Food was delicious! Came in on a busy Sunday after church, the wait was not long & after we ordered our food came out pretty fast. They had live marimba for music. Definitely coming back!

Authentic. Delicious. Two words to describe my experience at Amalia's Restaurant. Right in the heart of LA, at the corner of Beverly and Normandie. If you know the area, you'll know the parking situation. There's a plaza lot, which, on the night I came, was half empty--and it's free. Or you can try your luck on one of the side streets. I'm not sure about restrictions, but I didn't see any meters (though I wasn't really looking). Speak Spanish or bring someone who does. The evening I dropped in, the host/server/cashier didn't speak much English. I managed, but it definitely helped that my plus-one is fluent. Inside, it's all tables, set up to accommodate live music and dancing. Combined with the décor, including paintings, it felt like sitting in a Guatemalan courtyard, hanging out with food and drinks. There wasn't any music or dancing that night, but it was lively enough with the background music and the other guests enjoying their meals and having a good time. As for the food--see my pics! My friend and I shared everything in the photos. It was a combo, so we got a little bit of everything. We included drinks and dessert, and there were no to-go boxes needed. Knowing how labor-intensive some of the dishes can be, I have to say I really enjoyed how simple yet flavorful the dishes were--even down to the salsa. One of the two house salsas had a nice kick, and I enjoyed mixing them together. Hell yeah, this place is on my list to visit again--more than likely, sooner rather than later.

I had a great experience at Amalia's Restaurant! The service was excellent, the staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was delicious and full of flavor, definitely worth the wait. It did take a little while for our food to come out, but that's pretty normal since everything tastes freshly made and prepared with care. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for enjoying a nice meal with family or friends. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Amalia's Restaurant if you're looking for great food, good portions, and friendly service!

This place is absolutely delicious!! I want to try everything on the menu! Atmosphere was so lively, there was live music and karaoke and lots of family talking. Everything was so flavorful and well-seasoned. Service was super sweet, but it was rather hectic so understandably sometimes you have to get their attention. I came in on a Saturday around 2pm. I saw this place while driving by before and wanted to give it a try. I regret having driven by so many times and not trying it. The parking lot is a big bonus, but there's street parking too I believe. If there's one thing you should do in your lifetime, it's eating here.

This is a relatively new location. It's in a shopping center/strip mall. Parking is difficult but the service is fast and friendly. The food is excellent and the ambiance is bright and friendly. It's a must try and I look forward to going again.

I just ordered the chicken soup today and I can't believe what I saw. While I was eating my soup I found a small cockroach! I was disgusted and disappointed. Their food is good but this is plain disgusting.

We found parking on the street but you still have to pay at the meters on a Sunday. Valet was $15 for the first 2 hours. When we got there staff was very friendly and welcoming and we were seated within 10min. The space is trendy and modern and they have a little market right next to the restaurant. Menu offers tapas, paella, greens and main dishes. We were told paella takes about 30min but it came out within 15min. Everything we ordered off the menu was exceptional and we were left very satisfied. Patatas bravas have a little kick to them which we loved. Crab croquettes were soft and melted in your mouth. Paella mixta was so flavorful and the medium was more than enough for all of us. Brussels sprouts wee good but ai would probably skip it next time. Wagyu empanadas were also a must! Overall amazing experience and can't wait to come back!!

I have tasted much better paella's here in Los Angeles. Although I was extremely disappointed when served our orders, this was below even what we have in LA. Ambience amazing the reflection of stars has nothing to do with the service whatsoever. Actually our service was excellent. It was the food that ruined the experience. This is recently not uncommon in LA. We ordered the patatas bravas, camarones alijillo... I understand that every restaurant has to put their spin on it but this was really missing the mark... since when do we put a aioli sauce in paella or even on potatoes. Yuk!! Amsterdam, maybe but not in seafood. Also chimichurri on shrimp wow this is super new - I ordered paella in Spain at least 20 times and I've never seen it like this. Sangria excellent! Paella 5/10 - I know that they are cooking the seafood whilst still having the paella come out al dente - but our seafood was severely overcooked not much lobster, and a very thin layer of paella - incredibly disappointed, although it was date night and that made it great. I would not recommend this restaurant for paella. It has a great atmosphere. Good drinks nice atmosphere. I know this sounds terrible, but I'm just going to have to go back to La paella for the time being since a few of the restaurants that we frequent have closed - so we will see how long this lasts. Off to look for more restaurants with excellent paella. We definitely have a lacking here in the prime Westside.

First off, it's a beautiful restaurant with Spanish touches throughout. There is seating inside and outside the restaurant in the courtyard. In the courtyard, there was a musician playing the guitar. Loved, LOVED his rendition of Hotel California. Really put me in a relaxing mood. The food here is unbelievably good with a few minor exceptions. Here is a run down of everything we had: -Patatas Bravas 5/5 stars. The roasted potatoes were delicious and the creamy sauce drizzled on top made it that much better. -Croquetas de Jamon y Pollo 4/5 stars. I remember it being tasty, but it wasn't as memorable as some of the other things I tried. -Gambas al Ajillo 5/5 stars. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and flavored. Even the bread, which tasted like sourdough, was fantastic. -Calamares Fritos 10/5 stars. No, that is not a typo. I usually avoid calamari like the plague since I'm not a fan of the taste. Here, however, I couldn't stop eating the calamari. I was popping them in my mouth like popcorn. There was something about the batter they used to coat the calamari. It had a satisfying crunch to it. Didn't even need the sauce it came with. -Prime Ribeye (prepared medium rare) 3/5 stars. The steak was okay. It was a bit undercooked and didn't have a nice crust on it. -Papitas Fritas: 10/5 stars. Once again, not a typo. The fries here were something special, which is saying a lot since fries are ubiquitous. The fries were delicately crispy and delicious. -Jamon Iberico Cebi de Campo with Manchego Cheese 4/5 stars. The Jamon Iberico was good, but not great. It had a slightly weird after taste that I usually don't get from high quality Jamon Iberico. -Tarta De Queso and Churros con Chocolate 3/5 stars. These were the only two items that I was truly disappointed with. There was nothing special about these dessert items. The churros were bland. -Cucumber Mint Cooler and Devil's Day Off 5/5 stars. Both of these drinks were refreshing. The Cucumber Mint Cooler, in case you're wondering, could best be described as a well executed, non-alcoholic cucumber mojito. The Devil's Day Off was a fizzy grapefruit and cinnamon delight. I have to end this review with the service. It was top notch. Our server, Robert, was not only extremely friendly, but helpful and informative. He walked us through the menu and talked us out of ordering certain items so that we wouldn't over order food or get items too similar to one another. At one point, we were debating whether to order the Churrasco a la Plancha (8 oz ribeye) or 12 oz ribeye. One person from our family wanted the fritas that only came with the Churrasco while another person (me) wanted the 12 oz ribeye. Robert resolved the disagreement by suggesting that we just order the 12 oz ribeye and they'll throw in the fritas for free (which they did). At the end of the meal, he made sure to point out that the gratuity had already been added to the bill and that there was no need to add a tip. We appreciated the heads up, otherwise we may not have noticed that. If it's not clear from my write up, I really enjoyed this place, despite a few items that missed the mark. If it wasn't so far away from where I live, I would have been back this weekend to try out more items from the menu.

Doors open right at 7:30 pm and you are seated in the garden where you will receive a welcome drink (Tokyo fizz which is a Japanese sake/yuzu cocktail) and about 6 small bites that range from sweet to savory. This allows us to sit and relax for about 20 minutes before being escorted into the main dining hall. The tasting menu starts at $745 actually, you're dealing with a meal that can cost as much as a family trip to legoland. Somni makes it clear from the first of 20-plus courses where your money is going. As you're led into a tree-draped courtyard outside the converted bungalow where the restaurant is housed (it used to be a Donna Karan store), the night begins with a champagne flute of frothed-up mandarin juice and a spread of carnival-coded snacks: popcorn-flavored leaves, a feather made of parmesan, and a big trompe l'oeil almond shell that cracks under your teeth like candy. Somni's chef cooked under José Andres and came up in the tongue-in-cheek school of fine dining made famous by Spain's El Bulli--so whimsy-heavy dishes like a cartoonish mushroom sandwich boosted with truffle, or a sashimi-like sardine tart on an oversized goldfish cracker are par for the course. But Somni's Spanish-leaning creations never sacrifice deliciousness for cleverness. An obscenely generous mound of caviar over a dissolving puff of dashi-flavored meringue is so delicious that all you can do is sigh. Beef tartare is delicately stuffed inside a tempura shiso leaf that's fried so it inflates like a crab shell, all but defying physics. A fair number of dishes use foams and flowers at Somni, but there's nothing dainty about the flavors here. The food is only half of what you'll remember, though. The dining room's 14 seats gently curve around a long kitchen counter like front-row seats to a play. The servers are cooks and vice versa. Many of them wear Secret Service earpieces. There's a natural choreography to how they breeze around the room, but no moment in the three-hour production comes across rehearsed for someone that's paralyzed. That's great news A beverage pairing is required Even if you choose the most inexpensive option-- over 100 Still, if you're willing to make the investment, Somni does not disappoint. A meal at this theatrical tasting menu spot is nothing short of incredible--just know it's incredibly expensive, too.

There was ample al fresco seating, as well as atmospheric, candlelit dining inside. Menu items were reminiscent of my time in Spain and transported me back to my time there. What we ordered for the table, in order of preference: 1. Patatas bravas - fabulously crispy and flavorful. 2. Sardines - always a favorite, and the lemon zest contrasted nicely with the brininess of the fish. 3. Gambas - prawns were perfectly grilled and fresh. 4. Croquetas - love anything fried or crispy, so this was a classic choice. 4. Sardine toast - again, the lemon zest offset the fishiness beautifully. 5. King trumpet mushrooms - so umami, and almost tasted like steak. 6. The steak - loved the bright sauce that accompanied it. 7. Arroz - perhaps because I was expecting more of a paella dish, this one came out a little more textureless than I would've preferred. Decent flavor; just didn't entirely enjoy the mushy texture. 8. Morcilla de cebolla - I ordered this wanting to give blood sausage another try, but it's still not a favorite dish of mine and would not reorder. Overall, most dishes were enjoyable, well made and presented. We also enjoyed a carafe of basque wine, which complemented our meal very nicely. There's no dedicated parking lot, but there is street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. I was lucky enough to find parking on the street behind the restaurant.

Great service & vibe. Definitely great for date night…read more I tried their blood sausage, sardine on tomato bread, Ensalada Verde salad, and Arroz con Almejas. Blood sausage (Morcilla) was the highlight of the night! Just really delicious and would def recommend for everyone! Along with the house tab white wine, the food pairing was great! Portions are bit small, so not a place to come to pig out, but to enjoy the vibe, service, food, and company you bring. Def reocmmend!

What a great spot tucked away in the UTC mall, really transports you to Spain. We sat in the patio…read moresection; tables were nice light wood, and we were surrounded by vegetation, giving off a very farm to table vibe. The mocktails were refreshing and balanced!!I was so glad they weren't to sweet. We indulged in the Sierra Sunset, which came on a light up coaster showing off the sunset colors. And also the Lychee's & Cream, which was my favorite. I think it was the use of the kaffir yogurt that really balanced the mocktail and set it apart. The tapas we had were the Salmon Tartar, Patatas Bravas (add crispy Jamon), and Wagyu Empanadas. The citru notes in the salmon tartar really made this dish sing to me; bouncing off the creaminess of the avocado mouse and the richness of the salmon, then finishing with the crunch of the tostada. The Patatas Bravas were nice and crispy, and toped with a creamy aoil then a spicy Bravas sauce with added a nice spice and depth to the dish. However, adding the crispy Jamon is definitely the way to go if you order this dish!! Those Wagyu Empanadas were just the right ratio of meat to dough. Then those Manchego cheese cracker not only are a nice crunch, but also bring a nuttiness that balances the richness of the meat and that succulent mole sauce. Next was the burrata bowl, another favorite of mine. This must have been a whole burrata ball spread out and topped with cherry tomatoes an herbal basil sauce and crunchy kale chips. They even have us some tostada chips to dip in this delicious burrata bowl. They have a whole pallela section under the main dishes, so of course we had to try this out. We went with the Paella Negra; squid ink, gulf shrimp, clams, scallops and broccolini, and of course we added the Iberian ham. This was so decadent and delicious. Definitely recommend topping it off with a squeeze of the lemon they provide you with, it complements the dish. The corrners of the rice were nice and crispy, while the center remind fluffy. Shrimp were cooked to perfection, the dolops of aoli complemented the side ink rice. The addition of the Iberian ham really brought a smokey and salty addition to this dish. To end the night we decided to indulge in the desert trio, this included churros, an orange Mochi, torrija and ice cream. The orange Mochi was light and delicious and definitely and Instagram-able dish. But the one that stole the show for me, was the torrija. Something I had never had before, nice rich brioche style pastry filled with a passion fruit cream.

That is hands down the best yogurt parfait I have ever had. I've eaten in plenty of Michelin star…read morerestaurants and in each I've appreciated the passion and focus that the chefs brought to their craft, but it has never shocked me the way that this yogurt parfait did. It was truly stunning. At first bite I distinctly thought, "Oh, mint, that's interesting." I then decided to run the yogurt over my tongue which I had slightly burnt on my coffee (which really was a bit too hot, be careful out there) and continued on as one would. It wasn't until the fourth or fifth bite that I thought, "This is incredible!" I actually stopped, pulled out my phone and took a picture of the yogurt, not because I originally intended to review it but rather because I realized I need to tell the world about this parfait and I would want to remember it (you'll notice in the photo I tried to hide that I'd already taken a few bites). The texture, the complexity of complimentary flavors, the crunchiness of the granola, the freshness of the berries were all done to perfection. Even the presentation was distinct and enjoyable. I paused on my last few bites and considered for a moment that would be sad that the yogurt parfait would be gone in a few short moments. As I finished, I noted that I was right. I sat for a moment and felt genuine sadness at the fact the parfait was gone. I am not this emotional of a person, I'm really not, it really was just that good. The next few moments I sat and considered ordering another but decided not to (I was already full). Then I considered whether I would ever take another trip to LA just for this parfait (spoiler, I would). I mentioned this to the waitress, who was pitch perfect by the way, and she generously told me all about the dish (yes I am calling the yogurt parfait a "dish."). I'll stop here as if you're reading this, I don't want to ruin your experience by overselling to the purveyor. This post is not meant for them. To them I simply say, "Try the yogurt parfait." To the chef and staff of San Laurel instead I say, bravo your simple delectable yogurt parfait illicited an unexpected emotional response from the cold heart of a passerby. Well done.

I had a 5:15 pre-theater reservation and I was seated promptly. I had a nice little inside deuce…read morefacing north. The restaurant is simply but elegantly decorated. The bar is a focal point as is the large wrap around dining terrace. After taking a look at the menu, I had a brief conversation with Elizabeth about the size of the dishes and what to order. I wanted to try a few things so I started with the fennel soup, and then I had the straciatella salad & the scallops. The fennel soup with crabmeat was so beautifully presented and it tasted absolutely heavenly. I wanted that bowl to be never-ending. It was my favorite dish of the evening! Btw, the only miss of the night was that the soup and salad were brought out at the same time. That was not ideal, but when I told Elizabeth, she kindly returned the salad to the kitchen and brought out a fresh one once I'd finished my soup. The salad was good, but quite sweet. I also didn't enjoy the little frisée like, twig-esque lettuce leaves that were tossed in although the strawberries and other elements in the salad were so delicious. It was a bit like having dessert early. The scallops were perfectly cooked and divine. I enjoyed them. I could have done without the sliced grapes, but they weren't really a bother. I probably should have just ended with these items, but I was still hungry. So I ordered the vermicelli Mac n cheese. It came out in a piping hot red serving dish and was interesting... the cheese sauce did not have the depth of flavor that I was looking for, but with the crunchy shallots and the umami of the mushrooms, some bites were quite satisfying. This dish was in the larger side, so I ended up taking most of it to go. I also had a glass of Lefrana 2021, & it was pleasant and accompanied my dishes well. Overall, this was an elevated meal is a sophisticated yet welcoming environment. The service was quite good. I was referred to by name throughout the experience, and all of the staff members were professional and attentive. The bathroom is gender neutral meaning that there is one large restroom with individual stalls for everyone to use. I noted valet parking and self-parking, but I walked & took Angels Flight from Little Tokyo, so I can't comment more on it. Gracias!

TLDR: The best way to unite group of people is with some paella!! Small place but great ambiance…read moreand even better service and to wrap it all up is a gorgeous meal Ordered Kale Salad: 3/5 - If you need a good palette cleanser then this is a good one to have. You can't really go wrong with a the kale version of a house salad however there are plenty of other options you could order Scallop Crudo: 5/5 - So incredibly blown away by this? I don't think I've scallop this good in years. Melts in your mouth, the sauce is light but perfectly pairs with the fish. I could not get over this one Gambas Al Ajillo: 5/5 - If I could lick the plate clean publicly and without discrimination I would've. The sauce reminded me of some of the best pasta ive ever had. The shrimp was big and well marinated, oh what fun this one was! It was a crime this didn't have more bread to soak it in. I'm not just leaving money on the table, I'm leaving bliss. Potatoes: 5/5 - These were really good! I loved the heat this had and the sauce to go with it. The seasoning great, the skin was crispy but still a soft moist potato inside. These were great to share. Paella Mariscos - 4.5/5 - After everything we had this was a fairly good portion for 3 people even though it says it serves 2 (I still stand by the 2 serving if you don't have much tapas). With that said I think this was a little more on the simpler side when it came to flavor. You could tell it wasn't trying to do too much while still letting you know she's the star of the show. There was a good amount of seafood all of which was cooked really well. The rice was perfect and the sauce ratio was great as well. I had some the next day and it was even better. I really think those scallops just stayed in my mind the whole night. Bread Pudding - 4/5 - I really appreciated the creativity behind reinventing the bread pudding! It was like a cinnamon roll esc type which was a fun but not blow me out of the water dessert. With that said everything on there looked so good so my eye is on the key lime next. Wine: The Albarino was great! I've never heard of it but was a fan favorite. Paired great with all the food. For 3 the total came out to $280 (with tip) which wasn't that bad. Service: 5/5 I forgot our servers name but he was so sweet! He gave us his recs, checked in on us frequently and was accommodating. I also feel like he was serving a lot of tables so his service was stellar! Ambiance: 5/5 The place is tinnyyy but man I am obsessed with the interior. Its swanky without it being pretentious. Intimate feeling but can feel the atmosphere. Not sure what the noise level was like inside, we were outside (two tables on the sidewalk), but it seems like it could get a little loud. Parking: N/A - Its a prime spot on ventura, only metered so...can't really knock the place off that. Really excited to come back here! Hopefully in the near future!
