We really like the thorough application AMA required, and we were very excited to hear we had a qualifying appointment. The facility houses a small amount of pets and is very clean and well maintained. All the pets have wonderful care. Jovanna walked us thoroughly through the adoption phases as our pup of choice was so young we will be foster to adopt parents until our pup "Brooklyn" will be neutered. The process is 4 part in our case, application, video interview, meet and greet, and foster to adopt!! AMA will be forever a special adoption facility for us! Thank you for all your help and making the adoption process very seamless

These babies have the best food, care and fashion

I volunteer here and I am astonished by the amount of love and care provided by the staff, admin and volunteers. This place is amazing. Every single person gives their all to the animals. Hugs, best food, just talking to the animals, walking them, feeding, fostering, taking to the appointments. The dogs and cats get an enormous amout of care and love. They are so well taken care of. I am their loyalest fan!

We recently had the pleasure of adopting our baby Billy from AMA Animal Rescue. Billy is a puppy and was about to be euthanized by his previous owner for all the wrong reasons. The Angels at AMA came to the rescue and saved his life! We had an unbelievable experience with AMA. The owners and staff are some of the most professional and passionate people we have ever meet. They are extremely thorough when if came to the adoption process and want nothing but the best for the animals they rescue. Their facility in Brooklyn is super clean and the animals they have on the premises are very well taken care of. If you are looking to rescue a Cat or Dog, AMA is the place to go. If you want to just donate to them, AMA needs your help! They take only the extreme cases and these cases cost the most money. The cases of extreme neglect, abuse and when society has given up on these poor animals, AMA does not! Please follow them on Facebook and Instagram and you will see the wonderful and important work AMA is doing. So consider donating to them today! Angels for Mistreated Animals are doing wonderful things to help our dog and cat crisis. They are true angels, caring for those who do not have a voice, caring for those that cannot care for themselves. They are making significant strides, one poor mistreated animal at a time.

These are incredible people doing all they can to help animals. I'm impressed with their level of care, management, and how they run their operations. As a foster parent for Pancakes, I can say with certainty that every animal under their care is well taken care of. They have excellent customer service, people skills, and follow-through.

If you live anywhere in NYC and are looking to adopt...GO TO AMA! This was an incredible adopting experience. They truly care so much about their rescues and want to make sure they end up in a fantastic home with owners who will provide them with the best life. I initially reached out to AMA after finding them through Yelp in December 2017. My parents decided to get my younger sister a rescue chihuahua and AMA had one named Pablo up for adoption at the time. I spoke with own of the founders, Anna about the next steps in the adoption process. They were so involved in making sure we were a good fit to have him in our lives. He was badly abused and neglected prior to ending in the hands of AMA so he needed a patient family that was willing to work with his issues and fear of nearly all people. They came to our home to ensure it was safe for a dog to live in, had us interact with him around them, foster him for a set period of time before giving us the go ahead to officially adopt our fur baby. A year and a half later, we still update them on Pablo's new (& very spoiled) life. Everything they do for animals is so incredible and I would recommend them to anyone that wants to adopt. Thank you AMA for bringing Pablo into our lives, our family is now complete!

My girlfriend and I adopted 13 year old senior dog. This shelter takes the BEST care of animals. He is so happy and the best dog. We are thankful and encourage others to help AMA. Senior dogs are so calm and well-trained. AMA has the best senior dogs and we could tell they were truly taken care of. Cannot thank you enough!

AMA helped to rescue Fei from a South Korean dog meat farm, where she was a breeder.

Our family adopted Fei from AMA recently and it was a great experience. Our volunteer coordinator Claire, even with her busy schedule, was always helpful and responsive -- just a text away. We cannot thank them enough for allowing us to adopt this wonderful Korean Jindo. Fei was rescued from South Korea, from a dog meat farm, where she was a breeder and, at the age of 1 1/2 yrs, has already had at least two litters of puppies. While she's fixed now, it was clear that when we first met her that she wanted a good forever home. For instance, Fei wrapped her paws around my legs the instant I came through the front door. Probably also helpful that we speak Korean and she is so eager to please. While we had some question marks about Fei (or any dog for that matter) and they would be around our toddler, we were able to establish limits and influence behavior very quickly -- AMA being a support every step of the way. AMA also made the home visits so easy -- as was the adoption process, standard and nothing intrusive or out of the ordinary. Along the way, they were helpful with their vet partner in Brooklyn -- where we dealt with a bout of giardia -- and we talked about training and lifestyle considerations. I would highly recommend them be your first stop for adopting. Score out of Five: Friendliness: Five stars! Customer Service: Five stars! Ease of Adoption Process: Five stars! Would I ever recommend them? Absolutely!

Viola my first foster, pulled from a kill shelter by AMA Animal Rescue
    Uri K.

AMA Animal Rescue is a wonderful organization founded by two lovely young women who are dedicated to saving animals. I initially volunteered to foster a dog named Viola who had been abused all her life but pulled from a kill shelter by AMA. Mariya (one of the founder) was very patient with all my questions and always supportive, responding to my many frequent texts as Viola was very sick. AMA did its best to save her life but sadly she passed away. Throughout the whole process I witnessed how much Mariya loved these animals and I am grateful for the opportunity to have given Viola a loving, safe home during the last month of her life. I ended up fostering another dog who AMA rescued from a terrible condition. I fell in love with her and ended up adopting my second foster with AMA. The adoption process was very smooth. Overall, AMA is wonderful and I cannot help but admire the volunteers for their tireless dedication to saving animals.

Cost: Open Squash FiDi has a special program for newcomers. If you are interested in playing the sport, Open Squash will make it happen. Open Squash FiDi has the best coaches. Here are some of the coaches I have taken lessons from. Amr: Amr is known for his precision; he can direct the ball to any spot on the court he desires. His remarkable skills extend beyond the game, as he can shape any person into the squash player they aspire to be. He focuses on teaching you how to utilize your strengths while simultaneously transforming your weaknesses into strengths. As the former Egyptian National Coach from 2017 to 2023, Amr introduced Egyptian training methods to Open Squash. I have witnessed significant improvements in our juniors' squash skills under his guidance. More importantly, Amr also plays a vital role in helping juniors build their character. I recall an instance when a younger player, around 13 or 14 years old, was practicing with two older juniors, aged around 17 or 18. She appeared a bit frustrated during the drill. As soon as she stepped off the court, Amr praised her swing and noted some positive changes she had made. That encouragement brought a big smile to her face. She is not only learning how to play squash from Amr but also how to care for others, thanks to his example.  Amr is more than just a fantastic coach; he is an exceptional person, living up to his nickname, "Baby Legend." Adel: Adel is like "a good friend you can always count on," especially when it comes to women playing squash. She has a deep understanding of women's bodies and the changes they go through over time, such as during their menstrual cycle, childbirth, and aging. Adel is dedicated to helping women excel at squash by offering modified training and routines that strengthen their skills. Her coaching abilities extend beyond just women; I often see her interacting with junior players, adjusting their form, and creating an environment where they can genuinely enjoy the game. I also observe her training male players to help them achieve their goals in her clinics. Adel believes that everyone has their unique path, and she is committed to helping each individual become the best squash player they can be. Ciara: Ciara is the women's community manager who is dedicated to increasing access for women in squash. She often gathers ideas from members and designs various programs such as "Queen of the Courts" and "Women Only Camp." Her efforts make many women feel comfortable participating in Open Squash. Ciara is an energetic, fun, and compassionate coach, exceptionally skilled at working with young children. I often see kids gathering around her, hugging her, and treating her like a big Barbie doll. Despite the affection they show, the kids also respect her authority. On one occasion, I witnessed her discipline a child, calmly explaining the correct behavior. Her firm yet kind approach makes her the perfect coach for all young kids. Habiba: Habiba is known as the "Torture Queen." She pushes us to our limits during training sessions, leaving our bodies exhausted, yet we can't help but want to return for more. As our 3.0 team coach, she is dedicated to improving the squash skills of all team members. She frequently discusses the adjustments she plans to make and the areas she wants us to focus on, ensuring that we maximize our learning experience. One time, I received a text message from her at 10 PM asking for input on the proper training content for us. Yes, at 10 PM, she was still thinking about how to help her students. Talk about dedication! A former World Junior Champion, Habiba has brought her training methods from Egypt to our program. She trains multiple junior players and is especially recognized for teaching deceptive plays and advanced squash techniques. She closely monitors all her juniors and once told me that if they do not practice and follow the assignments, she will drop them from her program. She exemplifies "tough love." Despite the intensity of her training, both adults and juniors find her incredibly popular. I often see her joking with adult members while juniors eagerly gather around her. Everyone can feel her sincerity and genuine care for our improvement. We all appreciate her "torture" and "tough love". Open Squash FiDi has invited top college coaches and players, including Nouran Gohar, Gina Kennedy, Victor Crouin, and Hannah Craig, to host summer camps. In addition to the kids' camps, Open Squash FiDi also offers adult camps with top pros as well as an all-women's camp. If you are thinking of practicing a sport, squash is a great choice, and Open Squash FiDi is the best place to start. If you have already played squash, Open Squash FiDi can be your new home.
