enjoyed the experience. She let us know that if we really wanted to dine there again on our anniversary that we could call day of to see if there were any cancellations. Sure enough, we loved the experience so much we checked day of and they had reservation availability for us. Our second experience was just as delightful as the first and felt like visiting friends! The staff was so kind and attentive, they truly made our celebration that much more special. If you're looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion with an elegant and delectable dining experience then AMA' AMA' is a must! Truly one of the most disappointing dining experiences we have ever had. A $1,000 bill for the worst service we've ever received and mediocre food. I'll preface with - we have been DVC members for 10+ years, have eaten at every restaurant in Disney and one of our party members was a server for 5 years. THE ATMOSPHERE: The meal started off great, they explained the menu and the options really well. The views and the restaurant are absolutely stunning. THE WINE: The night started to decline during course 1 with the wine pairing. I cannot stress enough DO NOT GET THE WINE PAIRING. We didn't get any wine for the first 15 minutes, and every wine we got was presented like it was nice but they were all $8 bottles of wine. THE FOOD: The food was good, but only okay. It had nice ingredients but the flavors just weren't there. Especially for the price, I expected mind blowing flavors and it just didn't live up to par. We also had a vegan who got the plant based menu and for the same price (???) it was incredibly bland and had no flavor. Finally, THE SERVICE: The service was absolutely horrible. Coming from a former server, they forgot to put some people's drinks in, they forgot to put our second course in (and admitted to it) so we ended up waiting 40 minutes for course #2 and our second glass of wine I might add. The table next to us had 4 people serving them (they were seemingly important?) and the other 5 tables still there at 9pm had no one. We all waited probably 30 minutes between courses where we got no drinks, no water and the dirty plates sat in front of us. We didn't get any bread service while the important table next to us got bread service with every course. It seems like this place has either no management or inexperienced management because they offered us nothing at the end of the meal. They admitted multiple times the service was horrible and all they offered was "sorry for your experience" and a $1,000 check. Do not waste your money, the food at Off the Hook next door was incredibly better for a fraction of the price and much better service. read more

Beautiful restaurant- we were able to see the sunset- we had the best view. Service was great- very attentive. I happened to love everything I ate. The seafood was fresh and delicious. My husband does not care for seafood, so options were limited. read more

My happiest place on Earth happens to be THE happiest place on Earth. We had returned from a stint there and I was still disappointed that they didn't have the plumeria ears headband. My niece was going to be there soon and we were planning to both get them. I couldn't possibly let her be sad about them not being there for her! Ok, so now you know what caused us to venture to Ko Olina. We figured that since we were there, we may as well have dinner in the area. Yelp and someone's phrase of the "best dinner he's ever had" became the goal! To AmaAma we go! We enjoyed our dinner very much! My husband had the rib eye and I had the scallops. The steak was very juicy and delicious and cooked exactly medium. The scallops came with a garnish of caviar. One of those sodium on sodium combos that work :) the sides of brussel sprouts and asparagus were delicious! If I could have an endless supply of those brussel sprouts, I would be a happy camper. We were way too full to entertain dessert, but they gave us some sugar cookies to enjoy later. Awesome final touch. Would be happy to come back! read more
The lobster roll ($24) was delicious!! Everyone in my table ordered it and that was a good idea because it was so delicious. There were big pieces of lobster! That made it better. The bread and other things taste good so that made the roll prefect. You can choose your side. Salad or fries (regular or sweet potato). The roll is filling so I was glad that I chose the salad. My aunt had sweet potato and that was delicious too. I had some from her. lol The other time I had roasted chicken salad sandwich ($19) and that was good too. I like it a lot but lobster roll is my winner! The view was great too. Ocean is right out there and it was so pretty. The breeze was nice. I go there once or twice a year for lunch but never had to wait. Waiters are friendly and so nice and also happy people and they made us feel good. read more

'Ama 'Ama is a wonderful place to grab a meal! Obviously, the prices are high because of the location and amazing view! If you can get over that, then you will have a fabulous experience here. Service is great, the food is flavorful, and that view of the ocean while you dine is unforgettable. I went with this lunch item: Lobster Roll ($27) - bacon, lettuce, avocado on a Portuguese sweet bread roll Lobster rolls are typically priced in the mid-high teens so clearly the $27 is way overinflated. The sandwich was pretty good though and the bacon was a good touch. It might've had more imitation lobster than I prefer, but it was still tasty! I'd definitely come back again to enjoy a tropical drink and the view. There is a dress code for dinner so keep that in mind when making meal plans. read more

This is a four course five-star meal in front of the beach. I have never had more friendly, attentive service at any restaurant. From the time you enter, you are greeted warmly and the dinner truly was a beautiful experience. There is live music playing to add to the ambiance and beauty of the evening each course is explained and the service wants to ensure that guests are satisfied. I would recommend this to anyone willing to pay the price. For us, it was a splurge but absolutely worth it! read more

When I learned that there was a Disney resort in Oahu, I knew I'd be going to check it out at some point. And indeed, the place does not disappoint. It's enormous and the designs and details are pretty astounding. Of course, I knew I had to try one of their many restaurants, so we settled on 'Ama 'Ama given its close proximity to the water. We got a pretty sweet table so things were looking quite promising. I decided to order Today's Hawaiian Sustainable Catch Tacos ("with Island Slaw and salsa") with the sweet potato fries. They arrived a little while later and...they weren't great. I can't remember what kind of fish was used but it was pretty irrelevant given that they'd been overcooked to an absurd degree. It was just so punishingly dry, and the sparse condiments certainly didn't help much. Adding insult to injury, the tortillas tasted a little stale! It was just an epic fail all around. The sweet potato fries tasted like they came out of a bag but at least they were hot. But the were accompanied by a small dish of ketchup and I think this was literally the first time I've ever received ketchup with sweet potato fries. Isn't some kind of aioli the accepted standard? Anyway, I can't say I enjoyed my meal much, which stung pretty hard once I got the bill. read more

No - for holidays they are limited to resort guests - the 4 Season does the same
Are lunch reservations needed? Seems like dinners are totally booked but lunches seem wide open. Is the service level (I.e. table service) the same at lunch and dinner?
Not necessary, but helpful to make a reservation. Table service is the same at lunch and dinner. Dinner value borders on horrible but lunch is fantastic.
Is there an allergy menu? Specifically for dairy and gluten.
They are very accommodating. I know there is a vegetarian / vegan menu, which may help with the dairy allergy part. But they will modify anything.
Are walk-ins welcome? or is this restaurant restricted to resort guests?
They absolutely welcome non-hotel guests! However you probably need a reservation since it's a popular place. Enjoy.
