I ordered the highly anticipated prime rib, but it arrived noticeably tough and severely under-seasoned, falling well below average for a pub standard. We went there for Sunday date night. We reserved it so we're seated straight away, we chose patio seats. They have nicely decorated patio with tropical feel. It was a waterfall right behind us and that sound was soothing. They have arrangement for heating for colder days. We had one cocktail and one mocktail to start with. Drinks were awesome. We had one chicken appetizer. It was good. We ordered onion soup and chicken main course. Onion soup was great but chicken main course was not good. Overall good experience. Ambience is great. Kennedy's pub last night was fabulous. Very busy at 6:00 pm on a Saturday night. Plenty of staff to handle the flow which is nice when you are seated and waited on in a timely manner. Our waitress Kim was so great, very friendly and helpful, a good waitress can always enhance the food and drink offerings and she did. On to the meals, my wife had the haddock, large portion and cooked perfectly with Delmonico potatoes. It's Kennedy's, if you know, you know the Delmonico's are fantastic. My meal is my new Go-to, Chicken skewers with a lemon glaze on a vegetable rice was absolute perfection. I like this spot! It's cozy, and festive, and has a happy energy. I love the fireplaces. Our server was very sweet. The fried zucchini could've been crispier, but the flavor was good. My shrimp scampi sauce was a little too thick, but the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The apple pie needed more crunchy bits. My dad's prime rib looked awesome, and the roast beef popover sandwich tasted delicious. My sister loved the popover dessert too. Kennedy's has been around for a long time... and for good reason. I took my wife and kids here for a Mother's Day dinner this past weekend. The place was busy but not insane. Our waitress came right over and did a great job throughout our time there; she was attentive but not over the top, always kept us with filled drinks and brought everything we needed right over. I got the Sirloin Tips with Delmonico Potatoes, and my wife got the Seafood Newburg. Kids got a combination of burgers, pasta and fish & chips. Everyone enjoyed everything they ordered. The interior of Kennedy's gives off a classic pub vibe. Old school with a modern twist. They also have outdoor patio seating - their "secret garden" is beautiful. I'm going to caveat this review with many little diddies. But you HAVE to give 5 stars for service and that is the end of that. The pub continues to be dark, old and a bit dingy - it is truly an Irish Pub in all its decor sense. But don't let that fool you - they keep it CLEAN. VERY VERY CLEAN. And for a carpet that has seen many feet over many years, and taken many spills, and seen many crumbs - they go the extra mile to keep everything clean. Because the owners/family treat this pub as home. The place is energetically loud, with a cult following at the bar - lots of friendly and thirsty locals. With bar service as lovable as any other jolly Irish pub can offer. Banter and all. I came back because as you know #granniehudsoneatsout will be retiring on Cape, but will always be granniehudson, and Katie the owner from Mullaheys on Hudson Main was offering a cheese and chocolate pairing with wine. $95 bought you 4 wines, 6 onz cheese, and what they called a small meal (salad, entree and dessert, SMALL? WOOOO! NOT!). A fall (icky sweet but tasty and spicy) white sangria and an amuse bouche of their delicious crab cake set us off. Courtney, the server of the night, banged the feet strut and didn't miss a single beat! She is really one of the most impressive servers I've seen!). Camus 50 yr anniversary was the highlight wine, with a hit from a Vihno Verde and a miss from the overrated and expensive St. Margherita Pinot Grigio (there are far better and better priced PG's IMHO) - but Katie's pairing with dark chocolate and mascarpone was super interesting and turned the bland wine around. For entrees, you could pick from 3 choices - scallps with linguine, chicken kabob or bolognese. And WHO KNEW that an Irish Pub could have such a lovingly sloooooooowwwww cooked bolognese and NOT overcook pasta? Not bad for my hubs choice. I went with the scallops that were small and a tad overcooked (assuming they waited for all the plates to get picked up and went a bit over) but were really good and the pasta was great - they could have left out the chunky and unappealing regular tomato - doesn't do a darn thing for the dish, but its a veggie/fruit so I ate it anyway. Dessert were TWO nice sized DELICIOUS caramel cheesecake and a fluffy chocolate mousse (that I brought home because I couldn't stuff my face anymore). And so a fun night was concluded with service fit for royalty and SO MUCH love and care in the attention to the pub-fare, the people, the place, the STAFF (they treat their people right). Yes folks IT IS A PUB. And given a choice between The Pheasant on Cape and this Irish Pub, Pub wins on the basis of home cooking and priced right for the community. It's A PUB - get over it. And I am not a PUB fan. We went to Kennedy's to have dinner in the yurts that they have around the holidays. We had a party of 8, with 2 infants and everything was incredible. Everyone's food was delicious, drinks were great and the service was top notch. Our servers, Carrie and Cindy, were so attentive and accommodating. We recently had a reservation in a yurt. I think we paid $49 for the private, outside yurt dining experience, but it's worth doing at least once. That evening was really cold, icy and rainy outside, so we felt bad for the waitress who was in and out of the yurt serving drinks, apps and then dinner for us and you could tell she was a little frustrated with the horrible New England weather at that point. Regarding the actual Yurt, it was warm and fun dining with family privately while we heard the ice and rain pour down outside. Regarding the food, our meals were fine. On the advice of my love, we took my niece and her husband out for supper. In Marlboro, a restaurant hot spot, there are many choices. She suggested Kennedy's. You must try Kennedy's. The front building is their retail store. Meat, fish, poultry. The back building, the restaurant, is a dated, comfortable mix of tables and booths. The clientele is decidedly older who, I suspect, like the comfort and quiet of a better venue. Our server, Lindsey, was immediately at our table as we waited for our guests. I ordered an Old Fashioned and my love had a glass of wine. I commented that at another restaurant, my similar drink came with an over sized ice cube reducing the task drink. Lindsey said that would never happen here and brought me one of the best Old Fashioned I've ever had. When our guests arrived, we ordered. I had the spicy cashew chicken, my love chicken Vienne. Everything was perfectly prepared. Lindsey was terrific and you should ask for her. I usually don't give five stars right off the bat but I will for Kennedy's. read more
