Had an eventful experience at Roy's. Our first table had some condensation dripping from the ceiling onto my daughter and husband. It was little and inconsistent but unpleasant so I requested to switch tables. They were quick and accomadating and moved us across the room. We were given some rose to toast to our anniversary as well as some complimentary brussel sprouts. They were delicious! Our food came out shortly after and everything was well presented. However my daughter's food came out with a sharpie on her plate. LOL we could not stop laughing in shock. They quickly remade the dish and comped her meal. As we were taking pictures and video of the food we spilled some Rose and they were quick to come out and help us clean it up. We could not stop laughing at ourselves. At the end of our meal we were given some comped desserts as well as ones we ordered. All of the food was good but the portions were a little small. The restaurant could use some updating as well. The layout is a little strange and it is not the most aesthetic. Overall we had a good experience, everyone working here was friendly and warm. Pleasantly surprised!! I haven't been to Roy's as a parent, so this was my first experience with a little keiki. They pulled out all the stops for her. They had a coloring book with crayons, a three course prefixed meal for kids. It came with a yummy appetizer, you could choose the entree and it came with an ice cream sandwich dessert. My daughter loved it and it's hard to impress her. We got the appetizer sampler with beef and sushi which was filling in itself and we got the double fish entree. I absolutely recommend the sampler! It was delicious. They gave us little finger towels between our appetizer and entree which elevated the experience and my water cup was also full. They were so kind to us as a little family. I didn't think I would love this place as there is no ocean view, but the golf course was serene enough to make it special. read more

Roy's was our second restaurant in Hawaii for our honeymoon. We walked across the street from Aulani to the lovely country club/golf course where this restaurant resides. First off I gotta say that more restaurants should do a bowl of seasoned edamame instead of complementary bread. I could not stop eating these, they were addicting. Our waiter was wonderful and the service was great. The food was delicious for the most part save for my wife's ribeye. It was a bit of a miss in my book. It was way over charred, but my wife didn't seem to mind. Our surf and turf cooked sushi rolls were really good. My meal, the bacon jam scallops, was also inventive and delicious. The ambience outside was lovely with a great view of the pristine Ko Olina golf course at Twilight. All and all I would love to come back here should I find myself in Ko Olina again. read more

Made lunch reservations for our anniversary at Roy's Ko Olina and was amazed by the service, view and food presented. We were warmly greeted by the hostess who wished us a happy anniversary and were given the option to sit indoors or outdoors. We chose indoor and were seated promptly. The restaurant itself was pretty empty and we got a table by the window where we had a nice view of the golf course. Our server Bianca was super nice and gave us recommendations on the menu. We had the Crab Cakes, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Chinatown Chicken Spring Rolls and the Honey Mustard Charred Beef Short Rib. Portion sizes were good and we were thoroughly surprised by how good the Spring Rolls and Beef Short Ribs were. The spring rolls were hot and crispy on the outside, but was a little different because it had a black bean sauce underneath which was a nice surprise. The beef short ribs were so tender and filling when paired with the mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. At the end of our meal we were presented with a complimentary chocolate soufflé which was a surprise. The soufflé had a nice firm exterior with a nice soft soufflé on the inside and molten chocolate. The first impression at the front desk wasn't the warmest, as the lady seemed a little uninterested. However, once we were seated, everything completely changed. Our server, Edison, was absolutely outstanding. He welcomed us with such genuine warmth, always had a smile on his face, and was incredibly attentive throughout the entire meal. He checked on us at just the right times and made sure we had everything we needed without us having to ask. The rest of the staff were also very friendly and courteous. The misoyaki butterfish and island fish were delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked, but what really stood out was the green color sauce, it was incredibly flavorful and honestly one of the best we've had. We also really appreciated the keiki meal. Instead of serving typical junk food, they offered a thoughtfully prepared meal, which was a huge plus for us as parents. Our child had such a wonderful birthday dinner, and the attentive service made the celebration feel extra special. The only small issue was that we noticed some tiny bugs in our glasses of water. They were too tiny to see if you weren't looking closely. Overall, the exceptional service, especially from Edison and the delicious food far outweighed this minor issue. My family and I came to celebrate my MIL's birthday for Sunday brunch. It was not busy and lots of space to sit at. We had a nice view of people golfing. The hostess was very nice and sat us quickly. She also showed us where the restroom was. The service was on point. He was very friendly and explained the menu very well. He also recommended us what food were good which we ended up choosing. The food/drink runners were also great! The kids menu was amazing!!! They had a cute appetizer set that came quickly. The food portion was enough for my children and they loved it. It also came with a dessert after. I got the ahi burger which was flavorful. We always get their assorted appetizer (that is enough for 3-4 people) and their brussel sprouts! I can not go to Roy's without ordering their brussel sprouts. The past times I went there, I would order their chocolate molten cake which you would have to put in a order ahead of time and that is really good. We were PX's (Discreet code for VIP's) at the Rancho Mirage Roy's in CA, before they sadly closed during Covid, never to reopen. We were there a couple times a week for happy Hour (HH) and always appreciated the consistency in food and service. It was always lively, full and fun. I was so excited to visit the Roys here in Hawaii. We came in for HH.I was really disappointed. When you enter you walk past a bar that is closed, through the restaurant, which was empty to an outdoor patio area, which was nice but dead. It was us and another table. They did not have the 1988 (look it up) it's their signature cocktail, named after the year they opened, no shishito peppers, no ebi roll. The food was ok, but not on par to other Roy's. The bartender's attitude was great I have to say, but we probably won't go back, although we said we were going everyday before we got here. read more

We came here for my brother's birthday, almost make it a tradition every time we're in the area and it sucks to say that Roy's has fallen off. For lunch I ordered a prime rib sandwich which came out overdone. The bread was soggy and not toasted and the fries I had to switch out because they were regular as opposed to garlic fries. Our server seemed like he didn't want to be there, even though he came off with a nice demeanor it seemed like he was overworked and didn't really give me good vibes. Only saving grace was the matcha creme brûlée which is why I give this location 2/5 instead of 1 star. Which was once a tradition is now more of something we have to move on from. The service is consistently good, and we always love when we're able to sit out on the lanai. The restaurant itself isn't anything over the top visually. It definitely matches the golf clubhouse vibe of the area. That said, the food is always the star here. My partner never strays from the Plantation Paella, and for good reason. It's packed with flavor and incredibly satisfying. I always go for the honey mustard short rib, which is rich, tender, and full of bold, delicious flavor. The drinks are solid as well, whether you're in the mood for a sweetened iced tea or something to take the edge off. We always finish with the macadamia nut tart for dessert. I said we are hungry and wanted appetizers now, but aren't ready to order entrees. She said that's the policy. But will seek an exception. She got that approved. (well that's good!!). Appetizers arrived and she started collecting our dinner menus. Almost like a punishment of some kind. Plopped them on the table next to us. She left my menu. But took wife and kids. Again...what's going on here?? Luckily the kids and wife already decided. She came right back and asked for our entree order. After she took their menus...so odd! Hostess, Busser and food-runner were great. Manager didn't touch any tables. Never came to our table. But was touchy with his staff. Flirtatious. Not professional. Arm around female...appeared to be consoling her. Also touchy with the hostess. Ordered desserts. As soon as desserts arrived, so did our bill. No rush we were told by our server. Ok, if no Rush...why did we feel rushed at every stage of dinner. I'm sure it's hard to find good help, but Roy's you're better off closing a section and running short handed than having the wrong people waiting on guests. We made a reservation for a Thursday night at 7:30 pm. It wasn't too busy, and we were seated outside. The atmosphere was nice - soft lighting, not noisy, and you could see the golf course a little. We ordered: Golden Hour Prix Fixe - Hands down the best deal on the menu. For about $100, you get a full 3-course meal that's very filling. The hamachi and rib appetizers were rich, and the pickled veggies balanced everything out perfectly. The filet was cooked to order with gorgeous grill marks and paired with flavorful roasted veggies. The real standout was the potato and cauliflower galette--so unique and delicious! Dessert was the chocolate soufflé made to order. It did take about 25 minutes after the entrée, but honestly, the time flew by. Baked Brie en Croute for Two - So good! It comes wrapped in puff pastry with honey, poached apples, and mac nuts for crunch. A generous portion, definitely shareable between 2-4 people. Beni's Philly Roll - Not what you'd traditionally expect, but delicious. The bonito flakes added a fun texture, and the rice had a seasoned, slightly brown color that really stood out. Service was excellent throughout the night. After appetizers, we were given moist towelettes to clean up, our waters were consistently filled, and they even offered tea and coffee with dessert. Food came out perfectly paced. They also thoughtfully packed our leftovers in a to-go box and bag. Since we were celebrating our anniversary, the staff went above and beyond. They surprised us with banana pudding tarts decorated with "Happy Anniversary," which really made the night special. This also ended up being a surprise proposal and the staff were able to film it for us. And we are so grateful! My bf made reservations for us to come here to celebrate our anniversary and this instantly became one of my favorite restaurants. We chose to sit out on the balcony which overlooks the looking golf course. The night we came, we had someone playing live music by the bar and the entire staff we've encountered was super friendly and outstanding! They served us seasoned edamame upon us sitting down, which was tasty. We chose to go with the butterfish as our appetizer and it was amazing! I almost wish I ordered it as an entree but kinda glad I didn't as I enjoyed my scallops so much! My bf got the lamb and was really impressed with it. I personally don't care too much for lamb as it often has a gamey taste, but the lamb was seasoned very well and didnt taste gamey at all! They did give us the dessert menu early as the waiter mentioned it takes about 25-30 minutes to make, so we decided to go with the Mac nut tart. Roy's is just a short walk from Aulani Disney Resort. It's located next to the Ko Olina Golf course. We celebrated my Birthday and my wife had made a reservation for my whole family. Roy's made it special by assigning us to a private room. Our server, Kerisa, was very nice and sweet. She gave us the house special menu as well as their special drinks. The staff treated us very special and attended to our needs. I ordered the 16-oz Prime Ribeye. It's huge in portions and the meat came in tender and juicy. They made it the way I liked it. My family enjoyed their dinner as well as my grandson's kids' meal. At the end of our dinner, Roy's gave me a birthday treat by handing me a plate of brownies and ice cream. It's been a few years since I've been here and I'm happy to know that things haven't changed much, other than some of the food offerings. The service is always top notch, a sign to me that the GM Ty, and staff are doing a good job. My buddy and I came in to enjoy a great HH, and were fortunate to best to dinner rush. Our bar server, Bryson, did an excellent job in seeing to our needs and making sure we had everything we wanted. They offer a nice variety of both draft and bottled beers, along with a good wine selection. The food offered during HH was very extensive, with a nice mix of meat, seafood, and other fresh items. We started with the Sashimi Trio, followed by the Canoe for Two and added more Mongolian Ribs. The sashimi cuts could've been a bit more "generous", but the fish was fresh and tasty. The Canoe really had a good selection of all their appetizers, and our favorite were the Mongolian ribs; nicely smoky and fall off the bone tender. We also had their edamame appetizers; both with sweet chili sauce and the regular seasoned ones. I would definitely opt for the regular, based on flavor. Great food and great service. Local to Oahu, but the windward side, we were staying at Aulani and wanted a special place to celebrate our anniversary that wasn't on the resort property. We decided on Roy's, and were so happy we did. For holidays they seem to do a fixed menu. They had one for Father's Day, and after looking at the special menu and the normal one, we decided to take a chance on the special one. Again, a great choice. We love trying new things, but being told what to try. This was a perfect example of that. The special menu was 5 courses 1st course- Spicy Island Ahi Temaki- this was amazing. Great way to start the meal. Probably the best sushi cone I've had. 2nd course- House Smoked Local Beef Brisket Toast & Bacon Bean Sip- the only downside to this is I wish there was more! 3rd course- Japan Bluefin Crudo- loved the yuzu! 4th course- For our entrees, we both got the specials that weren't on the menu. I got the lobster tails over mushroom risotto, and my husband got the beef Wellington. Both were amazing. I did abandon my lobster tails when I was getting full to finish the risotto, which felt wrong, but tasted so good! His Wellington was perfection, and we've had Gordon Ramsays version. 5th course- Roasted Local Banana Cheesecake- oh, this was good! Perfect banana flavor and the crust was a biscoff crust and it had Carmel popcorn. We sat outside in the open air, but under cover, overlooking the gold course. The weather was perfect. We had a 6:30 reservation so it was in the sun for only a couple minutes. After walking through the building I think we definitely prefer outside seating. Live music was a great surprise. The staff was delightful. So kind and helpful, and you could tell they truly believed in the food they were serving. Our drinks never sat empty and they checked on us often. I was so looking forward to dining here for Easter. Sadly it's the first time I was actually irritated at a restaurant that's supposedly special. Six of us entered as soon as the doors opened at 11:30 a.m. We had a nice table on the upper level with a great view. The server had a toothy smile and loud voice but that was it. She began her spiel without even welcoming us or saying Happy Easter. She told us what today's fish was and what her favorites were. We were left unattended for most of our meal. Even my grandson said how come we came in first and other people have their food? She only reappeared to ask if we wanted plantation ice tea and if were ready for the bill. Truthfully she needs more customer training and to be observant and use initiative to check on guests' tables. At one point 5 of our table stood up to use the restroom cuz we had been patiently waiting a very unacceptable long time. Dessert was no where in sight. The kiddies' pasta looked unappetizing and they both remarked it was too buttery. Son in law who loves sashimi did not care for the appetizer for two's seared fish. Hubs' clubhouse sandwich was okay and he shared his fries with our granddaughter. Flies were on our grandson's cucumbers and we were constantly shooing the flies away throughout our meal. Our table assistant helped a bad situation by boxing my meal as the flies were a problem. She even apologized about the flies. She serviced our table, cleared away the uneaten food and used dishes. We waited and waited. Our server never had a clue that we were kept waiting for the chocolate dessert we preordered and even the kiddies dessert that came with their meal. Not a pleasant way to celebrate Easter. Honestly worst service on this island ever. One star for table assistant Maliah, sweet and efficient. One star for the literally temperature hot yummy chocolate dessert. I gave my entire ice cream scoop to my granddaughter. So sad cuz her kid's pasta was not okay. The reservation process through OpenTable was easy, and the food and service were exemplary, thank you, Trey and Elan. Have been coming to here for 10 years with my family every time we stay at Ko Olina and it's one of our favorites for a nice meal. Interesting menu that is seasonal but our favorites are the misoyaki butterfish, compressed watermelon and feta salad, and surf and turf maki. Wait staff here is excellent, very hospitable and knowledgeable about the menu. For the past few years we've been getting Sing and he is an amazing server!! He always welcome and remembers us every single time and makes sure we have a great visit. Only thing I wish they could improve was the bathrooms and the paper towels. The men's bathroom was run down and had a weird smell. Considering the price point, I think they should also have nicer paper towels--Roy's in the continental US has thick nice quality towels compared to just ones that come out of the dispenser here. read more

This review is for our experience for Aloha Hour (Happy Hour) which they host daily from 2pm to 5pm. Seating is available on their patio, first come first serve. They had a good selection of food and beverage specials. We ordered the Roy's Canoe for Two, Hurricane Fries, and Cheesy Truffle Orzo Pasta w/ Smoked Pork Belly. Contrary to its name, the Canoe for Two didn't come in a canoe, but rather a large plate lol. There were some items that left much to be desired, such as the blackened ahi and chicken spring rolls. It could be better. The star was definitely the truffle orzo pasta, I would eat a whole plate of it if I could. I ordered an espresso martini that wasn't on the happy hour menu. It was probably one of the best I've had. The waitress was very attentive and checked on us frequently. Would we come back? That's still up in the air. Maybe for a special occasion for dinner. And the location on the ko'olina golf course was scenic and serene. Some of the food was really good, however the steaks we ordered were far from good. I got a ribeye that looked and tasted like an over cooked sirloin. But added on sea bass which was really good. Wife ordered the filet and it was almost inedible. They took back and brought another that wasn't any better. Think they need to stay with fish. The manager came to the table and tried to make things right. She was nice and professional and appreciate her. It was date night that just didn't meet expectation. If wasn't for the good service we would have given 1-2 stars. read more
