Lovely place inside Ocean casino. What a find for us, I have gotten accustomed to there is not many or any good options in ac. The with the exception of the empanada which was too greasy, every dish was delightful. Oh, thank goodness- sometimes things can be the same. Last time we visited Amada was two years past and when the mad Russian had a birthday celebration this weekend, I was hoping that it would be just as good. Same menu- same chef- same pricing (I think) It was like the world was put on pause while the resort got itself figured out. All of our favorites were still on the menu save one--- this needs to be fixed soon and how!- the doughnuts they used to make for dessert were to die for. So warm soft and delicious -- we missed them. Please restore them to their former glory.... not now...Right now! Frank was our main server and he did an awesome job at taking care of us. Others came by to make sure glasses were full and dishes were replaced. Scallops were a standout, but you can do no wrong ordering off the menu here- everything is great. Took my husband here for bday dinner at the Ocean Resort Hotel. It was a Sunday night not crowded at all. All restaurant goes were very spread out. We sat in what they call a "bird cage" very nice ambience. The waitress was very nice and checking on us often. The manager came over as well. Everyone wore their masks which was great. The waitress even bought us a couple glass of champagne to celebrate his birthday. The food was excellent prices fair. I would definitely eat here again the next time I stay at the hotel. read more

Had dinner reservations and they served us ROTTEN shrimp! The moment we ate it, the shrimp tasted like ammonia which has this distinct taste and smell as you chew the food. We googled it and it basically said it's spoiled seafood which let out nitrogenous gas that basically ends up being ammonia. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone. They serve rotten seafood!! Our dinner should have been comped but they just removed the price of the shrimp. Our receipt was $220! I hate to type up this review because I do believe that the food is amazing, but our server was rude and kept rushing us throughout the entire course of our visit. I was not the only one that thought the same, the rest of my party felt rushed even though we came to enjoy small tapas and catch up with one another in a beautiful restaurant. I was definitely rubbed the wrong way when she gave us our menus and while we were contemplating on what to get, she'd ask us if we're ready to order (this part is normal) and we said no. The 2nd time around she asked, but when we said no again, she decided to say, "IF YOU want to still look at the menu that's okay, BUT I'M going to start explaining the menu right now so..." And she continues on with the explanation as I sat there flabbergasted. Throughout the course of our meal our she would come up to us every few minutes saying in a rude condescending voice, "May I PLEASE clear your table??" But there would still be a couple scraps left and we told her no thank you we were still finishing up and in about 5 minutes on the dot, she comes and rudely says, "May I PLEASE take your plate now??" We literally looked at each other saying, wtf...So now at this point even if we wanted to order more drinks, we were literally rushing to eat our food before our server comes and takes away our plates even though it's clearly visible that we are trying to enjoy a conversation with one another. I also thought overall that they were overstaffed and undertrained at this establishment, especially since it is technically considered a high class restaurant. Before we decided on drinks we had asked another server which wines were red, she pointed at a section (it was all in Spanish and thought the servers would know best). We picked the wine and it came out white. Another server when he brought out flatbreads failed to tell us compliments of the chef, when handing it out, which made us worry that he had given us someone else's order. We had to call the server telling them we never ordered it and have them tell us it was complimentary (I was so embarrassed). I'm hoping this is a hit or miss, because the food was amazing and the restaurant alone was beautiful, but honestly the service alone would make me not want to come back. This weekend I dined at Amada for a friend's birthday. We were a large party so our waiter insisted we do "La Mesa de José", essentially Chef's Choice. Wisely one of my friends opted not to do this as he has a life-threatening nut allergy. (I actually ended up going with "La Mesa de José" and while good, I don't think it was worth $85 per person...) So my friend orders a filet mignon (to the dismay of our server). He was told several times that his food would likely come out later, yada yada. Still my friend persisted and made it perfectly clear that he cannot have anything with nuts on or around his food. So the food is coming out for those of us who went with Chef's Choice and my friend is sitting there waiting for his filet mignon. Another friend of mine seated next to us opted for chicken, which came out around the same time as the first tapas of the Chef's Choice. Now the chicken comes with 3 different sauces: chimichurri, some green/creamy sauce, and a red sauce with ALMONDS/NUTS. A different server came up to my friend with the nut allergy and explicitly pointed out that nut sauce to warn him. What do you know, my friend's filet comes out and what is it served with? That's right, the same 3 sauces as the chicken, including the ONE WITH NUTS. So not only did my friend sit there waiting for food while the rest of us ate, the restaurant messed up the one critical thing that my friend ordered. It wasn't to be picky, it wasn't because he's a dick, it's because HE COULD DIE. My friend must have gone back and forth with the waiter for 5 minutes explaining he could not have any nuts and the waiter assured him that the food would be nut-free. Nope. Needless to say my friend's dinner was ruined and he sat there hungry. He wasn't even offered a glass of wine or anything to compensate. The only reason I'm not giving a one-star review is because my food wasn't terrible; some of it was actually quite good. So much so, for our first date night as a married couple we came back to the Atlantic City location. My husband had the skirt steak and I had the NY strip. When I posted a picture of my being at Amada on Instagram, a friend of mine commented that Garces isn't around anymore. My friend is an accomplishing chef in NYC, and even though he's usually in the know, he wasn't this time. But I'm sure that the repeated slicing, by guests and passersby alike, on a chef who did wrong would in turn be felt by his employees-- no matter how close in proximity they may be, and no matter how good the restaurant is or was. With that said, I came in and sat for several hours and ordered a ton of food. Everything was very good. I made a reservation for 6pm on a Friday night and I arrived a few minutes earlier. The hostess led to my table right away. The table was near the window but not next to it so I saw a view of the beach but not very well. I would prefer at the window. The next time I will request a table by the window. A server provided me with the menu. He, his name was Roger, introduced me as his server but then a few minutes later he said he wasn't my server and told him another server was going to be my server. While I was reviewing the menu, a different server came by and asked me if I wanted a drink. (Why was this was the third server assigned to my table I do not know.) I ordered red sangria and it was delicious though I would prefer some fruit in it. Since it was my first time I asked the server about the menu. She told me that there was 4 sections: (1)Tapas, which was like appetizers, (2)Meat including steak and lamp chops, (3) Fish , and (4) Vegetables. No vegetables came with your main course. I ordered garlic shrimp as tapas, lamp chops, and a rice dish with vegetables. They were delicious. I was full but ordered the basque cheesecake for dessert. It was delicious too. The bill came out to about $75 so it was a little expensive but not as expensive as American Cut which is at the hotel as well. I definitely recommend this place. read more

One of the main dishes we ordered here were the gambas (jumbo prawns). As we ate the prawns it had a strong ammonia taste, smell to it which means growth of bacteria in the shrimp, spoiled and served to us. We asked for the manager, (Jim). He took it back to the kitchen and mentioned that the chef apologizes for the prawns. He asked if we wanted anything to replace the dish and declined immediately. He offers dessert but never came back to show us the menu. I've always loved this restaurant in the past when it was Revel Casino. I bring parties here and can't stop talking about this place. A really great restaurant! The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is beautiful. Our server Grace was the perfect example of the server you hope to have when navigating an unfamiliar menu. She knows the food and she knows food! When I asked about certain options she gives you her honest opinion. Several times she would say, "that's ok" to my question on if something was good or not. I quickly realized that I should go with what she thought was great and I'm so glad I did. The 2 things I chose without Grace's input, the mushroom risotto and the white sangria, were just ok. The bacon wrapped dates, the tomato toast, the Iberico pork and the cheesecake were absolutely fabulous! I was in Seville Spain last year and had the tomato toast and have dreamed about it ever since, Amada's version is so close to the original that I couldn't have been happier. To preface this review, my wife and I have been to Amada several times in the past and enjoyed our experience each time. However, this is a review of our experience on Valentine's Day. Not wanting to cook this year, I made the executive decision to eat out and also saw that Amada had a Valentine's Day pre-fixe menu. As we've had pleasant experiences in the past, it seemed like a no-brainer. I should also mention that I decided to eat out the day of, a last minute decision. Most restaurants were maxed out on reservations, but curiously Amada had a few slots available. A few clicks later and our reservation was booked. Upon arriving, the restaurant didn't seem too busy yet, but every few minutes, new guests were funneled in, and the place slowly became packed. We were greeted with a complimentary snack dish which comprised one chocolate dipped strawberry and a chocolate cream-filled pastry. I felt it was a bit odd that it was only one strawberry and one pastry, meaning we were either forced to eat one each, or eat half each... neither which felt very romantic. Our server came to us and took our orders fairly quickly, but that was the last time I could say that. For the rest of the night, there would be extremely long periods of time where we had finished one course and was awkwardly waiting for what came next. Of course, you could argue that the restaurant was busy and that's why there were gaps in service, but glancing around showed that our server was just casually chatting with others, and prioritizing another section that they were also working. Our section was mainly my wife and I (Asian), and a few African American couples. It felt like our section may have been deliberately neglected as the other section appeared to be given more attention and preferential treatment. Another couple near us, waited 30-40 minutes without getting any food, and ended up walking out. When our server would finally check in on us, they would unemotionally say things like "Oh you guys didn't get your next dish?" and after another delay, finally bring our food to us. Service temporarily aside, several of the dishes were overcooked to the point where the vegetables were nearly mush and did not justify the high price we paid that night. There were a few winners, but more losers than we'd have liked on our romantic night out. A couple seated nearly an hour and a half after us were brought their complimentary snack. The person bringing it appeared to be the manager of the restaurant and actually dropped the pastry onto the table, and without skipping a beat, picked it up off the table with his bare hand and plated it back onto the dish in front of their very eyes. The couple stared at each other with a look of "Are you serious?" and had to openly request a replacement. As we were finishing up our dessert, a new couple was seated next to us and brought their complimentary snack dish, which was only a single chocolate dipped strawberry. I guess they ran out of the pastry, but in my opinion, they should have given at least two chocolate covered strawberries rather than a singular lonesome one. Overall, I'm not sure if it was due to poor management, planning, and overbooking on a big holiday, or if the restaurant has slowly been going downhill since the last time I visited, but I can't recommend Amada at this time. The food was more miss than hit, service was extremely questionable, and seeing what we saw with the manager, I'm now also suspect of the hygiene. read more

As a self proclaimed foodie who knows quality food and is willing to pay for it this place is shameful. Food quality and portions are extremely small for price mark. I went for dinner and left hungry. Pulpo gallego was overcooked the batatas brava was a total rip off more like miniature tator tots with simple sauce lacked flavor and depth. The only saving Grace was bartender made a decent drink. Oh and place was practically empty yet out of dinner entrees. Tonight was our first visit to Amada. We went to celebrate a combo birthday and anniversary. We were bummed at first because we didn't realize we also had to reserve/request seating with a view but luckily the manager was able to move us to where we could see the ocean during dinner. Next. The service. David, Cheech, and Michael were fantastic. They started us out with champagne for our celebrations, and even gave our daughter some ginger ale so she could do a "toast" with us. They put up with her trying to practice her Spanish and were absolutely on point. They were so personable. And David even brought out my hubs some ice cream with a candle so we could sing to him. The bar tender was from NYC and very friendly and efficient . Our friends treated to a very expensive dinner at the separate steak house, American Cut. Most everyone liked their meal but my was less than desirable. The steak was under cooked and under seasoned with no salt on the table. I chose a Shrimp cocktail for my side and it was not very good. The flesh of the shrimp was very soft and no amount of cocktail sauce made it better, even though the sauce was served in a very small tin like container. After waiting months to try this place, it did not disappoint ! This is a must try for anyone that loves Spanish influenced dishes. They have a pretty good selection of Tapas, we tried three since we truly came here to taste their paella. The service was perfect.
