Stopped here before a 6:45 p.m. Woo Sox game recently. Were the first ones in at 5:00 p.m. and our waitress was immediate in taking care of us. Several others had arrived by the time we left and she remained very attentive to our table the whole time. Drinks were very good; a draft and a Cosmo. Started with the Goat Cheese Bruschetta, followed by the Hot Honey and Prosciutto Flatbread and Nick's Rigatoni Vodka with Chicken. Food was awesome, and reasonably priced. Nice, open atmosphere. We got the fettuccine alfredo (no onion or arugula which the waitress recommended) and the wings & fries and they were both delicious. This is a great date night spot for drinks or a quick bite. The space is quaint, friendly! The bartender Nikki was friendly knowledgeable about the menus. I choose the calamari, and Old Fashion! Let me tell you I am looking forward to going back for both! My friends got the Boom Boom shrimp! They were big plump, juicy, and the sauce was full of flavor! The drinks were well balanced and no shortage of liquor. I ordered the chile lime salon with the seasonal veggies, with a side of shrimp. The flavors in my bowl were good and balanced in every bite! I was pleased from start to finish! I am sad I didn't have room for dessert. They have some yummy looking choices but I was full to the brim!The head chef Zach ( I'm bad with names) came out to say hi, he was personable and humble! Great scratch kitchen ! Everything is fresh. We had the chicken wings with garlic Parm. They were cooked perfectly. I had the better bowl which was very good. Service was great. Neighborhood bars can have the best food and this is one of those bars . read more

Was expecting a little more. All tables are high tops, ours needed to be adjusted because it was wobbly. Menu was rather limited, although the food was OK. Limited kids menu. Lacking atmosphere and really lacking heat in the restaurant. IT WAS FREEZING the entire time. One party of 4 actually left because it was so cold. We found refuge in the heated bathrooms to warm up!! Parking was very challenging. Restaurant is not meant for families (due to all tables are high tops) or handicap (due to the parking issue and again high top tables). Wouldn't recommend since there are several other good restaurants in the area that actually put their heat on and have better access for families and handicapped. There is a funny smell in the restaurant. Very weird smell like they are using something to cover up a smell. Left my lips numb. The chicken wings were great. The flatbread not so much. The prosciutto was slapped on there. Maybe if they grilled the prosciutto it would have been better. The drinks were good. Sorry, but won't be returning. read more

Food: They had a smaller menu because it was an event for brunch. The french toast waffle was pretty good with just the right amount of crisp and softness. The steaks were cooked perfectly but kind of small portions. The special flatbed which was BLT was a bit overbearing with loads of lettice and tomatos but the bacon & chipotle ranch helps balance it out. I don't think much cheese was added. The drinks were solid, blended flavors were perfect. Service: Our server was good, she got out drinks and food prompty. However, I had called a week ago to make a reservation and I guess who ever answered to take it forgot to put it on bc when we arrive, our names were not on the reservation the day of. We still manage to get a table since it wasn't too busy yet. They don't have an online system and they don't answer on emails so your best bet is to call for reservations. Ambiance: It was during a 90's event so there was a DJ/music going with crowd going. Pretty loud, I could barely hear my friends while sitting right across and it almost felt like a day club. Some people were obnoiously screaming so if you plan to come during these events, just know it's really really loud. 1885 has a warm, welcoming, staff that makes you feel right at home. My cocktail was beautifully madeand II look forward to trying more of their options. The food was phenomenal: my steak frites were a perfect medium rare and the fries seasoned just right, the green beans crisp and tasty; my partner loved the winter salad and the crispy caprese flatbread. The menu is not large, but there's a great attention to detail in our dishes. We split the dessert, pineapple upside down cheesecake, and it was a perfect bite - the flavors balanced beautifully. Frequent bar goers in Worcester but we stay clear of this one. We have received bad alcohol snd have gotten gravely ill after only having one drink. (We don't get sick ever). According to other women in the area including me the bartenders only take guys orders. Stay clear of this one. Management is not kind, staff is not friendly and they are only after your wallet if you are a man. read more

We just enjoyed fabulous food from the Brunch Menu at 1885. French toasted waffles with candied bacon - oh my - in a word fantastic! Additionally, a towering grilled cheese (loads of cheese - yummy!) accompanied by a lovely tomato bisque. This place is a gem made sweeter by best-in-class service provided by Cass! Her cheer, sweet disposition, and can this gal mix a cocktail! We both enjoyed a blueberry specialty cocktail punctuating our delicious brunch selections. For those who feel atmosphere is important to the dining experience 1885 does not disappoint with a sophisticated vibe down to the furnishings,flatware and bar ware. Overall, a serendipitous experience and bravo to Worcester for attracting entrepreneurs to up the restaurant game. read more

My wife and I called and made dinner reservations for this past Sunday at 5:00pm. The woman on the phone was pleasant and confirmed our reservation. Before hanging up, she also let us know that they have a St. Patrick's Day brunch from 1-9pm, but that we could also order off the regular menu. When we showed up at 5:00pm Sunday, I could hear the loud music playing from inside my car accross the street. There was a line of about 15 twenty- something guys waiting to enter the restaurant. We went to the front of the line and spoke to the employee at the door. I told him we were here for a 5pm reservation. He told us they were at capacity and there were no tables available, and they weren't letting anyone else in, so we'd have to wait at the end of the line. I explained that we had called a couple days before and made a reservation and that this was not acceptable. When the guy saw that we weren't going away he said he'd go talk to the manager. He stepped back inside and stood around drinking jello shots with another employee. About 10 minutes later he saw us and back came outside. He said all their reservations had "gotten lost" and there was nothing he could do. We had no choice but to leave. This is unexceptable! Unfortunately, because of the concert we were attending, every restaurant in town was booked up for the next couple hours and we were forced to go without dinner. Apparently, 1855 knows how to TAKE the reservation...they just don't know how to HOLD the reservation. And that really is the most important part of the reservation...The HOLDING...anybody can just TAKE them. 1885, You ruined our evening!! read more
