Check we received where my husband was called names...
    Jennifer B.

Extremely unprofessional service...apparently my husband is "super weird" and the server was afraid of him. Not sure why as we had minimal interaction with her. Literally just said hello and placed an order for food and drinks. We ordered some drinks and food and he hates runny egg yokes and asked if it could be cooked a bit longer than usual so it wasn't runny. Really upsetting and embarrassing to get our check and see him called names on the check. Obviously we won't be eating here again. He also ordered a gluten free burger bun as he has a gluten allergy and received a regular bun which was discovered by us when he questioned that it didn't look gluten free. Honestly after seeing him called names on the check I'm not sure but that feels like it was possibly an intentional "mistake".

Great good and drinks. I had the cucumber martini, the vesper, truffle fries and haddock over risotto. My husband got the Amaia burger and the St Germain/Grey Goose martinis. Service was good too, our waitress was really nice and helpful with recommendations.

Pepperoni pizza was excellent, sticky boneless wings were perfect, but the standout was the caesar pita. WOW. absolutely excellent, this should be a highlighted menu item. We were blown away by how good it was! Our server Josh was great, very attentive and insightful! Always a great chill vibe with the low lighting, and love the visible pizza oven. One of our favorite spots in Hudson! We will definitely be back.

The restaurant was also hosting a teacher appreciation event where teachers ate free which I thought was amazing of them even though I'm not a teacher. We had to wait a bit due to the demand that evening but it was not bad to stroll around a bit. They had pretty diverse staff and they were all very friendly and seemed committed to the restaurant and good service. They also seemed to know the menu quite well and proud that the restaurant makes everything from scratch! I got chimmichuri steak flat bread and my friend got a salad. We shared the seasoned fries. I would not think of these flat breads as pizza. Once you've mentally made that jump, the food is really good. I enjoyed it and it was a good amount as well. My friend also ordered food to go for her partner and our server was great to helping us time that order so it was ready for when we were leaving and still hot. Amazing service with great food and cute neighborhood. I think you can get dessert here but there's also a fun micro creamery across the street that was another delicious way to push deeper into food coma for the night!

Back for Seconds: A Review of Checkerboards Restaurant & Bar in Judson, MA…read moreThe Verdict: Round two, and I'm still here. That has to count for something, right? I returned to Checkerboards recently, mostly to confirm that the deliciousness of my first visit wasn't just a hunger-induced hallucination. I am happy to report that the pizza remains structurally sound and emotionally supportive. Here's the breakdown of the second outing: The Atmosphere: It has that classic "I'm here to eat 2,000 calories and I don't care who sees me" energy. It's cozy, it's bustling, and the checkered decor is still successfully keeping me from forgetting the name of the establishment. The Food: I dove into the pizza again because I'm a creature of habit and change scares me. The crust had that perfect "crunch-to-chew" ratio that scientists should really be studying more closely. It's the kind of pizza that makes you consider ordering a second one just to have as a pillow for the inevitable food coma. The Service: The staff is impressively fast. I'm convinced they have a psychic link with the kitchen. My drink arrived before I even fully realized I was thirsty, which is either great service or light sorcery. The "Second Visit" Realization: You know a place is good when you spend the entire car ride there debating if you should try something new, only to panic and order exactly what you had last time because the FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out... on that specific sauce) is too real. Final Thought: If you see me there a third time, don't be alarmed. Just pass the parmesan and mind your business. Rating: 5/5 Stars. I'll be back for round three once my treadmill forgives me.

This was the worst experience I have ever had. Three of the people in my party could not even eat…read moretheir meals and just left them on the table. We knew things were going to go down hill when a simple lemonade tasted terrible. Three of the meals were Alfredo and it was awful the cheese looked curdled. I never seen it were it looked chunky. Don't waste your money and if you do go to the bar first to prepare your self and maybe you won't notice how bad it is. It cost me over 200 dollars just to watch people not eat and have to go elsewhere to eat. Their cook is terrible shrimp was so over cooked it was dried out. How they servived 30 years is beyond belief. I guess people know how to prep at the bar before they eat
